Crimes of the Future is a new label from Timothy J Fairplay & Scott Fraser, and follows on from their night of the same name at the Berkeley Suite, Glasgow and in Plastic People, London. Timothy and Scott both work out of Andrew Weatherall's 'Basement Bunker' studio on Scrutton Street and are part of a group of DJ's becoming known as 'The Scrutton Street Axis'. Timothy is also one half of The Asphodells with Andrew Weatherall who released their first album 'Ruled by Passion, Destroyed by Lust' this year on Rotters Golf Club. Over the last few years between them Scott & Timothy have released music on BIrd Scarer, World Unknown, Astro Lab, Emotional Response/Relish, Magic Feet among others. Crimes of the Future's output is going to be harder edged and more up tempo than many of the labels both have generally been associated with, they want to express their love for leftfield house & techno. Release number one comes from the mysterious Antoine Rouge with his 'Spook Juke' EP. Timothy for a while was letting cult leader and spiritualist Antoine use the studio during the evenings. Unfortunately the relationship turned sour when Antoine broke the Pro One, was abusive when Timothy complained, and then did a runner with the Boss DR55 drum machine. Last seen in Sierra Leone, he did however leave quite a lot of recorded music on Timothy's hard drive. All in his distinctive deep house/techno style - or 'deep donk' as Antoine likes to call it. This first collection is a four tracker, joining the dots between Antoine's influences of European 70's synth slop & 80's chi-town slam-jack.
