Having previously used their dnuoS ytiviL offshoot to release material from their nearest and dearest (think Batu, Bruce, Hodge and Alex Coulton), Bristol's Livity Sound crew turns to unknown French producer Simo Cell. The two tracks showcased here are a rather fine introduction to this newcomer, with opener "Piste Jaune" offering a clandestine blend of stuttering electro bass, discordant analogue percussion hits and spooky electronics. The mystery man goes for the jugular on "Cellar Door", with pitched-down, bleep style melodies and liquid electronics riding an off-kilter, broken techno groove. Another fine Livity release.

It's very direct, danceable club music, anchored stylistically between Electro, Techno and Industrial/NewWave, strongly influenced by '80s acts Liaisons Dangereuses, CH BB, sporadically, DAF and the Consumed /Concept period of Richie Hawtin." is how Hanno Leichtmann describes his new project Gesetz Der Oktaven. "The name 'Gesetz Der Oktaven' was chosen because I wanted something very German sounding, as we say 'sperrig', something technical, scientific. All the track titles are very old skool or obsolete studio/audio terms. "I wanted a completely new set-up, so I got a large Soundtracs desk from the 80s with 16 channels and, crucially 6 Aux Sends for effects." He continues, "The large number of aux sends was essential for the project. I used a drum machine, a MiniMoog sequenced by a TB 303, a vintage Drum Synth and six 6 effect combinations for the delay / reverb tracks. All very old-skool and in real time with no plugins. It took months of trial and error but the result is a very beautiful high-quality vintage studio sound."

Not much is known about Manchester based producer Belly, his online profile merely states 'Live artist & vocalist from the UK'. What we do know is that he releases records on his own imprint 'Belly Dance UK' and that the 3rd instalment in this series (produced by LA's Seth Cobblepot) is yet again hard hitting and dark. Following on from the previous 2 records, featuring Timothy J Fairplay & Headman respectively, he has invited 2 more underground powerhouses, Brassica & Thinnen, to contribute their takes on his new EP simply entitled 'Water' The original track follows the same Dark breakBeat theme that runs through the first 2 records , powerful vocals floating over layers & layers & LAYERS of synth parts that bring something new to the mix with every single listen. Coup d'etatAis a collaborative project from Kane Ikin and Harvey Sutherland. Working from their respective fringes of electronic music and produced in moments of respite between extensive touring and recording commitments, the project offers a glimpse into the pair's mutual influences and inspirations; part Maurizio, part Moroder. Kane Ikin, a meticulous producer of abstract forms and polyrhythms, weaves percussive static and drone amongst Sutherland's considered syntheziser work - a leftfield turn from Harvey's brighter moments. Ikin also traverses new rhythmic territory and signals a departure from earlier ambient works. The inaugural release for new imprint CDT, the 12" was mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy and features full sleeve artwork from Traianos Pakioufakis.

The soundtrack to her Saturn return - a period of loss, transformation and empowerment, soaks us in during the very first bars of Spellbound (Surrender), opening a velvet drape to a hallucinogenic dramatic play of sensualities, sexualities, emotional and physical bondage. Could a film score in a parallel world when doppelgangers of Bela Tarr and John Carpenter team up with Bela Lugosi sound like this? How would these melodies work underlying the imagery of Tarkovsky's Solaris or Stalker? They not only evoke visions but sweetly poison our bodies on non-documented dance floors. It is here where the queer souls abandon their precarious conditions in society to turn into blooming night shades. The trip continues with the energy driven Haunted By Flashlights, an electronic body trance of exciting anxiety where lampposts passing by at high velocity turn into strobe: A real nightlife flip book of self forgotten corporal mannerisms

Completing a quick fire trio of new EPs, Constant Sound hits release number six with a pair of new tracks from VRSION that come with a dance floor friendly remix from Persuader. VRSION is a German producer who has already made a big impact with his release on Craig Richards' excellent The Nothing Special label. Following up that in fine style is the opener here, 'Torn', which is a hurried and urgent track that sits on the divide between house and techno. It is driven and slick, rubbery and hypnotic but has plenty of nuance and funk in its well programmed drums. Some occult sounds and wordless vocals embellished the whole thing and it really is the sort of track that blows dance floors apart and will stand out in any set. 'Capricorn Meet Leo' then toys with kinked drum patterns, rattling percussion and fathom deep bass that sucks you right into VRSION's world. It's a restless place where harmonies ride up and down the scale, cause claps come at you from odd angles and dark vocals add a sense of paranoia. Remixing this one is Persuader, who does so with a stripped back sense of restrain. he retains the original's weirdness, but layers in serene pads and tripped out atmospherics that really make it ripe for playing at 4am. This is the most adventurous release yet for Constant Sound, and is sure to prove one of its bets as a result.

Bypassing dub-techno as the starting point, this is music clearly consistent with earlier output. We are presented with 10 tracks that all evolve with around a melancholic melodic framework. Mosco fell asleep and awoke days later with Red Axes. This is their joint offering for the ESP
Institute. Dikembe Manutu, the fictional character who’s name gives title to our thumping A side,
establishes a lush theme based on meandering steel drums and reverberating toms while a slew
of rich percussion leads us through the jungle on a melodic galloping bassline. Once this deep
groove gets us rolling, we’re treated to a variety of twinklling melodies that float high above. On
side B, Rage In The Cage is a true live drum machine jam, full of bleeps, detuned toms, abrasive
cymbals, and plenty of left turns. We can only imagine the mood in the studio as these three old
friends frantically smacked buttons and tweaked knobs, creating happy accidents and loving
every menacing moment of chaos as they stirred this cauldron. These two songs will make you
thirst for exotic nectars.

where the negative space between the notes is equally as important as his lush instrumentation.
Damien’s build-up of warm analogue machines twinkle and stab, leading way to a memorable
hook, a squelching chord melody full of live nuance and energy. On side B, Safe House plays
out a similar theme in terms of arrangement, however, the ethereal space Damien creates with
the kalimba and driving arpeggios elevates us to an even higher plane, where his lead floats
gracefully across the stereo spectrum, blanketing the fast-paced rhythms with a calming sense

Finale Underground is back with Vol. 3 and this time the focus in on Chicago. Four tunes from Chicago luminaries that have made their marks in the scene, though all sounding different, still staying true to the Chicago ethos. Specter's deep house jam called "5th of Hen" with its lush sounds and steady melodies sets the tone. Chicago Skyway follows with a club banger titled "Digits LG" where the pulsating synth takes up the attention, giving an old school feel with contemporary string sounds. Hakim Murphy starts the B side with "Slowdown", an acid house tune that shows off some of Murphy's drum programming skills. Finally, Steven Tang finishes the session with an the tune of aggressive synth lines and a bouncy bass called "String Tension". Super secret Bergen/Stavanger/Oslo/Haugesund/Berlin based collab label GLUEUNTZ is back with another release, after the very successful Q&A 12" two years ago. On the A-side, it's The Glue of course. The Bear and the Bunny have stayed out of the studio and focused more on coming in the fjords and glaciers of western Norway the last few years, but recently they overcame all obstacles and got together in the studio to give birth to "Stomperud". The track, just like life itself, is a very long and mysterious journey. It starts out as your everyday guitar loop based disco house track, but then things get all weird and incomprehensible – akkurat som selve livet. On the B-side, you will find "Kommafeil", an edit by our dear friend Rulefinn. Rulefinn is arguably the biggest italo disco enthusiast in Norway, and his vast collection of rare italo records has made everyone who goes clubbing regularly in Oslo come on the dancefloor at least a couple of times during the last decade. Now he has finally started sharing a few of these gems with the general public through his spectacular edits, and this tight mid tempo italo slap bass banger is going to make you come for sure.

*due to major shipping damage, there is a delay on shipping this product* Detroit's I.T. dust off a whole ton of unreleased I.B.M. (recorded 1995 - 2005) .. essential. TIP! Jamal Moss (aka I.B.M. (Insane Black Man)) is a lost warrior of sonic truth. We first uncovered his music through his own Mathematics Records, where we were shocked to find a unique permutation of the Chicago Jack gene. We came to find out that Jamal was educated in the biz by Adonis and Steve Poindexter, and the last of the line of producers directly inspired by two pillars of influence: Ron Hardy at the Muzic Box and the club Medusa's. This makes him uniquely qualified to write a new chapter of Chicago's history. Digging through shoe boxes of cassettes, video tapes, and mini discs, we have collected the secret tapes of one Insane Black Man. This is an archive of the impetus of his genius, containing perhaps the holy grail of all Jamal Moss tunes "The Land of Rape and Honey" and "Tribal Retribution". Artists on labels like LIES are still searching for these originals. We have taken them from their dusty and damaged condition and painfully & meticulously restored them, using the mastering labs of Neel's Enisslab Studio in Rome, and for the few that even he couldn't do, we had Carl at TruTone finish the restoration. Now we can present these fragile raw and pure visions with the greatest level of quality. Finally the full impact of these ideas can be felt. Jamal describes his music as "post industrial angst in an urban environment." His first experience at the Muzic Box was standing outside the warehouse space on 326 Lower Michigan Ave just watching people come outside to catch air, fascinated by the energy he was experiencing. At a later location he was finally able to get in and describes the experience as "overstimulating, I never saw anything like that, you could see the heat, it was like a sauna of raw sweat." Later, he would spend much of his formative years at Medusa's experiencing the city's more alternative culture. Many people may find this surprising, going from the Muzic Box to Medusa's, from the roots of House Music (and Techno) to the home of the Industrial sound that perhaps Wax Trax best represents. But that kind of stereotypical thinking doesn't allow for the truth of what actually happens, people cross boundaries, experience other scenes and cultures, absorb them and add to them. No one should be prescribed a set of interests because of where they are from or what race they are born. Jamal reminds me that Duane Buford, creator of the first record on Dance Mania and co-writer with Jesse Saunders and sometimes Vince Lawrence of such early house songs as "Funk-U-Up" (Jes'say 1984) and Le' Noiz's horror house bad trip jam "I'm Scared" (Trax 1985), was also a member of the Revolting Cocks and Ministry. Before Mathematics took off, Jamal was in talks with 4AD to make an industrial record for the label. These towers of influence collide easily in the mind of the Insane Black Man. Why must we call him insane? That may be society's futile view, which would prefer to put everyone in easy boxes, whereas we would be more likely to call him a visionary.

Aside from being the originator and creator of the Osmose Sound 7" Vinyl Record Stabiliser, DJ Osmose is a purveyor of the finest house and disco concoctions, a man who has clearly dedicated his life to both house culture and the vinyl format - we dig. This time he's up on the newly crowned Morgan Avenue Edits, and first up is a collaboration with byDesign, a track entitled "Red Light Disco", and one that is a total discoid banger, backed by one hell of a baseline. "Hazardous Disco" sees the man go solo and deeper than before, serving up a beautiful, vocal-laden, string-heavy disco joint for the modern ear, followed by the smooth-as-silk groove of "I Don't Wanna Know". Dave Aju, Alland Byallo, Kenneth Scott and Marc Smith joined together as KAMM, resulting in a mini-album called Kick Drunk Love for marcel Vogel's Amsterdam based label Intimate Friends.iDescribed in a press release as being influenced by the artists' "love of early '90s MoWax era laid-back beats," it features Barrite on lead vocals (with Byallo and Scott also contributing vocals), Smith on guitar, Byallo on trumpet and Scott on Moog synth. There's a couple guest appearances as well: Damian Schwartz plays some bass on "Sidewalks" and Eureka provides "a hell of a [vacuum] rev" on "Stage Left."

Kaffe Crème, 21 years old, is finally releasing his debut vinyl EP on his own imprint Moonrise Hill Material founded in February 2015. This year, he took part of multiple projects in addition to the production of this EP such as a Jazz House live creation with piano, flute and percussions and the composition of an electro-symphonic artwork. Due to his classic, contemporary and jazz percussions practice and his love for old school and electronic music, his EP retraces all of his influences and recounts the progress in his musical research this year. The vinyl starts with Kapo Choc (efficient track against floor chips) as a preamble to Kaffe Crème's story in his apartment/studio/hideout from the "Poulaillerie", Lyon, reaching in his hip-hop and big-band influences. The listening continues with Chez Moune, tribute to the skinflint Parisian nightclub that refused to pay Kaffe Crème's first gig in Paris. With multiple influences: traditional indian music, hip-hop and jazz; we can hear Calvin. O Butts saying « we're not against rap, we're not against rapper, but we are against those thugs », the track denounces the non-professionalism of his owners . B-side starts with Jessica Penrose, young and shameless Penrose family's descendant (All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental), on a raw funk sample structurally built on a Penrosian equation. The vinyl ends with Mountain Flow, ode to the Moonrise Hill Material movement, pure Jazz-influenced Hip-Hop, expressing the daily nonchalance and nihilism of the label's protagonists.

Tominori Hosoya is the project of Japanese track-maker Tomi Chair and for the past years he's been on a steadfast journey in the land of soulful house. His most recent offering on MixxRecords entitled "Life Goes On EP" includes four tracks, three originals and one Brothers' Vibe remix. Starting off with "Over The Sadness", the first piece is a laid back groove with a solid bass backbone animated by classic house hi-hats. "Strategy Meeting" gets peppered with wobbly synths, giving the cut a seemly acid vibe against a steady percussive background. With "32-33 (One Decision)", Tominori delves into his tribal side; keeping the focus on exotic drum patterns. The dreamy synth melody provides a contrasting yet fitting backline. For his remix of "Strategy Meeting", Brothers' Vibe goes full force and turns the track into a peak time floor killer, with a hypnotic percussive line....a SOLID PROJECT for certain!!

During the last three years a new name has been making waves at Ostgut Ton and Berghain: Berlin born, raised and based producer Kobosil made his debut with a remix of Barker & Baumecker's "Silo" (Ostgut Ton, 2013), completely unknown at the time, he has quickly earned his stripes as a DJ on the club's main floor, eventually becoming a resident at Berghain. Following up on five subsequent 12" releases and Kobosil's first live sets, his debut album sees him covering yet new ground in the form of a full length release.We Grow, You Decline adds new aesthetics to the Berliner's production style by conveying a certain darkness and distance while keeping some easy and gentle touch. Underneath the delicate, crackling surface of songs such as "When I Speak" and the aforementioned "To See Land" there are distant voices to be heard, while they're more prominently featured in the throbbing, atmospheric "Eihwaz" and the robotic pulse of "You Answered With Love", the human element is kept restrained and unfathomable inside some tense moods. With "They Looked On" Kobosil unchains the listener during the over eight-minute-spanning, culminating last track and the hovering suspense that is prevalent throughout the album is dispersed into a warm, hazy horizon.

Our dance floor shattering collection returns once again as Trash The Wax # 3 lands & leaves a trail of raised hands along the way. The vinyl taster picks four of the best from the latest compilation and kicks things off with a collaboration between our very own boy wonder Chris Massey and Homoelectric's Will Tramp to deliver Red Room Disco. It's a full on sweat box banger with big wobbly bass, diva style vocals and drops that gives a tip of the hat to the aforementioned Manchester club night for twisted sleazy people. Former 2020 Soundsystem chap Julian Sanza turns in The French Mistake which sounds a bit more Italian than its Parisian name. With a solid low end stomp partnered by snappy percussion, hypnotic synth stabs & soaring strings, this is one to file under perfect mood setter. On the flip, Tromso's Kohib drops Talk To Me that sounds like the bastard lovechild from Optimo and Erol Alkan's (sadly missed) Trash night. With a Kraftwerk-esque vocal and raspy siren synth alongside a low slung murky bassline, it all adds up to the greatness! Spiral comes from Seen On TV and is all kinds of Italo brilliance. Arp bassline? Check. Stabby synths? Check. Weird wonky honky-tonk pianos? Check! This is definitely the kind of thing to drop in a set to catch them off guard and go down a wonkier route….Massive DJ Harvey vibes!

Gagarin Kombinaatti Is Mika Vainio's earliest band project in Turku from early 80s. GK was influenced by industrial groups like Throbbing Cristle, Einsturzende Neubauten and Test Department. Vainio compiled a GK album from the original cassette recordings in 2015.

Ruff Daft returns, and after a various artist EP for number 7, number 8 on the label goes back to the founder, with three new tracks from Cottam 'Washed Out' kicks things off, at the cross roads between Mood Hut & Basic Channel where dub techno sensibilities meet dreamy chords for a delectable deep house track. 'Horns' harks back to Cottam's earliest releases, with an afro-ish horn loop teased out over four minutes until the full loop and bass kick in to devastating effect. 'A Ruff Draft' sees Cottam look back towards his techno roots, with a killer kick drum and raw acid lending an abrasive edge to a well rounded EP of varied styles.

Appendix may refer to any text added to the end of a book or an article, containing information that is relevant to the main subject matter. Not that this is a way to say that this is the end of Shabu Recordings in any way, but rather a call back to Norwell's work while using its previous incarnation as a starting point to elaborate and expand the world created previously. Although, it focuses on different events and it stands on its own as its own entity. Appendix starts off where Norwell's previous release on Shabu, I Kissed The Sun, left off : a big morning stroll in a psychedelic forest with unseen, yet familiar, crea- tures inhabiting it. Willie Burns (The Trilogy Tapes/WT Records/ L.I.E.S. Records) complements this unusual walk in the woods by absorbing it into his warehouse banger signature. Burns' rework focuses on micro- events of the original to create a sort of granular House version out of them. The adventure continues on a somewhat melancholic turn with We Have Been Here Before and Sometimes as the B Side. While We Have Been Before is a more dancefloor-oriented take to Krautrock's signature synthline layering, Sometimes is Norwell's venture into a more Techno universe than he's mostly associated with to come out with a soothing, yet banging work. As digital bonuses, Norwell offers Glimpse : a short but catchy synth jam riddled with different layers of complexity. This piece is then taken into obscurity by Farbwechsel Records' boss S Olbricht for a ride into a 80s-cyberpunk club where people are trying to dance their problems away in a dystopian world.

An early Brothers' Vibe piece and massive underground anthem! Brothers' Vibe distinctive gritty style of groovy house takes us on a hypnotic journey into uncharted territory. Melody and percussion interchange amongst a framework of zippy synths and sinuous kicks. Released under the moniker Silent Rodgerz, the second track "Infractions" saw the light of day back in 2008 solely in digital format on a MixxRecords compilation. Low slung with an acid influence, the cut reveals a distinctly natural groove lead by the classic bassline. The final track is the definition of a house classic!! Featuring echoing words of the great Maya Angelou, "Words To a Nation" exudes a timeless quality, unveiling a masterpiece which stays firmly in your head...
