The mighty Casey is up to bat once again for Love Notes from Brooklyn. This time, though, it's a more complete three track artist EP on offer. The music, of course, encapsulates everything that's great about Casey's sound: the lush pads, the crispy percussion, the emotional strings, and the dance-floor destroying basslines. Alternative Faction utilizes one such dancefloor destroying bassline to create a real fist pumping moment in the title track; That Time of Year uses a wriggly acid synth line over the aforementioned emotional strings, and to great effect; and New Mission ends the EP in a unwavering fashion; with heartstring-tugging, terk jerking, emotional pads over an acid line in signature Casey Tucker fashion. Dare we say yet another classic both artist and label's catalog? More

"In 2013 Casey Tucker was thrust into the limelight after 15 years in the shadows. Never truly getting the recognition for is Detroit influenced and post rave sound in the 90s, For Those That Knoe reissued some of Casey's classic material and unearthed some gems on DAT in 2013. Fast forward to the current day and a recent treasure trove was uncovered and some fresh DATs untouched since the late 90s were discovered! Ben promptly bought a DAT player on Ebay and shipped it to Casey's home for the un-dusting to commence. FTTK has worked with Casey to present another round of authentic material for this final installment (maybe) of his classic productions. This final chapter rounds off in a deeper more melancholic style. Inner Strength has a warehouse vibe with spacey choir pads, percussive bassline and acid funk. Terraform from Fine Balance 002 gets a rerelease as the A2 cut on this EP. Classic Casey stabs, twinkly leads and shuffling rhythms are the order of the day for what has been a staple in Ben's record bag for an age. The final track presents one of Casey's finest moments. Waiting Game is the after hours yang to the ying of the perfect summer cut BST on KNOE 2/1and rounds the series off beautifuly. Juxtaposition is a slower groovy effort with meandering chords, trademark fizzy percussion and topped off with a lush string finale. Whatever Comes to Mind rounds off the EP with a rolling percussive bassline, delicate arps and smooth sweeping pads.

For Those That Knoe has dug a little deeper into the history books to unearth a somewhat understated gem in the form of Casey Tucker for the second chapter of For Those that Knoe. The mid nineties was a time when the sounds of Techno and House were being combined, new sub genres were emerging into clubs and DJs were forging their own unique take on dance floor electronic music. After a handful of releases on Probe under various aliases and before that on Plus 8 with no other than Ritchie Hawtin, Casey Tucker set up Fine Balance Recordings to showcase his unique melodic Tech House solo productions. The label released two EPs (The Carpet Dancer and Accumulated Knowledge) on 12". Very much in demand today and extremely rare, FTTK has worked with Casey to dig out the original DAT recordings of those records as well as a fine selection of unreleased material to represent the second chapter of For Those That Knoe. Some of the finest melodic Techno piece with glo rious st rings, sun drenched pads, liquid acid funk and sizzling hi hats, Some early acid rave sound and the purity of the early tech house sounds before digital audio workstations became favoured over their analogue counterparts. Derek Carr is smoldering hot at the moment. His every release is being greeted as an instant classic by the Deep House community. So it seems well-timed, then, that he'd run headlong into Love Notes (from Brooklyn), who have been on a not unimpressive run themselves. Perhaps expectedly, this Detroit vibes abound on the record; from the rich strings of Sidewinder (the most dancefloor friendly track here), through the spaced out breakbeat of the title track, down to beautiful, UR-esque closing strains of Indigo. A well curated EP from an artist at the pinnacle of his game. More

These are Love Notes" from Chicago this time as the Brooklyn based label offers a platform for a glimpse into the state of the Chicago undergound. Three original tracks from Chicago man-about-town, Shmoo, and a remix from one of the brightest lights in Chicago's modern scene and one of the more exciting young American producers out there, Garrett David. Standout tracks are Sidehacker, which opens the EP and is a wild ride through swirling pads, with a bedrock bassline that holds everything together, and David's remix of Intuitive Intellect's Waste, wherein he crafts the track into a very modern sounding slice of uplifting house. Another choice EP from this label. More

A great pairing here as the rugged basslines, emotional melodies, and vintage percussion of Perseus Traxx seem right at home on the Love Notes stabel, who seem to be taking a quick break from showcasing artists from their homebase of Brooklyn, as they have on their last 4 records. More Songs About Girls is a cohesive EP of 4 original tracks and neither fans of this artist nor fans of this label will be disappointed.

Love Notes (from Brooklyn) serves up another winner, this time with the sonic stylings of the illustious (and also Brooklyn based) Octo Octa, whose not unimpressive discography already includes releases on such heavyweight labels such as Running Back, Argot, and Deepblak. From the opening, echoed chords and unique percussive qualities of Eyes Low, through the spaced out funk of Touch Formation, to the early morning vibes of I Feel, this EP delivers on all levels. This is the 9th release on this fine American imprint and they show no signs of slowing down their sonic agenda.

The first place the world heard the lead track from this new Love Notes from Brooklyn release, "Where Pathways Meet", was on Deep House legend Mike Huckaby's My Life with the Wave show volume 2. Pascal Viscardi was one of many great artists to take Huckaby's warm tones and turn them into a work of art. "Pathways..." wriggles with deep funk and soul, and is paired with 3 other likeminded tracks for this very well-rounded EP. "Oshakusan" is the dancefloor track, juxtaposing warm chords and an insistent sax sample over the a tough bassline and rhythm combination that's aimed staight at the floor. "Free at Dawn" is the fathoms deep effort, going miles below the surface in a emotional expression of soul, and "And I Showed the Clouds (How to Cover Up a Clear Blue Sky)" provides a perfect outtro, and end to the statement made, making this EP feel truly complete. The second Love Note from Brooklyn is with us and this time it's the all-hardware stylings of DJ Octopus and Steve Murphy of Chiwax fame. All tracks show serious depth, though Untitled 02 is the stand out for its dancibility and force. More
