In 2022, Dreams launched a new label, Dance Data, which has quickly gained the attention of the underground dance music community - and set the stage with a new two track EP called ‘Paraxotica/Vessel’. More

Producer, DJ and visual artist, Dreams, has become a standout voice in the Los Angeles electronic landscape. The following he’s amassed locally is due, in part, to his own imprint, Private Selection, who’s focus so far has been split between releasing music and throwing events. An ethos that runs through both the his music and parties is indebted in part to house and techno, but also industrial, resulting in a mutated take on dance life forms that is becoming increasingly recognizable in his own records and DJ sets.

Dreams’ first 12’, ‘Twisted Karma’, came out in 2015 via Private Selection. Most recently, he released a record which saw light through Greek Imprint Nous Disques, and now, Apron Records.

For their first release of 2016 Nous Disques takes up where they last left off with another impeccably crafted release, courtesy of the L.A. based producer Dreams, who serves up 5 tracks of gritty goodness on his ‘Off the Grid’ EP. The project kicks off with ‘Chain’, a hissy, analogue, Detroit-scented monster before moving seamlessly into the more stripped down and minimal ‘Voyeur’; closing out side one ‘Red Veil’ glides in mellifluously, immediately reminiscent of Stacey Pullen's trailblazing forays into that space between house and techno. Over on the flip the title track leads with a jubilantly squelchy tribute to Chicago before the fittingly titled 'Night Cap' closes out the EP with a woozy, slo-mo skitter through eerily sparse electronica. Following up his anthemic late-summer burner, Hope, Credit 00 returns to Pinkman to deliver the album Midnightlife Crisis. Hopping between genres whilst remaining resolutely coherent, the twelve-track double LP is a showcase of the Rat Life boss' many influences. From the driving, mesmeric techno of Music Is A Spiritual Thing to the sci-fi electro on Bouncing Bell and Love Warrior's downtempo, half-time shuffle, the collection of tracks is broad and varied yet simultaneously unified by belonging to the club. Whether it's warm-up material, peaktime rollers or afterhours sludge for tired legs and scrambled heads, there's something for every scenario on Midnightlife Crisis. And with recurring themes of melancholy and anxiety throughout, the album perhaps reflects that all too familiar period for every club enthusiast when the years are ticking by and the lights are coming on. "I just hope there's hope", sings the voice on the album's lead single, before reminding us that the dancefloor's sweet release is often the best remedy to these negative thoughts - "I see you shaking on the floor, that gives me hope, gives me hope." New York techno luminary Adam X debuts on Pinkman with 4 tabs of extra-strength acid specially designed for peak-time club sets. Opening in typically thunderous fashion, the overdriven kick of A1's aptly-named Laying It On Thick sets a tone that doesn't relent for the duration of the record. No-nonsense and straight to the action, Adam X's distinct approach to crafting dancefloor hits shines throughout as multiple 303 refrains weave through stripped back drum patterns for unforgettably hypnotic results. While A2's Trailing Effect drops the tempo a couple of notches, its head-scrambling acid psychedelia would take any bustling dancefloor on a trip long into the early hours. The three remaining tracks give no let-up, fostering a frenetic energy that just can't be contained. Bertram debuts on Dutch cult label Pinkman Records. Fueled by nostalgia, 'Lights Out' aims to execute industrial old school dancehall and dub within a raw electronics framework. It combines old drum machines, vintage synths, acid bass lines, Sherman-laced vocals by Bertram and the people in his life, and clever approaches to the creative process and production. He believes in a ''it takes a village" approach and worked closely with label head Marsman to iterate the project. The release is blessed by remixes courtesy of C.L.A.W.S. and Chris Mitchell. More

dentified Patient drops another calamitous record on Pinkman - 4 dungenous slowbeat cuts, brimming with energy, emotion and attitude. The EP kicks off with Geen Syndroom where jaded, murky melodies go in tandem with sexy bass lines and an obliterating broken drum beat. Thereafter, Nog Steeds High Van De Lak progressively evokes feelings of desolation and melancholia, while carrying an aggressive punch and irresistible groove. Do the flip to find two more ferocious productions in Ver Verwijderd Van Vermoeid and Haar Glans Altijd Strak. The former grips you firmly with bubbling acid and machine gun snares on the backdrop of violent kicks. The latter ends the voyage entrancingly with hypnotic synth lines, whiplash-snares and rattlesnake-hats. More

Identified Patient and his notorious femme fatale are back with another record of deranged darkroom anthems for Pinkman. This 12" is where crunchy drums and heavy bass are laced with aggressively seductive vocals by Sophie Du Palais. While the theme of the songs, compared with their previous record, goes in a rather kinky direction, the raw ferocity that never fails to grip a dance floor remains. More

Pinkman welcomes Pablo Bozzi to the label with a debut mini-LP "Street Reign". A well-crafted 6-tracker, in which the artist subtly weaves his 80s Italo fascination with early 90s Goa influences and weighty body music. The combination oscillates between sweaty dance-floor alertness & shimmering synth euphoria, allowing one to drift in and out of a reverie. We might live in dark times, but this sure gives hope. Henning Baer caught our attention after his first release on Adam X's Sonic Groove label. Nearly a decade after, Berlin's techno front-runner tweaked his machines into a moody electro escapade for his debut on Pinkman. Krakow's duo Olivia and Chino join Pinkman with their live project Radiation 30376. Both belonging to the generation that has seen decay turn into liberation, together they tint raw industrial soundscapes with the feelings of freedom and nostalgia. Their debut ep Arka consists of 4 uncompromised electro mutants, rich with the atmosphere of the 90s and the sound design of the future. More

Krakow based Olivia joins Pinkman with a modern twist on ancient charming practices. "Dancing Snake" takes you to a surging tomb rave in the heat of the desert. Grubby rhythms and crunchy kicks reminisce about reality, making you wonder whether this all was just a lucid dream. More

Bearing the torch of a new generation West Coast artists, The Hague based Pasiphae comes through with a haunting four-tracker on Pinkman. Weaving the accents of horror with the ambience of hope, 'Possessed Realms' offers a trip through desolate terrains of restless minds. The haven of the night congregates the wrecked ones and hope tainted with misery turns the grimness into light. The idea of finding comfort and rejuvenation in the dark is liberated, opening broad horizons for creation. While our future might be uncertain, the present is ripe for Pasiphae. More

Italian dark electronics aficionados Alessandro Adriani and Cosimo Damiano come together for a debut collaborative EP on Pinkman. Belonging to different generations but both deeply influenced on one side by "the Sound of Rome", with pioneers like Gabriele Rizzo, Leo Anibaldi and Lory D, and on the other side by the raw electro Dutch legacy of Bunker Records, the two strike a golden middle of their styles with a clanging, raw and packed to the brim with coarseness electro-techno hybrid. Inspired by the cyber dystopia narratives, 'Neurodreamers' reflect on the hi-tech surveillance and the promise of AI which unfolds itself into the prospect of dehumanization. Taking the listener through turmoil and anger, the brutish 4-tracker weave the elements of grubby baselines, coarse synths and erratic percussions with the brain-melting hints of acid and Alessandro Adriani's own recorded vocals.
