Before his debut studio full-length, Dubbyman racked up a remarkable discography of dance singles and remixes. He has been away for a little while, but his new 10-tracker album is the perfect tool for him to make his anticipated return. "Deep is dead" is a fascinating mix of organic and synthetic, past and present, smoothness and eclectic, darkness and brightness. The Spanish producer has veered away from those dub-heavy and dark atmospheric deep stylings, and instead has ventured into much classic house and musically territory. London-based deep house label Ornate Music come through with another gem in the shape of the latest EP from Dubbyman, filled with robust, beatdown grooves. The EP opens with "Time & Sensibility", creating an all-enveloping atmosphere with its oven-warm pads and rich analogue bass, punctuated with jazzy chords and vocal murmurings. "Kirigi Is Coming", meanwhile, showcases Dubbyman's excellent knack for crafting Moodymann style textures with the depth to boot, combining a solid rhythmic snap with drawn out vocal landscapes and Detroit-referencing melodies. Finally "Uuuuhhhh!!!!" closes the EP with its breathy intro and low slung filtered grooves combining with bubbling laser sound effects.

This latest 12" Release by Spain's "Dubbyman" (head of Deep Explorer Music), brings us some serious deep early morning house grooves, filled with overwhelming warmth and sensational sweet melodies. Each down-tempo track, focuses around an overall strong groove, that will get you feet whip and get your heads turning, while soulful voice snippets flirt with your ears. Dubbyman is at his best on this "Dubless EP" and surely proves to be a man to look out for. The ep also features a remix of "Loveless" by his brother Above Smoke, that takes the original mix more into a clubby 4/4 vein and nicely gives a round up to this. From the UK, South Africa, France and Australia, Inner Shift Music presents their Collective Continents II release, with Mark Hand, Platform 001, G-Prod and Leo Gunn. The EP starts with Take Some Chances which has Jazz influenced pads, chords and changes with an addictive hook, by Mark Hand who has recent releases on Soul Print and Apollo. Next comes The Last Letter by newcomer Platform 001 - a deep house track with some funk style house chords and an inspiring spoken word poem, which holds the listener's attention throughout.
On the B side we have the Gaugain brothers G-Prod (who have releases on R&S and Nightflight), with their track Horizon which has a more techy feel with its moody pads, melodic lead and subtle but driving bassline. The EP is complete with a whole other level of head-nodding depth and warmth, with Aheeoo which you would come to expect from Leo Gunn, who is noted for his multiple appearances on Deep Explorer.

The first Inner Shift encounter with Ewan Jansen was several years ago on a pair of test pressings, from Mike Grant of Moods and Grooves. The label hadn't even begun yet, but Ewan created a huge impression and wasn't to be forgotten by them later. Ffwd to 2016/17, Enter: "Return to Hyperbola". The first track in, you get a good tech house / deep house vibe called 'Docking Lane', fully equipped with lovely atmospheres, a driving kick and intelligent chords. Next is Bulkhead, mainly defined by a full-sounding, broken beat rhythm and expressive keyboards. B1 is 'Deceleration', another 4-4 deep house number, but with a subtle quirkiness and over all moody feel. On the B2 is 'Perspex', featuring a funky bass, nice pads and elevating keyboard part. Don't miss out, Ewan never fails to impress.

For their sixth release, Inner Shift Music are proud to present their second various artists compilation. It features four different tracks from different producers each bringing their own unique yet interconnected deep sound to the EP. You may have heard of Jacksonville already, from his superb track (Tokyo) for Atmospheric Existence, as well as releases on his own imprint Doppler records. Following him is the very talented Jose Lau of Deepselect Records from California, bringing with him his signature, warm, intelligent sound, who not surprisingly had a recent release on Pulp. Next is the mysterious duo Gauss, who you probably know about from their imprint of the same name. Their rather excellent track brings a more techy edge to the EP. To finalise the deal, we get a stunning, lush, melodic track from Marco Nega, who had a recent release on Bumako.

Gene Hunt is a prolific producer with an un-mistakable sound of his own. And although an originator of the acid house sound from Chicago, he certainly didn't stop there. His music has naturally evolved over the years, often incorporating more mature melody and rhythm structures, but always in time with a proper underground style dance track. These tracks are a perfect fit for the direction and vision of the Inner Shift Music label as well, and for this reason we are pleased to present you with "Planted Seeds" by Gene Hunt.
