innershades - Ready When U Are
If there was any mild concern about maintaining our namesake, this next release should put them to bed. Having been a big fan of Innershades productions since hammering 'That Girl' and 'Inside Your Mind' to death, it's pleasing to have found each other. Resulting in SIX absolute bangers from Belgium - from the trance chugger for that Weatherall warm up, to the acid thumper for your b2b with Hauff - we've got you covered. Not only Belters by name..

Innershades - Dance Opera (New Mix)
Innershades comes with a follow up on his Clone Jack For Daze debut from 2019 with his buddy Betonkust.. This time he digs in the local history from his homebase Belgium. The country that brought us the New Beat craze which had its breeding grounds in club's such as Boccaccio. A venue which used to be one of the prime locations in the Benelux to hear the latest House and Techno releases in '89,'90 and '91. All the fresh new sounds from Chicago, Detroit, the big New York labels and producers, Early UK rave and of course the local producers from the Benelux and specificaly those on labels such as R&S, Music Man and USA Import records could be heard in this euphoric club. No surprise that Serge, the founder of Clone records has some fond memories of his visits to Boccaccio and no surprise that this era always has been a huge influence on Innershades. This Homage EP brings a collection of tracks drenched in bleepy acid lines, topped with choir pads and slightly detuned slowly phased chords and dominant mixed bass sections. Energetic tracks that capture the spirit of those days with a contemporary touch from Innershades. Tracks that fit perfectly to the Clone Jack For Daze series inspired by these early days, where people danced for daze on all these energetic and futuristic sounds from the underground.

Innershades - Ravesignal
Over the last years a rehabilitation of the New Beat genre has taken place. Short-lived it succumbed under its own immense popularity at the beginning of the nineties, watered down once producers with an eye for commercial success - and not quality control - joined in on its seemingly easy recipe. Below the surface a lot of highly original tracks remain to be enjoyed however: the sound, with its unique mix of amongst others Chicago acid house and Belgian EBM, reveals itself to be an essential node in electronic music's Trans-Atlantic trajectory. Innershades has been a longtime enthusiast of the genre and made it a focal point of attention on "Heritage Vol. 1", the first part of a series that celebrates his inspirations and influences. Rather than making a selection of style exercises, he opts to subtly inject his tech and progressive productions with some of its tropes. It is a blend that comes naturally as menacing melodies and throbbing pulses are vital to his sound. Monolithic drum sequences, consisting of propulsive four to the flour kick drums and gated snares, run throughout the EP. On "This Is Belgium" this clear-cut rhythm structure leaves ample space for the bassline to glide and glint against the frantic SH-101 leads, while a deadpan vocal points out the release's theme. In a similar way a 303 runs havoc on "Eternal Voices". Hazy pads and understated dashes of melody furtherly infuse the track with a sense of emotive call and response. Just like most of its source material, it aims for high NRG via a low BPM. "The After Hours Club" lets a gnarled square bass line and a resonance intensive lead interplay until they get interrupted by a possibly familiar sounding news bulletin sample. "Rave Signal" finally combines an ever-modulating, hypnoid lead, silky string layers and a slab of trusty solid bass. The energetic track epitomizes Innershades's contemporary palette - it is a fitting conclusion to a record that renders regard for its precursors into current day dancefloor fervor.

Belgian Thomas Blanckaert aka Innershades debuts in Cartulis with what could be his strongest work to date. 5 tracks representing his best shades of Techno/Electro.
On the A side you will find Deviation. A instant classic with special participation from Mutado Pintado on the vocals. Electro Emotions keeps the rawness of classic electro while injecting groove to the dancefloor with a touch of nostalgia.
Flip the record and you will find Heaven on Earth. Rolling techno with class synths. B2 The Acid Never Dies comes in original Innershades formula. Powerful kicks with uplifting chords and pads while the acid stimulates the brain. The Last Day closes the EP with literally a "closing" feeling. More

Innershades presents a heavy and vibrant trip through electro, techno and acid on Ocular Unity, the 12th release on Berlin's Mechatronica.
Following up on his "Aalst To Charlois" rave weapon released on the label last year, the Belgian producer continues to push his signature sound in new directions, maintaining harmony and once again underlining his undeniable strength in producing hypnotizing electronic music for the floor.
From the A-side's fast paced force in "Ocular Design" and "Cycle of Life", to the introspective journey "Zuiderpark" and all-powerful slow drive of "End Life", Innershades comes full circle on Ocular Unity and adds another stellar record to his already impressive discography. More

After inaugurating the label with a first EP in december of 2014, Innershades returns home to deliver what will be the 6th release on 9300 Records. Kerrebroek Memories is the self made soundtrack of his childhood memories in the shared hometown of Aalst (Belgium). Expect to hear a homage to early Dutch electro with a modern twist and Innershades well known trademark for dancefloor injected house tracks. Rising Dutch star and new BFF of the Belgian 9300 family 'Betonkust' polished the A1-listed 'Darkness Fades' track into a melodious electro classic.

The last few years have seen Belgian artist Innershades turn out plenty of rugged house on labels like Creme Organization and Pinkman, and now returns to the former with a four track EP on Dutch label Creme. The prolific producer shows he still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve across all four cuts and stitches in acid, jack and Chicago styles with his own sense of charm. The Kings comes hard and fast out of the blocks with big hits, wild synths and raved-up vibes that will have you punching the air. Knowledge is another banger with powerful kicks and globular bassline run through with more ravey sirens, but this time is a little more haunted. Crossing Paths is all about a simple but effective bassline that bounces along and takes you with it in ways similar to an Omar S joint, then Wait is the most stripped back and mysterious of the lot with cosmic melodies panning about in a spacious and airy deep house groove. Utterly timeless from start to finish, this is another massively effective offering from Innershades.

Following on from the release of Innershades' No Stopping EP on Creme Organization last summer, the Dutch label revisits the a-side cut 'Nina' with two remixers in tow. Those remixers are Bristol's bass pioneer Kowton and the inimitable production duo of Tuff City Kids. Unterton and Delsin duo Gerd Janson & Phillip Lauer aka Tuff City Kids turn in a bulky, piano laced and acid riddled remix of 'Nina' that is a pure party starter. Idle Hands and Hessle Audio man Kowton reworks 'Nina' into something run through with plenty of sirens, raw, crunchy drum loops and rolling percussive lines. It's stormy and tumultuous and is full of frosty textures. These are two abrasive tracks designed for maximum impact on the dancefloor.

These will drop over the remainder of the year on Belters and we're very excited to hear and share all these new interpretations. The first one is easily the heaviest record on Belters to date. Headed up by Hodge, who can do no wrong to our ears and as expected, he's turned in a stomper. This is well matched with the thundering effort by Toronto-via-Cairo's DINA. On the other side, Deena Abdelwahed does the damage with a wonky number, alongside Glasgow's boy wonder, Pseudopolis who drops the pace but keeps the heat.

2019 is shaping up to be a great year yet with more of the same focus on championing new and emerging artists; alongside the more established. But before all that.. Belfast is the first port of call as DJ and producer Jordan delivers a variety of party thumpers. With thanks to AVA festival and the invincible Bicep going from strength to strength; the Belfast scene is enjoying a moment with the likes of Bobby Analog, Cromby and Hammer all breaking through to greater recognition. Jordan has equally been keeping busy between releases on Abandon Silence and launching his own edits label through Lobster Theremin.. So the stars are aligning for this release, which typifies what the label is about. Each track could easily be the ‘A1’ and it’s already been doing the damage with the likes of Tim Sweeney, Erol Alkan and a select few, until now.. Expect to hear much more from each over the year ahead.

New Belters straight out of Barvaria! In a nice bit of serendipity, our old pal Bostro Pesopeo (BLTRS010) introduced us to his Barvarian buddies, Dominik Marz & David Kochs. Like all great music, it's difficult to pinpoint what this sounds like exactly - but Toronto's Block Univers have cited their influences to include "boogie, house music, cold wave synths, gospel vocals, 808s and moog basslines" - so that would go some way to explaining the magic here. We tried to jam in as many of our favourites on this release as possible. More BANG for your buck!

After kicking off the year with releases by Wheelman and General Ludd, we’re very pleased to announce that Naum Gabo completes our recent trilogy of releases from Glasgow based artists. Alongside Ivan Smagghe, it’s no secret that Optimo have been a huge influence around these parts and having released Ivan’s Smagghe & Cross project on Belters last year, it’s a huge honour to work with Naum Gabo - the production partnership of Jonnie Wilkes (JG Wikes of Optimo) and James Savage (Mastering Engineer for Optimo Music). Fittingly enough, Naum Gabo played live at the first ever Optimo related parties we attended at the Sub Club back in 2005 and Jonnie’s influential and supportive presence has been felt over the years as we started to become more involved in the Glasgow scene and as the label developed. So it didn’t require much thought to do this release before we had even heard these new Naum Gabo tracks…they are absolute slammers of the highest order! Really big release, bringing to our minds the likes of Errorsmith. Belters is a new club-focussed label brought to you by Huntleys + Palmers.

We've been big fans of General Ludd from the start and are delighted to finally release something from them. These three tracks were made specifically to be played live during their Panorama Bar debut and it's pretty easy to imagine them rocking the joint! Superb dark and trippy groovers destined to go straight in the bag of Craig Richards and Ricardo.

As Huntleys + Palmers events has drawn to a close, 2018 will see a big focus in releasing some brilliant new music and introducing some amazing new artists. First up is Wheelman - straight out of Glasgow and fresh off the back of his debut for our Studio Barnhus buddies. To our shame, it took a Kornel Kovacs trip to Rubadub to bring to our attention a real talent who was under our now the whole time! He'd even been to a bunch of our parties and we'd never made the connection.. Righting this wrong, we promptly hit him up for music to include on a 'Clyde Built' compilation and they were so good, we designated the bulk of these tracks to this release - 5 absolute BELTERS!
