Detroit’s Pontchartrain takes the Razor-N-Tape reigns for his debut on the label - an all-cylinders-firing jazz laden, deep house EP with an exquisite Demuja remix.
The A side kicks off with ‘The Friends & Lovers Dub’ version of the title track ‘Love Is Madness’, filled with deep pulsing pads, resonating dashes of sax, crisp percussion and a bumping bassline that provides the perfect backdrop to the echoing mantra of ‘Friends... Lovers’.
Next ‘I-80’ is a wonder of shimmering arps, brooding bass tones and reverberating trumpet touches. Perfect for the early hours, entrancing dancers as it washes over the airwaves.
On the flip, Austria’s golden boy Demuja hits hard with a Kerri Chandler channeling deep house remix of ‘Love Is Madness’, centred around a pumping bass synth, sustained organs and a classic marriage of horn stabs and emotive spoken word.

Releasing an album is a daunting task, especially in dance music. You got to keep it fresh and exciting from the very beginning until the last track, not sticking to one tempo, make tracks that work both at home and in the club and ultimately tell a story with your music. Alexander Lay-Far knows a thing or two about this, having his debut album 'So Many Ways' out back in 2013. The thing with Lay-Far and a big reason why we've always had a soft spot for him is his way of incorporating a certain magic in the tracks that leaves you on an uplifting and optimistic note. Therefore we're really excited to release his second album, How I Communicate, on Local Talk. How I Communicate is a two part vinyl release which we hope will come as a fresh breeze in these days where so much dance music simply lacks the actual musical aspect or the organic approach. Like most producers and DJs that are influenced by soul, disco, jazz and the blacker side of electronic dance music its all about the actual 'tune'. Listening (or dancing) through this album we hope you'll find your special tune (or tunes!) that hopefully will bring joy to your ears. To his aid Lay-Far has invited an impressive cast of collaborators such as Ashley Beedle & Darren Morris, Restless Soul, Sean McCabe & Mark De Clive-Lowe to give the tracks that little extra something under the watchful eye of Lay-Far himself. Last year City Fly unearthed a raw diamond in the form of Russia's Alexander Lay-Far AKA Lay-Far with his 'Perfect World' track being the choice cut on City Fly's 'Visions Volume 2' EP - its dream-like harmony, yearning female tones and warm bass culminating in a transcendent production. Since his contribution to City Fly the Moscow native and 'In-Beat-Ween Sessions' host has already built an impressive discography with releases on Dutch tastemakers 4lux, Moscow's Shanti records and JD records with Detroit marvel Terrence Parker remixing him - not to mention further releases out on distinguished house labels including Amp Art, Visky Recordings, Fifty Fathoms Deep and a forthcoming 12inch with Jonny Miller on the Atjazz Record Company imprint. However, it was the release of his acclaimed debut album 'So Many Ways' on Chicago imprint Glenview Records Inc that saw him receive some deserved exposure and gain a wider audience - putting him firmly on the house map. Though the album has its roots in house, its melting pot of influences and genres with lashings of funk, soul and R&B elevated it above the usual house fare and found its way into the record bags of revered tastemakers such as Osunlade, Mad Mats and Inkswel. Having monitored his progress closely since there last collaboration it was only a matter of time before City Fly brought Lay-Far back into the fold. Having planted the seeds to grow an alliance that has come to fruition with him flying over for an exclusive DJ set and now launching his debut 'It's On' EP for the label, this Kindred Spirit is definitely one to watch..
WITHOUT
Kicking off with lashings of funk and warm jazzy keys, 'Without' initially has a sunnier disposition then the title implies. However, a dusty male soul vox and moody organ then interject - taking things deeper and juxtaposing against the funk-fuelled spirit of the track ultimately adding more layers and depth giving it a more beatdown feel. A typical soul-infused Lay-Far production with it's an organic and timeless aesthetic, this is definitely one to soak up and kick back to in the summer sun..
SUMMER IS ON (DEDICATED TO GEORGE)
As the title suggests 'Summer Is On (Dedicated to George)' has summer written all over it. Beginning with warm bass, jazz licks and an infectious rhythm that slowly builds until the track takes a sudden tempo change with orchestral sweeps. There's no time to acclimatise though as the track metamorphoses again with the rolling drum and handclaps bringing the track back to the dancefloor with the introduction of a guiro adding some latin flair. A pure summer joint that'll be perfect for the roof terrace..
PENSAMENTO NOVO
The summer theme is in full flow as next up is 'Pensamento Novo' which as the Portuguese title suggests is a strictly Brazilian affair. With a heavy drum and funky guitar licks kicking off proceedings, the track takes a shift into Bossa Nova territory with its fusion of spoken word and raw percussive elements giving it an authentic Brazilian flavour culminating in a crescendo awash with sax and blissful keys.
PENSAMENTO NOVO (S3A'S WURM REMIX)
Having previously featured house heavyweights on remix duties including Andres, Fred P and DJ Nature, City Fly like to balance this with their quest in discovering and nurturing hidden house talent. Step forward S3A straight outta France who has been on City Fly's radar for quite some time now and are proud to present him for this release. The unusual 'S3A' name is an acronym for 'Sampling As An Art', and as well as holding down a spot at club du jour Concrete his productions have featured on revered house labels such as Local Talk and Slow House Records not to mention the creme de la creme of French labels such as Phonogramme, Lazare Hoche Records and City Fly's partner in crime Pablo Valentino's Faces imprint. On to the remix and S3A's interpretation is a more house-orientated affair and as ever joins the dots between the classic sounds of house with an ear open to the future - the perfect contrast to the EP's more relaxed, summery tone.

Cody 'Coflo' Ferreira is hyped right now, and for all the right reasons. Spinning all over the world and producing killer tunes on all the right labels (including Local Talk).
But we think he is at his very best when he goes in the studio with US vocalist Lee Wilson. Even though they delivered some great tunes in the past, we can honestly say that this is the best one by far...yet.
The track 'We Can Make It' comes in two versions, one "soulful mix" for all the garage heads, and on the flip, there's a darker and more electronic mix (but still loaded with soul).

Tesfa Williams' La Clique EP is a masterclass in house music's evolution - a sprawling, intricate journey that seamlessly connects the genre's past, present, and future.
Drawing from a well of deep musical knowledge, the Londoner continues to push things forward, offering a stunning five-track release that moves effortlessly through Deep, Afro, Bassline, UK Funky, and everything in between. M-Scape is a solo project by Japanese DJ/producer/remixer Makoto Nakatani.

Urban Reconstruction is a release that blends House, Techno and Broken-Beat in a very skilful way.

The title track is, dare we say, a Los Hermanos sounding track that holds both the energy and harmonies Gerald Mitchell would produce.
'I Do' is house on a broken beat tip while 'Freedom' got more of the M-Scape sound fusing House, Jazz and Techno.

Ending the EP is 'Let The Drums Play' which is not far from what electronic-Jazz pioneer Mark de Clive-Lowe does and a great way to end an EP that makes a stellar debut on Local Talk.

When it comes to breathing new life into classic cuts Joseph Caserta is as good as it gets, proven many times on his imprint BridgeBoots.

Making punchy and jackin' house, sounding like it's been dipped in some secret sauce is another trick of his.

The first track on his Local Talk debut, Hip Hop, comes in two flavours with the special sauce added on top.
Both the Rap Mix and the Haus Dub got swinging drums and a meaty, stabby chord that keeps the energy tight.

Hot on the heels of their releases on Nu Groove and Refuge Recordings Acid Jerks are back once again with another EP of jackin' traxx.

It's their first for Local Talk and we are, of course both proud and honoured to release "Hifi Shades Of Grey" on limited 12" vinyl.
The Acid Jerks sound is tried and tested to perfection by now and their fans won't be disappointed listening to this EP for sure.

First up is 'Shades Of Grey', a proper builder with its haunting strings, setting the tone perfectly.

French producer Timothee Milton debuts on Local Talk with an EP that fumes of soulfulness in every direction.
Written by Angela Johnson, the original is a big vocal deep house jam that got some hints of the 90s Jersey sound..but not too retro ;).

To give the package an extra edge we enlisted deep house connoisseur Hugo LX and boogie-house maestro Art Of Tones for the remixes, and our boys really delivered the goods.
Hugo's mix is a classy as it gets, supa bumpy deep house where everything little production detail is delivered with good taste.
The Art Of Tones remix is equally strong but goes for a more uplifting approach and puts the funk, boogie and soul front & centre.

Now, this release is really special. Warsaw's finest producer, envee (yes spelled in lower case) has been around the block since the early 2000s and is arguably Poland's #1 producer of underground dance music...with soul.
With a sound that often leans towards the UK underground, we thought that we should enlist one of envee's (and our) fave producers to remix his new Local Talk release; Manchester’s finest Zed Bias.

We asked Zed to give us that deep, soulful 2-Step rub but with a slight jazz edge and boy did he deliver.
Not only did he remix one of the tracks, he got so inspired and remixed both tracks...don!
It's proper UK deep UK 2-step / garage that will work in any (!) decent club. Yup it's that good.

We of course need to mention the original mixes from envee himself.
Sum Luv is a warm and melodic hip hop / soul jam with a slight Dilla(ish) backbeat. A proper tune!
Styrax sounds like a killer jazz-funk banger straight out the Bugz In The Attic playbook with jazzy Rhodes, breakbeats, big strings, and a bad bassline. West London meets Wars aw...bam!!

Local Talk are proud to present a live recording with Soulphiction & Netzer from 2018, recorded live just a month before the official release of 'Bizzness' the first of several releases Soulphiction and Local Talk released together.

Bizzness is by many considered a classic and had all the trade marks of a Soulphiction tune with its dusty soul and funk-infused house ingredients.
This live version really shows the vision and forward thinking of Michel Baumann using his Soulphiction moniker.

Also included on this release is a - as far as we know it - unreleased track called Dileila Emergency Dub.
A track built around a heady deep house theme that captures the sweaty, back-in-the-day feel we all love to hear in a track.

Coflo & Lee Wilson returns to Local Talk with a follow up to their single 'Fool For You'. Their new release 'Rainbows' is showcasing a duo that yet again brings some superb soulful house music that can not fail to ignite a floor.

Coflo's warming, musically expansive house sound frequently offers nods to several genres but he manages to tie them all together brilliantly. Combined with Lee's vocals the duo is a force to be reckoned with.

The Backside Mix is a thrusting, bass-heavy bump channeling Yoruba's grandmaster Osunalde mixed with something Henrik Schwarz would produce in his prime.
It's definitely made for the late after-hours in a club when there's sweat on the walls.

It's followed on the flip by the original mix which is an organic-sounding version without losing sight of the style and sophistication that are the hallmarks of Coflo's production.

Yet another unique, masterful track, all crisp and mixed with muscular Motor City futurism

From the collective brain of Craig Smith & Saleem Andrew McGroarty comes a new 'live' outfit called Sound Signals.

Together with keyboardist Stevie Christie, bass-man Cameron Bradley and percussionist Paulo Riddle they served up a deep, warm and jazzy basement house workout...
With vintage keys (courtesy of Stevie) and a stellar production this is equally a Jazz-Funk tune as much as a house jam...just take your pick!

In order to increase the musical value we got something special on side B.
Here Craig teams up with his Scottish soul brother Ricky Reid for a remix under their Soul Renegades moniker with a big-stringed late night house fanfare.
It kinda reminds us of those tasteful and melodic deep house productions coming out of Italy in the mid/late 90's...think Don Carlos :)

It's been a while since Local Talk presented a 12" with two artists doing one side each but it's time again.

Italian powerhouse Nico Lahs glides smoothly between labels like Delusions Of Grandeur, Adeen and Rawax, working with house royalty Chez Damier and keeps delivering top quality music.
His contribution to this split 12" is the track 'Everything Is Good', one of those moments when everything (!) works just perfectly.
A straight forward track that embraces loops and repetition with hints of HNNY's golden days.

On the flip Local Talk's very own Tooli moves through a series of moods and grooves with the 'That Cowbell Track', a cut which eases you deeper and deeper into the dance, with clever rhythmic programming.
A dub that focuses on the cowbell is also added for your pleasure, because you can't have enough cowbell, can you ?
