Moving to England for its second release, Rant & Rave Records presents a proper EP from South Wales-based producer JoeFarr, known for his dancefloor jams on labels such as: 'SLAM', 'Arts', and his most recent success with 2019's epic 12" 'Death Becomes Us'. On the a-side 'In This Anger', which JoeFarr has written with Louisahhh, an anxiously dark, slowly developing atmosphere menaces behind a slow rolling, broken beat for maximum effect. This is punctuated by dark, slightly distorted female vocals with sporadic lyrics subtly encouraging its dance floors to move.. and think. Signature hard and bouncy grooves with infectious in-yer-face techno riffs dominate the rest of the EP with tracks 'Laced Up', 'You Can See Me' and 'You will See Me (Hardcore)', effortlessly weaving in and out of the pulsating groove with an interesting palette of machine sounding synths and heavily processed vocals.

Development always takes time, and time is nothing when the art comes out in his true form. This is 'Dedicate' an very important record that represent something deeper than a peace of wax, label boss Emmanuel took the big responsibility to remix the title track and make his own view of JoeFarr's dedication. On the heels of 2015’s hyperactive Longanimity EP on Leisure System and the recent Sense of Purpose LP via Bloc Records, JoeFarr returns to Leisure System with the Spectate EP, another tactile and punishing contribution to the ongoing GRIDLOCK series complete with an incredible remix from sound scientist Max Cooper. Farr throws down heavy drum grooves on title track “Spectate,” with hi-hats and synth zaps creating malevolent movement around a blurry vocal sample. Teetering on the edge of total malfunction, it lurches and leaps in beguilingly twitchy ways. Max Cooper explodes the track on his remix, offering increasingly distorted sections that lure in the listener before shattering the structure. On the flip side, “Comp Killer” and “In Focus” are two slices of deliciously raw techno, featuring shuddering bass and searing melodies sure to split open any dance floor. The fifth edition in Leisure System’s ongoing GRIDLOCK 12” series, the Spectate EP is yet another example of JoeFarr’s able hand at creating fierce, infectious, and irregular techno. More

JoeFarr inaugurates Leisure System's new GRIDLOCK 12" series with the Longanimity EP, an invigorating exploration of broken techno released April 20th, 2015. Farr has a diverse history, with three well-received releases on Turbo as well as records with DSNT and Power Vacuum. Few producers can claim to have both remixed Tiga and been remixed by Truss, and the Longanimity EP continues Farr's recent drift towards streamlined brutality, leavening intense drum programming with crystalline bursts of color. The clinical and kinetic "Oleum" kicks things off and hurdles towards a shatteringly powerful peak, while "Mormon Shuffle" boasts twisted functionality without sacrificing roughness in the brittle loops. The monolithic "Standard Issue" has an aggressive edge enhanced by whiplash percussion, and the broken piano melody of "FS3+4" inverts the joy typically found in that rave standby, preferring to drop the instrument from the fifth floor and let the chords scatter and shatter as they please. The first release in Leisure System's 2015 GRIDLOCK series representing our ongoing interest in melding the freaky and the functional on the dance floor, JoeFarr's Longanimity EP is stocked with tested and tenacious late-night weapons. A rising star in the lifestyle house arena, Locked Groove has emerged with EPs on Turbo and Hotflush as a credible voice on the tip of pitchfork's tongue, skillfully balancing DEEP with BALLS. Montreal-native Iron Galaxy landed on loads of year end charts as a surprise newcomer with his track 'Attention Seeker.' Rising Visionquest stars Footprintz cover Raid Over Moscow on Turbo's first ever seven-inch release. Featuring a remix by Ewan Pearson. To complement the recent Raid Over Moscow EP, we enlisted Visionquest signees Footprintz to provide their own take on "Rush to the Capsule", highlighting the excellent songcraft of the original while showcasing the sound that guarantees the Montreal duo will live up to the considerable hype created by their debut single, Utopia. For the B-side, we turned to Ewan Pearson, the producer of Footprintz's amazing debut LP (due later this year), and a consistently great remixer. Pearson uses his insider knowledge of the group's strengths, turning the synth-pop mastery of their cover into a "New Wave Moon Rave", complete with all the male-choir pads such a thing entails.
