Originally released in 1991 the EP features the production style of Andrew 'Rags' Richardson with some co-production assistance from one Roger Sanchez. It perfectly encapsulates the style of music that would be played at clubs like the Loft, Shelter, Zanzibar and beyond, a more emotive and soulful strain of House that gives a respectful nod to it's Disco roots. A creation of the master at work himself Mr. Louie Vega, alongside Mood II Swing's Lem Springsteen, 'Beautiful People' is one of those mid 90's NYC jams that ticks all the boxes. A record that was built for huge sound systems and joyous packed, sweaty dancefloors and one that features the supreme vocal skills of Barbara Tucker in full flow. It has all the trappings of a classic. The A-side is the same as the original 1994 pressing with the now legendary 'Underground Network' mix opening proceedings, a roof-raising piece of organ led, gospel tinged goodness complete with it's iconic 'deep deep inside, deep down inside' vocal refrain slap bang in the middle for the sample spotters. Also included are the wonderfully stripped back and bumping 'Beautiful Reprise' mix and the original monster 'Club Mix' which sees Louie's MAW cohort Kenny Dope Gonzales at the desk on mixing duties (again, rinsing the amazing 'deep inside' vocal to great effect) and finally, to round off this essential package we are treated to a deep as you like Mood II Swing dub mix that is all swirling pads and organs, taking us into the early hours in style. A more solid and essential repress of a classic record you'd be hard pressed to find!

The epitome of an evergreen, all-time classic release. Masters At Work Louie Vega and Kenny Dope were on a major roll in this era, producing, remixing, dj-ing and everything in-between, these guys put in ridiculous work. They are joined on this EP by a roll-call of names and collaborators, Erick Morillo engineering the title track? Check. Maurice Joshua on co-production duties? You got it. Vocals by Ms. Barbara tucker? They're there. Killer, rock hard drums? Stacks of Soul? Masterfully chopped up Disco samples? All present. Serious stuff. Sometimes a record just manages to capture and distill the true essence of what this is all about and 'Deep Inside' is one such record, it bears all the hallmarks of golden era MAW, all the signposts of what was happening in NYC's clubs in the early to mid 90's were there within it's grooves. Incredible, stone cold classic house music from the mighty Wayne Gardiner, a truly underrated producer whose output has remained evergreen over the decades and is definite deep house royalty. 'Moments In House' is from 1990, unbelievable really when you hear how fresh it sounds today. The clue is in the title, this is a killer version of Art Of Noise's seminal 'Moments In Love', a landmark record in itself. Gardiner pays tribute to the Art with his stripped, funky and driving use of their infamous pads and tones, a nod to the NYC / NJ clubs where records such as 'Moments In Love' would have been deemed the classics of the day. 'Just A Touch' is on the flip, a beautifully deep and bassline driven cut that evokes the spirit of Larry Heard, but doesn't borrow too heavily from him while carving out it's own late night sonic niche. One for the dancers and the lovers of the deepness. It's hard to top records like this, from the dawn of house music's golden age, innocent and uncomplicated yet oozing with soul and depth. Both versions are hard enough for the heads, but musical enough for the dancers who are deep in the speaker stack. Brilliant stuff for House lovers old and new. This one's a tasty 2017 reissue and remaster, featuring all cuts, unedited, as per the original release way back when. Essential stuff here. Do not sleep. A worthy addition to any DJ's bag.

MUSIC FOR A SUNDOWNER – Melodic AOR / Yacht Rock from GermanyTramp fans will already be familiar with the band "People", as they were featured on the latest edition of the "Praise Poems" series (Volume 9, TRLP/CD-9109). "Misty Mood" was not only the song we included on Praise Poems 9 but also the title of their debut album from 1981. However, it wasn't their first release on Vinyl.In 1969, two years after the group was founded, a 7-inch single EP with four folk songs was released, by then under the name "The People". With Woodstock and the changes in folk and rock music in the early 1970s, bandleader Bernd Heyder dissolved the band. A few years later he founded "People", whose sound was now based on artists such as Crosby, Stills and Nash and Neil Young. After many frenetically celebrated live performances, the desire to record a full length album arose at the end of the 1970s. In 1981 the time had come and "Misty Mood" was released on a small, local label called "Ohrwurm Records". Just one year later the band released their second album titled "Easy Going". Their third and final album, which exclusively contains songs with German lyrics, was released on CBS Records in 1983. CBS wanted to sign Bernd Heyder as a solo artist, but he politely declined. When the hoped-for success failed to materialize, CBS prematurely terminated the band's contract. In 1984, "People" disbanded.With the stunning LP release "Natures Melody", Tramp Records honors Aschaffenburg's "People" after almost 45 years. The reason why no one has really taken an interest in them so far may be because the original Vinyl records are anything but rare. For the 'people' behind Tramp Records, this is absolutely insignificant, it's simply the music what counts. And the songs are so extraordinary that we are proud to set up a special monument to the band with this album.

"I’ve never met Rod Modell (Deepchord) in person, but we have met through music. He found an obscure cassette of Chi music (from ’86), sent it to Astral Industries and paved the way for the release (30 years later) of ‘The Original Recordings’ in 2016. Since then, we’ve exchanged ideas and good music. I sent Rod a preview of ‘The Kallikatsou Recordings’ - he really liked it - and here came the idea for a remix of ‘Lanterns’. I started working on some random, lo-fi samples from Youtube, using Audacity, perhaps the simplest way of producing loops and samples. It’s the only computer based system that feels like the tape recorders I used to work with. I sent the first sketches to Rod on Facebook, but they ended up in the wrong inbox. I forgot about them, but months later he came back saying he loved them. I decided to go back to working on them, maintaining the lo-fi approach. I began manipulating the samples: time-stretching, tempo and pitch-shifting, mixing different layers and adding old-school monophonic “old speaker” effects, delays and loops. I used a few field recordings, voices and samples from my early ambient cassettes, and they matched. Ario from Astral Industries got involved and the experiment turned into a plan - a vinyl release - ‘Red Lantern at the Kallkatsou’”.

This title is on its way to stand along with the label’s most important classics, a genuine anthem for the Berlin techno institute.

twisted corners with ‘Basement Trax’, going back towards ‘The Upstairs Lounge’ and surprising his audience with some original

clubbing experiences. I have a permanent snapshot in my mind from the vibe I remember at the Music Institute in Detroit, or the
Shelter in NYC. So I vibe o of that quite often. In terms of house, it's usually based around strong chord progressions, and very
colorful and expressive sounds. For techno, it can be a mixture of both, or purely abrasive and dance floor driven.
Music is reciprocal. I have coined or phrased a term called "the reciprocal relationship" in music. The reciprocal relationship in
music demonstrates that tones excite chords, and chords excite tones. Here's an example to further elaborate on that: A chord
can invoke a specific feeling within the listener. But the strength or degree in which a feeling is invoked within the listener has a

'Sundials' (feat Nathan Haines) immediately soothes the soul with its lunging chords and seductive sax lines. Occasional female coos add further lushness to this most heartwarming of tunes. 'Second Nature' has a little more height and drive to it but again the drums are warm and fuzzy, the chords smeared in artful ways and the overall vibe utterly heady. Last of all is the bubbly and dubby 'Gotta Let It Go' with its bottomless depths and chords that melt off into an infinite horizon. Gorgeous stuff from this always quality artist.

A label that respects and understands the connection between these disparate and sometimes forgotten forms of musical expression and celebrates them. Midnight Drive are extremely proud to present this most beautiful and unique of records - Makers 'Don't Challenge Me' - A truly idiosyncratic early 70's electronic oddity that has long been a coveted and highly prized piece of music by obscure music lovers for many years. Makers was the moniker for another studio project by legendary euro-disco pioneer Boris Midney. Midney, a Russian ex-pat, explored his own sonic world and in the process crafted some of the biggest records during the most fertile times in the disco period, he created numerous projects including Beautiful Bend, USA-European Connection, Caress and many more. A classically trained musician and jazz artist, his trail-blazing studio work meant he was one of the first producers to embrace the capabilities of multi-track mixing in a most creative way. Listening to this 45, a limited release on his own 'Midney' micro label, you can certainly hear genius at work, it's mind boggling that this record was crafted when it was (1972) as it sounds totally ahead of it's time and sounds exciting and original to this day.
