We got Cuthead on Rat Life Number 12. You probably know this guy. He is respected worldwide for his one of a kind House and Hip-Hop productions. Lately he said, he got a bit bored with all the soulful jazzy sampling, the groovy shuffles and the catchy hooklines. So, he decided to do something a little different for Rat Life Records. Cuthead have, over the last few years released all kinds of gritty house and hip hop beats but normally through his friends over at Uncanny Valley. We're now overjoyed to offer you his first EP on Local Talk and honestly, it's everything we could've hoped for. Spread out over four tracks you get a real dirty basement jam (Fuck That Shit), a sample friendly house nugget (Get Down) and a melodic 4/4 tune that sounds like if Cuthead and our old friend HNNY hooked up in the studio together It got that lil' sweet twist we all love! To round off the EP we also included something extra special for the beat heads, a jazzy instrumental hip hop number (What Can I Say). A pretty good debut on Local Talk if you ask us

Cuthead got known to the wider public via his releases on Uncanny Valley but his roots reach way back before the label's start. There was a time when Cuthead and his brothers from another mother threw wild parties at abandoned industrial locations or in the woods around Dresden. The crew, which was known as Kunst:stoff Breakz, also established a label where Cuthead released two albums and one EP as free downloads between 2006 and 2010. Over the years the calls for vinyl versions of those early joints were getting louder and so Uncanny Valley decided to give the best tracks from that era a new life on physical sound carriers and start the "Total Sellout". Through refinement and rearrangement 51 tracks were boiled down to a selection of 18 and ended up as an album full of catchy bass lines, heavy beats and sampling excesses. Among the tracks are party starters like the strings-infiltrated "Scissorhands", "The Poncho" or the ever devastating " Iron Lung" which still kicks like Dubstep has never faded. Since Cuthead has always been heavily influenced by Rap music, there are of course lots of great Hip Hop beats on "Total Sellout". Either in the form of funky sample studies like "Painquilizer" and "VibraSkit" or in true fashion with Raps by crew member Alibi on "Hidden Track". Also included on the album are "Rock My Soul" and "All Night Long", some early examples of Cuthead's knack for well tempered and super catchy House tracks, while the double-bass driven "Rythmus '78" shows another jazzy side of him. Once again, the artwork was conceived and designed by Till Hohmann who already did a brilliant job on last year's "Everlasting Sunday".

Music is feeling, music is meetings. In 2015, the S3A RECORDS 04 was released with collaborations of good friends of S3Amet in the world by the music (Tito Wun, Mannmademusic). This Sampler continue the story with tracks from people S3A met during gigs and travels in the past year: Sweely delivers here great speedy long jazz banger with a great voice sample as a theme. The Columbian Felipe Gordon gives a great stompy funk bass track! On the B side, The French G2S drops a beautiful house sample based “Graef like” song. For the last track need a little bit of story. In 2016 S3A released an EP called 3711 on SoundOfSpeed records in Japan. The track “Bush” taken from this EP has been remixed during a contest in early 2018. 42 Remixes were done and the winner has is remix edited here. Pnom Pen gives us here his 80’s electro version of the track adding great pads and a complete different rhythm and grooves!

Llorca known for the success of his first album on F Communication in 2001, returned in 2017 for his second album called The Garden on Must Have Jazz / Membran. Sampling as an art is a concept: Taking samples away from their origins forward something new, emotional or even Funny. “Le grand détrounement” was a movie made in the 90’s by great actors of French media “Canal+”. It took several 50>80’s movies with classical American actors, cutting them and redubbing to make a big funny story.
