Staying true to their friends & family ethos, the next Colors EP - out on February - comes from a co-founder of the London party imprint, Guilhem Monin.
The musical journey is composed by three tracks. 'Omen' is a slinky house cut which eases the listener in with some seductive saxophone/Rhodes combinations, before a warm bassline takes over. As the track rolls along, Monin teases the listener with jazzy piano riffs and some very addictive bongo loops. 'All The Way Back' is more minimalistic, propped up by the hypnotic organ loop which forms the track's rhythmic backbone. Female vocal cuts are expertly dropped in and out of the mix against a subtle backdrop of strings. Chicago veteran Boo Williams rounds off the EP with his interpretation of 'Omen'. He slides up the tempo a few, taking it into peak-time, bumpy house territory. The vocal samples of the original track take on a forceful urgency when placed over slamming kicks and cascading synth volleys.

After the sampler gave Dissonant's vinyl lovers a taste of the new Re-UP album, this double-disc release showcases the rest of the tracks that make up this immersive, captivating body of work. It's a creative triumph for label and artist alike, following on from four years of mutual admiration since Re-UP first appeared on the label. The title track "Nelcorpo" leads in on Side C with its sweeping, mysterious pads swirling around crisp and angular fragments of rhythm, and "Dark tunnel" brings on a tougher beat to catch the dancers unaware while carefully feeding a haunting soul into the track.
"Each sense" celebrates mental and physical stimulation with its intricate and seriously funky percussion both surprising and delighting at once, before "Extended" sets out to explore precise, microscopic production detail even as it builds to a spiritual climax. "Gominola" comes to life on a rousing, romantic swell of orchestration, rich in energy and passion without losing that all-important subtlety in Re-UP's music, while "Tribute" delves into dub-infused techno of the most captivating kind. "Aju paraplu" strides forth with urgency, the quick-ticking beat providing a perfect anchor to the subliminal intricacies of the sound design around, and then finally "Concrethereal" emerges gracefully into a dense and complex arrangement of percussion and melodic chimes that soars away from the dancefloor and into more meditative realms. After years spent as a firm fixture in the Dissonant family, it seems only right that Italian duo Re-UP should present their debut album on the label that they call home. Across eleven tracks of immersive, psychoactive house and techno, Leo and Omar showcase what a diverse and engaging team they are both for the dancefloor and as a personal listening experience. "Concrethereal" opens the mix in an esoteric style with a complex arrangement of percussion and melodic chimes that soar away into meditative realms, before "Aju Paraplu" strides forth with urgency and subliminal sound design, letting haunting fragments of processing drift in between the beats while the title track "Nelcorpo" captivates with its mysterious pads swirling around angular fragments of rhythm. "Dark Tunnel" brings on a tougher beat with a haunting soul to catch the dancers unaware, before "Gominola" comes to life in a romantic swell of orchestration, rich in energy without losing that all-important subtlety. "6 AM" equally has a rich sound world to get lost in, using a bed of forest textures as a comfortable backdrop in contrast to the piercing impact of the lead synth. "The Mole" locks the listener in with a vivid picture of crooked, rusted textures conjured up using layers of rough and metallic found-sounds. "Two In A Row" meanwhile takes its time in building up the tension, working with a locomotive urgency and yet maintaining a voluptuous appeal to the rhythm section of the track. Heading into the later stages of the mix, "Each Sense" holds tightly on to the groove, celebrating multi-sensory stimulation with its intricate and seriously funky percussion. "Tribute" delves into dub-infused techno of the most captivating kind, and "Extended" sets out to explore microscopic production detail as it builds to a spiritual climax. With its ever-shifting moods and infectious energy, Nelcorpo is a stunning achievement for Re-UP, and a proud moment for Dissonant. Leo and Omar prove with their creation just how much space for creativity and experimentation the album format holds, and it leaves us with a stunning body of work to return to and lose ourselves in again and again.

But now it's a great pleasure for us to press it on vinyl. The B-side comes from label head Dapayk solo. In contrast to the more ambient sounds on
the A-side „Mr. Styles“ seems to push the boundaries of the label sound a little more towards the dancefloor. As usual this release comes as a 10inch vinyl in a limited edition and numbered by hand.

The most interesting, advanced electronic musicians create unique, hermetic soundworlds that seem to emanate from unknown realms. See/hear Aphex Twin, Autechre, Farmers Manual, Iannis Xenakis, and Bernard Parmegiani, among a handful of others. If Chloe Harris isn't quite in that echelon yet, she is quickly approaching it with Dose.(This album was originally issued on very ltd.-ed. cassette in 2012 and is now getting a vinyl release, mainly due to the urging of Italian techno magus Donato Dozzy.) A former globetrotting DJ, Harris has shelved that lifestyle and aesthetic for a more stable family life in the Seattle area and a more cerebral approach in the studio. With this collection of exploratory compositions, she decided to experiment with an array of synthesizers, mainly the Waldorf Q. Working on the eight tracks here in her home setup, Harris would "layer as much as I could or sometimes there was no layering at all. I tried to let the machines talk. I was trying to find my own voice. It was sad and melancholy because I stopped DJing and decided to try something new in my career." This change had financial and creative risks, but Harris has transitioned boldly into this more adventurous musical mode.

Get Physical's first delivery for 2015 is, yet again, an EP that strays a bit off the beaten track. For this last installment, GPM290, Junge Junge has called upon Australian native Kyle Pearce to set some velvety vocals to a toned-down, bittersweet delight of a track. The ‚Beautiful Girl' EP opens with its namesake creation, a thumb piano-laden tune decorated by some seriously smoky singing just waiting to transport you far away. It's followed by a handful of distinct reworkings, by Audiofly who take on a dub remix and spins the song on its head to give it a new psychedelic identity. Meanwhile, Blond:ish throws it into darker terrain only to have the ‚Beautiful Girl' lifted up by Junge Junge once again thanks to a slightly different version that turns it into danceable AM epic by way of some wisely-placed kicks and claps.

Heist kicks off the new year with the first ep of Dam Swindle since they put out their album "Boxed Out" back in march '14. The Punch Drunk EP is the result of a series of jam sessions in their studio, experimenting with their ever growing studio setup. Allright (we'll be) is an uptempo affair at its 128 BPM, with an irresistably sexy hook that just makes you wanna give free hugs for its full 7:10 minutes. Pursuit has that classic Detroit Swindle vibe with an almost acidy synth rolling on in the background, giving the track the core of it's energy. Heads Down is the deepest of the 3, where a particularly shuffling set of offbeat toms create the groove and a set of warm synths give you a simple dancefloor choice to go hands up, or heads down. The new year of Heist after "The Round Up Part 1" comes with a lovely new minimalistic design by Amsterdam based artist Baster.

House Of Black Lanterns is the latest musical project from Dylan Richards, the man behind the King Cannibal and Zilla monikers (on the Ninja Tine and Warp Records labels respectively). With an album and two singles out in 2013 on the highly respected Houndstooth label, Richards returns with a deadly EP for Hypercolour, backed with a very fine Mosca remix. In its Original Mix, 'The Smack' is a dense and atmospheric production, the slow pace and chugging bassline evoking shades of early Chicago house but with a thoroughly modern UK twist. Filled with tension and drama, 'The Smack' is a big sounding record that cuts through so many genre sounds from dub techno to dubstep but sounds entirely individual and unique. Mosca steps up to the remix, following on from the launch of his new label Not So Much, and remixes for Alland Byallo and Sweatshop Boys. Taking 'The Smack' up to an altogether skanking tempo, Mosca plummets the Basic Channel school of sound for the aptly titled 'Dread At The Controls' version. Spring reverb all over the joint as Mosca works the droning synths and fire & brimstone vibes over a watertight, dub heavy workout. 'Grey Leather Glass' takes things up a notch, continuing the HOBL theme of dark & shadowy techno sounds with heaps of drama and sinister twists and turns, like some cinematic score to a Wes Craven slasher epic, and '8 Million Stories' cuts up vocal chops, finger snaps and piano stabs over a brooding house production. Deliciously dark music from HOBL here….

Poker Flat capture Mark Henning in a rich vein of form for this EP of deadly deep and intense tech house. For almost a decade, the Anglo-German, Berlin-based DJ has turned out consistent releases on an array of underground labels, but here his trademark combination of darkness, swing and technoid funk reaches new levels. "Pusher" is a modern masterpiece: tough, crisp and fine-tuned for deployment on Stonehenge-sized speaker stacks, it's a tune that envelops you, the introduction of each individual element staggered for maximum effect. "Somebody let me get my sh*t," the repeated vocal declares: a request the tune responds to magnificently. The kinetic shuffle of "Swingers" follows a similar trajectory, overwhelming the listener with its relentless energy.
Through the simple yet spooky Hitchcockian device of a single repeated piano note "Triple 13" hypnotises, a trippy snatch of processed vocal providing a hallucinatory edge, while "Satin" explores dreamier territory with a reverberating New Age synth motif. All four tracks are masterclasses in restraint from a producer who can combine deceptively simple elements to make a resounding and inimitable emotional impact. Aptly named, this 12" is simply the only drug you'll need.

Imagined as a sharp contrast and complement to Funn City's trashy vintage vibes, Darshan Jesrani's new Cylinder moniker sets out to explore the more streamlined, forward-facing side of Startree's vision, while sacrificing none of the warmth or funk of its classic influences. "Disco Engine" is a futuristic joyride which draws upon late 80s and early 90s techno vibes as much as it does disco and R&B to produce a groove which is warmly insistent, buoyant, sexy and a little menacing. Ruthless, detuned 808 toms and a punchy, round analog bass synth provide a floor you can push the gas pedal to. A greasy, giddy synth rhythm holds the middle down like a session guitarist when rent is due, and ecstatic choral synth pads and vocals by Chelsea Adewunmi soar just above the horizon. Underground dance music with the top way down. Side B's "4-Stroke Dub" works a more DJ-oriented angle around that 808 and juxtaposes parts which do not play together in the original, creating a track which is subtly driving and every bit as engaging. The gorgeous, understated vocal refrain in the middle is a destination you will have been happy to go the extra distance to reach. Startree is happy to present its second release as a continuing statement of its musical intentions and its simple desire for all to have a really good time.

Sometimes it takes a little longer until things happen.
Talking the conjunctional studio joint of Martin Landsky and Marco Resmann entitled "Lava", now released under their collaborational project Landsky & Resmann, this single is one that has been overdue for quite a while and for a reason. A reason and shared history that essentially helped to shape and add momentum to Marco Resmann's career at an early stage a good 13 years ago when he wasn't even known under his real name but used the artistic alias Phage DJ- and production-wise. It was back in the early noughties when Marco Resmann sent out a demo to Martin Landsky and his former label Intim Recordings which he admired musically, got through and the tracks that were picked are now known in the history book of electronic music as "Volkspark E.P.", his first ever single release that became the output number 009 on Intim Recordings back in 2002 and, if you will, the foundation on which Marco's production career was built. Now, after all these years in which Martin Landsky became one of the mainstays in the Poker Flat Recordings-family after folding his own imprint whilst Marco Resmann built a huge reputation on the international DJ-circuit and co-founded Upon.You Records, they finally teamed up in the studio for "Lava", a single piece as timeless and essential as it can get. On the A-side we've got "Lava 1" , a quite pumping and deep technoid piece that is fully aware of the seductive grooves only stripped down House music can provide. With carefully crafted build-ups, melancholia-driven strings and moody modulations this one's a true force on the dancefloor, using only very essential elements and razor sharp hi-hats to get a whole nation under a groove. Sexy as hell. Flipping the wax we've got "Lava 2" sporting a dry, wild pitch and Chicago-related feel whilst providing a quite track'ish attitude in the use of ever twisting background noises, a simple but catchy repetetive low frequency motif and on point filter abuse that's in for the thrill before the second synth line is adding additional momentum in reflecting and transposing the main motif to a new frequency level. Finally the so-called "Lava Dub" explores deeper realms of beautiful dancefloor melancholia based upon a super solid foundation of lush bassdrums and rich, dreamy string-arrangements accompanied by dubbed out vocal snippets and classy, vastly-coloured synths shining through every now and then, making "Lava Dub" a perfect late night tune for House music lovers and more intimate dancefloors.
