Soon after the release in 2022 of a triple album dedicated to electronic language, Principles of Geometry continues their orbiting journey that began exactly 20 years ago with "Penta," a Maxi composed of five electro-geometric vignettes that confirm what we already knew: the discreet French duo pilots one of the most underestimated projects in European IDM.
By returning just one year after a massive fifth album (26 tracks), Principles of Geometry makes a clear artistic move: shifting from electronic language unfolded on ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ to gesture, as one would associate intellect with manual, actions with words. On "Penta," to be visualized as the five fingers of a hand sketching the immediate and spontaneous pleasure of a hand pressing a chord, Guillaume Grosso and Jeremy Duval thus combine two essential concepts of their electronic music: the need to make the listener dance with their brains, and to touch with their mental images.
With nods to the godfathers of the genre (Autechre and Boards of Canada) or crossing paths with Aphex Twin in a Michael Mann film, "Penta" is therefore a beauty of gesture first conceived with the fingers, and without the need for words to evoke either the romance or the violence of a chord on a Roland Juno 60.
Mastered by the legend Noel Summerville (Boards of Canada, Kraftwerk, My Bloody Valentine) and designed by Ian Anderson of The Designers Republic (responsible for the graphics of the cult WipEout and many collaborations with the Warp label), this Maxi is therefore listened to as much as a recreational return to the future of the 90s as it is a concise summary of the equilateral career of Principles of Geometry; equally distant between pure emotion and the need to ponder the notes played in this very special ship.

Japanese born Shoko Igarashi's debut album Simple Sentences is a record that, not unlike a piece of luggage checking in from city to city, has managed to absorb vitalin fluences from each place it has landed. Shoko grew upin rural Japan, she studied in the US and is currently living in the most quintessential European city, Brussels. Shining in its diversity, Simple Sentences carries elements from each one of those stops in her life.

New album by french producer Joakim on his label Tigersushi. Through 16 tracks, he explores a world of sounds that blur the line between the natural and the artificial, a psychedelic journey on a modern Noah’s Ark, back to his roots in IDM, Classical music, avant-garde Pop and Ambient.

RELEASE INFO:
This is an appetizer : 4 “club” mixes of new tracks from Joakim’s forthcoming album Second Nature,
all re-mixed by the man himself, navigating between hypnotic Techno, trance-inducing Downtempo
and percussive New Beat.
This is probably Joakim’s most ambitious project so far. An album about our relationship to Nature to
make it short or how Western civilization disconnected Nature from Culture. Every song was born
using field recordings as a basis canvas, the sounds of Nature are the lead voice here. A nature that
is transformed, sublimized, questioning our ideas of what’s artificial, what’s the wilderness, the place
of humans in the age of the Anthropocene and painting a psychedelic landscape to open our ears and
our hearts.
The artwork features a lenticular print (2 images in 1) showing Naruto, a monkey who took a selfie
using a photographer’s camera who later tried to claim the copyright of that image. That claim raised
questions whether copyright can be extended to “non-humans” and was ultimately rejected by the
U.S. Copyright Office who specifically listed 'a photograph taken by a monkey' as an example of an
item that cannot be copyrighted. More

"One of the hardest thing as a musician is to maintain this naive, almost utopian and emotional approach to our music. Especially when it comes to a highly codified genre like Electronic music which appeared in the late 80s/early 90s like a promise of a bright future for music, everything sounding so fresh and revolutionary. When Katerina sent me those demos I heard that freshness, that pure intention, something I remember from discovering melancholic Detroit tunes in the 90s or early Warp ‘artificial intelligence’ compilations, bridging the gap between techno and more intricate electronica. It’s been a while since I didn’t hear an EP so sincere - and not JUST nostalgic, that makes me want to dance alone in my living room and forget about everything else. It’s a subtle thing that makes the difference but that difference is everything, it’s Music."

A young band from Manchester, Y.O.U. ventured to Paris last year to record their debut album with Tigersushi boss Joakim. Starting as a typical brit pop band, Y.O.U. has evolved towards a more synthetic sound that blends acoustic and electronic instruments, pop and experimental music, rock and dance. No wonder these guys come from Manchester, a city where new forms of hybrid dance and pop music evolved and became popular in the 1980s (such as New Order, etc). On remix duties we have Jeremy Greenspan, one half of Junior Boys (whose solo output includes two 12inches on Caribou's imprint Jiaolong), who delivers a track with a strong Detroit / Carl Craig-ish flavor. DyE also offers his own take, delivering an epic remix that is also an appetizer for his upcoming new solo material to be released on Tigersushi.

Tigersushi surprise us and drop a new 12" from label boss, Joakim... 2 Gloriously Produced Tracks, As Usual...! Almost 2 years have passed since Joakim released Nothing Gold. Not that he's been lazy. Those 2 years have probably been the busiest for the tall Musician/producer/DJ/label manager who produced numerous bands in his Fountain Studio in Paris (Zombie Zombie, Montevideo, Alba Lua, Acid Washed and more...). Joakim also did a few remixes (Aeroplane, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lescop, Arsenal, Renaissance Man...) ans recorded a collaboration EP with Kindness that was the debut release on his new label Crowdspacer (www.crowdspacer.com). Not to mention the constant touring, running Tigersushi records and a move from Paris to New York city! Since Joakim has 4 hands, he also managed to start recording some material for a new album between 2 recording sessions and just before he had to move his studio out, he finished those 2 tracks : the slow, claustrophobic but hopeful « Heartbeats » and « Another Light » which brings that subtle typical melancholy to the clubs. Now Joakim is setting up a mini home studio in his flat in NYC, somehow going back to his roots when he started making music at his parents house with a cheap keyboard more than 10 years ago. Usually in the music business, artists release a first single once the album is finished and start a promo campaign from there. But Joakim doesn't really understand the music business (don't tell anyone!), so he decided to release those 2 tracks without having any more finished material for his upcoming album nor an idea of what it will be like. In those times when everything is instant, he'd rather release new material leading to an album while the tracks are finished. Just like a work in progress you will witness an album taking shape before your ears. This is a way to bypass the traditional rhythm of an album launch when everything needs to be done and ready months before the actual release, which usually results in the author being already bored and working on something else when the music comes out.

Prince and Throbbing Gristle on a boat is the kind of feeling you get while listening to his album. Stompin beats and overdriven synths, oldschool drum machines and outer-space sound sculptures. On this first single, Krikor and his Dead Hillbillies invited the great Nicolas Ker of Poni Hoax fame to lay his deep dreadful voice. For proper dancefloor action, Krikor reduced the original himself to a heavy bass disco monster full of percussions and tape delay. On the flip, two typical Krikor tracks, stomping beats and acid guitars bringing the (dark) funk back in Electronic music.

Tigersushi presents DyE debut EP. DyE is French, young and passionate. This EP was recorded in his bedroom within a few sleepless nights. A few analog synthetisers, drum machines and an MPC. No Laptop, no Midi. Old school techniques for futuristic minimalistic ELECTRO. Raw like a sushi. It's ghetto AND it's deep. Dopplereffekt meets Sound Stream in a razor blade fight.

Poni Hoax poppiest moment comes reshaped by CHLOE, one of our favourite French producer and DJ. She managed to turn the original into a long hypnotic house journey driven by repetitive voice drones and cut ups and a pounding bass. Deep, subtly melancholic, cold and warm at the same time, everything we love about Chloe is there. On the flip side, Principles Of Geometry exercise their passion for detuned synthetisers on the beautiful Juno 106 chords of Poni Hoax's Paper Bride, the opening track of their recent album.
