And in the final days of Great Butane, the country pulled itself asunder. Brother turned on brother, friend on friend, mother on child. In sweltering squash courts, high achievers dashed their racquets against the bright walls, grasping the graphite splinters and driving them, remorseless, into their opponent’s heartless cavities. In airless, air conditioned studios, televisual presenters frothed and roared. Their eye balls foamed and their teeth melted, the viscous gloop rolling down their quivering chins like the tears of a chastised child. The poor plodded on, selling trinkets to strangers, and gossiping bollocks, barely noticing the hordes of ravenous aristocrats that circled, blue blood thrumming with the desire for cheap flesh. As the asphalt blazed and the tides of techwaste rose, SMAGGHE & CROSS were prepared. They went to the special shed and untethered the special boat. They hoisted the mainsail and set the controls for the heart of Tir Na Nog. They performed the navigation rituals that had been passed from initiate to initiate. They observed the stations of the cross, they consulted the oracle GLOWING PALMS, they gathered knowledge of the dark arts of sea-faring and piracy from DAVID of THE JUNTO CLUB*, and they dashed caution to the wind. A burning world at their backs, a universe at their feet, they set sail. They set sail into the night, through the day and beyond. They passed through sleep and dream, then through the crack found at the break of the day. They found themselves in the land that had been foretold. They were on their way ………… they were on their way ………… to PARADISO.

We met Moonilena in Stockholm a few years ago. Pedrodollar told us that she plays weird music and we'd get along - he was completely correct. The subsequent mixtape she put together for the Rinse FM show became a total obsession and it wasn't until months later that we found out some of our favourite tracks included were unreleased, so here we are a year or so later and we hope it soothes and uplifts you in equal measure. Our first Belters record of the year is our third outing by our man from Ausburg, Dominik Marz, and this could well be his best yet - with 4 rock solid big room hitters. These have been doing the damage with Dixon, Ame and Solomun for the past few months and recently been given some airtime by the bold Pete Tong. More

At long last we're delighted to release some nuggets we've been sitting on by our Lithuanian friend for some time now. 'Kalista' first appeared on our Dekmantel podcast and has been prompting enquiries about it ever since. The others were pretty much good to go, but something felt missing.. One day we received 'My Personal' out of the blue and now we're off to the races! Very happy to share these with the wider world. More

After releasing Wraetlic's seminal 'Ad Absurdum' earlier in the year on Huntleys + Palmers, we're very pleased to have arranged for the entire album to be remixed by friends, associates and artists we've long time admired. These will drop over the remainder of the year on Belters and we're very excited to hear and share all these new interpretations. The first one is easily the heaviest record on Belters to date. Headed up by Hodge, who can do no wrong to our ears and as expected, he's turned in a stomper. This is well matched with the thundering effort by Toronto-via-Cairo's DINA. On the other side, Deena Abdelwahed does the damage with a wonky number, alongside Glasgow's boy wonder, Pseudopolis who drops the pace but keeps the heat. More

We're very happy to announce that DrumTalk is back! He never fully went away, but we're excited to share the results as he ambles into different directions with slower tempos on one side, and faster on the other - while still sounding as vibrant as ever.. More

2019 is shaping up to be a great year yet with more of the same focus on championing new and emerging artists; alongside the more established. But before all that.. Belfast is the first port of call as DJ and producer Jordan delivers a variety of party thumpers. With thanks to AVA festival and the invincible Bicep going from strength to strength; the Belfast scene is enjoying a moment with the likes of Bobby Analog, Cromby and Hammer all breaking through to greater recognition. Jordan has equally been keeping busy between releases on Abandon Silence and launching his own edits label through Lobster Theremin.. So the stars are aligning for this release, which typifies what the label is about. Each track could easily be the ‘A1’ and it’s already been doing the damage with the likes of Tim Sweeney, Erol Alkan and a select few, until now.. Expect to hear much more from each over the year ahead. More

New Belters straight out of Barvaria! In a nice bit of serendipity, our old pal Bostro Pesopeo (BLTRS010) introduced us to his Barvarian buddies, Dominik Marz & David Kochs. Who subsequently sent us some outstanding new music that we signed on the spot and for the first outing, we're very happy to complete the circle with a remix by Bostro himself. With early support from the likes of Ame - who has seemingly been playing the whole release - you're sure to be hearing a lot more of these youngsters in the coming years. More

Like all great music, it's difficult to pinpoint what this sounds like exactly - but Toronto's Block Univers have cited their influences to include "boogie, house music, cold wave synths, gospel vocals, 808s and moog basslines" - so that would go some way to explaining the magic here. We tried to jam in as many of our favourites on this release as possible. More BANG for your buck! More

On our tenth Belters outing, we're borrowing the mighty fine Bostro Pesopeo from Permanent Vacation.. we've been big admirers of his music for many years now and he contributed to our mix series back in the day. These particular tracks were actually ones he gave away on Soundcloud and we immediately messaged him saying we'd release them. Took a while, but here there are. After kicking off the year with releases by Wheelman and General Ludd, we’re very pleased to announce that Naum Gabo completes our recent trilogy of releases from Glasgow based artists. Alongside Ivan Smagghe, it’s no secret that Optimo have been a huge influence around these parts and having released Ivan’s Smagghe & Cross project on Belters last year, it’s a huge honour to work with Naum Gabo - the production partnership of Jonnie Wilkes (JG Wikes of Optimo) and James Savage (Mastering Engineer for Optimo Music). Fittingly enough, Naum Gabo played live at the first ever Optimo related parties we attended at the Sub Club back in 2005 and Jonnie’s influential and supportive presence has been felt over the years as we started to become more involved in the Glasgow scene and as the label developed. So it didn’t require much thought to do this release before we had even heard these new Naum Gabo tracks…they are absolute slammers of the highest order! Really big release, bringing to our minds the likes of Errorsmith. Belters is a new club-focussed label brought to you by Huntleys + Palmers. More

We've been big fans of General Ludd from the start and are delighted to finally release something from them. These three tracks were made specifically to be played live during their Panorama Bar debut and it's pretty easy to imagine them rocking the joint! Superb dark and trippy groovers destined to go straight in the bag of Craig Richards and Ricardo. More

As Huntleys + Palmers events has drawn to a close, 2018 will see a big focus in releasing some brilliant new music and introducing some amazing new artists. First up is Wheelman - straight out of Glasgow and fresh off the back of his debut for our Studio Barnhus buddies. To our shame, it took a Kornel Kovacs trip to Rubadub to bring to our attention a real talent who was under our now the whole time! He'd even been to a bunch of our parties and we'd never made the connection.. Righting this wrong, we promptly hit him up for music to include on a 'Clyde Built' compilation and they were so good, we designated the bulk of these tracks to this release - 5 absolute BELTERS! More
