Kornél Kovács' second album is on the way via Studio Barnhus, which he runs with Petter Nordkvist and Axel Boman.

Stockholm Marathon sees the Swedish-Hungarian producer, who was born in the Swedish capital, "reflecting a lot on this beautiful, boring city I never quite manage to move away from," he says, after moving back last September. Kovács credits his "dearest Stockholm people" for making the LP his most collaborative and most personal release. That list includes jazz musician Niclas Skagstedt, Matt Karmil, Rebecca & Fiona and Malin Gabriella Nordin, who did the artwork.

The LP, which arrives in April, is his second full-length, following 2016's The Bells, also released on Studio Barnhus.

music, straddling the line between the cute and the menacing.
Anticipation for Kovács' debut album has been rocketing following stand out releases like 2014's
wistful Szikra, last year’s mad party anthem Pantalón on Glasgow's Numbers imprint and the late
night groove of Space Jam on Smallville Records.
On The Bells, Kovács pops open his trunk full of sounds nicked from the lost and found bins of
nightclubs all over the world. From the distorted organ chords of BB to the stripped down
trancehall beats of Josey’s Tune and Szív Utca and the title track's cinematic romanticism, it's all of
the bells and all of the whistles - further positioning Kornél Kovács as one of the most characteristic
producers of modern house music.
The record was completed in an intense two-week session with Kovács' great friend and great
studio engineer Matt Karmil in the cold winter of 2016. Another close friend, artist Malin
Gabriella Nordin, has created the album artwork together with her brother Jonas.

Nincs, a Hungarian word roughly translating to "there is no", is the debut EP of Kornél Kovács, one third of influential Stockholm label Studio Barnhus alongside Petter Nordkvist and Axel Boman. Kovács' latest outing Szikra struck a chord with lovers of quality house music worldwide and as 2014 came to a close it lingered on top of many a year-end-list. But the sheer beauty of Szikra was only the beginning. 2015 is set to be a monster year for Kovács and it all begins with Nincs EP. Leading track Nordic Rave 4 sets the ball rolling with hyper-edited vocals and rolling percussion shrouded in frosty atmospherics and rudebwoy soundbites. Don't sleep on the acidic bassline that sneaks up on the unsuspecting towards the end! Utopia, Ohio is like all the characters of 80s movie classic The Breakfast Club rolled into one modern house track: the pretty tenderness of The Princess, The Athlete's muscular effectiveness, the off-kilter weirdness of The Basket Case, IDM techniques worthy of The Brain and the smooth ruthlessness of The Criminal - jackin' for beats in dusty record bins all over the world. The grandiose pads and descending bassline of Tooth make up a track that is as imposing as dizzying. Slightly out-of-tune samples quiver like a struck drum - thoroughly processed and mangled through Kovács' mutated machine park. Closing track So So Solid surprises by *not* being the ultimate clash between Jermaine Dupree and Reebok-clad grime stylings, although Kovács could probably pull that off as well. Instead we get a beatless loopfest akin to The Field or Gas - pure angst-ridden bliss! Collaborating with studio wizard Matt Karmil has given these productions an exquisite aura depth. On Nincs, the idiosyncrasies of Kornél Kovács' work come into light, always finding the sweet spot between crazy, sexy and pretty damn cool.

Studio Barnhus proudly presents Joshua Idehen, announcing "Stretch for the Stars" – a new EP from
the Stockholm-based British-Nigerian spoken word artist and musician. Joshua's explosive creativity
and soulful voice have made him a fixture on the UK jazz scene, his exuberant live performances
lighting up clubs and festival stages across the world, including recent Studio Barnhus parties and
Boiler Room streams.
Together with producer and instrumentalist Ludvig Parment, Joshua fuses poetry with modern club
sounds in a natural, free-flowing way, resulting in some of the most poignant new music heard at

We Release Jazz is ecstatic (purrrr!) to announce the official reissue of Hiroshi Suzuki's glorious jazz-fusion-funk Holy Grail Cat (originally released in 1976), sourced from the original masters and available on limited edition 180 gram vinyl mastered at half speed for full audiophile sound, as well as on digipack CD. Both versions come with liner notes by Teruo Isono.
Cat was recorded in October 1975 at at Nippon Columbia Studio, while Hiroshi Suzuki was visiting his home country of Japan after moving to Las Vegas in 1971 to play with Buddy Rich and perfect his craft. Back on his old stomping grounds, the man known as Neko (Cat) immediately reunited with his dear friends for an epic two day session of groove magic. The chemistry was still intact. The skills and style had grown.
The result, Cat, is a smooth masterpiece, a deep and soulful affair where stunning trombone solos by Hiroshi Suzuki flirt with Takeru Muraoka's heavenly saxophone and the sensual rhythm section of Hiromasa Suzuki (keyboards), Kunimitsu Inaba (bass), and Akira Ishikawa (drums).
Celebrated in jazz collectors circles, in the lofi beat scene, and among music diggers around the world, Cat has become one of the most sought-after Japanese jazz albums of all time and, much like Ryo Fukui's Scenery, has fascinated old and young generations alike.

SHORT INFO:
Sean La’Brooy is an Australian producer and composer currently based in New York, who’s work traverses ambient, jazz and house music. He is the co-founder of Australian ambient label Analogue Attic Recordings. With this release, La’Brooy has hooked up with the Scissor and Thread label to put out Merchant - five dreamy and versatile tracks featuring his distinct style of harmonically complex pads mixed with jazz-influenced instrumental melodies and solos. Snow Storm starts the journey, coupling field recordings with snippets of gentle jazz lines and wandering percussion. Cargo is the most dancefloor-oriented of the release, and locks into a driving groove early on, featuring various synth and piano fragments to add and flow through the track. Pilot is a track that also finds an off-kilter groove, embellished with dubbed-out percussion by fellow Australian Joseph Batrouney and samples. Storage too features a guest—New York based drummer Leo Yucht—who delivers a rolling breakbeat which is intertwined with live percussion, airy pads and snippets of piano to build a rich atmosphere. The closing piece is Helipad, a dubby bassline providing the anchor for an intricate rhythm of bongos and synth to support a light-as-a-feather melody.

Sometimes you go to take a step back to go forward. What sounds like a Ferris Bueller quote and can be as easily applied as a seatbelt, also holds true for the long over-due and outright return of Tiger & Woods. A singular presence in 21st Century pop, Róisín Murphy is a genuine maverick. Her seminal 2007 album Overpowered received widespread acclaim from music critics yet, arriving at a time of waning major label interest in vinyl, it was released only as a hyper-limited double LP. Accordingly, in the decade since, it has been obscenely difficult to find. It is a true honour to finally reissue this thoroughly modern dance-pop classic on Be With. Whilst remaining true to the loud pink and orange wax of the original release, this remastered edition enjoys the bonus inclusion of fan-favourite "Parallel Lives", finally making an appearance on vinyl.

A sumptuous, all-killer electro-disco gem, every song could've been a smash. With its heavy disco influence - deep beats, lush synths and subtle horns and strings - Overpowered was focused solely on the dancefloor. Inspired by the Eighties proto-house of D Train, Mantronix and Gwen Guthrie, but also recalling the intelligent pop of Yazoo and early Eurythmics, Overpowered presented sensual electronic soul for the heads and the hips.

Her collaborators, including Timbaland mentor Jimmy Douglass, Bugz In The Attic and Richard X, constructed a gleaming shrine to the spirit of Bobby O and Giorgio Moroder by stitching together crisp synthesised beats with the slicker tics of early house. The lead single and title track lifted the bassline squelch from the dawn of cosmic disco -- La Bionda's "I Wanna Be Your Lover" -- and the follow-up, "Let Me Know", effortlessly incorporated the chorus of Tracy Weber's 1981 boogie bomb "Sure Shot".

The wonderfully dank, sticky R&B of "Primitive" is Murphy's favourite track from the album: "I mean, who gets to put primordial soup in the first line of a song? That idea of not always being in control of the primitive parts of yourself, the bits that fall in love or the bits that dance or lose the plot or drink too much, and putting that across … that's pop for me. It's playing with all the different colours of the rainbow of life."

Murphy's blistering vocals are versatile enough to elevate the icy textures of "Dear Miami", the sexed up kaleidoscopic funk of "Footprints" and the grace of "You Know Me Better". Sharp, witty and heartbreaking, here Murphy laid claim to being the kind of strident disco singer "Dusty Springfield never quite had the abandon to become", as Pitchfork noted in their original, glowing "8.0" review.

Overpowered was considered an instant classic and, sounding deeply prescient, it has aged gloriously. There has long been an acknowledgement of Murphy's influence on other artists' gonzo fashion, and many musicians have spent the last decade crafting dancefloor tracks that embrace piano house and disco, even if they'd pale when held next to "Let Me Know". Shifting from the glam pop of "Movie Star" to the buzzing acid of "Cry Baby", when the dubby ballad for her dad, "Scarlet Ribbons", wends its way to the sweetest of endings, you realise you've been immersed in the best grown-up dance-pop album since Madonna's Ray of Light.
