The 'Floors' EP begins its ascent with "1st Floor". Complex and unique in their take on electronica, the trio's undercurrent of jazz infused percussion plays the ideal host for soulfully sung vocals and a constantly morphing soundscape below. As glorious xylophone's hum against bubbling pockets and raw hand claps, organic vocals glide whilst effected pockets pierce. Evolving extravagantly through poignant guitar solos and tip-tapping hats, "Floor 1's" musicality is perfectly chaotic as it pitter-patters to its own forgiving beat in a captivating, refreshing air.

Next level "2nd Floor" is equally mesmerizing with its eight minutes of building roll and infectious groove. After launching Dissonant in 2010, not only did Marc Antona put out three highly praised EPs on his label, he also turned his own vision of organic electronic music into a full length album "Rules Of Madness". Marc releases now the fourth and final vinyl extract, 'Rules Of Madness - Part 4', a perfect place for two uncommon creative tracks that reveal the very wide range Dissonant can bring to your ears!

"Last Taboo" beholds the A-side and portrays the delicate, coy and ambient side of 'Rules Of Madness', yet keeps the rhythm shaking. This is the track of well-accepted contrasts: an incredibly melodic ethereal piano flitting between tranquillity and minor-key chaos on one side; a strong growing rhythm, almost recalling tropical forest tribal dances on the other side! "Last Taboo" is the finest example of how emotions can change from one minute to the next, supported by its tender piano turned into a hypnotic house gimmick at the end. As we arrive at the half-way point, a rounded bass line storms through to take full control, forcing us to surrender to its undeniable funk.

On the flip, a charming and witty character stars in the "The Hammock Spider Story": his spellbinding tale of drug-taking spiders brings warmth and humour to this release. Set over a captivating rolling rhythm and a strong melodic line, the hammock spider weaves and builds in a percussive and freaky manner. However, he is not the only character in this tale; his musical counterpart spins a web of movement with bounding bass lines and hissing closed hats perpetuating the groove. Aside from this, there is also beauty within "The Hammock Spider Story", with a bed of subtle strings and sexy bells mirroring the hats. An inspiringly unique take on electronic music.

Two DJs, one tracklist. Probably for the first time in the history of dance music a release focuses on extracting the pure sound signature of the DJ. When the tracks to choose from are limited to one playlist, the sequencing decisions and mix styles of the DJs reveal their individualities. As well as the different possibilities the music allows when formed into one continuous stream. "Macrospective" is the first conceptual double mix offering a 1 on 1 comparison of the art of DJing with two masters of the craft. But you'll also love it for being a comprehensive retrospective of one of the most intriguing contemporary label catalogues in electronic music.
The two mixes by Macro founders Stefan Goldmann and Finn Johannsen highlight key works of the label (including poll winners The Maze, Law Of Return, Arcade & Lunatic Fringe), bringing out the versatility and individuality of each track. Great music allows for more than a single interpretation. Who could better suggest one than the A&Rs behind Macro and the resident DJs at the label's residency at Berlin's legendary Berghain club?
Finn Johannsen's mix is a one-take live journey through build-ups, peaks and comedowns, but also detours, distractions and surprises. Stefan Goldmann's alternative take is a carefully constructed "architectural" mix, locking specific turning points of the tracks to form an 80 minutes dramatic composition of Macro's essence. By the way, both DJ mixes are vinyl mixes. In an era of dull mp3s, the aesthetics of Macro's carefully cut record releases are the basis for this double album.

Love it or leave it. STL has done it again. Another four tracker of raw electronic beats and mind rumbling grooves. Jacking house tracks composed on analog hardware, executed without any static computer arrangements, to keep the true spirit and feeling of each session alive. These sounds are like mad colourful old school gaming, taking the listener on adventures to head, feet and soul in all it´s full maniac beauty. Number 17 of the something vinyl series is another lovely manifest of an artist mind picture which is not easy to categorysize. Surely it won´t fit in any style and ear, but those who are already sold to STL´s lo-fi kind of sounds will get another dope piece of vinyl in order to make them dance and listen. In recent times it has been fashionable for European producers to try and recreate the classic sounds of Detroit. The true vibe and feel can surely only come from the City itself? As his name suggests, whilst we know very little about Anonym, we do know that he hails from the legendary Motor City, and the true essence of his home town can be heard and felt in his music. Classic sounds constructed with a modern touch. Gritty, raw and crying out for sweaty basements. In 2011 Anonym has finally arrived on Vakant and is set to release his first record on the label. His ‚Flivvers Vol.1 EP’ will be followed by Vol.2 later this year.
