René Pawlowitz presents himself in many different forms; whether it's as Head High, EQD, Wax, WK7, The Traveller or more recently as Hoover - he consistently, and without any fuss or hype - produces some of the most effective, qual-ity techno you can find on the planet. The Shed alias is usually reserved for his best work.
With this in mind, it really is a special event to announce this amazing new EP from Shed on Tectonic, showcasing 3 distinctive and highly effective techno cuts.
'Try' takes a broken-beat techno rhythm for it's spine - reminiscent a little of the 2008/9 dubstep/techno crossover peri-od. Tension is set with dissonant elements pulsing around swooping subs until we are saved by the heroic pads that ease in, building ever upwards to a lush finale. Close your eyes and be transported back to the rave.
'Box' is a darker, more percussive affair - claustrophobic and industrial. 130bpm 4/4 distorted kicks set the stage as frantic drum machine hats and claps crash about heavily reverb'ed ghostly samples.
Lastly we come to 'Sweep', a hypnotic bleepy roller with a bass heavy presence. As the riff loops up and over, drums build and a dissonant synth part creeps in. The not-quite 4/4 kick drives you ever forward with a gentle stumble as rat-tling hi hats flair about over head. Great finish to a great EP.

Shed - Rave Echoes
Shed makes his first appearance on Dekmantel with Rave Echoes — a supple, mesmerising album of angular techno caught between the heat of peak time and the time-blurred hours after the club.
A combination of dreamlike atmospherics and rugged propulsion takes on many forms across the album. It's submerged and restrained on 'Loot 25', speckled with sharply sliced breaks on 'Everybody' and scattered across a sparse, steppy soundscape on 'Rave Predator'. Emotive, swooning strings collide with tough, squashed breakstep drums on 'Double Scoop' and 'Taking You Home' thrusts with urgency and rave romanticism in equal measure.
Wielding his signature blend of UK-school soundsystem pressure and Berlin-school techno momentum with poise and purpose, on Rave Echoes Shed offers a perfect impression of those wild, indescribable sensory overloads that leave their mark on anyone devoted to the dancefloor.

"What binds you to places? To remembering them. Places you can feel, when you feel at home. Places that affirm your very existence. This place for me is the Oderbruch. This album is dedicated to it.” – R.P. The fifth studio album by Shed aka Rene Pawlowitz centers thematically on the Oderbruch region in former East Germany where the producer and DJ grew up and continues to split his time (when not in Berlin.) Both the album and track titles as well as the artwork by Arnim To¨lke [Ectoplasma (Oderbruch)] reflect Pawlowitz’s deeply personal associations with the borderland’s marshy landscape, as well as enormous political and historical changes the region underwent as the last Eastern front during World War II – and, later, following the dissolution of the GDR. Nevertheless, Oderbruch is not a concept album. Instead, it’s an ambivalent ode to the area in which Pawlowitz’s family has lived for generations. It’s a musical reflection on place and personal history: meeting up at the local gas station, a view to the water, techno rattling the closed windows of cars peeling out toward Berlin or the next local party, cruising along rural parkways flanked by trees with fruit ripe for picking, past weeping willows and abandoned factories where industry once thrived. Outside buzzes with the sounds of nature inextricably linked with childhood memories, but also a landscape defined by the bloody defeat of the Nazis at the Battle of Seelow, ushering in the fall of Berlin and with it, the entire fascist regime. The album’s nine tracks are inspired by the intertwined nature of the subjective and historical, which ring through Shed’s idiosyncratic take on breaks, bass, techno, symphonic ventures, ambient and hardcore. But unlike Shed’s previous records, Oderbruch incorporates broad pastoral landscapes – left behind and returned to. Both fit Shed, who under various aliases (Head High, Hoover, Wax, The Higher, WK7, Equalized, The Traveller) has long influenced a number of dance music scenes in Berlin and beyond.

Shed's pure techno power is twisted into breaky sub-bass-loaded madness by his longtime friends Modeselektor, a pairing that hasn't shared the same 12” since the very first Modeselektion. Pawlowitz's Track combines a straightforward 4/4 beat with a chopped vocal that will hypnotize just about any dancefloor into a perfect Shed-Trance, which is chopped up even further on the Modeselektor remix. Mr Bronsert & Mr Szary also replaced the 4/4 kickdrum with a booming broken beat and big breaks, sure to be spun by every creative DJ. One for the Books!

A new release by Rene Pawlowitz, regardless if it is as Head High, Wax, EQD, WK7, The Traveller, Shed or any of his other project names, is always big news. The Dirt / Fluid 67 is the first new Shed release since his fantastic third album The Killer on 50 Weapons, released in July 2012. The single unites 2 of the main elements of the Shed sound: dry and puristic functional techno on the A-Side and UK rave euphoria on the B-Side.

LP Plate 1
On June 5th, Tectonic Recordings will release Beatrice M.'s debut LP, Sinking, on a vinyl triple pack and digital download. The vinyl edition will be split across 3 separate 12" vinyl releases, packed in matching printed disco bags. This is part 1 of 3.
Beatrice M. pushes the needle forward for a sound and scene that nestles among a niche that blends UK dubstep, techno, and the golden era of tech house. The Paris-born artist is in their mid-20s and has been building up a grassroots following and plenty of momentum over the last few years, through their Bait label and its output of sonically resonant artists, alongside numerous remixes and collaborative and solo releases for labels such as Tectonic, Tempa, and Rinse. There are plenty of accolades coming in for Beatrice's work too, with notable DJ mixes for respected heavyweights such as Mixmag as well as featuring in Resident Advisor's best mixes of 2025.
Beatrice is known for making deep explorations into the history of the scenes that have interested them, tracking and highlighting connections between dubstep, tech house, jungle and beyond across various self-produced, one-off radio shows, often taking a journalistic approach to subjects of true passion. They travel across Europe on a packed-out DJing schedule, avoiding air travel, and doing it mainly by train. Many of the LP's tracks started life as sketches put together on these long journeys, as the sights of different countries rolled past the window.
Having taken inspiration from Tectonic artists such as 2562, the label - a home to music that was originally placed in the dubstep-techno crossover spectrum-feels like the perfect place to host Beatrice M.'s debut album Sinking, beginning a new chapter for this kind of sound.
Opening track 'Ever' plunges us into deep waters with a sense of dubwise command. The momentum picks up on 'Ocean', where the vocal snippet "everyday life" circles around reverbed stabs and intricate hi-hat moves. 'Motion' sets the pace with its jumpy but rolling rhythm, leading straight into the eyes-down, party-time energy of 'Disco Corner'.

Beatrice M. - b2. Slowly Drifting ft. Sub Basics
For their debut EP on Tectonic, Beatrice M. drops four deep, dubby cuts bringing weighted bass energy together with techno sensibilities and advanced percussive manoeuvres. Elegant but powerful tracks built for sound systems and curious ears!
Midnight Swim is an ode to the "softer" club sounds, repetitive aquatic grooves that remind Beatrice of their go-to sport: swimming. No phones, just back and forth in the cold water, settling into a mechanical groove. The opening track, Oval, carries its title from the appreciation of soft edges, little distortion, minimal rhythmic pattern.
Upon hearing Pinch's tune 136 Trek, (itself a nod to Zinc's 138 Trek), Beatrice decided to name a tune 132 Trek, to continue the lineage of their musical heritage. The tune was already called Trek because it was made after moving from France and spending their first months in London, and realising "everything is a bloody trek"!!
The EP's title track is about warm-up music and enjoying the earlier hours of the party - a quick immersion and then time for bed, rather than banging club tracks all night long. Beatrice likes to show up early at the club, watch it fill and then leave as it packs out. Midnight Swim is a dip into a roller.
The last tune of the EP features Sub Basics, the first artist to have a vinyl release on Beatrice's own label, Bait, and one of their biggest musical inspirations. Sub Basics' immersive progressive sounds fit simultaneously in the deep techno world and the dubstep world. A beautiful in-between.

2025 marks 20 years of Tectonic, the pioneering dubstep and electronic label founded in 2005 by Bristol's underground originator, DJ Pinch.
The Tectonic Sound compilation lays down the gauntlet for the future direction of the imprint. Split across 6 x 4-track 12"s, the compilation comprises many producers making their Tectonic debut, including Re:ni, Beatrice M., Yushh, Flora Yin-Wong, and Sicaria, alongside stalwarts like Om Unit, RSD, Peverelist and Kahn & Neek. It's an exhilarating 24-track journey through experimental, bass-heavy electronic music, with almost all tracks created by the artists specifically with Tectonic's sound in mind - at the intersection where dubstep and techno meet.
"More so than just the sound, the music is in tune with the real ethos of the early dubstep scene," - Label boss Pinch says: "People talk about 'heads in a scene - but it's led by hearts really. I've always tried to follow my heart when it comes to music and all the music here is from people I trust that do something worth communicating with the world. I love to watch and help artists grow just as much as I'm excited to release tracks from bigger names who are still passionate about what they do and have developed the powers and control to be able to output that effectively. It feels like Tectonic has been a part of so many communities over the years now, and that there is something that binds all the releases together, something that speaks for itself in a way that goes beyond words, something that's instinctive and immediate."
Across Tectonic's 150-strong catalogue there are seminal releases by 2562, Scientist, and Mumdance & Logos, side by side with appearances from Flying Lotus, Shed, Adrian Sherwood, Riko Dan and Photek. The label holds some of the earliest dubstep incantations of Skream, Digital Mystikz, and Joker as well as Pinch's own productions. The evolution of the Tectonic sound branches into audio explorations encompassing sub-heavy techno and grimey soundscapes alongside leftfield electronica and future-facing beats. The common thread that binds is Pinch's devotion to pushing underground music ahead of its time, always built to rattle a soundsystem.

2025 marks 20 years of life for Tectonic Recordings and we are very excited to kick things off with an amazing debut album from Denver USA producer, Sectra.
Sectra's LP "Through The Static" encompasses emotional depth, sonic intensity and moments of sheer brilliance that transcend any single genre. With all the hallmarks of a truly great electronic album, it brings together Sectra's love for bass music alongside punk, drone and experimental electronica.
Each perfectly crafted track takes us on a journey - from melancholy moments like the opening track 'Glitter In The Dark', through the wild and raw collaboration with Dis Fig on 'Horrid & Dejected', to the techno-chug, 1000-mile stare of 'Entry Point' ft. Trisicloplox; the one consistent thing is an incredible and delicate manipulation of sonic texture. The creative use of distortion, crunch and crackle is the Static through which each track passes.
CD version exclusive - There is a very special bonus on the CD; when the album finishes, you will hear the static and you can begin a search for a hidden EP. There are 5 exclusive tracks bedded into the CD that can be found amongst the static. THIS IS ONLY FOR THE CD VERSION!
Tracklisting
1. Glitter In The Dark
2. Horrid & Dejected ft. Dis Fig
3. Strength From Weakness
4. Oblivion
5. Entry Point ft. Trisicloplox
6. I'm So Happy

Sectra - Bedlam
Introducing USA based artist Jon Linskey aka 'Sectra' to Tectonic! With a truly unique sound, Sectra's music sits among the crushing, claustrophobic weight of Shapednoise drone spaces, the percussive dexterity of a Detroit techno wizard and summoning the power of DMZ with sub bass sonics designed to hug your ankles.
'A Demon In My View' runs at a dangerous 90bpm, a total night stalker of a beat riddled with menace and the deep stench of fear. You will be scared, but that's OK, we'll get through this. 'Counter Culture' runs at 126bpm and projects us far out into distance space for a Sci-Fi adventure to a distant galaxy with a techno shaped rocket to propel us out there (well, there's a 4/4 kick in there at least..).
Flip for 'Ashes' where we get a hint of dubstep influence melded with mangling technology and more perfectly placed sounds. Lastly we turn to 'Bedlam' which takes the pace down a few notches and we find ourselves hypnotized in a half-step, rocking gently, wrapped in a blanket, slowly shaking off the trauma.

Dance music during lockdown? Wh?t's the point?
Don't lose faith.. We will be back dancing together and when we do, you will want to hear this EP blasted out on a massive sound system, in good company. Berlin-based Aaron and Felix, aka Fjaak, have found themselves on a rapid uphill trajectory this last few years, tearing up the techno scene with their broken rhythms and massive floor fillers. With 'WH?T EP' we take things back underground, keeping in check with a darkside-son- ic familiar to Tectonic.
Lead track 'WH?T' is a brutal dancefloor track, weighted by a thundering distorted bass and skittering broken breakbeats and meticulous drum programming. Title based sample "Whaaaaaaaaaaaat" chimes in now and then to remind you what you're listening to.
Label boss Pinch is first up on remix duties, taking the 'WH?T' original and deeply upsetting it. Hard bang with some 4/4 bits and loads of distortion.
We flip then for a rare collaboration between Fjaak and Felix's brother J. Manuel (originally a founding mem- ber of Fjaak and brother of Felix), taking things into scribbly-acid territory, while keeping the mood low-slung and rolling. Dangerous beat manipulator Eric Baldwin aka Cocktail Party Effect finishes up the plate with a synapse-sizzling version backed by heavy drum programming and ankle hugging subs.

Lamont - "Open Letter"
Tectonic is very proud to welcome Lamont to the team!
Bristol's bendy-beats whizz kid is mainly known for dropping jaws with his releases on Swamp 81 and it's various offshoots. This time, he's been chipping away at 4 fine-cut gem, especially for Tectonic - bringing some darkside vibrations in addition to his usual bounce.
'Hold Dat' runs at 135bpm, sitting in-between grime, dubstep and housey/techno/whatever that thing Lamont usually does! Charged with a disgusting, totally greasy bassline, this one drops hard and keeps going - quality moves for (now, mostly imaginary) dancefloors.
'Push' takes it down a notch, to 130 for a more heads-y work out, laden with crackling, fizzing sonics - and heavily punctuated by sub bass hits. The energy levels step back a touch, while building intensity.
'Brain' sees Lamont working more familiar territories - sending a pounding 4/4 kick drum out to hold together a series of collapsing percussive hits and warping melodies - as a 'brain' sample, simply haunts your brain.
The EP closes off with 'Open Letter', taking things into a dread-space; dub wise, deep and dangerous. The lurching bass hits take charge and push you through layers of echo'ed hits and micro-melodramas, to round off this great EP in fine style.

On June 26th the influential Bristol figurehead Rob Ellis AKA Pinch will release his first solo album 13 years, via his own label, Tectonic.
'Reality Tunnels' is a concept that was originally introduced by Robert Anton Wilson in his 1983 book 'Prometheus Ris-ing'. In essence, the concept of a reality tunnel relates to an idea on how we create our own perspective - the subjec-tive filter that we each apply to the world around us; the things we perceive and what our consciousness deems worthy of attention, IE what we see and hear is entirely relative to what we do not.
At points angular and uncompromising with levels in the red, frequencies pushed out and EQ curves stretched into strange new shapes, Pinch mixes both low and hi fi on this boldly distinct sonic statement. It sees him flexing years of production skills - but unconventionally so - knowing well that safe predictability and rounded polish don't get the most interesting results.
Dark trip hop Bristolia segues into blistering jungle on album opener 'Entangled Particles', before planet-hopping onto the spiky insidious grimestep of 'All Man Got', featuring the rugged rasp of OG warhorse Trim.
Beginning a triptych of future techno, 'Accelerated Culture' offers the album's most relatively straightforward moment, albeit one of scorching, anthemic dancefloor heat. Delving deeper into the vortex is the synapse sparking wobbler 'Returnity', before 'Finding Space' reaches to the cosmos' far-flung, glowing outlands.
Back to an urban reality is 'Party', where a subtly menacing sense of dread is ignited by Killa P's incremental flow, which ramps-up and pairs-back the intensity in unexpected ways. Still moving freely between different realities, 'Back To Beyond' is beautiful gloaming ambience, executed with equal fine-tuned grace as the genre's masters.
Jamaican vocalist Inezi lends sweet tones to the slow burning, roots-meets-modern-bass spiritual 'Change Is A Must', and on 'Non-Terrestrial Forms' an atmospheric, misty steppers intro segues stealthily into fiercely dystopian, amen-fuelled jungle tekno; marking one of several surprise attacks on the album, where a subtle-slight-of hand shoots the intensity level dynamically up.Closing as it begins, the album is bookended by a piece that recalls the dark, intricate soundscapes of Massive Attack's 'Mezzanine' and Tricky's 'Maxinquaye' - found here in 'The Last One's scorched, smoky rocker.
Hit the vinyl double pack for an exclusive and quite unique sounding 120bpm glitchy techno roller featuring man like Trim once again and live cello recordings.
