Philippe Petit - La Floria
Belgian artist Philippe Petit joins Radio Slave’s imprint with four analogue techno cuts on his Rekids debut. The Chamonix based DJ and producer Philippe Petit is widely respected amongst the techno community for his plethora of rumbling releases such as ‘Venus’ on EarToGround and ‘Scrape’ on his own imprint Decision Making Theory as well as releasing on Involve and Figure SPC to name a few. With a wealth of experience playing at the likes of Tresor, Suicide Circus, La Graviere, Batofar, Weetamix, Corsica Studios, and Berghain, the sophisticated production he showcases was a natural fit for the Rekids’ Special Projects series. ‘Anger’ rolls in with force and bumping sub frequencies, rattling percussion and jarring keys, then ‘Crystal Clear’ keeps things murky with evolving pads, fleeting highs and rolling low-end. On the flip, ‘When We Meet’ jumps in with climbing stabs, tight hi-hats and galloping kicks, when finally, ‘La Floria’ cuts through with chopped highs, washing chords, snappy cymbals and dreamy harp-esque patterns.

A1. Mist A2. Solaris B1. Negative Zone B2. Suspended
Info:
Up and coming Belgium-born activist Philippe Petit, operator of the Knotweed and Decision Making Theory labels, returns to Figure SPC with a delightfully versatile four tracker. Spanning cold-wave- synth electronics, purist club techno and up-building melodic zones, it's perhaps Petit's strongest effort yet.
Capturing a neo-classical, archaic mood in 'Mist', Philippe works stunning cyclic synth themes along with tactile filtering drum patterns. 'Solaris' and 'Negative Zone' then both work stand-out tracky, trippy elements into two killer club weapons, showing off the frenchman's studio skills.?The lighter footprint of 'Suspended' closes the EP with a joyful, above the clouds journey, lifting up weightlessly into the ether.

Knotweed Records is a new label launched out of Chamonix, France, by Belgian DJ and producer Philippe Petit. Philippe Petit has been around the dance music scene for a good 20 years. When he was not playing in his thrash metal bands, he was going out but did not like the music he was hearing. That is when he started DJing. Very eclectic in the beginning, he quickly veered towards funk, hip hop and acid jazz in the early nineties, playing for Guru, Ronnie Jordan, Galliano, the Goats, Palm Skin Productions etc. In 1995, he moved to London. Having to stop his sweaty metal activities, he needed to find another way to release all his extra energy, this time on his own. That is the reason why slowly but surely he started to incorporate more and more techno into his DJ sets. By 1997, it was only techno that was coming out of his needles. Having no time to start producing tracks, he focused mainly on playing gigs across London, as well as the one-off gigs in Belgium, France, Italy and Spain, mixing deep house and techno, always with a funk twist. By 2000, he was sharing his time between Chamonix and London, where he became a regular at Cantina Club and at Soulfood. Two years ago he moved permanently to Chamonix where he now spends 100% of his time focusing on making music. After one year of trial, he comes with this first release. As Philippe is composing music mainly when the weather grounds him at home, the dark atmosphere of the steep-sided mountain environment can be felt in all tracks of this release. The sound is techno at its best, Detroit influenced, hypnotic, dubby, but always with a funk element incorporated in the tracks. The key here is energy and groove

We are very happy to finally share with you our first release of 2016 as we bring our second Italian artist onto EarToGround. 'Ness' also known as Andrea Deplano first caught our attention with his seminal track 'Neuronic' which came out in late 2014 on Pole Group - Soon after that release he started work on a full Ep for EarToGround. The tracks included here have been specially made for this release and individually display his excellent dynamic range, sound design and unique take on techno. They have been tried and tested in the best situations, always getting an excellent crowd response - you'll find a place in a set for all the tracks featured here. For our next four releases we welcome back one of our original graphic designers 'Grade A'. We feel the audio and visual here match perfectly. Being played and supported by the likes of: Marcel Dettmann, Answer Code Request, DVS1, Dax J, Boris, Stephanie Sykes, Gareth Wild, Pfirter, Emmanuel, Ben Sims, Truncate, Etapp Kyle, Sigha and Peter Van Hoesen... All tracks written and produced by Andrea Deplano / Mastered by Matt (The Alchemist) Colton / Graphic design Grade A

Drawing Inspiration from London’s Underground dance scene, “Descendents of Sinners” is a result of an ongoing, passionate desire from Dax fusing modern day techno with the sound of classic UK rave culture. 2015 has been a pretty big year for Dax. He's seen successful debut appearances at Berghain and Glastonbury as well as his very well received EarToGround residency with Jaded at Corsica Studios and soon his long awaited debut appearance at fabric. There is a lot more we can say about the tracks individually but instead we'll let the techno do the talking.

For our first release of 2015 we welcome to ETG one of Techno's most seminal artists... Jonas Kopp has always been an influential figure to EarToGround and was one of the main inspirations behind the creation of the label. Since his remix on ETG002 it was only a matter of time before his own full release was to come about. Few would dispute him as being one of the most prominent and exciting figures to emerge from Argentina in recent years. An accomplished producer, in-demand remixer and versatile performer, he has fast transitioned from Buenos Aires’ best kept secret to one of contemporary house and techno’s leading lights. The tracks created cover his full dynamic range old, new and future while demonstrating his skill at making you want to dance.

As EarToGround Records hits its seminal tenth release we have decided to go all out sonically and visually. As you all know Dax has been a core member of EarToGround right from the beginning. It all began with his and Chris Stanford’s jointly produced track ‘Programm’ on ETG001. From then on in he has worked tirelessly at his East London studio, climbing through the ranks to become the very respected and some would say inspirational producer he is now. Over the last year he has very much honed in and developed his now unique sound and recently released on much respected, high quality labels such as Deeply Rooted.
You could say his own EP on ETG has been a long time coming but we like to think ETG010 is what he has been building up to, some of his best work to date. We will let you decide 3 new solid, hook heavy, DJ and dancefloor friendly tracks from Dax as well as 2 centralized locked grooves and additional, extremely slick remix work from ARTS label boss ‘Emmanuel’… Black vinyl. Internal textured black inner sleeve. External textured white outer sleeve. 2 ETG Invader Stickers. Again the artwork is Space related. The theme this time pays homage to what can arguably be called one of the best modern SYFY films ever made.

EarToGround Records 3rd consecutive vinyl only release, once again features as a limited pressing on high quality black wax and is likely to be seen by techno purists as ready to go dj ammunition for a variety of dance floors, as each track & remix carries its own identity. Aptly titled the ‘Kommand EP’ after it’s strikingly powerful A Side, ETG002 see’s the return of resident label artists and firmly rooted crew members, ‘Chris Stanford & Dax J’ after their well respected debut e.p ‘Programm’ on ETG001. The hard-hitting rumble of Kommand, is traditionally industrial with a memorable hypnotic lead. Which during its journey falls into a misty pad of resembling a dark chamber. The ‘Demented Drums remix of the title song comes from the mysterious duo ‘AnD’. Hailing from Manchester in the North of England their destructive pounding distortive bass rides sweetly on it’s driving broken beats, shortly after it’s filtered intro, a chiming of well crafted cowbells join forces with a re-arranged version of the mind teasing lead of the original track. On the flipside EarToGround label boss, Gareth Wild makes his own much-anticipated, debut release for the collection. His original piece ‘Get Raw’ gives this vinyl a different face and another purpose. Taking things deeper but nevertheless, this is for the dance floor, a swelling synth bass line that sucks you into the groove immediately on its entrance. Swooping, ever changing sci-fi effects and haunting calls always drawing interest over a rock steady pace of simplistically pleasing drums. Get Raw sees a connoisseur rework from somebody who probably needs little introduction, Samuli Kemppi of Helsinki, Finland.
A master of deep techno and he certainly does that title justice with the slugging piece of percussive perfection that climbs throughout. A series of subtle drops into chugging analogue bass, with complementary use of recycled and transformed parts of the original by Gareth.

Techno party throwers EarToGround are proud to present there first label release ETG001 on limited vinyl pressing only. Out of London comes the Programm EP with original sounds written and produced by Dax J & Chris Stanford. With their strong influences of traditional techno they have brought it's rawest stripped back elements to life. A mechanism of deep synthesizer stabs, a hard but sweet kick drum and complementary hi-percussion & shakers setting a solid platform for this new born label. On the flip side keeping to its London roots for this first release, EarToGround welcomes remixes from two very highly acclaimed producers: Shifted and Truss. Both mixes come from opposite sides of this sound's spectrum. The Shifted remix does a fine job of taking things darker and bassier with the ever present and stern stabs. Truss’ rework is one for the beat lover’s, manipulated stabs are overrun by finely crafted crunching claps.. Label artwork by Oblivious Artefacts.
