At the forefront of the new wave of artists rising from the French underground scene, Parisian hit maker Andrade makes his debut release on One Records with the sensually smooth and solid dance floor bomb, 'Sweet Disposition'. Over on the B Side fellow Frenchman Terence :Terry takes the reins to inject his signature groove while Ibiza residents Acid Mondays round off the package perfectly with a remix that offers everything we are coming to expect from the talented duo. Heading up the A-side, 'Sweet Disposition' masterfully combines a sense of class with stunning synths and subtle samples referencing the prolific scene apparent in 1980s New York, with particular mention of the legendary pioneer Larry Lavan. Melodic keys, deep chords and flowing synths roll across pulsating beats as the track skilfully builds in to a dramatic and somewhat hypnotic affair. Olivier Andrade aka Andrade first made a name for himself through his impressive DJ skills and early releases, fast gaining support from the likes of D'julz, Delano Smith and Ralph Lawson. With releases already on Bass Culture, Poker Flat and Dessous, Andrade is going to shoot straight into the limelight in 2014 being the first non-detroit based artist to release on Delano Smith's MixMode. If that wasn't enough he also has releases lined up on Illusion Recordings, Dessous Recordings, Karat and his own label, Street Knowledge. La Vie En Rose boss Terence :Terry also makes his first appearance on the label with his remix of 'Sweet Disposition' taking things deeper with a powerful low end, complimented perfectly with trippy FX and a clever play on the vocal. Attending the first raves in Paris, Terence holds a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to DJing and producing having played everywhere from DC10 to Panorama Bar with releases on the likes of Freak N' Chic, 2020 Vision, Robsoul and 1trax. Last up, Acid Mondays aka Negghead and Lex Wolf bring their high energy and unique sound to the label with their remix. Having had impressive debut EPs drop on Illusion Recordings, Contemporary Scarecrow & Deep Vibes with support from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, tINI and Loco Dice, it's no doubt 2014 is set to be big for the dynamic duo with a string of more exciting releases on the way. Over the past few years we have seen a surge of artists, music and labels coming out of Romania and, whilst not seen as a traditional hotbed of House Music, this new wave of movers and shakers are working together to create their own lasting musical legacy. The latest in the busy line of producers is 22 year old Bacau born, Marcman. Behind the decks at 14 and studying his art from 18 the young man with a love for angry kicks and heavy baselines has already graced the likes of Quanticman, Plant 74 and Esperanza with his music. Now he's set to join the Bass Culture family as he presents his debut release for the label the "In Trecere" ep. "I was actually sent some Marcman tracks about a year ago by Franco Cinelli" says Bass Culture label chief D'Julz. "I instantly loved his beats and groove and i played them immediately on the Circoloco terrace. I got in touch and asked him to work on an ep for Bass Culture. I specifically wanted it for this summer because his beats are exactly what i love to play in Ibiza." Marcman's 4 track "In Trecere" ep sees him sandwiching the deep dubby sounds of "Rutina" and the percussive guitar licked "Dansand", with the Chicago'esque numbers "Levier" and "In Trecere."

26 years old Andrade is without doubt, one of the most exciting talents from the current crop of young French producers. Having built a reputation within the Paris scene for his skills behind the decks. Releases on Dessous followed and last year Andrade also made an impressive debut on Poker Flat Recordings. Making the first release of his own label Street knowledge, it’s time for Andrade to take centre stage himself with the “Sugar Ep”. Its bass-heavy groove is met with a busy vocal sample and refined piano chords, evoking a picture of his street knowledge.
Sugar is the soundtrack to a loft party. Classics snares, mysterious synths chords and crowd noises. Fantastic. Keeping it old school and rolling with the bass lines and keys, Andrade wraps up the originals with Irreversible and Berlin. For this first release, D'julz offers two excellent remixes of sugar in order to confirm the power of this release.

Fragil Musique reaches the 20th release mark, and offers us a very special debut EP from a newcomer to watch. Vidock lands on the label with an unusual three tracker, oscillating between intense breakbeat excursions and moody Techno hybrids. "Dub Attack" is the main club weapon here. Cycling around the drum loop, pads and samples build up to heavy tension moments, then fade away to fully unleash the force of the stripped down broken kick-bass groove. The pressure is strong and never stops rising, gradually bringing the dancer to a manic arms-shaking state, while sporadic laser synth shots and percussion hints sprinkle the track, smartly shaping its three-dimensional aspect. On the B Side, dance music UFO "Metamorph" is an epic journey through what feels like unexplored fringes of sample driven emotional dance music. Movie-esque haunting voices and disturbing sirens set the vibe, inviting one to drift along this dark and coloured ride. Fellow Nantes native Simo Cell goes trippy on the remix, taking apart the most heady bits of the original and extending them into a deep and breaky piece.

Jäfar make a rapid return to the label and are back to grace the A Side of Fragil 019, while one half of the duo (Elliot Sindall) also pairs up with Constantin Nakov as Seura on the flip. Black Mamba recalls certain aspects of Jäfar's previous work on the Label: the broken drum line, the subtle vocal samples and the global hypnotic aspect of the music. Yet it is also radically different from Marzsia. Black Mamba is a subtle but direct club track, aiming to get the dancers down through its heavy groove. The kick drum and low toms are strongly suggesting leg movement, joining forces with the snares and hats which call upon some serious head nodding.On the B side, White Chapel is another broken beat club piece, but this time feels crafted for the afterhours. The groove is lighter and the heady feel is strong, closing the dancer's eyes and inviting them to drift through the music. Once again, Fragil comes up with original, well produced and highly danceable content, highlighting unsung talents for every versatile DJ out there.

Shortly after his first EP on Dnuos Ytivil, sub-division of Bristol imprint Livity Sound, Simo Cell, neo-Parisian and Nantes native, puts his second release out on Fragil Musique.On this one, the young producer asserts his Bass-tainted Electro influences.Highly skilled and very technical DJ, but above all open to bridges between genres and eras, the record feels like he conceived it for his own club usage.On the A side, two subtle twin tracks, "Reading Rashid" and "Soko Ban". Cycling melodies and hypnotic pads sketch two Bass outlines, as simple as effective, that seem perfectly fit for switching from a stripped down Techno track to and old Jungle weapon.On the flip, hit track "Meteor Racer" is surprising. A rawer and more stripped down Electro piece that lifts the veil a bit more on the young producer's talent.Those four brilliantly crafted track definitely place Simo Cell among the French newcomers to watch closely.

Fragil musique showcase for their sixteenth release, Nummer, a London-based duo that have been close to the label since they started. Emmanuel Corre and Silvère Letellier produce a broad and varied mixture of electronic music, merging club music with electronica and ambient. The pair's high versatility has been widely revealed through their releases on going good, peur bleue as well as on their own nummer music imprint. The strong attention they pay to rhythms and drum machines is obvious on all four pieces of this ep. Stripped out and dripping with groove, “Life Path III" presents warm and rhythmical tracks, backed up with a maelstrom of cosmic soundscapes and misty melodies. If the depth of their composition is only mildly shown on "The 4th dimension", it bursts to sight on “Circulation", with a winding rhythmic signature, floating on watery pads. "Earth shift" and "Cosmic love" lean more towards the dancefloor, while maintaining, in a similar way to their label mate tite, a deep and fleshly aspect that suits fragil perfectly

Nicolas villebrun, half of society of silence and acid square dance, is putting out his first solo album on fragil musique, accurately titled « snare roll lp ». Villebrun only needed a couple of recording sessions during a short period of time, to put the whole thing out from a unique set up. Although an accomplished musician, tite seems to leave his technical skills aside when crafting his music, embracing all the spontaneity one would expect from a techno producer. Listening to the lp, the title starts to make sense. When the snares are not rolling, the smooth basslines take over, strongly dragging bodies towards the dance floor. Hungry man, move into hell, a white track, and the amazing the bell glides are among those. Basslines curved as a horse's behind, subtly swifting through the air, are playing around with smartly spread out rhythms and textures. Tite comes up with nine commonly grounded tracks, but with the necessary talent and sharpness to produce a resolutely fine, homogeneous, and yet diversified techno lp. More
