Midnight Operators is back with its second release, which is also the first vinyl to be released on this imprint. Dominik Marz has his label debut with a solid four-tracker, delivering his signature blend of Avantgarde House and Indie Dance. A1 Dominik Marz blends melancholic arpeggios and gloomy pads with a rock-solid groove to what is the title track of his four-track vinyl debut on Midnight Operators. A2 A driving baseline and howling synths already are a match made in heaven, but Dominik Marz manages to take the track up a notch when he brings in distorted leads together slightly shuffled percussion. B1 Dominik Marz opens with straightforward percussive and melodic elements immediately catch the listeners' attention, only to surprise him when he intertwines these with another harmonic layer and triplet rhythmic elements. B2 This track comes with wonky pads and a haunty aura, slowly building up tension and eeriness. Dominik Marz manages to maintain this particularly blood-curdling atmosphere, despite the backbone of a catchy groove and steady baseline.

DOMINIK might be known as a resident DJ of the CLUB SCHWARZES SCHAF in his hometown AUGSBURG. There he started throwing parties alongside DANIEL BORTZ and developed his style of DJing. Over the past years DOMINIK released music on labels like PASTAMUSIK, SUOL, LIEBE DETAIL and O*RS. He is also part of YANDOM ( a project together with YANNICK LABBÉ). DOMINIK’s productions are influenced by various kinds of music, let it be techno, house, disco or electronica – a mixture you can hear on his recent TRYADS EP on &ND MUSIC. A sound already loved and played by the likes of SBTH, BARNT, MARVIN & GUY, AERA and many more. At the moment DOMINIK is working on EPs following his EP on &ND MUSIC, both solo and as YANDOM.

We met Moonilena in Stockholm a few years ago. Pedrodollar told us that she plays weird music and we'd get along - he was completely correct. The subsequent mixtape she put together for the Rinse FM show became a total obsession and it wasn't until months later that we found out some of our favourite tracks included were unreleased, so here we are a year or so later and we hope it soothes and uplifts you in equal measure.

After releasing Wraetlic's seminal 'Ad Absurdum' earlier in the year on Huntleys + Palmers, we're very pleased to have arranged for the entire album to be remixed by friends, associates and artists we've long time admired. These will drop over the remainder of the year on Belters and we're very excited to hear and share all these new interpretations. The first one is easily the heaviest record on Belters to date. Headed up by Hodge, who can do no wrong to our ears and as expected, he's turned in a stomper. This is well matched with the thundering effort by Toronto-via-Cairo's DINA. On the other side, Deena Abdelwahed does the damage with a wonky number, alongside Glasgow's boy wonder, Pseudopolis who drops the pace but keeps the heat.

2019 is shaping up to be a great year yet with more of the same focus on championing new and emerging artists; alongside the more established. But before all that.. Belfast is the first port of call as DJ and producer Jordan delivers a variety of party thumpers. With thanks to AVA festival and the invincible Bicep going from strength to strength; the Belfast scene is enjoying a moment with the likes of Bobby Analog, Cromby and Hammer all breaking through to greater recognition. Jordan has equally been keeping busy between releases on Abandon Silence and launching his own edits label through Lobster Theremin.. So the stars are aligning for this release, which typifies what the label is about. Each track could easily be the ‘A1’ and it’s already been doing the damage with the likes of Tim Sweeney, Erol Alkan and a select few, until now.. Expect to hear much more from each over the year ahead.

Like all great music, it's difficult to pinpoint what this sounds like exactly - but Toronto's Block Univers have cited their influences to include "boogie, house music, cold wave synths, gospel vocals, 808s and moog basslines" - so that would go some way to explaining the magic here. After kicking off the year with releases by Wheelman and General Ludd, we’re very pleased to announce that Naum Gabo completes our recent trilogy of releases from Glasgow based artists. Alongside Ivan Smagghe, it’s no secret that Optimo have been a huge influence around these parts and having released Ivan’s Smagghe & Cross project on Belters last year, it’s a huge honour to work with Naum Gabo - the production partnership of Jonnie Wilkes (JG Wikes of Optimo) and James Savage (Mastering Engineer for Optimo Music). Fittingly enough, Naum Gabo played live at the first ever Optimo related parties we attended at the Sub Club back in 2005 and Jonnie’s influential and supportive presence has been felt over the years as we started to become more involved in the Glasgow scene and as the label developed. So it didn’t require much thought to do this release before we had even heard these new Naum Gabo tracks…they are absolute slammers of the highest order! Really big release, bringing to our minds the likes of Errorsmith. Belters is a new club-focussed label brought to you by Huntleys + Palmers.

As Huntleys + Palmers events has drawn to a close, 2018 will see a big focus in releasing some brilliant new music and introducing some amazing new artists. First up is Wheelman - straight out of Glasgow and fresh off the back of his debut for our Studio Barnhus buddies. To our shame, it took a Kornel Kovacs trip to Rubadub to bring to our attention a real talent who was under our now the whole time! He'd even been to a bunch of our parties and we'd never made the connection.. Righting this wrong, we promptly hit him up for music to include on a 'Clyde Built' compilation and they were so good, we designated the bulk of these tracks to this release - 5 absolute BELTERS!

As part of our 10th anniversary this year, Huntleys + Palmers are very excited to present a special release with a combination of our musical influences old and new ~
Smagghe & Cross feat. Matthew Herbert + Remixes. Ivan Smagghe has been a long time influence on the H+P world and we're huge fans of his new Smagghe & Cross project with the film composer and programmer, Rupert Cross. Not only that, but one of the tracks features another hero, Matthew Herbert - making a rare appearance on vocals (and sounding pretty Robert Wyatt-esque in the process). Additionally, we're really chuffed to have commissioned a Honey Soundsystem Generator remix by Jackie House, super-Swedes, Samo DJ & Pedrodollar turn in a trippy groover, AND have enlisted the services of the DJ who played the first ever H+P party back in 2007, Pilooski - completing another circle during the 10th anniversary year..
