Twelve months after their last outing on Transmat, Trackmaster Lou reconvenes with Mr Hooper for another EP that masterfully blurs the lines between religion, science fiction and house music joy. Opener 'Chuuch' takes you direct to the altar, with a euphoric gospel singer swelling your heart as raw beats and infectious hand claps add to the whole uplifting experience. 'No Enemy No Table' takes a more direct approach to your soul, with tightly coiled bass overlaid by organ chords that burst with spirituality. Quickened beats and a frenzied preacher make this an urgent call to arms that sweeps you off your feet time and time again. This most unforgettable sermon concludes with the deeper, hip swinging claps and piano stabs of 'Here To There', a rich, soul infused number that allows you time to meditate on the groove and give yourself over to the unrivalled emotional beauty of this pure- hearted house track.

Patience is a virtue well-rewarded in techno; finding the right groove to build on then holding your nerve long enough to pay off the wait at the optimum moment is a much more skillful endeavour than it would seem for such a minimalistic style. And few display this talent better than Detroit originals Scan 7. Part of the hallowed Underground Resistance family, Scan 7 first broke out in the mid-90s with a series of jacking machine funk 12”s that showcased their savvy for self-control - a faculty they have demonstrated in releases year-on-year since.
Highlighting this continuous font of vitality, Tresor Records has returned to the source and is proud to announce the reissue of Scan 7’s debut LP, Dark Territory. First unleashed on the label in 1996, the album has been remastered from the original DATs by Mike Grinser, augmenting already powerful tracks such as the snake-like, teasing Unusual Channel (mixed by the master Blake Baxter), and the harder-edged VII resulting in music that will, without doubt, provoke an enhanced response when the pressure is finally released.
Repressed on vinyl with updated artwork, these tracks still sound like a blueprint for the future, testament to the prescience and assurance Scan 7’s leader, Trackmaster Lou, clearly had when writing “I hope you enjoy my records in the phuture to come” in the sleeve notes nearly 30 years ago. More

After a long standstill, Elypsia Records is back in full-effect with an amazing release by SCAN 7, an artist collective from Detroit whose existence goes back to the early days of Detroit Techno. Scan 7 is considered by many as a pioneer of the underground Detroit sound.
This new release features the original version of Scan 7's "Burdens Down", a brand-new song written & produced by Detroit-techno newcomer Mr. Hooper featuring Maurice Jackson on vocals.
The track - which has been performed live at the Movement Festival 2017 - has been very well-received by Detroit insiders who see it as a new classic song of the genre.
The package also includes the Terrence Parker's Radio Edit of "Burdens Down" and the gospel-influenced "Thank You Lord". More

Mental Reaction and Noise Tension are two new 'zenith' recordings shifting the order of things to reveal dark energy amid consistent, intense forms of brightness. Punctuating the diptych is a ground pounding, break-oriented remix of Mental Reaction by du's Annie Hall. State of the art graphic futurism by dmas3 makes strange any sense of normality cutting new forms for productive living in an ever-expanding universe. Mental Reaction is the antidote to 'austerity' via classic Detroit warehouse techno. Synonymous with Detroit, Techno, and Tresor, Scan 7 have remained protagonists of the Berlin-Detroit axis since it was first forged in the sweaty obsidian of the club's original Wertheim vault home. Now, over 20 years later, the masked techno collective pay tribute to the triptych's matted histories on 'The Resistance EP'. *With identifiable nods to Scan 7's Underground Resistance affiliations - the label that launched the group, and whose militaristic and political philosophies can be found littered throughout their discography - the EP begins with quintessential Detroit strings and groove before delving into darker techno territory. On the A-side, "The Resistance" offers an uplifting and delightfully nostalgic jaunt through dance music past, using all those favourite and immortal house tropes to deliver instant gratification. Meanwhile, the B-side shows off Scan 7 as masters of warm, yet shadowy techno - plus their trademark drum work - in the hypnotic "Why Not?" and driving, basement-ready "In & Out Of The Groove".

For the 2nd release in their 30th year aniversary trilogy Transmat presents one of the most promising talents emerging from the electronic scene from Tel Aviv. Deep‘a & Biri try to fully introduce their sound from atmospheric hypnotic beats to banging acid dancefloor killers. Deep‘a & Biri‘s connection with Derrick May started 7 years ago, when Deep‘a worked as an A&R for Club Barzilay, one of the important underground clubs in Israel at that time. They invited May to play in Tel Aviv and gave him a demo track at the dinner before the party, which was played by May only a few hours later at the club. Since then May keeps supporting Deep'a & Biri‘s project by frequently playing their music on his sets. On 2014 the boys, who grew up listening to early Detroit Techno music, manage to close the circuit and joined Transmat artists agency and played on their label nights around the world. The tracks on the EP has being slowly cooked for the past 3 years and been tested on multiple dancefloors and soundsystems. On their 4-track EP Echoic Memories Deep‘a & Biri try to to fully introduce their sound from atmospheric hypnotic beats to banging acid dancefloor killers. The tracks stand out with their dark and mashing beats, that make their way without compromise and with never ending dynamism through the dubby sound spaces or relentlessly push forward sharp acid lines. From these perspectives, the tracks‘ bass lines and also to some extent, the implemented superposed, endless synthesizer landscapes, both remind us of the early years of the Detroit Techno.
