Operating from the heart of Brooklyn, NY, the latest artist to sign up to Ornate is Jordan, whose plush deep house sound has already surfaced via a collaboration with Fred P on the Deep Explorer compilation Far & Beyond. Living on the border of the Bushwick and Ridgewood neighbourhoods, the title of the EP is a nod to the difference Jordan sees between his own spiritual, detailed work and the trend for rougher analogue sounds that have been sweeping the city he calls home. With a focus on expressive, richly melodic synths and delicately balanced rhythms, his music stands apart from the wave of guttural lo-fi sonics, and yet this is still house music with that East coast punch where it counts. With an imminent release for the noted Finale Sounds imprint establishing Jordan well within the remit of high-end house and techno, it gives us great pleasure to present these exercises in soulful immersion, from the three 4/4 driven pieces to the ambient vignette "Visage". With the door open for more experimental interpretations, it made perfect sense to invite former Ornate guest Leif back to turn out a remix of the track, his own hushed tones having recently graced a critically-acclaimed debut album for Fear Of Flying. It's the ideal complement to an EP of highly developed musicianship that spells another exciting step forward for both Jordan and Ornate. More

We met Moonilena in Stockholm a few years ago. Pedrodollar told us that she plays weird music and we'd get along - he was completely correct. The subsequent mixtape she put together for the Rinse FM show became a total obsession and it wasn't until months later that we found out some of our favourite tracks included were unreleased, so here we are a year or so later and we hope it soothes and uplifts you in equal measure. After releasing Wraetlic's seminal 'Ad Absurdum' earlier in the year on Huntleys + Palmers, we're very pleased to have arranged for the entire album to be remixed by friends, associates and artists we've long time admired. These will drop over the remainder of the year on Belters and we're very excited to hear and share all these new interpretations. The first one is easily the heaviest record on Belters to date. Headed up by Hodge, who can do no wrong to our ears and as expected, he's turned in a stomper. This is well matched with the thundering effort by Toronto-via-Cairo's DINA. On the other side, Deena Abdelwahed does the damage with a wonky number, alongside Glasgow's boy wonder, Pseudopolis who drops the pace but keeps the heat. More

New Belters straight out of Barvaria! In a nice bit of serendipity, our old pal Bostro Pesopeo (BLTRS010) introduced us to his Barvarian buddies, Dominik Marz & David Kochs. Who subsequently sent us some outstanding new music that we signed on the spot and for the first outing, we're very happy to complete the circle with a remix by Bostro himself. With early support from the likes of Ame - who has seemingly been playing the whole release - you're sure to be hearing a lot more of these youngsters in the coming years. More

Like all great music, it's difficult to pinpoint what this sounds like exactly - but Toronto's Block Univers have cited their influences to include "boogie, house music, cold wave synths, gospel vocals, 808s and moog basslines" - so that would go some way to explaining the magic here. After kicking off the year with releases by Wheelman and General Ludd, we’re very pleased to announce that Naum Gabo completes our recent trilogy of releases from Glasgow based artists. Alongside Ivan Smagghe, it’s no secret that Optimo have been a huge influence around these parts and having released Ivan’s Smagghe & Cross project on Belters last year, it’s a huge honour to work with Naum Gabo - the production partnership of Jonnie Wilkes (JG Wikes of Optimo) and James Savage (Mastering Engineer for Optimo Music). Fittingly enough, Naum Gabo played live at the first ever Optimo related parties we attended at the Sub Club back in 2005 and Jonnie’s influential and supportive presence has been felt over the years as we started to become more involved in the Glasgow scene and as the label developed. So it didn’t require much thought to do this release before we had even heard these new Naum Gabo tracks…they are absolute slammers of the highest order! Really big release, bringing to our minds the likes of Errorsmith. Belters is a new club-focussed label brought to you by Huntleys + Palmers. More

We've been big fans of General Ludd from the start and are delighted to finally release something from them. These three tracks were made specifically to be played live during their Panorama Bar debut and it's pretty easy to imagine them rocking the joint! Superb dark and trippy groovers destined to go straight in the bag of Craig Richards and Ricardo. More

As Huntleys + Palmers events has drawn to a close, 2018 will see a big focus in releasing some brilliant new music and introducing some amazing new artists. First up is Wheelman - straight out of Glasgow and fresh off the back of his debut for our Studio Barnhus buddies. To our shame, it took a Kornel Kovacs trip to Rubadub to bring to our attention a real talent who was under our now the whole time! He'd even been to a bunch of our parties and we'd never made the connection.. Righting this wrong, we promptly hit him up for music to include on a 'Clyde Built' compilation and they were so good, we designated the bulk of these tracks to this release - 5 absolute BELTERS! Ivan Smagghe has been a long time influence on the H+P world and we're huge fans of his new Smagghe & Cross project with the film composer and programmer, Rupert Cross. Not only that, but one of the tracks features another hero, Matthew Herbert - making a rare appearance on vocals (and sounding pretty Robert Wyatt-esque in the process). Additionally, we're really chuffed to have commissioned a Honey Soundsystem Generator remix by Jackie House, super-Swedes, Samo DJ & Pedrodollar turn in a trippy groover, AND have enlisted the services of the DJ who played the first ever H+P party back in 2007, Pilooski - completing another circle during the 10th anniversary year..
