OVERVIEW:

Released in limited numbers in tandem with Black Mahogani back in 2004 and never repressed. Black Mahogani II was a departure from Kenny Dixon Jr's usual house based music and featured cuts from Kenny Dixon Jr's late night jazz band sessions The centrepiece is the eighteen minute 'When She Follows', a deep jazz session skittering live drum rolls into an electric Fender Rhodes, loping acoustic bass and distant saxophone all wrapped up in an amorphous vocal that drifts ever onwards like some epic detroit techno cut replayed by Gil Scott Heron's band in 1970. Incredible music. 'Rectify' follows in a similar mode, jazz in a detroit techno framework, while the final two tracks 'Dirty Little Bonus Beats' and 'When She (Reprise)' are revisions of the main cut, the former altering the bassline, adding vocal sighs and more rhythmic drums, while the latter shifts up the tempo with a wigged out techno synth element. Stone, cold.

Release Info:

Night Tide founder Eluize returns to the label with her follow up to last year's debut release "Talk In Technicolour". Her latest five track sonic trip "For the Forgetful" follows 24 hours searching to be lost, finding comfort in the dance floor, time spent after hours and the day that follows. It seeks out soaring highs and sweeping lows covering all energies.

"Slate" opens. A deep offering, subtle and enthralling. Bright eyed keys, smooth strings, a snare that snaps and a swelling sub alludes to what's to come. The tale continues with "For the Forgetful", a hypnotic, punchy, deep house workout, alluring and sensual it beckons with whispered promises, abyssal toms, twisted pads and intricate percussion.

We go harder on the flip, ruthless, pushing, pulsing "The Blackout" shakes away any last doubt and drives the sojourn into the night along with memories you'll try to retrieve tomorrow. Eluize's take on techno, the bass pumps beneath a grinding acid line, interspersed with echoed bleeps and a cutting lead. The build continues. "Second Valley" is ecstatic. Deep house meets trance-esque undertones, for peak time moments or as the day breaks. Its cinematic soundscape speaks to Eluize's penchant for the theatric as classical instruments twist through synthetic sounds.

We close with "Rest (Refrain)" which brings back themes from the session had in an ambient context, mustering the mood of recovery, waking, confused in the gentle afternoon light, when memories and motifs from the night before linger on the mind in gentler forms.

Introducing Talk in Technicolour, the debut release of cross-continental imprint Night Tide. Produced by label founder Eluize (Emma Sainsbury), the EP features three original tracks that showcase her unique sound. The release is rounded out by remixes from Hans Berg & Seth NK and a trippy spoken word recording discovered while digging in the archives.

'Make Me Sin' swells and flows. It's a rapturous tale awash with cascading musical ideas, hypnotic rhythmic elements and a driving bottom end. This introspective cut combines orchestral instrumentation with breathy vocals from Eluize herself that sing of the lure of things that make us feel good.

'Talk in Technicolor', the title track, is self-explanatory. It's a dreamy and melodic club cut that packs a surprising amount of punch. The vast palette of sounds and fine details give it a cinematic quality not often heard in music aimed at the dance floor. We recommend you close your eyes while listening - let your mind drift and see what soaring colours float into view.

On the B side, 'Up All Night' is a sub-driven slow down. Unhurried and uncluttered, key and string lines float through open space while gentle vocals slide into the landscape, reflecting on sunsets that turn into sunrises. Hans Berg reinterprets the piece into a powerfully deep techno storm. His version is a relentless and energetic pairing of synth lines that whip and scatter over the original's playful melodic refrains. In other words, a monster that presents a not-so-subtle call to rave.

In addition, a batch of thirty records will come with a limited edition cassette. The tape features a remix of 'Up All Night' by Seth NK, the master of all things lo-fi. His version is a sleazy re-imagining with trashy drums and murky tones that weave through the silt. Turn the tape over and you'll find a bizarre recording of a young woman describing an LSD-induced psychedelic experience.

Move D's 'Building Bridges' is David Moufang's latest studio album. Building Bridges was recorded at reSource, Heidelberg between 1999-2019 except "One Small Step..." which was recorded at Thomas Fehlman's Space in Berlin

This album initially started out as an entry for the Inside Out series on Aus - based around the idea of collaborations with his nearest and dearest but when David sent me the music and wrote a few new tracks there was such a cohesive, timeless feel to it as a body of work I decided that it had to be a stand alone artist album. These tracks have been written over a twenty year period and involve 6 people but it sounds like it was written in one sitting. This is testament to David's creative aesthetic and the closeness of the relationship with his collaborators as a common feeling of warmth and smudged soul oozes out of every poor of this record. There is certainly not enough space to tell you all the great things about Move D we would love to share with you. Being the musical mind behind the legendary Source Records imprint, David Moufang has always been a versatile and prolific character. From ambient soundscapes to krautrocky epics, jazz sensibilities or straight up techno and house, he has done it all with his own special and unique touch. This lovely fingerprint is spread all over the "Cube EP". Intended as a tribute to Heidelberg's finest club night of the same name (don't mix it up with that other square project!) , Move D shots two arrows straight into your heart. "Cube" is one of those stripped down hypnotic affairs that seem to go on forever and ever just to surprise you with a nice breakdown, before it's groove sucks you in again. We guess this is what people mean, if they talk about the beauty of simplicity. "Heidelberg Gals" flips the script in three parts with an old school approach and turns into a monolithic house monster with a bassline to boot. Panache! Bust a Move D!

Fast-moving times, in which popularity and quality are often equated or commonly confused with one another, aids and abets this imitation game some call conformity, others professionalism. In the end, both paths will end up in predictability. Here's where Stathis Kalatzis, aka Mr. Statik, comes to play. The resident at Athens' multi-purpose cultural space Six D.O.G.S has not only been one of the scene's pivotal figures, but since he started to release his first solo releases in the mid-00s, the now Berlin-based Greek DJ has earned a reputation for being a trend-ignoring, unconventional producer.

Whether his output for BPitch Control, Rotary Cocktail, or even last year's debut EP "Rogue
Cherub" for AWAY - Mr. Statik enjoys thinking outside the box by crossing his diverse pop-cultural interests and pulling in expertise and perspective from beyond the usual functional formulas. After a decade of not staying in one comfort zone or sticking to one musical direction, he finds himself more comfortable in his producer shoes presenting his debut album "Metamorphose". Housing a few film references in this for Mr. Statik typical nebulous fashion, the ten tracks not only carrying the narrative potential of an imaginary score, but primarily exploring a versatile array of influences, themes, and contradictions (which Mr. Statik as an illustrator also united on the albums' artwork). Ranging from the sci-fi infused album opener "Insomnia", the first non-dancefloor piece he ever produced around 7 years ago, over "?atastrophe", an homage to ancient Greek theater, to collaborate with others such as Beatrice Ballabile, Jan Niklas Jansen (Locas In Love), and RBMA alumnus Claude Speeed, who contributed synth work on "Soulfur".

"Metamorphose" succeeds in constantly changing its tones, while maintaining an emotional
frame, in which Mr. Statik's melancholic, introvert, at times hopeful and euphoric, bottom end
inclined electronic music can elaborate.

MR. STATIK ON HIS ALBUM DEBUT:

"I have always tried to approach producing as storytelling exercises. This allowed me to
experiment finding myself in uncharted territories, more specifically in music that doesn't
necessarily fit to a dance floor - unless it's a very adventurous one. "Metamorphose'' is loyal to that mindset. I usually draw inspiration from cinema and comic books and have always been fascinated with sci-fi, south asian culture, surrealism and the dreamworld. Initially the album was supposed to be a collage of the various influences that had shaped my life, but ended up being something very different. During the conceptualization and recording process a lot of things around us have changed, primarily for the worse. I became more and more sensitive and susceptible to pessimism and trendy visions of "dystopian futurism", so that the LP emerged being an exercise in positivity: 'Metamorphose' is a verb describing the act of
conversion, but in Greeklish it is describes the urge towards others to start transforming their
environment, in this case for the better."

With previous contributions from Joe Claussell, Move D, Mr. Ties, Reagenz, Discrete Circuit and their very own AWAY Soundsystem, the Berlin label AWAY achieved a great deal of attention since its first release back in 2015. After having played at their infamous party series before, the Greek all-rounder Mr. Statik now also debuts as a producer on AWAY. Berlin collective AWAY ready the 4th release in their catalogue. Together they are doing extremely groovy, jazz infected dance music that connects the good things of 1990ies house with the indie disco of the 2000s.

Lars Dales & Lorenz Rhode connected through their mutual love for all things musically unusual. After years of having worked together on several projects, such as the Dam Swindle live show, they finally got around to making music together. The result has been nothing less than an avalanche of tracks, mostly made in 4 day coffee fueled studio sessions in Lorenz’ studio in Cologne. All reminding the big funk house tracks of the early 2000s. Yes a lot of Daft Punk is here, A lot of NYC disco influences. Larry Levan and Laurent Garnier, DJ Harvey and Masters at Work.. all influences on this record.

After their first two Sound Support EP’s on Prins Thomas’ label, Internasjonal, they’ve ventured out to House of Disco and other labels with a wide array of immensely enjoyable synth heavy tracks. 2023 sees these two venture more into house territory with releases on AUS music and Toy Tonics, two labels that have cemented themselves deeply into the underground scene. In any case, it’s clear that Sound Support have found its signature sound and there is much more of that to look forward to. We last left off with Complementary Minds dropping singles and EPs to keep telling their musical story. But now, we're hyped to present their new album, the second one, Complementary Minds Vol 2 (inevitably out on vinyl and of course on digital versions), it's picking up right where the first one left off and just like that one, it’s out on their label, Terapia Records. Complementary Minds Vol.2 is, as the duo has been treating us to lately, a subtle yet striking evolution from the first chapter of what, and we’re telling you this exclusively, will be a trilogy. The tracks are a mix of influences from all sorts of genres like Hip-Hop, Breakbeat, Electro, House, Acid Jazz and much more. But the compositional style here is more mature, even more aware and refined, less raw than the first album, which showcased their creative talent in an instinctive way. This is a big step in the musical maturity of Luca and Michele. As usual, they flaunt their passion for movies by stuffing the tracks with film references in the form of samples that we challenge you to find, giving you just a few hints: you'll find samples from The Goonies in “Goonietown", Natural Born Killers in "Born Dead” and even Fantozzi Contro Tutti, a wild obsession of our very own Luca, in the track "Rmx & Chips”! Continuing from the first album, the tracks on what should be the first side are named starting with C, so the second side is the D side, kicking off with “Goonietown" and its absolutely smashing four-on-the-floor groove. The dark and brooding mystical energy of "Kim Darkness" takes us into a different sound dimension, from which we inevitably emerge with the fresh vibes of the airy "Hey" and the mellow "Born Dead" before diving into the rhythmic coolness of "Rmx & Chips” which put the END word on the first side. D side starts with “King Of Korea” and its harmonic electro touch which perfectly sets up the following track, the short but intense "M-Time" and the esoteric crypticism of “Damn”. The breathless sprint of Complementary Minds sees the finish line approaching, but not before tackling the sonic leaps of a world crafted by their vintage touch and the late '80s rhythmic evolutions of the ruggedly classy "Explorer '85". “Ambient Kontakt” anticipates the 9th inning of this record with a touch of healthy weirdness, a must by the pair, and sets the stage for the fleeting and dreamy outro of the spacey "O" Omega for the Greek scholars, symbolizing the end, the final letter of the alphabet. The tune is inspired to Jerry Goldsmith’s majestic soundtracks; he composed, amongst others, the music for Alien and Rambo. Tresor Records is proud to announce forthcoming special editions of its entire catalogue of Drexciya and related projects. 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of James Stinson and the releases of the Transllusion and Shifted Phases albums. In recognition, the rightsholders, their families, and the label have commissioned Detroit-based contemporary artist Matthew Angelo Harrison to re-conceptualize the covers of Tresor's Drexciya-related catalogue. These editions will be released sequentially, bimonthly, starting early-September 2022.

The series starts with Neptune's Lair, first released in 1999, with the Hydro Doorways single arriving shortly after. In November, Harnessed The Storm and Digital Tsunami are coming. In 2023 comes the release of Transllusion in February. The series is completed by the long-awaited re-release of Shifted Phases - The Cosmic Memoirs Of The Late Great Rupert J. Rosinthrope - at the end of March.

These records, individually and as a catalogue, represent some of the most crucial moments in the Tresor label history, with the sound and mythic world of Drexciya undoubtedly inspiring generations.

QUAZAR are pioneers of the first house- and techno-generation of the early 90’s. Formed in Amsterdam by producer Gert van Veen, QUAZAR debuted in 1990 with the 12 inch ‘The Seven Stars/Day-glo’, which became an underground hit all over the world, from the UK and Germany to The USA, Goa and Australia. It’s still considered as one of the ultimate classics of the original rave-scene.
‘The Seven Stars’, a wild and exciting musical voyage, full of instrumental crescendoes and rushes, is a hard hitting techno-track that set dance floors on fire with its fierce energy.
The raw persuasive power of the a side and the acid tinged 'Moon Turns The Tide' is balanced by the gentle, melodic ‘Day-glo’ - a predecessor of the later minimal style and a favourite of Ricardo Villalobos, that unexpectedly became just as popular as ‘The Seven Stars’.
During the Amsterdam Dance Event 2024 ‘The Seven Stars EP'will be rereleased on vinyl, two weeks later followed by the rerelease of the first QUAZAR album ‘Seven Stars’.
‘The Seven Stars EP' 12" presents remastered versions of the three tracks on the original record plus a 2024 QUAZAR remake of ‘The Seven Stars’, mixed by Dutch house legend Olav Basoski.
To celebrate these releases, QUAZAR, still one of the best live-acts in the Netherlands, will do a special hardware-only live-gig at DOKA/The Volkshotel in Amsterdam on Wednesday October 16 2024.

On “Senses”, we see the pure talent of Crackazat come to life like never before. We’ve all danced to “Alfa” or his most recent hit on Heist “Demucha” and
have heard his venture into the more poppy side of things with his 2022 album ‘Evergreen’ on Freerange. “Senses” however, is on another level. Crackazat
takes you on a sonic journey exploring his musical personality with live keys, vocals, bass and production all coming from his studio in Uppsala, Sweden. The
jazzy horns that are featured throughout are recorded by Adeev and Ezra Potash, better known as the Potash twins. The duo took a sidestep from their
recordings with John Legend, Robert Glasper and even Diplo to dive into this project with Crackazat and help him deliver arguably his best work to date.
The 6-track album starts off with the low-slung groove of ‘I need to know’. The whole atmosphere is warm, dreamy and seems to be written to lift your spirits,
no matter where you are in life. Plucked strings, arpeggios and long horn notes give this song its energy, which is subtly supported by lo-fi drums and sparse
bass licks.
“Do you think about me”, keeps the energy tight with a lovely drum groove and a sparse bass section. From the first note of the track, you get the feeling like
the energy could change any moment. Halfway through this is exactly what happens, when uplifting keys and a buzzing lead take control of the track. The
string arrangement is subtle enough to never overshadow the other instrumentation, but simply adds a beautiful layer to a track that’s already filled with
emotion. It’s all smiles when the energy of this track is set loose!
If “Do you think about me” is Crackazat in pop mode, “Freddie’s Groove” is Crackazat in full-on jazz mode. The nod to Freddie Hubbard is clear, and
Crackazat cleverly takes ideas from both the jazz legend and his legendary French sampler, Pepe Bradock for this track. The horns are deep and moody, the
groove is jazz-house at its best and Crackazat’s soft vocals have the perfect amount of fragility to fit the groove. The changeover into a stabby synth section
halfway through the track is a subtle reminder from the skilled producer that – even with all these musical elements – he can direct you to the front of the
dancefloor with the twist of a note.
“Phantom” sees Crackazat move into a shuffling Latin-dance vibe. Here, the song reaches its full potential through the horn section, so it’s only fitting that this
is the feature track for the Potash Twins. The Latin rhythms are lush, the key progression is on point and the energy on this track just keeps on going with
layers and layers of horns, powerful vocal chops, and subtle but effective percussion changeovers.
“Endless life” is a track that feels like it’s building up momentum with every repetition. Whether it’s the broken beat groove, the offbeat keys or the sparse
horn hits, chord hits or leads, there’s a certain energy in this track that takes a hold of you and simply doesn’t let go.
The outro “When we last met” is built around vibey drunk keys and a downtempo hip-hop groove. There’s a hint of old school D’angelo in this track and you
can clearly hear the artist feels at ease with the path he’s taking the listener on. It’s a perfect ending to a record that showcases the beautiful world that
Crackazat has crafted through his compositions and one thing is for sure: This is an album we will all keep coming back to for a long time to come.

Len Faki recently put out his mammoth LP Fusion, but his new moniker Hardspace finds him harking back to his signature style of specifically editing tracks for his personal club usage.
Working on the album may have helped open him up creatively, but this new project has him investing countless hours and a lot of passion into building the most efficient club tracks imaginable.

Long-time fans of Faki know that he's always edited all of his sets' tracks to uniquely suit his personal mixing style, making his sets sound as tight and cohesive in a way that stands out from the rest. Decades of experience as a producer and DJ for the dancefloor have gone into these edits, re-arranging and re-mixing sometimes forgotten tracks for a new audience. Incorporating his singular understanding of frequencies and floor dynamics, Hardspace is meant to express this side of his musical personality, while Len Faki will continue to explore a more varied approach to producing.

Swapping a lot of weekends away busily touring for much more studio time, the result marks both a technical and also personal achievement for Faki. Improved production skills, tears and emotions all have been poured into Hardspace, which will see a slew of releases in the forthcoming months.

The first volume includes a total of six reworks, both previously unreleased tools of colleague Viers or Helena Hauff's modern acid chug, as well as some 90's classics from Perry & Rhodan, Resist 101 and Ectomorph. All of these tunes have been meticulously pieced together to keep the originals' flavor and ideas, but infuse them with the undeniable power and presence that all Faki produtions have come to hold.

Only released in October 2006, Anders Trentemøller‘s stunning debut-album „The Last Resort“ already evolved into one of the most successful independent albums of the year. Raving reviews all over the place, various elections as „album of the year“ and solid playlists at the radios express the huge interest in the fantastic album. While 2006 has been topped of with a tour through Australia, the first Trentemøller highlight in 2007 will be the release of „Moan“, the second single from the album. For the a-side Trentemøller himself created a brilliant remix of the „Moan“-Vocal Version, which has been released on the Bonus-CD of the limited edition album only. Trentemøller managed to keep the mystic melancholic vibe of the track featuring the vocals of danish talent Ane Trolle, but adds punshy drums, screaming synths and some more guitars to guarantee serious dancefloor-action. Radioslave aka Matt Edwards aka Rekid aka Quite Village, on of the most in demand remix artists at the moment (Moby, Booka Shade, Justice, Peace Division, Pet Shop Boys, Joakim etc) contributed a great remix on the flipside. Slowly building over reduced drumpatterns their mix culminates into a manic wall of sound. While Poker Flat 81 features the vocal versions of both Trentemøller‘s and Radioslve‘s remixes, the instrumental and dub versions will be released simultaneously
