MindTrip is pleased to introduce Part 2 of its new various artists series 'From The Lab to The Club'. For this EP, 4 artists - both established and emerging - were selected to contribute music which embodies the spirit of the series. This release opens in the strongest possible way, with 2 of techno's heaviest hitters, Chris Liebing and Pfirter joining forces to produce the driving, heavy and hypnotic '420'. Notably, this track signals a welcome return to production for Chris Liebing and shows his ability to create strong, dancefloor techno has not diminished. Next up is the highly talented Japanese producer Yuuki Sakai (Subsist, Warm Up Records) with 'Ballat', a relentless, percussive track enhanced by subtle, textured elements. There is no letup on the B side, which opens with the mysterious Obscure Shape's 'Back in Black'. This track promises to yield an intense and building atmosphere, which almost - but not quite - threatens to kill all those who dare to defy its menacing sounds. This strong release is completed with a contribution from UK producer Dax J entitled 'Revelations'. Make no mistake, this is an intense, compelling track, which builds with a strength which is not for the faint hearted.

What is techno if not a powerful conduit for energy? The movement of a sequence, the surge of an effects rush, the respondent reaction in every individual dancer and the moving mass of the crowd as a whole. Whether the frequencies transmit directly into the brain through the intimacy of a headphone reverie, reverberate through the architecture of a space or fill the formless void of the open air, techno’s potency to initiate and stimulate energetic events is profound. This is something Pfirter understands intimately, having spent more than 15 years exploring ways of manipulating the energy on a dancefloor.
Of course, energy is not just about volume and aggression. Tonality, spatial processing and composition can have just as profound an effect as the thump of the kick drum. On his new album Altered States, Pfirter proves that point by zeroing in on the cerebral, psychedelic elements of his craft across 10 incisive tracks. The Argentine producer consciously approached his second album (following 2019’s The Empty Space) with a minimal mindset, using a very focused set of drum machines and synths to achieve a consistency across the record. Captured over a short burst of creativity, it’s the sound of an artist pushing a limited array of tools as far as possible. Despite this concise palette, it’s not an album that repeats itself, but rather an extended trip that flows from one detailed, textured immersion to the next.
The dense, febrile waves of hard-oscillating ripples in ‘A Future In Chaos’ and the sparkling, off-key chimes adorning ‘Yearn’ all speak to Pfirter’s gift for extravagant, surrealist expression within his tracks. ‘Altered States’, by way of contrast, succeeds in its absolute immediacy – a piledriving statement of bleep-driven intent. ‘Boiler’ and ‘Convergence’ land somewhere in between, coiling around kinked rhythmic incantations which still push forwards with precision while offering a different angle from which to approach the dancefloor. Cementing the idea of the whole album as a listening experience, Altered States is bookended by ‘Venus’ and ‘Dissolution’, two minimal exercises in drone-oriented mood setting.
Pfirter understands the role of his music, and his own instincts as a performing artist. It’s crafted to be captivating for DJs as much as the attentive listener. Spanning linear rhythms and broken beats, moments of calm and writhing intensity, Altered States offers a multitude of energetic possibilities in the mix or as a standalone piece of music. The mutable nature of our lives leads to a constant pursuit of musical incentives. Last month we launched a new series on MindTrip aiming to bring together diverse sounds and musical backgrounds under a mutual project.
Mutable Minds edition II welcomes the very exceptional work from five of our favorite artists out there. The release opens with our head honcho Pfirter and his Anti-Routine that comes with his trademark modular effect and a well-constructed sequence. Sleepwalker belongs to Mexico’s finest techno export aka Fixeer who delivered a pounding track with great energy.
On the B-side things are getting deeper and more tripped out yet still powerful and intense with the Swedish duo Kuf & Dold and their track Mint. Mutual Minds II closes with a familiar name that is none other than Jonas Kopp who returns to MindTrip with a very interesting piece that comprises a narcotic feeling and space stabs.

MindTrip is glad to introduce Dold, a huge young talent from the Swedish Techno scene.
Known for his first releases on Float Records and his platform Arsenik, 'Shutdown' EP showcases a big range of his musical identity.
Dold takes us into a hypnotic journey with his melodic interpretations, while he moves things faster on the darkest side of this EP, with his driven techno tracks fully inspired by 909 patterns and analog synth jams.
We are really happy to welcome such a young and furious spirit on the label, and we do believe his tunes work best if you play them out loud.

Having played alongside leading DJs such as Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Rødhåd, Sleeparchive and Dax J, his reputation is growing substantially with each gig and release.
Diego's original tracks on the Automa EP incorporate a raw, analogue aesthetic, with a nod to the old school. Straight up jams ready for any dancefloor, they also have a feeling of menace and purpose from the twisted melodies.

Juho's take on the track loses nothing of the original's quality and adds eerie tones, additional percussion and a new arrangement, making this version a club friendly roller.
The B side reverses convention and opens with a remix of the final track, Contortions by Jonas Kopp. As you would expect from the Argentinian, the track is a tough, driving chunk of techno. The mood undulates throughout and tension is expertly built throughout in this storming, peak time track.
