I was finishing up a long extended set in Paris when the CleckCleckBoom crew practically ran into the club to get on the decks. I had hung out with them before but tonight they had all new tracks and an incredible energy. So I stayed past the last ravers just to hear what they would play and that was when i heard "Hugz" by French Fries and Bamabounou. This was a new sound, some nasty nasty shit sitting somewhere between juke and bass music and and i knew we had to get this sound on dirtybird no matter what. Needles to say "Yo Vogue" is hot property and i'm really excited to release it on dirtybird. The half time drop, the chopped and screwed vocal, the stuttering bass kicks, the creepy moog on top - it's simple and complex at the same time and it wrecks shop whenever it gets played. I did a remix on the B side giving it some db flavor and dirtybird newcomer Leroy Peppers lays out his own bay area skeeze with hot sauce on top. Watch yer bass bins! best, VonStroke.

Remixing tracks is not an easy task and only solid cosmic craftsmanship would do the job. The ClekClekBoom orbital station has luckily found two special extra crew members for this tricky and delicate operation. Planet A sector is covered by an already legend among electronic music producers, the man Fred P from NYC. His reshape of 'Change the Past' takes us to a nebulous journey filled with a multitude of sonic details and surrounded by some dreamy astral pads. Less dark than the original version, this slow jam keep an infectious rhythm steady all along and would be perfect for a rooftop session when the sun hit the sky. French Fries delivers two originals on the cutting edge of modern bass. "Space Alarm" is right up in your face but artfully holds back right when you think it will go over the top. The inside "Smoke Wine" is more in the vein of last years smash "Yo Vogue," yet more understated and deep which is rare for the genre. When I play these at the right time they always solicit an audible "ooooh" from the crowd at thedrops. Remix #1 is by Justin Martin who really blows it up dirtybird style with almost a breakbeat old school electro beat. Remix #2 is by dirtybird newcomers GoldFFinch via Belgium who also deliver a really funk laden club version. Both remixes are ace and the full release brings a very fresh sound to the label.

Regarding the EP, Audiojack said, “We made these tracks as the pandemic restrictions were lifting and there was light at the end of the tunnel. We imagined how good it would feel to play loud music again to people who were full of joy and relief at being free again, and we tried to encapsulate that feeling in the music.” Following the release of their second album, 'Surface Tension', Audiojack are entering what might be called the major phase of their career. San Diego born and raised DJ/Producer, Dillon Marinez, today releases his latest EP ‘Wormhole’, out now on Dirtybird. Curated by Claude VonStroke, the compelling two-track project presents a dynamic soundscape showcasing the sonic duality of one of Dirtybird’s newest rising stars. The chaotic, high-energy sound of its titular track ‘Wormhole’ is instantly mesmerizing, while its companion ‘Facelift’ is a deep, rolling burner. Regarding the EP, Dillon Marinez said, “My first [Dirtybird] Campout inspired both tracks. Claude’s set especially was full of some thick stabby bass which was right up my alley. This sound gave me an idea for each lead and the rest flowed naturally.” Continuing to grow as a consistent member of the Dirtybird flock, Marinez’s latest EP, ‘Wormhole’ marks his fifth release on the esteemed label following last year’s ‘No Pressure’ EP and earlier singles like ‘Dance For Me.’ Taking inspiration from funk, hip hop, and reggae, Marinez credits his father and brother for exposing him as a kid to the multi-genre sounds that shape his music style today. A bassist since childhood, it was only natural for Dillon to be drawn to the ebbs and flows of house music. Learning Ableton in college, Marinez was able to incorporate a blend of rhythmic elements to create his unique bass lines and incredibly catchy beats known to captivate crowds. But a scrappy, left of center, Bay Area house music label, Dirtybird, has managed to do just that. Claude VonStroke, Dirtybird’s founder, is marking this 15-year milestone the only way he knows how… working. This year, VonStroke will throw two dozen-plus parties, three festivals (including the famous Dirtybird Campout), host his traveling Dirtybird BBQ series in major cities across the US, publish a coffee table book, release a seasonal clothing line, stage art shows, produce a fly on the wall docu series...and kick it all off by releasing a new album, out February 21st. What began as a free party, turned basement record label, has morphed into a truly thriving community whose familial, fun and welcoming vibe has won over hearts and minds across the world. And while Dirtybird has grown and evolved, VonStroke’s core focus on music remains unwavering. The new album ‘Freaks & Beaks’ is a celebration of quirky innovation and a relentless pursuit of something new and fresh, while hearkening back to the freewheeling spirit that inspired the launch of his label.
