Ryan Davis has been recording music since 2006. He has produced for Manual Music, Cocoon, Proton, Areal, Archipel, Back Home, Wunderbar and many other labels. Recently he has released two EPs with Traum. One can say without doubt, Ryan is a real artist and a tastemaker. John Tejada and Arian Leviste are back on Areal after their much celebrated release “Reactance“. These guys are working for 25 years together meeting up weekly in the studio to try new things. It was a hot summer day, no clouds in the big blue sky, as I suddenly got up to return my friends basketball after not returning it for more then 10 years. I don't know why I did it, I don't know why I had to do it right now. As I walked down the street holding that ball I was flooded with memories. The party at Michael's house. Those crazy Technokids from upper Austria. The drinks, the drugs, the girls, the blurry parts... One memory was especially blurry, the one where I pick up that basketball. I was alone in my friends garage, the repetitive sound of filtered kickdrums coming from inside the house. I remember feeling like I am not really alone. Flashy lights. My memory seemed to be coming back more and more the closer I get now. The garage door was open. I got inside. I try to put the ball back in the cardboard box where I took it from as the garage door closes. Darkness. A voice whispers: "I smell your sound and I eat your colors"

"What was the name of that moon again?" Captain Fairleys voice never misses its purpose. "All energy to the laser-cannons, we come in hard and we come in blasting!" Captain Fairley, the dreadful space-pirate, grabs the radio while he steers the ship with his wooden foot towards an attack position. "People of Dysnomia, come out of your cute little houses with your hands up high in the sky!" That's when the Dysnomians start running, as they all do, unable to accept the unavoidable. "How many percent on the Cannon?" he yells. "Sir, 100 percent Sir!" The Captain does not tend to over-think. "Fire!" And as the laser- cannon fires, the crew suddenly realize the Dysnomians are not as stupid as they thought they where. Instead of firing frightening laser-fire next to their homes to make them obey the mighty pirate and give up all their gold and Adamanthium, the ship itself gets fired away backwards into the endless emptiness of the Haumea nebula.

Wanted dead or alive, usually riding with the Kompakt gang as the Modernist / Bionaut or Burger/Ink (with one of the heavy Voigt brothers). Sid Le Rock, named after his big rock that he uses to club people over the head in their sleep. No one ever heard the half indian coming. Don`t ever pee on his tipi, seriously, don`t. / My favourite Robot Ada, she is one crazy cowgirl. Famous for her mysterious ability to dodge under the bullet in hundreds of duels. When she was supposed to be hung by her ponytail she made smokesignals with her cigarette, calling for her friend Sid to rescue her. Wanted dead or alive for unspeakable crimes for the Areal gang, IRR and Pampa.

After having blessed the world with "Soarex" released on our sublabel IRR (International Records Recordings), including a remix by Ada, we would now like to welcome von Spar to Areal. And this time, the remix comes from no other than techno legend John Tejada. With "Jon Voight", the Hamburg-based artists have created another epic masterpiece in line with their earlier electronic tracks: Great emotions, melodies you will never forget... in other words: a track that will send something of a shiver down your spine. Tejada, of Austrian decent now living in the United States, shows full respect for the original version and comes up with a remix that has proven immensely effective on the dancefloor. It so effective that we still find ourselves awestruck in the studio. Well, in the meantime, we have to admit that we went out to one or two parties, but only to find ourselves back in the studio again, still awestruck.
