When you’re thinking about the early days of disco music, you automatically think of the record that dominated the dance floors and dance charts: “Dancer” by Gino Soccio.

With this record the Canadian producer and synthesizer wizard became an indispensable part of the golden disco years.

Four more albums followed, and 6 hit singles entered the charts worldwide.

In 1984 the producer disappeared without a trace.

Random Vinyl presents the official Gino Soccio Tribute. A new version of one of his best-known songs “Remember”. We celebrate his life and career. With nothing but respect to the original, Marc Hartman produced this 2024 version. Vocals have been done by Italo Disco legend Fred Ventura. The mysterious lady with the French spoken words now finally also has been unraveled and added by Ivy Sharrard. And if that wasn't enough, Flemming Dalum made a banging Remix that you always will Remember!

Land Of The Drums is a unique blend of natural animal sounds put to Rhythm and a driving Dance percussive Beat. Producer Neftali Santiago ( Former Drummer Of Mandrill) was a sample pioneer in 1980. All animal sounds were placed with a Melotron ( first sampler with analogue tapeloops). The single was only available as promo and got a lot of attention in Holland, for example as Radio tune from legendary radioprogram Soul Show with Ferry Maat. The promotional copies are selling for as much as $85 a copy because of dj’s collecting. Nowaday there’s still a demand for the record.

Global Swing founder Garrett David steps up to the plate for BSU013, his first full-length EP in two years.

Garrett was just 19 when he began his residency at Smartbar in Chicago, playing the legendary Queen! nights alongside Derrick Carter, Michael Serafini, Frankie Knuckles, and Chez Damier—his first major mentors. Around the same time, he started working behind the counter at Gramaphone Records, where he spent the next decade immersed in the city’s rich musical roots.

Now Berlin-based, Garrett’s music, label, and live performances represent his steeping in US house music history but with fresh perspective. NuRelix opens with Play2Win, menacing peak-time energy driven by dark and hypnotic textures. Following that is Grow Up, which channels the breezier side of ’90s US house, marked by a measured groove and a distinctive melodic sensibility that sets his sound apart.

Flip over for a double dose of dreamy deep-house GD style, both cuts awash in oceanic vibes: Livin' Under Clouds (Zenzitiv Dub) crashes over you like a hypnotic spell, with ebbing rhythms and swirling melodies setting you adrift to tranquil bliss, while Subaqua closes the EP with a chunky bassline and shimmering detours into melodic, submerged euphoria.

It was only in 2018 that New York techno mainstay Joey Beltram revealed that he was the man behind 'SW37', a record which had been an underground classic since it first started doing the rounds in 1998. It remains an evergreen favourite almost 30 years on, which is why Damon Wild's Synewave is reissuing it here. The A-side is gloppy, dubby techno with impish percussion darting about the mix and drunken hits bring an off-kilter edge. On the flip, 'SW37B' is stripped back to pure deep techno serenity with deft ambient pads and a sense of unrelenting meditation that locks you in the here and now.

DCTL is a unit formed by Masafumi Onishi, aka TELLY, the label owner of Troop Music Works, and DJ DUCT, who is renowned for his turntable skills that span a wide range of genres, from Hip Hop and Rare Groove Funk to Detroit Techno and Deep House. Brazilian producer Diogo Strausz makes his return to RNT with an incredible pair of new tracks, each remixed to perfection respectively by Kai Alce and Lex Wolf. Canto Das Trés Raças is a classic of legendary proportions, and Diogo’s new cover version both honors the original and brings a fresh new take, entirely re-recorded and primed for the dance floor. Ever-reliable Atlanta deep house don Kai Alce turns in an incredible soulful remix that feels like an instant classic. On the flip, Diogo’s original tune Caramba strikes a lighter tone, with arpeggiated synths and a cheeky vocal, giving Kraftwerk meets Marcos Valle at the disco. RNT/Make-A-Dance stalwart Lex Wolf bumps the tempo up a few clicks, looping and filtering synths and an extemporaneous vocal sample into a hypnotic, driving club track.
