KRAZY BALDHEAD, "Ed Banger's best kept treasure", introduces his second album The Noise in the Sky.
KRAZY BALDHEAD is one of the Ed Rec crew's accomplished musicians: he spent ten years at the Conservatory practicing electronic instruments, but also the piano, guitar, bass and percussion. This is an artist who didn't hesitate to go off to India to practice the tabla and infuse himself with their hypnotic rhythms for four months.
His musical influences are also very wide in spectrum: Joy Division and Gong, Bartok and Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix and Squarepusher.
With his first salary as an engineer KRAZY BALDHEAD bought his first machines and started exploring new sounds. While Fatboy Slim and Warp were doing their thing, he left the hi-tech world to concentrate only on the music.
In 2004 he sent a demo to Pedro Winter, then manager for Daft Punk, who had just created his label Ed Banger. The abstract and heavy beats of his 'Bill's Break' became the label's fourth release.
He also did a number of remixes for his friends dDamage, Aufgang, Plugs, Outlines and Pitchben. Humble and discreet, sometimes swimming against the fashionable currents, his 'musical family' is nevertheless very determined and atypical on the dynamic French electro scene.
His debut album The B-Suite was released in 2009, in an ambitious format : an 'electronic symphony' in four movements with electronic sounds built over a classical structure. The album was unanimously praised and confirmed Krazy as a special planet in the Ed Rec galaxy.
Depending on his mood, his music can be somber and melancholy or experimental, and with no warning slide into a warm almost poppy funk. His comps can be either built on a classical or jazz base, with funky synths and organic electro sounds, mostly with powerful bass lines inspired by British bass-music.
For his second album The Noise in the Sky, KRAZY BALDHEAD delved into his 70s influences: while on tour for The B-Suite, he traveled by day listening to 70s jazz and played by night in electro clubs and festivals.
While in Detroit to play at the DEMF festival, he visited the historic Motown studios in Hitsville USA and realized the duality of his musical position: influenced on one side by 70s sounds and being part of the Ed Banger label; in his studio, vintage Moogs and Rhodes share the space with an Ableton computer and its plug-ins: he questioned himself on this duality and endeavored to find a musical answer.
The result is absolutely contemporary, but also influenced by a branch of the 70s culture, building bridges between Herbie Hancock's Headhunters and Amon Tobin, between Weather Report and Skream.
On stage, KRAZY BALDHEAD plays live with machines, keyboards and pedals giving a different result every night. For his new tour, he has surrounded himself with videos created by Flashback, who also directed the video for 'Surabaya Girl', which followed a multicolored windmill through Paris.

Feadz and Kito met in 2008 at a music festival in Australia and bonded instantly over their passion for music and music production. The pair kept in contact over the years and met up a number of times when they found themselves in the same city. In 2011 Feadz invited Kito to visit him in Paris to work on some music. After a week in the studio an exciting new project was born; a project that celebrates their mutual love for techno music.

For a short period in 1981 and with brand-new equipment such as Roland 808, SH 101, GR 500, we made some 8-track "just for fun" jam tapes. Mainly just to experiment for our own pleasure. From those sessions, only "White Horse" made it to a final treatment. The rest of the material was left behind, as our record company at the time found it too "different". After "White Horse" being a track indeed defining our sound, we thought it would be interesting to dig out left-overs to fulfill a documentation of that period - crucial for us at the time. We were still innocent
newcomers, without actually knowing to be creating a new sound! Recently, that left-over material was transferred from analogue to digital and, to stay as true as possible to original intentions, we only added vocals, bass and drumbeats ahead of a final mix.
We hope that you will enjoy listening to it.

A year has passed since the last Lucy and Xhin release on CLR, and here they are again, the two sound futurists from Italy and Singapore. With this present EP, the acclaimed production duo, who have steadily confirmed their reputation as some of the most cutting edge newcomers in the world of electronic music, impressively prove that they are still on their dedicated sonic mission. The EP features two original tracks entitled LX4 and LX5, both perfect examples of their characteristic trademark style. Deep and atmospheric, slightly experimental but always danceable - intelligent, elegant Techno with musically sophisticated roots and a very tight sub-bass. Finally one could highlight the hypnotic and almost ceremonial quality of LX5, which slowly and subtly unfolds over a length of eleven minutes. Everything is a function of that that preceded it. We are the cuttings of our past and we are put back together only to cut, and be cut up again....and so the sequence will continue, for good and for bad, for better and for worse .... everything true is harmony .... everything true is a mistake .... we are but the harmony of our spheres .... surrounded by music ... echoing the past as we hurtle towards the future. Cut Mistake Music was conceived somewhere between the day dream induced soundscapes of My Bloody Valentine's loveless on the western seaboard of Ireland and the haze filled manic energy of New York City dance floors. Loosely associated with a collective of New York based musicians .... our aim is true and our message clear; we want to bring our landscapes to the ears of those who are willing to listen. This first release comes from the hearts & minds of the label founder 'cnnr' (Connor Whiriskey) and good friends 'no regular play' (Nicholas Debruyn & Greg Paulus). Future projects will come from our wider community of gift giving artists: producers, jingle writers, classically trained cellists and violists, theater sound designers and visual artists. A side: cnnr - candide A sonic tapestry inspired by and dedicated to Danielle Basquet-Long and the product of/outcome of a near fatal night ... an unknown assailant ... a bicycle ... a skull ... and mother earth ...... ...... in that order ...... hit & run to double skull fracture head trauma, internal bleeding, air embolism, and some tightrope moments ....... the otherworldly music of Celer (internal soundtrack) helped hold some ethereal/\ephemeral connection to this reality while alone in intensive care ..... post hospital bed finding out that Danielle, one half of the husband and wife duo Celer, had passed away suddenly at the age of 26 ..... this track is one of the first pieces composed post accident and is and can only be a homage to her and her art and the proof of the intangible strength of music
b side: no regular play - rain (all day), avenue Two tracks made at a time that defined their music development ... searching beneath the machines and software and influences that give a band a voice ..... here are the voices of exploration for all to hear. Nick and Greg are childhood friends from Minneapolis who relocated to New York to pursue their love for music. An interpretation of 'rain (all day)' premiered in September 12, 2011, as part of 'TimePiece', a large-scale work composed by Greg and his father Stephen Paulus and performed by the Minnesota Orchestra as part of the opening program of the Orchestra's 109th season. The piece received much acclaim will be commissioned for future performances in the USA. No Regular Play has been a staple of the Wolf + Lamb family since 2008, releasing numerous records on the label, including the "Owe Me" and "Doesn't Matter" EP's. In the past year they have also released records on No. 19 Music and Supplement Facts. They are currently working on their first full length album, and touring the world playing their live sets in premier venues from Sao Paolo to Tokyo. Greg Paulus has released his 12" solo works "What's Mine Is Yours" and "Nighttime" on Double Standard Records and Wolf + Lamb, respectively. He also has been a prime member of the Matthew Dear Live Band, and toured extensively with the group in the past year.

Like hardly any other ambassador of modern Rhein Main House music, Christian Burkhardt has experienced a true rocket-like takeoff in the last year. Burkhardt's Cocoon debut EP "Stopover Goa" has, after one year, still a place of honour in many DJ's record cases. Also his legendary live set in the pouring rain at last year's Green & Blue may belong to the lasting memories of a life dedicated to electronic music. The Heidelberg-born producer has already worked for La Peña, Raum…Musik and Oslo, and his collaborations with Einzelkind and Sascha Dive became a talking point, too. With his second EP for Cocoon, he again sets new standards. There's nobody around who is able to alienate vocals from the collective memory of Afro-American culture into a hallucinogenic cocktail without harmful side effects in such a way than Burkhardt is. Nevertheless, and despite the massive, forward-pushing bass drum and hand claps, he never loses the focus of his Soul. Since then, the band has released another renowned album, "Let This Be The Last Night we Care", an EP - and now they're ready with their 4th full-length album; "Ask Me This".
ALCOHOLIC FAITH MISSION left Copenhagen in 2009 and started their extensive touring schedule and they haven't really slowed down. In just 2 years the band has played approximately 150 shows outside Denmark, including some of the biggest and best Festivals in Europe and North America; SxSW, Canadian Music Week, Iceland Airwaves, CMJ, Roskilde Festival, Peace & Love, Positivus - to name a few.
"Ask Me This" is the natural next step in ALCOHOLIC FAITH MISSION's evolvement as a band; taking them in a new direction, but it's still very easy to hear this is an ALCOHOLIC FAITH MISSION record. Together with co-producer Tom McFall (R.E.M., Weezer, Stars) they experimented with new sounds, structures and melodies - and now they are very proud to present the result: the best album by ALCOHOLIC FAITH MISSION to date. Over ten years passed, and here we are with a 30th release on Warsaw's Recognition Records. The artist here is… Recognition, which is both new and old alias of label boss, Jacek Sienkiewicz.
After years of experimenting and pushing further the boundaries of modern dance music, from minimal to truly maximum complicity, Jacek decided to go back to the very roots of primal, raw club music without losing his trademark, multi-layered, highly sophisticated sound.
Three tracks featured here are brief compared to some previous outings, but no less elaborate - solid beats and truly ravishing melodies are carefully placed within dozens of layers of sounds. A1 (030) puts hands in the air almost immediately, carrying an array of crystalline sounds and truly uplifting, cosmic strings, underpinned by a massive groove. Back to the roots indeed - this is the true spirit of vintage Detroit techno, filtered through the years of experience and brought to the world in today's Warsaw. Without doubt it's gonna be one of the major dancefloor hits of the year, already championed by some top DJs. B side further explores the classic techno roots, updating them for here and now; while B1 (130) is a serious, stripped-down, modest affair, B2 (230) warms things up with lush synths and swirling bass.

Ly Sander & Michael J. Collins join forces to bring you Raoul06 via Raoul, a deep, soothing EP. 'No Response' is a laid back and haunting piece, featuring warm bass and soaring pads. Percussion is kept simple here, with the focus on the bass groove and introspective wording. Home listening and chill out sessions aren't complete without this air-y number. To bring it up a bit, the 'Deep Space Orchestra Remix' lays a beat and a groove under the track and takes us to galactic depths. A cool energy is spread throughout and saucy percussion takes the levels higher. This is a late night dance track that gives goose bumps. It will certainly help to reconnect senses in the early morning. 'Russian Roulette' displays nice use of delay and relaxed percussion. This hasn't got the 'boom' of Techno, but it does have the space-y synths and ambience to bring you up to your feet. When everything is in place, it feels right; an afterparty delight.

"Six Feet Above" - nostalgic chord gives way to a dry, steady rhythm, followed by hypnotic bassline and evil, hoovering synth riff. Tiny crystal sounds sparkle here and there and you wish if only this track's 10 minutes could last few times longer. Meanwhile, "perpetual motion" is a notorious party tool: constantly accelerating beat, electric storm of mechanical noises, warm bass and the bell-like pattern which will ring in your head for weeks. Perfectly constructed, multilayered, atmospheric techno sounding pretty much like nothing else.

Second release on Recognition for the man of the moment Etiop: a while ago this 26 year old producer from the Polish city of Plock was hustling around his hometown, occasionally providing beats for local hip hop acts. Last year his "Sub+" EP gained rave reviews, being also played by world's top DJs. Now he goes even further in providing top quality modern electronic dance music. His sound lies where past meets the future: jacking tech-house beats, machine funk and dreamy soundscapes meet carefully programmed beats, digital noises and catchy, albeit somehow disturbing, vocal snippets. There's also a good handful of old school acid thrown in for good measure - and as the result we have 4 superb tracks, the ones you are always paying attention for while hearing them in the club...

Clocking in around 8 minutes each, these tracks take formulaic sounds of todays dance electronica a bit further: with layers of unidentified noises, sudden notes halfway between analog and digital, buzzing synths, half-organic hisses and constantly shuffling beats are too original to be unnoticed. Add to this elegant, soothing melodies, played by mysterious instruments (might be classical guitar, or piano, or both, or neither) and you'll get two pieces of precise, thoughtful, contemporary music that is equally bound to move you in the club and comfort at home.

This time we get two versions of untitled track: indeed, no title is appropriate for this fusion of classic soulfulness and cutting-edge digital wizardry. Jacek takes dramatic, string-driven build-up of Carl Craig, mixes it with crispiness and tropical funkiness of Ricardo Villalobos, and takes them all even further into the future in a storm of percussion, bubbling basses and classic strings. Jacek Sienkiewicz presents another unbelievably complex experiments in beat programming and string arrangement. This time, Poland's top techno producer known for his storming live sets goes over the edge, stretching minimal techno formula far beyond its limits and comes up with two epic tracks of enormous proportions. "The One" starts immediately with a stainless steel kick, but what seems to be a digital techno groove soon develops into a cosmic fairytale, with layers after layers of strings, bells and unidentified, but strangely organic sounds, executed with breathtaking complexity and almost obsessive attention toevery tiny detail. Sounds and emotions embraced within its almost 10 minutes are enough to fill a couple of albums...

"Don't Stop" is yet another step further - and a nod from Recognition, Poland's premiere modern techno imprint, towards dirtier, funkier and a bit unpredictable side of
contemporary club music. Proper oldschool warehouse vibe meets modern digital manipulations, raw hip hop feel clashes with unstoppable tech-house mayhem courtesy of one of the most underrated producers of today. Enigmatic Etiop is one shadowy figure. Quiet and modest, he's been around for at least last ten years, running his DIY label Palma records, producing local gangsta hip hop acts and always struggling with a harsh reality in his industrial hometown of Plock. There are some dark stories
surrounding him that probably will never be confirmed... but his passion for music and ability to hear far beyond ordinary cannot be denied. Etiop is a synthetist.

First seconds into already 27th release on Recognition, and we
immediately know that there is serious business going on here.
Stunningly complex drum track goes like clockwork, only setting the
scene for what is to come. Forget the craft of drum programming - we
are talking another dimension here. "Modern Dance" is like being
suddenly dropped into suspended animation: having that peculiar
feeling that the world around is accelerating to the verge of a seizure -
and at the same time this very world feels so slow... Unnamable,
transparent sheets of sound almost give no room to breathe - but
one's breath is taken away by the magnificent landscape it's about to
appear. Shapes shift under half-closed eyelids, and while the low,
peaceful yet sad chant comes in, one can feel it like an omnipresent
breath, burning hot and marble cold at the same time. This mysterious
and heart-wrenching voice comes courtesy of one Yula, and we're
gonna surealy hear much more from her in the future. And it seems
that the beats literally start to boil... rhythms shuffle and swing, and taken
the lack of floating melodies abundant in Jacek's earlier output this
track is even more outstanding from the producer's former work -
probably acting as a bridge towards new visions, appearing in the
confidence of the new, almost-perfect studio.
Nevertheless, with "Modern Dance" Jacek is practically destroying
competition, delivering almost twelve minutes of contemporary club
sophistication so much different from formulated bleeps of today.
There are no jokes here, no winking, no smile - and no prisoners
taken.

For already 28th release on his Recognition label, Jacek Sienkiewicz comes with probably his most varied and adventurous work to date, yet again proving his status as
one of the most forward-thinking European producers. Opening with a dreamy intro, A1 soon turns into a tight, hypnotic, Detroit-inspired workout. Layers of lush synths flow and weave hypnotically, while the complex, muscular beats pave their way towards the dancefloor. Jacek's usual complexity aside, this track also sports a bass riff of massive proportions, simply designed to become a classic. A2 is a surprising nod towards classic electro rhythms. Elastic broken beat serves as a firm base to swirling melody and a mutated voice commanding us to dance - all in all it's a slightly cheeky tribute to the classics of robotic funk. This track also marks a worldwide debut of Warsawbased DJ Mo, Jacek's longtime friend and Recognition's main DJ…

After reaching the milestone of 50 vinyl 12"s in February of last year Will Saul decided it was a good moment to put the label into retirement. Whilst focusing on his other label of love Aus Music and writing an artist album he had no intention of starting the label again. Through his good friend Appleblim Will was introduced to Julian 'October' Smith and they began working on music together in the summer of last year. Jules played Will 'String Theory' and 'Tension Point' and he was blown away…he felt he had to re-start the label to showcase such beautiful and original house music. The package comes complete with two first-rate remixes from the Dutch producer Legowelt (aka Danny Wolfers) and one of his many aliases, Polarius. Since his first label, Caravan Records back in 2007, October has been steadily rising in profile and creativity. In that short time his brand of off-kilter house and techno has also appeared on Perspectiv, Misericord, Jack Off and Immerse, and been championed by the likes of Ewan Pearson and Appleblim. He will be the first artist other than Skudge to release original material on their label and has 2 EP's forthcoming for them alongside an EP for Applepips. He also recently started a new label 'TANSTAAFL', which has been widely praised by the music press, and sets the course for more of the jacking dancefloor house and techno he is known for. Legowelt began producing in the early 90s after he came into contact with the sounds of Detroit's Underground Resistance, Model 500, Blake Baxter and Chicago heroes such as Farley Jackmaster Funk, Armando Gallop and Mr. Fingers. He has released a dozen or so projects on various formats, many of them on vinyl via Bunker records, a label based in The
Hague and of course Cocoon and Clone. Aside from producing, Legowelt has been playing live all over the world for the last 10 years.

The SUOL Mix compilation "Suol Mates" is born and Fritz Kalkbrenner starts this series in 2012 with the first edition. This 12" Includes the two exclusive tracks featured on the mix ... On A1 we find "Ruby Lee" by Fritz Kalkbrenner. A cover version of the all time classic from Bill Withers. Inspired by the original version Fritz replayed the rhodes, strings, bassline and of course re-recorded the vocals. Fritz managed to give the old soul vibe of the '74 version a modern feel, turning it into something for the floor as well as home listening. On B1 we have SUOL head honchos Chopstick & Johnjon with an edit of the Henrik Schwarz Remix for "Right In The Dark". Fritz wanted Henriks remix on the compilation since day one, but it never really fit ... so he asked Chopstick & Johnjon to sit down with the stems and do an exclusive edit. Satisfying not only Fritz but also enthusing Henrik this one made it into a lot of crates around the world already.
