Terence Fixmer returns to NovaMute with a new EP, The Swarm out on vinyl on 24 May 2019.
Terence Fixmer’s career has spanned two decades with releases on many acclaimed labels, most recently releasing his sixth solo album Through The Cortex, on Ostgut Ton. His sound deftly avoids repetition by developing soundscapes which maintain musical depth and integrity and he above all preserves an original style, an increasingly experimental, simultaneously ruthless and instantly recognizable aesthetic.
“The title track ‘The Swarm’, I made with the full Roland System 100 [1970s’s vintage semi-modular analogue synth]. I had been collecting all the individual parts of the System 100 and was happy to finally find the sequencer System 100-104. This was the first full track I created with it.”

The title of this new album by Vanessa Wagner refers to John Cage's Imaginary Landscape (1939), one of the first works to use electronic devices. After all, when Cage wrote his manifesto The Future of Music in the late 1930s, he already knew that the merging of written and electronic music would bear exquisite fruits.
The album is the lone protuberance from 2016 album Statea, on which Wagner, alongside producer Murcof (she on the piano, him manning the machines), reinterpreted pieces from the fathers of minimalism: Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass, Morton Feldman, Erik Satie, or John Cage.
The same secret conversation between the artist, the piano, and contemporary music is now continuing on Inland. Making more with less, the album turns long harmonies into multicolored prisms, miniature detailed embroidery, sighs and breaths, syncopated or restrained chants. In this brave new world, sounds exist for themselves, and silence comes to life. While the repertoire remains in the minimalistic vein, it gives priority to living composers, of which almost all are still active.
The repertoire's cartography has been extended: its (male or female) composers can be American, of course, but also French, Belgian, German or Latvian.
The choice of works and their sequencing was dreamed up as a sort of storytelling. Between familiar melodies and unknown rarities, the pianist dug deep to find previously unreleased pieces.
Within the cornucopia of Wagner's career, Inland stands as a hitherto unknown intimate and dream-like space. The album is both the fruit of her maturity and a new temporality that she is now exploring - a secret conversation between her spirituality and the deep connection she maintains with nature, the elements, and living matter.
The Inland journey begins with the vision of iconoclastic Moondog, who claudicates over a modest ritornello, and continues with French composer Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch's Louella, like a volatile caress. On the way, we come across familiar figures like Philip Glass, and rediscover Michael Nyman's The Heart Asks Pleasure First, as Wagner's fingers transfigure the cult piece, rendering it with delicate sensuality.
At the origin of the source, German composer Han Otte plays entrancing magic tricks with the fluids that spring henceforth; on the horizon, the inescapable Meredith Monk draws us into his hypnotic circles; elsewhere, Bryce Dessner is takes us on an odyssey; a dream filled with characters who guide us to boundless territories, and William Susman breaks down boundaries under the harmonic mists and mute rhythms of Quiet Rhythms.
At the end of our travels, we find a blank canvas of quiet nature, a clearing in which Latvian composer Peteris Vasks invites us to listen to the suspended silences.
When the album is over, the spirit of Inland continues to stir inside the listener's mind, in hazy reverie, clouds of nostalgia emanate from Vanessa Wagner's piano.

London Records are releasing a limited edition vinyl boxset of Blancmange's first three albums - Happy Families (1982), Mange Tout (1984) and Believe You Me (1985). Each release includes the original album (remastered), plus B-sides, extended versions, remixes, previously unreleased tracks and demos.
Happy Families, released in 1982, feels like a fully-formed electronic pop classic. Highlights include 'Living On The Ceiling' (a striking #7 hit in '82 thanks to its mix of electronics with tabla and sitar), the melancholia of 'Waves', 'Feel Me's call-and-response electro-funk, the intense 'I Can't Explain' and 'God's Kitchen' which is an early example of Neil Arthur's gift with images and wordplay.
Blancmange's second album, Mange Tout reached # 8 in the UK charts in 1984 and spawned more hits - notably 'Blind Vision' (#10), 'Don't Tell Me' (#8) and their fantastic cover of ABBA's 'The Day Before You Came' (much loved by ABBA who let them use footage from their original video for the Blancmange promo). It signals another change for the band's music, now increasingly built around deep, propulsive dance grooves.
The third and final Blancmange album of the 1980s, Believe You Me was released in 1985 and features bitter-sweet pop songs such as 'Lose Your Love', 'Don't You Love It All' and 'What's Your Problem.'

Marvin & Guy return in full glory to Permanent Vacation after their 2017 Fire! Fire! EP. This time Marvin & Guy, or Alessandro & Marcello, if you like, explore all of those influences throughout their musical career. On the title track "Hint of '92" they clearly pay tribute to that Techno/Trance from early 90s we all fell in love with at least one time.
But they are not all about the pure retroness, instead M&G approach the matter with a contemporary point of view and their distinctive production knowledge. The track also features fellow Italian Marika from Underspreche on vocals, who also contributed a Discoid remix to the original.
"Discoteque" may remind you of the early Marvin & Guy sound: rough, chunky, rocky and full of disco-ish energy. While "Colours" is a calmer, yet mental trip, with delays that the Idjut Boys would be proud of.

Marvin & Guy return in full glory to Permanent Vacation after their 2017 Fire! Fire! EP. This time Marvin & Guy, or Alessandro & Marcello, if you like, explore all of those influences throughout their musical career. On the title track "Hint of '92" they clearly pay tribute to that Techno/Trance from early 90s we all fell in love with at least one time.
But they are not all about the pure retroness, instead M&G approach the matter with a contemporary point of view and their distinctive production knowledge. The track also features fellow Italian Marika from Underspreche on vocals, who also contributed a Discoid remix to the original.
"Discoteque" may remind you of the early Marvin & Guy sound: rough, chunky, rocky and full of disco-ish energy. While "Colours" is a calmer, yet mental trip, with delays that the Idjut Boys would be proud of.

Thirty years after its original release in West Berlin, Tresor Records is glad to present a re-mastered and re-cut edition of TV Victor's legendary debut album Moondance.
TV Victor, one of Tresor's spearhead artists since the label's very first hour, is an alias of Udo Heitfeld. In 1989, TV Victor launched his first solo project under the form of Moondance. Chen Yi aims for a collective approach of art. As an isolated group of humans/numbers operating directly from
a secret place in Chelmsford (UK), they developped a personnal and "bizarre" utilisation of guitars, machines,
voices, distortion, giving as result an unconventional regroupment of compositions amongst a lot of
lost/unreleased recordings. This is likely what got John Peel interested which leads to an inexplicable CBS
contract. More couldn't be finalised, because CBS suddenly pulled out of the contract. "Due to their raw and
alternative 'self-made' musical approach, they've been compared to the likes of Throbbing Gristle, Borghesia &

CTHI Records is back again after a little pause given by the development of the Jaxx Madicine project started initially by the label founder Parker Madicine and Turbojazz. Through out this time the label has productively been joined by Veezo, italian pianist and producer, for the making of their Distant Classic album and various EP’s and remixes published on many different international labels as Local Talk, Visions Rec, Dirt Crew and Eureka. CTHI is now ready , after the recent Japanese tour as Jaxx Madicine Trio, to be again the front stream for the debut EP of Veezo ‘Monolith’. An 8 tracks EP playing the essential “manifesto" and inspiring heritage of the artist. Raw and dirty grooves made in 12bit res, tape delays and acid Ms20 arps on top of which you’ll appreciate afro elements, warm rhodes and pad chords allowing you to perceive the whole Veezo musical ambient creativity. Two singing tracks - unique featurings by David Shorty and the Technoir Duo - are providing deep house/boogie atmospheres and jazzy spiritual moods. We are proud to showcase more Bay Area family with the release of a new EP by Doc Sleep who cut her chops as a DJ in San Francisco's vibrant scene the past decade. In 2016 she made the move to Berlin and became a resident of Room 4 Resistance. Since 2013, she's been the co-owner of Jacktone Records, which specializes in techno, ambient, and experimental electronics. In 2016/2017 she released her first 12's on the Hot Mass-affiliated Detour Records and Bottom Forty. She also co-wrote a track with Bezier and Nicole Ginelli, titled "Stranger," that we released on the 'Primes' EP in 2017. Her latest release, 'Your Ruling Planet', was released on Jacktone in March 2019. We first heard "Creme Fraiche" on Doc's soundcloud page and begged to release it. The track has the feel-good vibes you get on early morning dancefloors as things are winding down or up. Paired on the A-side is the pulsating dark jam "Never Eating Again" that previously appeared on 'Run The Length Of Your Wildness V.2' and, like that compilation, proceeds from this track will be donated to Ghost Ship Fire victim Cherushii's family. On the B-side are two remixes from close friends of Doc. First up is a fresh breakbeat remix from Violet: DJ, producer, boss of Naive records, co-founder of Radio Quantica, and mina resident shaking up Lisbon's nightlife. Second is Berlin-based producer and fellow R4R resident, rRoxymore, who presents an innovative remix of future-facing techno and bass variations adding her own vocals on top. For this release we've teamed up with Jacktone to release a cassette version, our first in this format, featuring two peak-time bonus tracks. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each copy is housed in jacket designed by Eloise Leigh with neon pink and lavender gradients echo morning sunrises with a collage of dreamy elements using a photo by Doc of Club Toilet in Detroit.

Poté returns to Benji B’s Deviation Music following the release of his acclaimed debut album 'Spiral, My Love' last year. 'Waters of Praslin' is the first in of a run of club-focused 12"s from the artist entitled the Versiclub series. St. Lucia born and London-raised, Poté (real name Sylvern Mathurin) has always been drawn to African diasporic futuristic beats from baile funk to kuduro and gqom. Before Benji stepped in to release his debut record Poté put out multiple EPs for Enchufada, the independent record label founded by his spiritual forbearers in Lisbon, Buraka Son Sistema. The Brazilian influence is definitely evident in opening track 'Jacquot (Waters of Praslin)', with its afro-samba rhythm laced with the metallic synth work of UK bass. Track 2, 'Sirens' feels like a future dance floor favourite that channels UK funky, dub step and of course the power of the siren in the dance. "Waters of Praslin is my homage to the people and spirit of my hometown, Praslin in St.Lucia. These are the waters which gave us life, stories, joy and memories” says Poté “these waters saw many of us grow and and eventually pass."

'When you put on the first track on the album 'Antisocial Background 2017 - 2019 by Mythologen your likely to think: 'this is THAT kind of an album', and fell happy with that. But Mythologen aka Alexander Palmestal is not 'THAT' kind of an artist and this album reflects his broad musical background. It spans from Japan to USA, from the 70s to the 00s and from cold concrete floors to fluffy cotton clouds. Palmestal, with a background in bands such as Pistol Disco and Iberia now releases his second full-length album on Hoga Nord Rekords The album is a play with emotions and genres, with unexpected meetings between major and minor keys and is a collection of tracks where Jungle, Electro, House, Synth and Big Beat are deconstructed and put together as relevant contemporary dance music. The production on 'Antisocial background' sometimes sound like a more electronic version of Boredoms but most of the time it puts the listener on the British isles and in the 90's. Palmestal pays respect to his masters but he is not in any way too careful with their legacy and let, just as on his debut album, influences from the 1970's and 80's Nigeria and Soweto.'

Ze Roberto aka Joaquim Roberto Braga is a composer, singer and instrumentalist from Brazilian folk music roots.
'Lotus 72 D' is a tribute to the Brazilian Formula 1 world champion driver of 1972, Emerson Fittipaldi.
In Roberto's own words:
"Lotus 72 D is a tribute to the sensational talent of Formula 1 driver, Emerson Fittipaldi, who was crowned world champion in 1972.
I can't remember the names of the musicians who participated in the recording because they were hired by the original record label, RCA/Victor. The production team consisted of artistic co-ordinator, Henrique Gastaldello, and arranger, Severino Filho. The year of recording was 1973. I'm not aware of another fast version of the song 'Lotus 72 D'…
My contract with the RCA/Victor was for 2 years. All my musical works belongs to me.”
The mystery surrounding the ‘fast version’ stems from the Via Brazil compilation from 2001 – the version featured was pitched up. Hence, a lot of people know it at that tempo, because it was otherwise impossible to obtain, until now.

Cosmo Vitelli hasn’t slept since 1973. Instead, he’s replaced slumber with the tireless exploration of electronic music, sharing his finds as an accomplished DJ and label manager as well as an esteemed producer, with heaps of records, remixes and edits under his belt. With his upcoming two-part LP on Malka Tuti, Cosmo brings forward his more diverse and somehow mature musical side, combining elements of post-punk, krautrock, electronica and pop on this first of 2 four-track records. The songs on the LP transcend style and genre. They manage to hold and playfully sustain an idea that echoes throughout them all - a musical “saying” as well as a personal life experience, and they reflect Cosmo’s prolific studio work of the past 2 years since he moved to Berlin. On the opening song A Brand New City he collaborates with longtime friend Julienne Dessagne (aka Fantastic Twins). Dessagne's vocals cut through the quirky and addictive percussion groove and synth sequence, leading to a a strong emotional melancholic melodic catharsis. On the following two songs Groupe Surdose & Die Alraune we find Cosmo collaborating with Sebastian Lee Philipp (of Die Wilde Jagd fame) to show his more post-rock/krautrock side. Groupe Surdose is an instant classic slow burning dance floor Krautrock tune while in Die Alruane we find poetic German lyrics sung by Lee-Philipp on top of organic grooves, guitars and an epic Saxophone line that together create a distinctive highlight for the record. The closing track Kuldip is the curve ball of them all, sealing the first part of his album with a Mediterranean mid tempo dance tune for the selectors and the middle-eastern inspired electro aficionados.

'Waves Take Hold', is a kaleidoscopic, life-affirming exercise in late 1980's style Italian Dream House, that's so warm and rush-inducing that it's likely to get the hairs on the back of your neck standing to attention. Full of ricocheting drum machine hits, sun-bright lead lines, elongated chords and rich bass, it sounds like it was tailor-made to soundtrack sunrise in Rimini... Bonnie & Klein 'Ocean Leap' taken from the Ocean Leap EP: There's a deeper and dreamier feel to the 'Ocean Leap' track, whose bubbly melodic motifs and synthesizer panpipe flourishes offer subtle nods towards 1980's Greek new age electronic composers such as Vangelis Katsoulis amd Dimitris Petsatakis. Bonnie & Klein's synthesizer-heavy melodiousness comes accompanied by dub disco strength bass and undulating, off-kilter drums, but retains the rush-inducing bliss associated with the pioneering work of their Greek predecessors. AA is given up to the 10 minute + track from Mirage: 'Endless Ocean' taken from their Reflections of the Sun EP. 'Endless Ocean' is a slowly building masterpiece. After a hushed, atmospheric opening, the track bubbles away on waves of hazy bongo beats, lapping water sounds and seductive chords before rushing skywards in a swarming swirl of trance-style synthesizer lead lines, echoing electronics and picturesque piano motifs.

There are few people across the globe, who will have not been touched by the work of Frankie Knuckles. Forever regarded as ‘The Godfather of House’ for his unrivalled contribution to the house music we know today; what started as an underground movement in Chicago has grown to international heights thanks to Frankie. His records earned him recognition on a global scale, allowing him to work with some of the globes biggest names including the likes of Diana Ross, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.
Five years ago, Frankie passed away in Chicago on 31st March 2014 leaving behind one of the greatest house music legacies spanning almost four decades. Now he is commemorated by long time writing and production partner Eric Kupper. Eric, himself a seasoned DJ producer and writer, has worked on over 116 Billboard #1 Dance Records and played a pivotal role in a many of Frankie’s productions. Having both worked together for many years they established themselves at ‘Director’s Cut’ from 2011 and set about producing original releases and remixes based on the classic ‘Def Mix’ sound while sharing equal credits for their creations.
Together they re-produced and re-purpose classic cuts for modern dancefloors, with reworks including tracks from Marshall Jefferson, Ashford & Simpson, Artful & Ridney and The Sunburst Band, alongside Frankie Knuckles originals. These releases have now been brought together by Eric to feature on special album called ‘The Directors Cut Collection’ on SoSure Music. It includes the Director’s Cut reworks of Frankie’s classic cuts such as ‘Your Love’ and ‘Take You There’ with Jamie Principle, alongside Frankie’s first #1 single - ‘The Whistle Song’ on which Eric shares writing credits.
Within a multitude of classic reworks, highlights include a previously unreleased version of Ashford & Simpson’s ‘Bourgie Bourgie’ and a huge Director’s Cut Retro Signature mix of Marshall Jefferson’s The House Music Anthem (Move Your Body) featuring Curtis McClain.
The Director’s Cut Collection is a fitting tribute to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Frankie’s passing whilst giving Eric a platform to tell his side of the creative story. This album is to be released in collaboration with The Frankie Knuckles Foundation who work to continuing Frankie’s legacy well into the future.

third reissue of fumio itabashi on mule. “rise and shine live at the aketa’s” is his 2nd release on 1977 which is recorded at legendary jazz club in tokyo. but this album was actually recorded before his first release “toh”, so this album is his first album in fact. “jumping board” on a side is japanese hard bop classic and itabashi’s cover version of “my funny valentine” is very sweet and elegant. main track(for us)” rise and shine” is one of his best work. it reminds us pharaoh sanders if he plays piano… limited initial press. don’t sleep!

Following the success of the their debut double 12" release, SHELVED RECORDINGS return with part one of a two part set. 2.2 will follow (the sleeve will ship with Part 1). Returning to a brief but very fruitful period in electronic music production, Shelved Recordings exists to look back to the golden age of the remix, with a clear view of the future it imagined. Artists who were steered towards maverick producers, with a view to changing the rules, to re-defining the terms of what modern music should and could be. Pioneering techniques, over-dubs and an exploratory period of pop production, resulted in many lost dub versions and mixes. Mixes, which invariably were left on the shelf, deemed too 'out there' by the bosses of the the hedonistic label managers who commissioned them. Carefully reconstructed and rebuilt lost classics from someone who was there the first time around !

Originally released back in 2010 as part of an Agoria mix compilation sampler Temperature's Rising has become a cult hit with vinyl copies now impossible to find for any price as the chance of a repress was held back by record company politics. Now, finally, it returns, remastered for 2016 and enjoying the clear cut and full side of vinyl it undoubtedly deserves. On the B-side is the Temperate Dub, recorded at the same time as the lead mix, but which has remained unreleased until now. It takes a deep classic even deeper dubbing out syllables of the vocal over a reverberated version of the now familiar half-time rhythm of the original mix. 12" blood red vinyl in a full colour sleeve designed by Danny Passarella.

Influenced by euro dance and trance classics, the two forged a 140 bpm shameless, melodic overload with dramatic builds and everything you would (not) expect from these two gentlemen. The flip sees Holland ride solo for 9 minutes and 9 seconds. An eyes closed trip through dubbed out chords, melancholic strings, and slamming percussion.... full steam ahead.

The release serves as a window into this unique moment evoking both the transgressive spirit of European industrial music and the raw militant power of early Underground Resistance. Across the eleven tracks the album affronts a message of sonic urgency and still stands as a landmark statement of the industrial techno sound.
Remastered in Berlin by Rashad Becker the release presents the full album as a double vinyl release for the first time. Deep Into The Cut is reissued by We Can Elude Control.
