Gottwood Festival's imprint Gottwax returns for its eighth installment. At the controls of this release is the London-based duo 'Make A Dance,' whose playful, party-driven sound has been making waves in the underground since their inception. Delivering a lively four-track EP, which includes two originals and two reworks, all of which are club-ready and certainly have 'The dance in mind.' This is going to make it into a lot of DJs' bags this summer and is not one to be missed." Kicking things off on the A-side is 'Pocket Beagle,' a playful track that exudes energy with its infectious bassline groove and unforgettable vocal. Make A Dance showcases their slick production abilities and sense of humour with this track, which is sure to be a staple at many parties this summer. Moving to the A2, 'Pocket Beagle (Acid Dub)' is the duo's club-ready reimagining of the A1, injecting some serious attitude and character with its acid-infused bassline and metallic top line. Onto the B-side, we've got 'Woof Doof.' This track is a real groover, with a lively bass and catchy melody. It's a solid addition to any DJ's arsenal and one you can expect to hear at many parties this year.Closing out the EP is 'Woof Doof (Hardcore Labrador Mix),' the duo's haunting rework that cleverly rethinks the B1 but takes you on a deeper journey. With its heavy drum groove, swelling sound effects, and that catchy top line, this track is tailor-made for those late-night dance floors. With the last slice of 10” action on the Make A Dance sub label coming in at 136bpm the guys thought they would slow things down a little and offer up two versions of a boogie classic.

The A side ‘Body II Body’ is a straight dance floor edit, beefed up and chugged out for maximum dancing effect.

On the flip ‘Body II Dub’ the boys take things sub 95bpm working with horn player Freddy Wordsworth who provides a Flugelhorn overdub, that combined with 303 acid flecks takes the track in a new tripped out direction. More

Half Spanish, half Lebanese, Rakim Under was born in Chile, grew up in Memphis and Spain and is now based in London.

Listening to his debut EP for M.A.D. Records, it’s easy to hear his exotic heritage very much reflected in his music.

Karim effortlessly covers many styles, ranging from Latin house to Bollywood infused breaks and electro, all under pinned with his distinct hi-pressure bass lines.

As a DJ, Rakim has a taste for a variety of musical styles, where genre has no limit. Selecting from his painstakingly curated record collection, even the deepest of diggers will walk away having had their ears opened, failing that, he’ll at least make you dance your ass off.

Live electronics duo REKK&KUTOBOY provides raw electronic manipulations, femme noise, and off-kilter dance extravaganza for a self-titled EP on Attention Management.

Katya Rekk and Ilya Kutoboy have been playing live shows for years and cut their teeth on the local improv, noise, and experimental scene in several projects and collaborations. Ranging from unholy fx-scape crackers to haunted lullabies but mostly striking as kinetic grooves, the band embodies a heavy, amplified synth sound, sitting somewhere between machine sequencing, processed vocalizations and use of DIY electronics. The enfant terrible of Katya's grrrl high-energy and improvisational tactics paired with Ilya's mutant beats blends into an idiosyncratic sonic realm that empowers you in its own way. More

Sound Metaphors Records continues to explore the Italian early 90's techno scene with another re-issue of D.A.T.A.'s precious catalogue. Already 3 decades ago, 4 Italians got together in northern Italy to elaborate this sound, and it's only fair to say it's still timelessly effective, possibly a mixture of pure naivety and/or premeditated distilled club essence, bold and minimal in its use of rhythmic patterns generated by drum machines and samplers of the time. To imagine this music was being made in a time where only petrol company CEO's had cell phones, emails weren't even a thing, let alone social media, a time capsule into a special epoch where "progressive" or "trance" weren't quite established keywords yet. Re-issued with a new remastered face and 2 new remixes from studio guru Anatolian Weapons beautifully adding to this powerful exploration of club oriented electronics. More

A stunning follow-up to his late 2018 release. Mostly recorded live at the Apollo Hotel Amsterdam in 1991. This is a compilation of the ''Apollo Hotel CD box'', that Ronald made himself, for family and friends.. BIG tip!

Some words from the label:

From 1986 until 1992, Ronald had a residency in the lounge of Amsterdam’s Apollo Hotel. He would play there 5 days a week, for 5 hours a day. In 1991, throughout several sessions, he recorded himself on a cassette recorder. The recordings were ranging from re-interpreted cover versions to multiple own compositions.

The Apollo was particularly known for its sophisticated and elegant crowd. Guests would come to meet in the lounge to talk business, or end the day with a drink at the bar - dancing was never an option.

Listening to the album, one must wonder how some of this music would go hand in hand with a place like that. It seems Ronald gets lost in music and returns in unequally balanced patterns. Lounge sounds meet drum computer rhythms, punchy baselines, distorted space noises, reoccurring clarinet interludes and improvised piano solos.

Back then, just as now, Ronald never liked to be the center of attention. He simply tried to interact with the surrounding as a provider of the mood - as he explains himself.

"Reflections Within is a mergence of Alton Miller's signature house style with tracks which feature the wondrous vocal abilities of Giinga Flame - providing an enriching and all encompassing experience. ‘No Fomo’, which opens the record up, and ‘No Vibe Check’, feature Flame up top above the sea of instrumental excellence. ‘No Fomo’ strips the backing track to a strong pulse, with Flame given plenty of room to showcase her talents. ‘Vibe Check’ contains a delightful chord progression alongside sweeping jazzy lines, with Flame’s voice gently but powerfully floating above the kicks, effortlessly wrapping the dance floor up, moving hearts and minds along.

Reverie, ‘Light of the World’ and ‘Around the Corner’ all speak of Miller’s multi-faceted approach, with each track bringing something slightly different to the table. Reverie’ feeds into the rhythm of the dancefloor, with a pulsating chord that underpins the rhythm and provides a beautiful link between the glorious melodic meanderings that come forth. ‘Light of the World’ is involving and evolving, like waves lapping at the beach, characterised by the gentle key stabs and sparkling top layer elements that give it a real gleam. ‘Around the Corner’ features a similar top quality rhythm layer, with this one a bit more playful, providing an up and down motion to proceedings that is sure to get the feet moving. In January 2023, Tom Skinner and his ensemble performed material from his recently released album Voices of Bishara at London club "mu"- a venue founded by the curators at Brilliant Corners and named after the seminal Don Cherry live album. The set was augmented by a rendition of Tony Williams" "Red" and three pieces by Abdul Wadud, whose 1977 self-released solo cello album, By Myself, was a primary inspiration for Voices of Bishara. Recorded in Trieste in 1993 by Edoardo Milani and Tullio Battisti, “Bubbles (Soap Mix)” is a slice of colorful, sun-soaked euphoria, a track delightfully leftfield and playful in a way so rarely found in club music. Originally released on Italy’s Promo Music label, it was quickly lost to time, a masterpiece locked away on an extremely hard to find 12”, soon growing in notoriety among DJs and collectors.

Bliss Point’s reissue of this classic includes two remixes from contemporary luminaries, each interpreting the timeless sound of Bubbles for the 21st century. Tokyo’s boys be kko explores the soaring complexity of the original, and New Yorker Olive T offers a thumping take on its deep and tender heart. The original “Acapella” version is also included.

This reimagining of Soft Keys – Bubbles is remastered and recut by Dubplates & Mastering, and features an homage to the original 12” sleeve designed by Brandon Oxendine. More
