Longtime underground star Francesca Lombardo steps up to Ovum with a trio of superb new signature sounds. Italian Lombardo has been crisscrossing the globe and headlining all its most tasteful clubs and festivals for many years. Her powerful, heartfelt grooves have come on the most influential labels of the day and her critically acclaimed debut album 'Life of Leaf' showed that she can do all sounds and styles from downtempo to pop with equal skills. Her mix of innovation and compelling grooves continues on this latest EP. The vocals on the opener 'Magic Moment' are a poem Francesca's friend Victoria sent to her. She kept them for four years before ?nding the special inspiration that encouraged her to use them in these writing sessions. They lend the tune an intimate feel and draw you in deep to the elegant house drums and warming synths. It's an uplifting and classy tune with a standout Moog bassline that will lock in the floor. After the dub version is 'Sea,' a much more twisted and peak time techno tune. Josh Wink is as iconic as it gets in electronic music. The Philly artist crafted several of the genre's most enduring hits early in his career and has continued to remain at the forefront of the scene ever since. His Ovum label is part of the reason for that, as are superb new tunes like this one. Truncate is one of the new techno dons, known for his funky signature style of jackin’ tracks, along with crafting vast, all-consuming grooves that dominate dance floors. He has done so mostly on his own label and together the pair cook up some real magic on this new release. ‘Be Aware’ came about during a multi-day studio session at Truncate’s LA studio and is the first of two EPs that will be released from that same creative collaboration.Josh has been a fan of Truncate’s for years and had him remix his 2016 single 'Shoelaces' and 2017 single 'Resist', while in return Josh remixed Truncate’s 2017 tune 'Concentrate'. The timeless 'Be Aware' is a ghoulish techno track with freaky vocals that keep you looking over your shoulder. A sparse lead synth rises and falls to edgy effect, slick drums roll deep and unique tweaked effects flesh out this most well-crafted of tracks. Truncate offers his own impactful interpretation, where the tempo quickens and builds into an infectious powerful groove that has immense impact. Global techno titan Josh Wink returns to his own Ovum Recordings for big new single 'Balls Back', which comes with a remix from Marco Faraone. Philly-born DJ, legendary producer and the man behind many of techno's most iconic cuts, Josh Wink remains as prominent now as he did a quarter of a century ago. That is because of the constant sense of innovation in all he does, as well as his rare understanding of dance floor dynamics and mastery of his studio. Says Josh of his latest track, “Every time I play this people rush over asking 'what is this track that says “get your balls back”?' Its reaction after playing has been amazing and reassuring that it hits hard, works on the floor, and sticks in people's heads.“ He's not wrong: the powerful 'Balls Back' is a spatial, acid-tinged techno stormer that builds and builds until it ultimately explodes in signature Josh Wink fashion. The 303s are saturated in deep processing along with heavy 909 percussion and a ‘slap-you-in-your-face’ vocal sample that will lead to dance floor devastation. The dub version is a raw, stripped down and faster-paced bass jacker that turns up the heat, and a Balls Tool is also included for dexterous DJ deployment. Italian Marco Faraone is a fellow techno heavyweight and one of the scene’s most versatile producers. He has brought his always impactful sounds to labels like Drumcode, Rekids and Etruria Beat. "When playing this new track for the family at home. My partner stopped what she was doing and started dancing. Afterwards she waxed her feelings from the song saying how strong she felt from it and commented about how it seemed based on my astrological sign of my ruling planet Mars being in my Aries, and how the track had strong, powerful, fiery and fierce fast paced animalistic passion. So… I said 'Wow. Okay.' I went into the studio the next day and added the vocal, switching the two as it had a better rhythmic flow."

A bucket-list EP for the Gera-based artist whose followed and collected from Winks label since inception, Nova is both a personal showcase and a homage to a label thats inspired his tension-heavy signature. Adding to a discography that boasts some of most respected techno labels possible (Vakant, Mule Musiq, Watergate, Desolat, Freude Am Tanzen), the Nova EP flexs Kadens darkest and deepest tendencies and includes certain signatures that many of the best Ovum releases share: acid, a direct and effective single word sample, versions and a DJ tool that will blow your dancefloors heads off.

The acid mix of Nova sets the scene. Acid through Kadens perception; its warm, its subtle, it strips right back to a naked groove before thundering back into a head-shoeing finale with devastating effect. Its complemented by Mathiass alternative version; an atmospheric mix where the acid is switched out for rippling, dubby synths and a relentless drive that has just a touch of a French kiss to it. Loaded with a sweet shuffle in the percussion, you could lose your head in this for hours. Wink returns to the Ovum motherland after a year of big hitters on Intec, Boysnoize and R&S. And he's packing some serious substance.

The clue is in the title, the message is in the hypnotic signature vocal loop, the attitude is in the spiked-out sinewy tendrils of acid, sharped in the way only Josh knows how: 'Resist' is the sound a man who, like all of us, is confounded and frustrated with the current political and media climate. Tension, fear and adrenalin ripple throughout as we dynamically ride the tangible, visceral highs and lows in a quintessential classic Wink way.

Introducing Amberoom: a brand new name from three old friends… Manuel Tur, Adrian Hoffmann and Ramin Nouyan.
Operating in a similar mindset to Manuel's Ribn project a few years ago, Amberoom is a celebration of the freestyle spirit. Three mates and a bunch of machines jamming the day away with no intention but creating beautiful moments, dynamics and tones.
The spirit is evident from the off on 'Rhit': The mid tempo funk in the percussion, the breath-taking organ blasts, the casually late piano line… The track has a life of its own that could only come about through jamming and open minds. At points heads-down and tribal, at others epic, this really is powerful stuff.
The power continues on 'Hover'. The staggered woodblock beat that ignites the track gives no hint at what's about to come… Suddenly a dense fog of synths heave into the mix, harmonically weaving with a yearning cosmic far-away feel that's just as much physical as it is emotional. Genuinely majestic.
We close with 'Machine' which sums up the beauty of the project; a homage to the hardware being pumped and massaged to create these fusions, it's an awe-striking 11 minute episode of brilliantly drawn out deep, dubby funk. The guitar twangs and synth ripples creating a strong Balearic feel, the whirling, grainy FX and textures have a trippy appeal while the crunchy kicks keep everything real… This really does take you away to special places.
Magic, unique and powered by trueness: Let's hope Manuel, Adrian and Ramin return to this special place very soon because this is dynamite.

With over 25 years in the game, André Galluzzi can respectfully be awarded the veteran badge of honour. A mark of experience and longevity for an artist who has, as they say, been there and done it all. Today howeversees the German take on a new adventure, with his debut release for Josh Winks Ovum Recordings. As a DJ, André has held residencies at three of Germany and the worlds most influential Clubs - Tresor, Ostgutand Berghain. Been the driving force behind his own We Play Vinyl party. Managed his own Taksi (along side Paul Brtschitsch) and Aras Record labels and featured his own music on such highly acclaimed imprints as Cocoon, Cadenza, Ostgut Ton and Highgrade. Back in 2001, having released his seminal mix compilation, 'Im Garten', André embarked on a new series of events that regularly saw him play intoxicating sets of up to 10-hours. The parties went by the name of Submerge and those infamous Dj sets have inspired his beautiful brace for Ovum today. The metronomic kick drum of the title track introduces us to its immersive groove, whilst bubbling and elasticated fx vie for our attention, adding a sublime swing to Submerge. On the flip, Bold, by name and nature, ups the swing ante with its fierce acidic melody, shimmering hats and rasping snare.

Anton Pieete is known for his classic, textured take on House & Techno. The Dutchman has spent recent years exploring the reaches of his analogue set up, releasing a string of hugely popular EPs for Joris Voorns Rejected imprint. While it may be our starter; first dish Peven is definitely more of a main course. Heady and intoxicating with itspercussive, funky drums and undulating keys, its carries us on its woozy wave of rich analogue bass.

Our appetite is further satisfied by the deeper sophisticated tones of Lite Green. Its malleable, swinging groove is governed by its pulsating bassline and dense kick-drum as lazer synths sweep and claps fire on thisclassy cosmic jam.

BN300s dramatic and ghostly strings are at odds with its frenetic bouncing bass melody and yet together theywork in complete harmony to create our final musical indulgence from The Menu.

The entire EP was produced live, with Marco connecting his hardware, preparing the patterns and recordinglive to Tape, unedited. The result is four high quality dance floor tools, with a raw, dusty, old-school analogueedge. Whilst each track is untitled, they each have their own distinct feel; the first is a rolling journey of echoingsynths and hefty drums, whilst the second is a long-player featuring a cascade of acid-tinged stabs. On the Bside003 makes for a laid-back yet gritty 6 minutes, whilst 004 closes off the EP with layers of percussion overa thudding bassline.

Gel's production career exploded with Ovum almost 10 years ago with the iconic aforementioned 'Underground Bullshit' EP. Since then he's established relationships with some of Ovum's most respected, progressive contemporaries - Defected, Mobilee, Get Physical, Be As One - but now the Israeli craftsman is back at his spiritual home with three of his biggest tracks in recent times. Get to know:
Lean, stark, iced-out; 'Raver' was tailored for Ovum. Every element plays a key role; from the oak-trunk kicks to the bellowing subs to the demonic downpitched spoken sermon by way of the life-support machine rhythmic texture... Everything comprised to create a subtle, restrained but wholly dark tech groove that refuses to quit.
With a refreshing sense of contrast, 'Optical' slaps hard from the off as a plucked riff springs from out of nowhere. A true drama-raiser that fluctuates back and forth, causing every other element from the kicks right the way up to the percussion to follow its tense pattern. Drop this and watch the panic unfold before your very eyes.
Finally we hit 'Akasa'. Tapping into the EP's heritage theme with its timeless, almost bouncy acid line, Gel establishes a tangible sensation of physical funk with increasing percussive elements and a synth lick that gets decidedly trippy and unpredictable. Ovum welcomes Leftbank Records co-boss Dudley Strangeways: a UK house and techno DJ rooted with serious residency stripes at the legendary Back To The Future Parties and appearances at the likes of Boiler Room. Hot off the back of releases on StarDub, Little Helpers and Made Of Concrete comes his Ovum debut; three tracks made constructed for one sole purpose… Melting minds in the darkest of rooms.
'Keep It Clean' is twistedly simple; a rump-busting roll in the drum department and paranormal pad leave space for a precision tuned tone that warps with the gravitas of a life support machine. Sinewy, cold and deliciously disconcerting, Dudley ensures funk and focus with delicately placed rhythmic elements and constant fluctuations.

Next we find ourselves breaking into an early 90s warehouse as 'Transition' whisks us on an acid trip with flurries of jack and a lean lead line that slithers through the ever-mutating drums and occasional FX hailstorms. Devilishly futuristic and tailored for those deep long blends, the stripped back extensive nature of this guarantees mixing bliss.

Nacho Marco's 'Warm Trax Vol. 1' was an Ovum highlight in 2015 and a much welcomed return to the label for the Spanish producer. Vol. 1 with its rich analogue textures and acidic flair, picked up a wealth of support. Today Nacho returns with Vol. 2 and a new trio of Trax for our trip.

One of the most acclaimed DJ's and producers from Spain, Nacho Marco's rich musical history is evident in all of his productions. As comfortable creating a peak time acid number as he is rolling the depths of house, Nacho is clearly influenced by the early sounds of Chicago and acid house and always delivers a modern twist on what is a timeless sound. It's one thing to take influence from the past, but its quite another to ensure that you keep on pushing forward.

Hypnotic and sparse, Afterlife opens the Ep with its bubbling acid line and stripped, raw beats that bring you back to the Warehouse.

Let's Play continues with the acid theme as it ripples away under a drowsy bassline, broken by tight snare and shining hats that build to peak time bliss.

Finally we're treated to the smooth balearic vibes of Tell Me Something, with its hooky piano riff and smooth synth chords. Sunset/rise anyone?

'Recourse' is special. Teaming up with LA word-painter Cari Golden, his fluctuating, body-popping groove is peppered with barbed purring poetry that's part existential, part party, all unique: Cari matching MANIK's every bobbing bass texture, MANIK matching Cari's every observation, everything about 'Recourse' is distinctive, exciting and full of fresh energy.
Momentum maintained throughout; things take an unexpected dubby twist as the 'VHS' shimmers and ripples with synth insistency. Ovum are proud to present a very special remix release as Josh Wink's 2015 future-shocker 'Denial' enjoys not one but two versions from Luke Slater.
Splitting his complex multi personality across two sides, the UK techno lifer explores his innermost dual psyche to create two wholly different tracks. Both of which reflect the strengths of the original while taking it into vastly different directions.
First up: Planetary Assault Systems. One of Luke's oldest and boldest alter-egos, here he provides a nuclear powered bulldozer of a version. Fission hisses and mechanical rasps wrap around the undulating groove that charge relentlessly with a dark funk coded into the bass. Watch out for the additional percussion and brash snares midway for added atom-splitting momentum.
LB Dub Corporation follows. One of Luke's shyer personas, this is the first LB Dub Corp production since his Ostgut Ton album 'Unknown Origin' in 2013. A deeper, rolling analogue groove is at play here, suddenly dropping to reveal the loopy, automaton vocal loop from Josh's original to awesome hypnotic effect.
