John Carpenter’s soundtracks for the most recent Halloween trilogy, made alongside his frequent collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, marked the legendary director and composer’s return to film scoring after nearly two decades away. 2018’s Halloween, 2021’s Halloween Kills, and 2022’s Halloween Ends were all directed by David Gordon Green, who engaged Carpenter early in the pre-production process, ultimately enlisting him as both an executive producer and soundtrack composer for the trilogy.
In listening to the recent Halloween scores, the collaborative spirit among the composing trio is one of the first things that jumps out. The now-famous bowed guitar part on Halloween’s “The Shape Hunts Allyson,” like all the guitar parts strewn across the trilogy, is played by Daniel Davies. John calls Daniel “the adventurer” of the group, and credits him with introducing sounds he’d never have considered. Cody, who his father refers to as a “musical savant,” is an equally essential presence. It’s his steady, methodical hand that helps give shape to the ideas that fly around when these three get in a room together. The scores for the new films may be centered on familiar themes, but they’re also a lot more sonically diverse and musically audacious than anything John could have pulled off in 1978, when he made the original Halloween.
In addition to the individual expanded releases, the Halloween Expanded Trilogy will be available as part of a deluxe limited box set, offered in 6xLP and 3xCD formats. These editions feature exclusive new packaging and artwork by Chris Bilheimer, along with expansive liner notes by music critic Brad Sanders, which include exclusive interviews with John Carpenter and director David Gordon Green. Also included on both box sets are three collectible posters designed by Creepy Duck, a box set-exclusive poster design by Chris Bilheimer, and a deluxe lenticular cover that brings the artwork to life.
An essential release for Carpenter collectors & film score fans.
- Includes all 3 Expanded Editions of the Halloween Trilogy
- All with new artwork & packaging by Chris Bilheimer
- 121 tracks out of which 35 unreleased tracks across 6xLPs
- Exclusive liner notes & interviews with John Carpenter & David Gordon Green

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lost Themes, Sacred Bones are thrilled to present an expanded art edition of the album with art by Greg Ruth. This special release includes an additional 7-inch featuring two previously unreleased tracks from the original recording session _ "Cruisin' With Mr. Scratch" and "Dominator." Upon its initial release, Lost Themes was praised for its evocative soundscapes ranging from horror to science fiction, each track conjuring a distinct atmosphere without the need for accompanying visuals. The expanded edition of Lost Themes not only celebrates a decade of John Carpenter's standalone musical journey but also enriches the album's legacy with new material that captures the spirit of its original sessions. Whether revisiting this masterpiece or experiencing it for the first time, listeners will find themselves immersed in Carpenter's hauntingly beautiful worlds once again.

It’s been a decade since John Carpenter recorded the material that would become Lost Themes, his debut album of non-film music and the opening salvo in one of Hollywood’s great second acts. Those vibrant, synth-driven songs, made in collaboration with his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, kickstarted a musical renaissance for the pioneering composer and director. In the years since, Carpenter, Carpenter, and Davies have released close to a dozen musical projects, including a growing library of studio albums and the scores for David Gordon Green’s trilogy of Halloween reboots. With Lost Themes IV: Noir, they’ve struck gold again, this time mining the rich history of the film noir genre for inspiration.
Since the first Lost Themes, John has referred to these compositions as “soundtracks for the movies in your mind.” On the fourth installment in the series, those movies are noirs. Like the film genre they were influenced by, what makes these songs “noirish” is sometimes slippery and hard to define, and not merely reducible to a collection of tropes. The scores for the great American noir pictures were largely orchestral, while the Carpenters and Davies work off a sturdy synth-and-guitar backbone. The noir quality, then, is something you understand instinctively when you hear it. “Some of the music is heavy guitar riffs, which is not in old noir films,” Davies notes. “But somehow, it’s connected in an emotional way.”
The trio’s free-flowing chemistry means Lost Themes IV: Noir runs like a well-oiled machine—the 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster from Kiss Me Deadly, perhaps, or the 1958 Plymouth Fury from John’s own Christine. It’s a chemistry that’s helped power one of the most productive stretches of John’s creative life, and Noir proves that it’s nowhere near done yielding brilliant results.
“This is who we are, I think,” John summarizes. “Daniel’s the adventurer. He pushes for new sounds, new directions. He tries things that I haven’t thought of. He’s a lot more daring than I am, and he enriches the whole thing. Cody’s the musician. He’s a savant at music. He understands music. We depend on him to rescue us.”
And what about John’s contribution? With characteristic understatement, he concludes: “I’m the experience. I’ve done music for movies before.”

By now everyone should know, John Carpenter is not only a celebrated filmmaker but also a musical maestro whose soundtracks have become synonymous with the genres of horror, suspense, and science fiction.
Anthology II (Movie Themes 1976-1988) continues the celebration of his compositional genius via an excellently sequenced collection of some of his most iconic pieces of music from his extensive filmography, all newly recorded with his musical collaborators Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter.
The compilation includes selections from Escape From New York, Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing, They Live, Assault on Precinct 13, Prince of Darkness, The Fog, Halloween (and its sequels), and beyond. Among its highlights are the three lost cues from The Thing, previously unreleased and now re-recorded. The Thing marks one of the rare occasions that John Carpenter stepped away from scoring duties and entrusted the task to another composer, the legendary Ennio Morricone. Upon receiving Morricone’s score Carpenter felt that the film would benefit from the inclusion of additional music and took the initiative to record and insert multiple synth driven cues.
Anthology II (Movie Themes 1976-1988) represents just a fraction of John Carpenter's impressive musical repertoire. His ability to capture the essence of his films through evocative melodies, atmospheric soundscapes, and innovative use of synths has solidified his status as one of the most influential composers in the history of cinema. With each haunting note and pulsating beat, his soundtracks continue to resonate with audiences, forever etching his name in the annals of film music history.

Sales Note
Breaking new ground at The Third Room, we are introducing our first full EP by a guest artist, setting the stage for more to come.
Since quantum mechanics arose from classical physics' failure to explain microscopic phenomena, Berlin's exceptional creative mind Arthur Robert pays tribute to the interaction of little entities that can result in the release of colossal power and provide answers for questions older than the universe itself with his Particle Accelerator EP on The Third Room.
Genuine, dynamic techno that defines itself through crisp sound design, memorable textures, and highly compressed, sometimes distorted drum arrangements makes this piece of music a profoundly soundscaped lecture in four classes that gets its final, emotional touch from either melodic compositions or disruptive beeps. Creating those fascinating pieces within fast-paced and hard-hitting club sounds is one of Robert's trademarks, making him a hugely exciting producer.
Out from September 6th and available on all platforms and always remember - the whole is more than the accumulation of its units.

Tracklist:
A1 Gesloten Cirkel - cryformechicago

B2 Gesloten Cirkel – detoon
Release Note:
We wanted Turbo’s 218th release to be special, so we’re proud to announce that we’ve harpooned and skinned one of our white whales, Gesloten Cirkel. Label boss Tiga pursued several leads, most of which went nowhere (the artist's real name is not, as it turns out, "Jesse Circle”), before cornering the elusive Cirkel in Berlin, where he promptly befriended the shit out of him.
With killer releases on legendary Dutch electro/acid imprint Murdercapital, Gesloten Cirkel’s banger credentials are unimpeachable. For his Turbo debut, he flooded our modest Metaverse offices with over 60 demos. If you guessed that the tracks on Detoon represent all the very best of that material, you just might have what it takes to run a label of your own one day. But you’d also be wrong, because there’s a second Turbo EP on the horizon. Never forget: with Turbo, you’re always here to learn.

Absolute class. 3 out there Techno tracks and one House masterclass, plus the vinyl is a very limited edition (only 250 copies exist) with special technology I've not seen for decades that means playback occurs 'INSIDE OUT' (Plays from the label outwards). Asa Moto - Twee Dikke Nekken
Asa Moto hail from Ghent, Belgium — a city where concrete collides with cathedrals. Their music obeys the same law: rhythm wired into noise, melody bent out of shape. No genres. No safe zones. They’ve taken this across Europe and beyond: festivals like Dour, Best Kept Secret, and Boiler Room Bangkok; clubs that shape the underground including Panorama Bar, Opium, Lux, XOYO. Sacred halls turned into dancefloors, basements stretched to capacity. Wherever they land, Asa Moto rewire the room. Resident Advisor and the BBC were listening from the start. Altin Gün brought Asa Moto in to produce the critically acclaimed Yol (2021) — the band’s first collaboration with outsiders. Remixes for Polo & Pan, Chloé Thévenin and others spread the same edge further out — each a glimpse of their method, a vision in motion. All signals run through Studio Martino in Ghent — their own control room for recordings, remixes, transmissions. The records surface on DEEWEE, the label founded by Stephen and David Dewaele of Soulwax/2manydjs — the only one reckless enough to carry them. The next, DEEWEE082 — Music For Disk Jockeys Pt. 1, continues the line — four tracks as proof that Asa Moto refuse limits, because the world refused them first.

Blue note / Schema / Far Out recordings artist shares a new compilation of golden age italian library music.
Following his acclaimed five-part Viagem compilation series celebrating Brazil's forgotten bossa nova and samba jazz, Far Out, Blue Note and Schema recording artist and international DJ Nicola Conte turns his curatorial attention homeward with Viaggio, an extraordinary exploration of Italy's library music renaissance 1970-79.
The 12-track compilation spotlights the remarkable creative explosion that occurred during the seventies: when some of the greatest yet most historically overlooked composers, including Amedeo Tommasi, Alessandro Alessandroni and Max Rocci, were composing and recording huge amounts of original music for film and television libraries.
Unlike commercial releases designed for mass consumption, library music was created specifically to accompany images on screen. This meant creative freedom for composers who imagined scenarios, feelings and worlds to soundtrack. Pressed in limited quantities, these recordings were distributed only to internal circles of music supervisors, journalists, and television professionals – making them virtually invisible to the general public for decades.
"This is a journey through a largely forgotten world," explains Conte. "While major jazz recording opportunities were scarce, an incredible network of small labels owned by publishing companies – often created by the composers themselves – began to flourish. This created an open space where musicians could express more experimental and free thinking sounds."
At the heart of Viaggio stands Amedeo Tommasi, the sophisticated jazz pianist who emerged in 1960 backing international stars like Chet Baker, Bobby Jaspar, and Jacques Pelzer. Tommasi was among Italy's earliest artists to introduce Black US modal jazz influences, and when traditional recording opportunities dwindled, he pivoted to soundtrack and library music, helping define a distinctly Italian sound that bridged experimental jazz with the emerging possibilities afforded by developments in synthesizer and recording technologies.
The compilation features rare gems from small label outputs, namely the Cenacolo and Rotary label catalogs. Tommasi's contemporaries include the great Alessandro Alessandroni and his vocalist wife Giulia De Mutiis (Kema), Stefano Torrosi (under the alias Farlocco - meaning fake/phony), and Belgian composer Joël Vandroogenbroeck. The recordings capture the technological evolution of the era as beguiling synthesis often combines with global influences spanning Brazilian rhythms, jazz-funk explorations, and Middle Eastern scales.
"You can hear both the haunting melodies and sun-kissed atmospheres so typical of Italian culture from that era," Conte observes. "Some of these albums could have been proper artist releases, while others were specifically designed for accompanying images on screen, yet all were crafted with exploratory creativity that still resonates powerfully today."

Byron The Aquarius - B2.Sunday's Aint the Same Dub
Following our acclaimed Chez Damier release, Skylax proudly welcomes back the brilliant Byron The Aquarius. A true craftsman from Alabama, Byron blends the spirit of Detroit's deep house with live jazz energy, echoing legends like Theo Parrish and Moodymann. This new EP, Afrofuturism, is a statement of intent: four deeply musical tracks rooted in soulful rhythm and cosmic funk. From the spiritual groove of the title track to the introspective dub of Sunday’s Ain’t The Same, this is Byron in top form — keys blazing, grooves flowing. With past releases on Sound Signature, Axis, Eglo, Apron, and Shall Not Fade, Byron’s music continues to light up the underground from Detroit to Berlin. Artwork by H5 – the legendary studio behind visuals for Daft Punk, Air, and Vitalic. Whether you’re a house head or jazz lover, Afrofuturism is a timeless piece for real dancers and dreamers. Strictly for the heads. Vinyl only. No repress. Skylax Records.

Peryl - 555 (Rødhåd Remix)
Where music resists becoming personal confession, it creates its own narrative - abstract, precise, and unbound by outside noise. Vibraform by Berlin-based hardware and live artist Peryl provides an analytical yet deeply instinctive view on music. It reflects the duality between flow and restraint, between self-exploration and the healthy act of setting limits. At its core lies a certain nonchalance - a refusal to act on voices and trends while maintaining full commitment to sound itself. Meticulous sound design, unpredictable, morphing basslines and an intentional timeless aesthetic offer a rare window into Peryl's creative state of mind. Even as he tries to sidestep personal narratives, emotions inevitably surface in the music, subtly shaping its character. The result is not a confessional piece of work, but an abstraction that remains universal rather than private, while still carrying a trace of personal truth. Four tracks that are striking a rare balance between novelty, grace and aggressive functionality, including a remix by R?dh?d, offer to find purpose in the act of believing that sooner or later art reveals a logic of its own. ? 2025 The Third Room All tracks written & produced by Dennis Strobel B2 remixed by Mike Bierbach Mastered by Ahmet Sisman Artwork by Daniel Bornmann & Lennard Makosch (STUEDIO.XYZ)

Tracklist:
A1 Weltschmerz
A2 Damage Control
B1 Lonesome
B2 Relatives Of None
B3 Weltschmerz (Melodic Theme)
Release Info:
"Lead track ‘Weltschmerz’ is a Berghain classic; dark, massive, trippy, and with an emotional character all too rare within the genre. The kicks are banging, the verbed out percussion is fierce, and it all moves around a haunting melodic breakdown that artfully dances on the right side of ‘progressive.’ It’s a killer track that perfectly sets the tone for the whole record.
‘Damage Control’ is a straightforward flex-a-thon, a housier rhythm that struts along confidently. The technical term is ‘floor-filler.’ ‘Lonesome’ brings the emotion back, with it’s super-tense, unresolved melodies, this is perfect for all your mega-club yearning & gurning needs. ‘Relatives of None’ is the nastiest of the bunch, and probably the most at home on Turbo, built around a screechy synth hook. Finally, ’Weltschmerz (Melodic Theme)’ provides an epic ambient outro, crystallizing the emotional tones of the EP and establishing a sense of artistic vision that ascends well beyond the pedestrian.”
