Jonny Rock delivers two eclectic, dance floor driven gems which will no doubt firmly secure themselves in many a DJ’s record bag. Illusively named A1, the first track on the EP showcases Jonnys canny sampling ability. Playing with familiar sounds to create a unique and elating edit, Jonny shows us why he’s one of the best around. B1 is a sordid late night roller, primed and ready to shake up the underground dance floors. DJs will wanna keep this one on the back burner. Jonny Rock is somewhat of a sorcerer, an omnipresent eye that gathers secret ingredients from far and wide—old school House oddities, hypnotic melodies of the Orient, the furthest reaches of Disco, the easy pace of Turkish psychedelic funk—fusing it all into his own shrouded code, a string of immaterial messages, both subliminal and lucid, that highlight his eccentric sense of storytelling and nuance. He imbues a sense of familiarity in his music, implying history that might not be studied but still feels learned, a quality inherent to productions born from a vast catalog of influence (and the inseparable sample material). Jonny conjures euphoric acid flashbacks, herds of crowds through Istanbul alleys, the misty morning residue from raves of yore, orchestral winds blown across the Aegean riviera, and he manages to concentrate their essence into singular details such as a snare drum. Both sides of his eternally-awaited ESP debut lean toward his dark arts—'Tye Die Techno' drives a relentless hard-edged drum kit that could throw an otherwise self-respecting Goth into a heated breakdance battle, while the title track and theme, 'Ode To A Happening On Earth,' plays with the imagery of ritual, fantasy and role-playing—but throughout this malevolent stew, there is a sustained hint of the artist’s playful nature. No matter how murky the trip becomes, Jonny is always there, a light at the end of the tunnel, with a big hug to reassure that everyone will be OK. He is one clever bastard—if you know, you know.

'Digital Tsunami', the reissue series continues with Transllusion’s ‘Opening Of The Cerebral Gate’ and the
‘Mind Over Positive And Negative Dimensional Matter’ 12” coming on February 10th 2023.
Produced by the late James Marcel Stinson and released in 2001 via Supremat, a short-lived sub-label Tresor
dedicated to a more abstract and experimental electro sound, ‘The Opening Of The Cerebral Gate’ was conceived as the second part of the so-called Drexciyan Storms – a whopping stack of seven albums by the
Detroit pair released under di erent monikers within a single year. This phase marks a groundbreaking time
for the duo, their cosmos breaking wide open, right at the dawn of a new technological era in electronic music

Drexciya-related catalogue. These editions will be released sequentially, bimonthly, starting early-September

Late Great Rupert J. Rosinthrope' - at the end of March.

Rome based production maestro and DJ extraordinaire Donato Dozzy is unanimously considered as an illustrious
leading light in all techno artforms.
Along his long career and extensive discography, Dozzy has proven to use his instruments most interesting ways,
always re-inventing his music, always presenting new approaches to both the deeper and the more rhythmic
forms of electronic music. It was self-evident to Tresor Records to enroll Donato Dozzy’s talents for this
assignment, a nod to the seminal Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer.
The result is a relentless collection of radical, propulsive and bleeding-heart acid tracks. In Dozzy’s words.

Today sees Belgian-Caribbean provocateur Charlotte Adigéry and her long-term musical partner, Bolis Pupul announce their debut album Topical Dancer, due for release on March 4 2022 via Soulwax’s iconic label DEEWEE.
Cultural appropriation. Misogyny and racism. Social media vanity. Post-colonialism and political correctness. These are not talking points that you’d ordinarily hear on the dancefloor but Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul are ripping up the rulebook with their debut album Topical Dancer. The Ghent-based duo, who broke out with their 2019 Zandoli EP, are rare storytellers in electronic music: they take the temperature of the time and funnel them into their playful synth concoctions – never didactic and always with a knowing wink.
Their debut studio record – which cements them as a duo under both their names for the first time and is co-written and co-produced by Soulwax – is both a triumph of kaleidoscopic electro-pop and “a snapshot of how we think about pop culture in the 2020s.” It captures Charlotte and Bolis’s essence as musical collaborators and the conversations they’ve had over the past two years on tour, as well as their perspectives as Belgians with an immigrant background, Charlotte with Guadeloupean and French-Martinique ancestry and Bolis being of Chinese descent.
Beyond the album’s thematic heft, Topical Dancer reflects Charlotte and Bolis’s idiosyncratic sound: it’s thoughtful but it bangs. Their take on familiar genres is always off-kilter; songs sound undone or a little wonky; but these are nocturnal heaters to make the club throb. “We like to fuck things up a bit,” laughs Bolis. “We cringe when we feel like we're making something that already exists, so we're always looking for things to combine to make it sound not like a pop song, not like an R&B song, not a techno song. We’re always putting different worlds together. Charlotte and I get bored when things get too predictable.”
Topical Dancer is fizzing with ideas – there’s certainly no filler among its 13 tracks. But above all, perhaps, it has a restlessness, a desire not to be boxed in and to escape others’ narrow perceptions of who they are. It’s summarised by the refrain of their new single, ‘Blenda’: “Don’t sound like what I look like / Don’t look like what I sound like.” “One thing that always comes up,” says Bolis, “is that people perceive me as the producer, and Charlotte as just a singer. Or that being a Black artist means you should be making ‘urban’ music. Those kinds of boxes don’t feel good to us.”
‘Blenda’ in particular references how “I am a product of colonialism,” says Charlotte, “and I feel guilty for taking up space in a white country.” The song was inspired in part by Reni Eddo-Lodge’s book Why I’m Not Longer Talking To White People About Race. “It talks about the colonial past and post-colonial present in the UK,” Charlotte continues, “but that isn’t merely a British or American problem, Belgium is part of that as well.” She says that her home country is likewise “oblivious to a big part of its history” which “results in general ignorance and a lack of understanding and empathy towards Belgian inhabitants of immigrant descent.”
On Topical Dancer, it’s less about finger pointing or being dogmatic about all the things they speak about. It’s about emancipation through humour. “I don’t want to feel this heaviness on me,” says Charlotte. “These aren’t my crosses to bear. Topical Dancer is my way of freeing myself of these issues. And of having fun.”

In contrasting fashion the bleep- driven Lost Lakes sticks to its metronomic stomp, making for a simple yet utterly effective tool. Choral howls and detuned synths merge on Transform for a gentle yet trance-inducing introduction to the flipside. Emotive highlight Rain then sees the Manchester producer sonically recreate a thundering storm, complete with flashing strokes of lightning and a downpour of celestial scale. The breakbeat returns on closer Flying Buttress, albeit now at much faster tempo, exploring the common ground between futuristic grime and techno.
Blending all these different styles and their distinctive tropes in a coherent statement is a feat not easily accomplished. Yet here Seatoc Mass pulls it off again, developing further the confines of both his personal and the label's sound.

Bhasmantan - as this body is turned to ash - is the moniker of elusive artist Giuseppe Piol.
In the mid 90s the Italian dance scene was evolving, steering away from the usual Dream House formula, changing and adapting to new sounds and new ideas. Like other fellow electronic music producers, Piol at the time was going through a “psychonautic” period of his life, experimenting simultaneously with new hardware in the studio and psychoactive substances at illegal rave parties. This whirlpool of stimulating experiences gave light to one of the most sophisticated and esoteric Italian techno records, the namesake Bhasmantan #3 (published originally by Spock in 1996).

Bhasmantan - as this body is turned to ash - is the moniker of elusive artist Giuseppe Piol.
In the mid 90s the Italian dance scene was evolving, steering away from the usual Dream House formula, changing and adapting to new sounds and new ideas. Like other fellow electronic music producers, Piol at the time was going through a “psychonautic” period of his life, experimenting simultaneously with new hardware in the studio and psychoactive substances at illegal rave parties. This whirlpool of stimulating experiences gave light to one of the most sophisticated and esoteric Italian techno records, the namesake Bhasmantan #3 (published originally by Spock in 1996).
