Following his recent barnstormers on Avotre and Rekids, both ‘Square’ and ‘Distant Horizon’ deliver in that
unhurried, cosmic journey-like way Kaden has made his signature over the years: gentle layering, subtle moment,
palpable atmospheres but the drive and underbelly of a bulldozer.
‘Square’ kicks off the show with an eight-minute adventure into deep, warm undulating acid. Heavy subs, fluid
drums and a persistent spoken vocal texture, this one wraps you up like a cloak. ‘Distant Horizon’, meanwhile,
whips that cloak off so quickly it will send you spinning deeper and deeper into the celestial rabbit hole. A
10-minute Mathias epic, it warms up with a progressive rolling feel for a good few minutes before we’re suddenly
derailed into a trippy, hazy brew of weird bass bubbles and some rather outlandish spoken word. Poetry in high
grade technoid motion.
And the motion doesn’t stop there… Ever ones to get involved, Catz ‘n Dogz get their paws on ‘Distant Horizon’
and give it their own gritty, grainy, trippy twist. Two parts tribal, one part bass, all parts peak time, this doesn’t just
stare out at the horizon but flies you right over it.

As teased in his recent Boiler Room show (and most sets he’s played lately), both
‘Polyphonic’ and ‘NoKick’ offer a fresh-yet-heritage-rooted take on techno and have
been tailored to cut through on the biggest of festival and carnival rigs. Perfect timing,
then. Let’s tuck in:
‘Polyphonic’ sits somewhere between Paperclip People and Basement Jaxx. Its
sterling acid house hook lays down the foundations while a dizzying array of FX and
sonic chemtrails swoop, bend and flare above the groove like fireworks. A proper
sonic rocket display of a track that defies conventional arrangement, make no
mistakes: this blows minds.
‘NoKick’ continues this theme with even more derring-do. As the name suggests,
there’s no kick drum at play here, just a swinging break with a classic 2 Bad Mice
style old school bassline and even more laser-blazing FX trickery that rifles the
spectrum with head-turning, twisted dexterity. Complete with crowd cheers and
carnivalian whoops and hollers, this is the ultimate DJ tool that winds the crowds up
like nobody’s business.
Better late than never: After years of releasing on some of the biggest and most
respected labels in techno, Mathias’s appearance on Pets has been long overdue.

Simultaneously with the announcement of our 15th Watergate-Compilation, we are also proud to present the number 15 of our vinyl series. The man behind the black wax is Mathias Kaden, whose exclusive track now finds its new home in our label catalogue - with "Fin" he literally marked the end of his compilation which was released in this year's summer. The track warms up with an aesthetically-stumbling beat pattern, gathers speed attended by rattling hi-hats and suddenly turns into a smooth piano-break. After this grace period the allround-tool unfolds its full force and tramps down on the dancefloor. No less a figure than Josh Wink contributed a remix to this bomb. The Ovum-Records boss interpreted "Fin" in his habitual freethinker-attitude as a hypnotic-house track in a totally new context. Dopey bleeps wriggle through the drums and leave woozy traces in the audiences' heads. "Fin" appears on January 20 on vinyl & digital.

It is with great pleasure that Desolat welcome the hugely-respected German producer and DJ Mathias Kaden to the Desolat family with his four track 'Tentakle EP' for the Desolat X series. 'Pitched' opens proceedings and is solely aimed at the dancefloor with its driving percussion, deep bass and pitched vocal snippets. Next up is 'Troija' which progresses with at a slower BPM, has a funkier and more exotic groove and is characterised by bouncing bass and tribal drums. 'Demence' takes the listener on a hypnotic journey with it's squelching acid-bassline and incessant echoing vocal. 'Propeller', which rounds off the EP, is another percussive groover designed to move a peak time club. The tracks builds throughout, with crisp hi-hats which drive the track's infectious rhythm. On top of the four tracks on offer, the 'Tentakle' EP also generously comes with two deadly FX Tools for all DJs to build into their set. Overall then Mathias Kaden's experience as a producer shines through on the 'Tentakle EP' as he delivers four killer tracks which are as expertly programmed as one would expect from the veteran producer, and designed to get the dance-floor moving.

The third and final remix package for Mathias Kaden’s masterpiece album ‘Studio 10’ comes along with two reworks of Mathias’ Vakant label mates Onur Özer and DeWalta. Onur Özer’s ‘Hâre Remix’, a massive, bass driven rework for Kaden`s ‘Chazz’, takes the track to a deeper, more jazzy level, until it fades out with a dreamy yet abstract melody after 11 minutes and counting. David Koch aka DeWalta takes on ‘Ikenga’ (an African god of time, success and achievement), which is surely Kaden’s most played track of the album. David maintains the acidic vibe of the original, adds his very own funk and sends the track back to the dance floor. Late in 2009 Mathias Kaden’s debut album ‘Studio 10’ was released and a flood of attention ensued. The readers from Groove, Germany's most important music magazine, voted ‘Studio 10’ the top album of the year. Correspondingly it also received a flood of positive feedback from the scene's most important DJs. Overall no small feat in todays crowded market. Fast forward to 2010 and Vakant is following up with a series of remixes for this very important album. Up first is a rework from Hamburg’s Dj Koze; a man with no need for Introduction. Koze lays into the album’s dub track ‘Kawaba’, featuring the voice of Japan’s singer Tomomi Ukumori. Deeply pitched vocals and Koze’s very own groove give this remix a very special appeal. On the flip, Spanish Dj and producer AFFKT, resident of Valencia’s famous Barraca club, delivers a peak time tech-house remix of ‘Macleta’ which is already causing some storms amongst selected dj sets. Longtime underground star Francesca Lombardo steps up to Ovum with a trio of superb new signature sounds. Italian Lombardo has been crisscrossing the globe and headlining all its most tasteful clubs and festivals for many years. Her powerful, heartfelt grooves have come on the most influential labels of the day and her critically acclaimed debut album 'Life of Leaf' showed that she can do all sounds and styles from downtempo to pop with equal skills. Her mix of innovation and compelling grooves continues on this latest EP. The vocals on the opener 'Magic Moment' are a poem Francesca's friend Victoria sent to her. She kept them for four years before ?nding the special inspiration that encouraged her to use them in these writing sessions. They lend the tune an intimate feel and draw you in deep to the elegant house drums and warming synths. It's an uplifting and classy tune with a standout Moog bassline that will lock in the floor. Josh Wink is as iconic as it gets in electronic music. The Philly artist crafted several of the genre's most enduring hits early in his career and has continued to remain at the forefront of the scene ever since. His Ovum label is part of the reason for that, as are superb new tunes like this one. Truncate is one of the new techno dons, known for his funky signature style of jackin’ tracks, along with crafting vast, all-consuming grooves that dominate dance floors. He has done so mostly on his own label and together the pair cook up some real magic on this new release. ‘Be Aware’ came about during a multi-day studio session at Truncate’s LA studio and is the first of two EPs that will be released from that same creative collaboration.Josh has been a fan of Truncate’s for years and had him remix his 2016 single 'Shoelaces' and 2017 single 'Resist', while in return Josh remixed Truncate’s 2017 tune 'Concentrate'. The timeless 'Be Aware' is a ghoulish techno track with freaky vocals that keep you looking over your shoulder. A sparse lead synth rises and falls to edgy effect, slick drums roll deep and unique tweaked effects flesh out this most well-crafted of tracks. Truncate offers his own impactful interpretation, where the tempo quickens and builds into an infectious powerful groove that has immense impact. Philly-born DJ, legendary producer and the man behind many of techno's most iconic cuts, Josh Wink remains as prominent now as he did a quarter of a century ago. That is because of the constant sense of innovation in all he does, as well as his rare understanding of dance floor dynamics and mastery of his studio. Says Josh of his latest track, “Every time I play this people rush over asking 'what is this track that says “get your balls back”?' Its reaction after playing has been amazing and reassuring that it hits hard, works on the floor, and sticks in people's heads.“ He's not wrong: the powerful 'Balls Back' is a spatial, acid-tinged techno stormer that builds and builds until it ultimately explodes in signature Josh Wink fashion. The 303s are saturated in deep processing along with heavy 909 percussion and a ‘slap-you-in-your-face’ vocal sample that will lead to dance floor devastation. So… I said 'Wow. Okay.' I went into the studio the next day and added the vocal, switching the two as it had a better rhythmic flow."

The clue is in the title, the message is in the hypnotic signature vocal loop, the attitude is in the spiked-out sinewy tendrils of acid, sharped in the way only Josh knows how: 'Resist' is the sound a man who, like all of us, is confounded and frustrated with the current political and media climate. Introducing Amberoom: a brand new name from three old friends… Manuel Tur, Adrian Hoffmann and Ramin Nouyan.
Operating in a similar mindset to Manuel's Ribn project a few years ago, Amberoom is a celebration of the freestyle spirit. Three mates and a bunch of machines jamming the day away with no intention but creating beautiful moments, dynamics and tones.
The spirit is evident from the off on 'Rhit': The mid tempo funk in the percussion, the breath-taking organ blasts, the casually late piano line… The track has a life of its own that could only come about through jamming and open minds. At points heads-down and tribal, at others epic, this really is powerful stuff.
The power continues on 'Hover'. The staggered woodblock beat that ignites the track gives no hint at what's about to come… Suddenly a dense fog of synths heave into the mix, harmonically weaving with a yearning cosmic far-away feel that's just as much physical as it is emotional. Genuinely majestic.
We close with 'Machine' which sums up the beauty of the project; a homage to the hardware being pumped and massaged to create these fusions, it's an awe-striking 11 minute episode of brilliantly drawn out deep, dubby funk. The guitar twangs and synth ripples creating a strong Balearic feel, the whirling, grainy FX and textures have a trippy appeal while the crunchy kicks keep everything real… This really does take you away to special places.
Magic, unique and powered by trueness: Let's hope Manuel, Adrian and Ramin return to this special place very soon because this is dynamite.

With over 25 years in the game, André Galluzzi can respectfully be awarded the veteran badge of honour. A mark of experience and longevity for an artist who has, as they say, been there and done it all. Today howeversees the German take on a new adventure, with his debut release for Josh Winks Ovum Recordings. As a DJ, André has held residencies at three of Germany and the worlds most influential Clubs - Tresor, Ostgutand Berghain. Been the driving force behind his own We Play Vinyl party. Managed his own Taksi (along side Paul Brtschitsch) and Aras Record labels and featured his own music on such highly acclaimed imprints as Cocoon, Cadenza, Ostgut Ton and Highgrade. Back in 2001, having released his seminal mix compilation, 'Im Garten', André embarked on a new series of events that regularly saw him play intoxicating sets of up to 10-hours. The parties went by the name of Submerge and those infamous Dj sets have inspired his beautiful brace for Ovum today. The metronomic kick drum of the title track introduces us to its immersive groove, whilst bubbling and elasticated fx vie for our attention, adding a sublime swing to Submerge. On the flip, Bold, by name and nature, ups the swing ante with its fierce acidic melody, shimmering hats and rasping snare.

Anton Pieete is known for his classic, textured take on House & Techno. The Dutchman has spent recent years exploring the reaches of his analogue set up, releasing a string of hugely popular EPs for Joris Voorns Rejected imprint. Now he turns over his latest wares to Ovum, with another impressive offering in the shape of TheMenu.

While it may be our starter; first dish Peven is definitely more of a main course. Heady and intoxicating with itspercussive, funky drums and undulating keys, its carries us on its woozy wave of rich analogue bass.

Our appetite is further satisfied by the deeper sophisticated tones of Lite Green. Its malleable, swinging groove is governed by its pulsating bassline and dense kick-drum as lazer synths sweep and claps fire on thisclassy cosmic jam.

BN300s dramatic and ghostly strings are at odds with its frenetic bouncing bass melody and yet together theywork in complete harmony to create our final musical indulgence from The Menu.

From his days organising free parties in and around Northwest France during the early 2000s, Oniris has risen the classical way: years of DJing have given him an innate understanding of dancefloor dynamics and a firm crew and label to create with: Astropolis. Since breaking through in 2011, his tracks have rapidly picked up support from all the right corners: Agoria, Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Marc Romboy and Josh Wink have all lent their support. Having already released some of his finest work on Bedrock and Systematic, its now Ovum's turn to play host to Oniris' latestwork, the Nightwalk EP. Eschewing his penchant for the peak time, Oniris steers away from the euphoric's of previous outings and, whilst retaining his melodic moves, creates a selection of deep, warm and groovy cuts with a spiky electric edge. Marco Faraone makes his debut on Josh Winks legendary Ovum Recordings with an original 4 track EP. EntitledRaw Jamsessions 001, the EP is the first of a new concept series intended for vinyl lovers and those whoappreciate the analogue sound.

The entire EP was produced live, with Marco connecting his hardware, preparing the patterns and recordinglive to Tape, unedited. The result is four high quality dance floor tools, with a raw, dusty, old-school analogueedge. Whilst each track is untitled, they each have their own distinct feel; the first is a rolling journey of echoingsynths and hefty drums, whilst the second is a long-player featuring a cascade of acid-tinged stabs. On the Bside003 makes for a laid-back yet gritty 6 minutes, whilst 004 closes off the EP with layers of percussion overa thudding bassline.

Raw Jamsessions 001 cements Marco Faraones status as a truly talented and diverse producer.

Back with more Underground Bullshit! Ovum are more than proud to welcome the return of the might Gel Abril.
Gel's production career exploded with Ovum almost 10 years ago with the iconic aforementioned 'Underground Bullshit' EP. Since then he's established relationships with some of Ovum's most respected, progressive contemporaries - Defected, Mobilee, Get Physical, Be As One - but now the Israeli craftsman is back at his spiritual home with three of his biggest tracks in recent times. Get to know:
Lean, stark, iced-out; 'Raver' was tailored for Ovum. Every element plays a key role; from the oak-trunk kicks to the bellowing subs to the demonic downpitched spoken sermon by way of the life-support machine rhythmic texture... Everything comprised to create a subtle, restrained but wholly dark tech groove that refuses to quit.
With a refreshing sense of contrast, 'Optical' slaps hard from the off as a plucked riff springs from out of nowhere. A true drama-raiser that fluctuates back and forth, causing every other element from the kicks right the way up to the percussion to follow its tense pattern. Drop this and watch the panic unfold before your very eyes.
Finally we hit 'Akasa'. Tapping into the EP's heritage theme with its timeless, almost bouncy acid line, Gel establishes a tangible sensation of physical funk with increasing percussive elements and a synth lick that gets decidedly trippy and unpredictable. The type of track that takes you to destinations without you even knowing you wanted to go there, it's a fitting ending to an EP that's been long overdue…

Ovum welcomes Leftbank Records co-boss Dudley Strangeways: a UK house and techno DJ rooted with serious residency stripes at the legendary Back To The Future Parties and appearances at the likes of Boiler Room. Hot off the back of releases on StarDub, Little Helpers and Made Of Concrete comes his Ovum debut; three tracks made constructed for one sole purpose… Melting minds in the darkest of rooms.
'Keep It Clean' is twistedly simple; a rump-busting roll in the drum department and paranormal pad leave space for a precision tuned tone that warps with the gravitas of a life support machine. Sinewy, cold and deliciously disconcerting, Dudley ensures funk and focus with delicately placed rhythmic elements and constant fluctuations.

Next we find ourselves breaking into an early 90s warehouse as 'Transition' whisks us on an acid trip with flurries of jack and a lean lead line that slithers through the ever-mutating drums and occasional FX hailstorms. Devilishly futuristic and tailored for those deep long blends, the stripped back extensive nature of this guarantees mixing bliss.

Nacho Marco's 'Warm Trax Vol. 1' was an Ovum highlight in 2015 and a much welcomed return to the label for the Spanish producer. Vol. 1 with its rich analogue textures and acidic flair, picked up a wealth of support. Today Nacho returns with Vol. 2 and a new trio of Trax for our trip.

One of the most acclaimed DJ's and producers from Spain, Nacho Marco's rich musical history is evident in all of his productions. As comfortable creating a peak time acid number as he is rolling the depths of house, Nacho is clearly influenced by the early sounds of Chicago and acid house and always delivers a modern twist on what is a timeless sound. It's one thing to take influence from the past, but its quite another to ensure that you keep on pushing forward.

Hypnotic and sparse, Afterlife opens the Ep with its bubbling acid line and stripped, raw beats that bring you back to the Warehouse.

Let's Play continues with the acid theme as it ripples away under a drowsy bassline, broken by tight snare and shining hats that build to peak time bliss.

Finally we're treated to the smooth balearic vibes of Tell Me Something, with its hooky piano riff and smooth synth chords. Sunset/rise anyone?

The precision-tuned tech machine that is Rob Hes continues to scale up the gears with his highly anticipated debut on Josh Wink's Ovum.
A key weapon in Rob's full-shade arsenal, 'Main Sounds' follows a solid stream of steam-powered grooves on the likes of Tronic, SCI+TEC, Elevate, KD Music and, just this month, Gregor Tresher's Breaking New Soil. It's already become the subject of ardent 'ID' theorists and demanding fan queries thanks to his recent Asia tour video... Now he's finally able to unleash it, along with two other equally dynamic grooves.
'Main Sounds' is the type of track that catches you unaware. A stately 4/4 suddenly goes into overdrive as a cathedral-shaking arpeggio penetrates to the forefront. Creepy, consistent and chilling, it will have your floor hypnotised from start to finish.
'On The Move' ups the physical sensation factor with its steam-powered drum arrangement. Each percussive element perfectly positioned to heighten the drama, the rhythm is complemented every step of the way as an icy hook entwines itself amid the lolloping energy.
Finally we hit "Perfect Illusion" where dense layers of atmospheres shroud the spectrum and chunkier brick-like kicks plough through the mists driving a shimmering hook and its acidic tendrils to the centre with restrained suspense. A fitting way to conclude his debut Ovum EP, something tells us this won't be a one-off...

Fresh from launching his 909 Til Infinity with Option 4 and storming BPM so hard he was identified by Pulse Radio as one of the key breakthrough acts of the Mexican festival, MANIK returns to Ovum with more visceral, physical slabs of straight-up tech funk.
'Recourse' is special. Teaming up with LA word-painter Cari Golden, his fluctuating, body-popping groove is peppered with barbed purring poetry that's part existential, part party, all unique: Cari matching MANIK's every bobbing bass texture, MANIK matching Cari's every observation, everything about 'Recourse' is distinctive, exciting and full of fresh energy.
Momentum maintained throughout; things take an unexpected dubby twist as the 'VHS' shimmers and ripples with synth insistency. Rolling hi-hats, hip-snapping clap attacks and a timeless vocal shot build around each other, occasionally revealing a fully-juiced bassline swinging and rolling with total consistency. 'Los Angeles Dub' is straight up jack, no chaser: a grainy, analogue moment of total unabashed machine-melting funk. Don't be fooled by the title's locale; we could be in any party city at any period of time in the last 30 years and this will cause the same frenzied moves.
MANIK's been delivering the goods for several years, but even by his standards this is another level. Something tells us BPM isn't the only thing he'll be breaking through this year...

Ovum are proud to present a very special remix release as Josh Wink's 2015 future-shocker 'Denial' enjoys not one but two versions from Luke Slater.
Splitting his complex multi personality across two sides, the UK techno lifer explores his innermost dual psyche to create two wholly different tracks. Both of which reflect the strengths of the original while taking it into vastly different directions.
First up: Planetary Assault Systems. One of Luke's oldest and boldest alter-egos, here he provides a nuclear powered bulldozer of a version. Fission hisses and mechanical rasps wrap around the undulating groove that charge relentlessly with a dark funk coded into the bass. Watch out for the additional percussion and brash snares midway for added atom-splitting momentum.
LB Dub Corporation follows. One of Luke's shyer personas, this is the first LB Dub Corp production since his Ostgut Ton album 'Unknown Origin' in 2013. A deeper, rolling analogue groove is at play here, suddenly dropping to reveal the loopy, automaton vocal loop from Josh's original to awesome hypnotic effect.
Two distinctive, forward-thinking, visceral floor-focused remixes from one of techno's most respected, long-standing and prolific minds: Remix packages don't get any bigger than this.
