La Vie En Rose commences its 2016 campaign with a tight little package from the delirious Ibiza dwelling duo, Acid Mondays. The British lads are well known for their ability to concoct deadly dance floor weaponary for labels such as Rumors, Illusion, One Records and 2020Vision among others and now they’re back on the French label with two hot new tracks plus a remix from Greek grafter John Dimas. Lead track ‘Garaldo’ is a heady stepper with warped, galactic vocal snippets, glowing FX and a killer bassline. Coming in at just over 10 minutes, it’s a trip into the deepest recesses of Acid Mondays cosmic craniums. Lola ED family member John Dimas weighs in with his reinterpretation of ‘Garaldo’, putting the original on a diet and cultivating a slimline, though equally effective version of the track. His delicate use of twinkling melodies, barely there vocals and skippy percussion gives us a whole new piece of music, which is wonderfully restrained. On the flip, ‘Machette’ lives up to its name, with the percussion slicing and dicing its way through a gnarly bassline and bubbling toms. As the track progresses, the pace picks up and we’re gripped by its superglue-esque groove. A trippy breakdown around the five-minute mark is the icing on the cake. SupeR

R&S welcomes Acid Mondays for a 12" of lysergic house music that reaches far into the outer cosmos. Formed "somewhere in the 5th dimension” Acid Mondays is the cosmic coalition of fellow psychonauts Negghead (Dan Ward) and Lex Wolf (Alex Wolfenden). Repeated transformative visits to Ibiza culminated in landing regular slots at Circoloco where they have been testing this tune in the dance all Summer long. ‘Universal Rhythm’, their latest interstellar dispatch and debut on R&S is their finest work to date. An anthemic paean to the cosmos that features an impassioned spoken word missive from shamanistic MC Shovell, impressively recorded in a single take, making the case for the universality of experience and oneness of all beings. Latin rhythms fuse with a driving Fender Rhodes lick (provided by JD73) and percolating cow bells to hypnotic effect. This calls to mind a combination of classic Carl Craig and Villalobos at his most playful. R&S new signing The Maghreban supplies a killer dubbed out take on the original that strips away the heavy kicks and pumps up the percussion, hurtling the synth pads to the fore that comes on like John Carpenter peaking on MDMA.

The duo Acid Mondays have brought their quirky forms of house and techno to a wealth of respected labels over the years - Warp, Circus and 2020 Vision to name but a few. Now, Negghead and Lex Wolf can add Guy Gerber’s forward-thinking RUMORS to that list, with their humorously-titled ‘Tacos Per Minute’ EP which looks set to add to the imprint’s hard-earned reputation as a breeding ground for innovative techno. The eponymous lead track features skittering metallic echoes, a pulsing sub-bass, distorted vocals and futuristic synth chords for an atmospheric opener. The first of the B-sides, ‘Mezcalid’ takes things darker and deeper. Rattling, mechanical percussion combines with a satisfyingly heavy, rhythmic bass-line before joining skipping riders for an irresistible groove. That characteristic sub-bass makes a reappearance in ‘Techno Wellies’, a track whose driving drums and up-tempo claps set the scene for a multitude of echoing effects and shimmying percussion eventually developing into a samba-esque piece of techno. The ‘Tacos Per Minute’ EP is a danceable yet quirky techno release, whose attention to percussive detail and slightly dusty feel mark it out as a characteristic Acid Mondays production, sitting comfortably amongst the high-calibre catalogue of RUMORS releases.

Negghead and Lex Wolf form Acid Mondays and together the two have released music with 20:20 Vision, Circus, Deep Vibes and Illusion Recordings. Illusion give Acid Mondays the full treatment after the duo's Salvia Sessions 12" from last year sold out almost instantly. Smith, who appeared on the original 12", provides an additional 'unreleased' remix while Deepblak label head Aybee's 'reshuffle's' the original, burying it deep in chords and reflective vocal delays. Not to miss out on the production action Acid Mondays provide their own East End dub to Watching Eastwood and invite Z Records producer Dan Goldman to play keys over the top as JD73.

After four years and 20 releases from La Vie En Rose, Terence :Terry: delivers his second solo EP on his own label. The Paris maestro, who is currently based in Madrid, has been hard at work in the studio to produce this brand new three-tracker entitled ‘Coney Island’ and all three tracks work as a perfect representation of his deep, sultry and hypnotic sound. ‘Zipolite’ gets things off to a typically groovy start, with snappy percussion and a robotic vocal ….. the intro. It’s not long before a mesmerising bassline creeps in and Terence uses numerous effects to create depth and atmosphere. Strange voices lurk in the background and bright pads swirl around the top line. As the track progresses more layers suck you deeper into the abyss. Up next we have ‘Nugati’, a chilled trip into dreamland. Throughout the track, a high-pitched, twinkling melody creates an air of mystery, while its deadly b-line does a seductive dance with the cutting percussion. This one strikes a great balance between sweetness and raw groove. Last up, we have the title track ‘Coney Island’, which works around hard-hitting hats and claps. Thick, solid bass rubs up against smooth pads and cosmic bleeps – while hip-hop vocal clips drop in every few bars to add that all-important hook. Like the other two tracks on this EP, ‘Coney Island’ progresses in a subtle and engrossing manner, keeping you hooked all the way until the end. Terence :Terry: has got the funk no doubt, and this EP is a testament to more than 20 years spent on the road, in the studio and in the club. Wicked vibes.

During the rave explosion in Paris, beginning of the 90s, ravers & different kinds of people started to go out in big warehouse on the outskirts of the city. DJs from USA (Detroit, Chicago, New York) and European DJs (Italy, Holland, Germany) were playing together. Something new was happening and from all these tendencies, another kind of house was born. We called it “Progressive”. As Guillaume La Tortue, Jerome Pacman and Armand to name a few (truly the best Parisians DJs at that time), Sonic aka Jean-Charles Rousselle was a messenger from this period, educated by Producers & DJs likeDerrick May, Eddie Flashin Fowlkes, Francesco Farfa, Miki, Roby Jay, Baby ford, Joey Beltram or Lenny Dee. Sonic quickly became a key component of the Parisian electronic underground, playing in the biggest events in France and beyond. He started his own label Omnisonus in 1993 with the first release being produced by Jerome Pacman “China Shika & A Voice Spoke To Me”. As it received such acclaim from so many, we decided to repress this legendary EP from Sonic “Q.Bick & The Game” played recently by Ricardo Villalobos, Rhadoo, Nicolas Lutz, Raresh among others ..This two-track EP was truly the future house of the 90s : “Q.Bick (Excursion Mix)” has classic house rhythms, with shorts pads that really captivate, reminding us of the atmosphere of today. The strong bass line that comes at the middle of the track creates a feeling of future & mystery. Following this, a kind of harmony made with an acid bassline & weird voices results in something new & industrial, definitely a French approach! “The Game (Minimal Mix)” was more of a ‘peak hour’ track at that time, that now we might call tech house. It starts with a sample from Touché Records (Dobre & Jamez label), then utilises a heavy bassy beat. A simple yet effective loop that will grip you, helped by some samples taken from the Martin Luther King speech in Washington 1963 “I Have A Dream”. We are so happy to repress this legendary EP from such a period of happiness and madness that we had in Paris We send love to Jean-Charles Rousselle aka Dj Sonic… thanks for trusting La Vie En Rose.

Having spent three years tirelessly growing the La Vie En Rose label from strength to strength, championing avant-garde House music and helping launch the careers of fresh new talent, label boss Terence:Terry: now steps forward with a string of his own works. Inspired by his blossoming collective and following his recent remix of Marcos Baiano on LVR015, ‘Acid Heroes’ EP contains three original Terry productions truly for the club. The title track enters in strong punchy form, concocting deep industrial vibes and sinister vocals that echo into the darkness, until, half way through, it takes a more upbeat turn, lifted by reverberating synth chords. ‘Cliché’ slaps a little harder with a pounding bass and clashing symbols, before warming up with female wails and woos. A short, sharp taste of chord jabs and the journey builds up to what seems like the climatic futuristic ending, before melting into softer territory and a much welcomed infectious kick, for that last lease of life. Rounding off with the murky, splashing number ‘Testing The Water’, deep keys and the expert layering of techno effects equals a sublime underground House track, most certain to arouse the dancefloor.‘Acid Heroes’ is served as the perfect appetiser to get you salivating before ‘House Couture’; the first compilation from Terence:Terry: on LVR, mixing producers past and present, as well as a handful of unreleased future-gems to come on the label.

The "Wish I Could Fly" EP welcomes Boris Horel back into the La Vie En Rose fold, following up the sun drenched supreme "LE KIFF". "Wish I Could Fly" opens with an injection of the trademark high energy levels that we have come to expect from Horel, placing the skewed vocals into a juxtaposition within the waves of frenzied percussion. Next up, Psychonauts Acid Mondays beam in to the future on remix duties and deliver a sharp slab of spaced out techno which is quickly becoming one of the main attributes within their signature cosmic sound. Recovering from the hallucinogenic deep cut "New House" fights its own corner within hypnotic pockets of textured deep house; the track bobs and weaves between sporadic percussion stabs and atmospheric keys subtly bringing the EP to a climax. As October marks the release of "Wish I Could Fly", La Vie En Rose will see its captivating series reach a ninth release, witnessing the label mature into a figurehead for the avant-garde within electronic music.
