We’ve been waiting a while for this one… Dark Sky return after a brief hiatus with this incredible EP featuring band of the moment Afriquoi. Many of you will already know one particular tune here: ‘Cold Harbour’ used by Bonobo on his Fabric mix compilation back in January. This gem is now backed with three more blissful, vital fusions. All created with different members of the deeply-rooted London-based live band.? ‘Valmer’ sets the tone with its chimes, bells and chants, featuring the drumming of percussionist Andre Marmot aka Minioca. It's measured, restrained and impossible not to get goosebumps to, a near-spiritual experience the deeper you get into the groove. Elsewhere ‘Love Walk’ takes a much more subdued sojourn into the cosmic dusk. Mid tempo and much more focused on the rich layers of atmospherics than the beats, this will disarm a crowd at 50 paces. Next our minds are altered by eight-minute synth-striking mystique marathon ‘Cambia’ featuring the Kora playing of Jally Kebba Susso. Finally, ‘Cold Harbour’, one of the highlights from Bonobo’s evergreen mix from the London club institution, the combination of those rattled strings, pregnant bass staccatos, rolling percussion and deep undulating bass make it one of the most versatile and touching tracks Dark Sky have given us so far. And that’s saying something.? Breaking the Dark Sky silence that’s been almost two years, the ‘Clod Harbour’ EP opens up a whole new page in the London act’s legacy. And there’s plenty more to come. To mark the release of their sophomore album, Dark Sky present a pair of remixes of their latest tracks. Brace yourself for a double treat of raw dancefloor virtuosity via Miami and Munich. Omnidisc labelhead Danny Daze takes on the atmospheric march of "The Walker", creating an eerie and intensely long build-up that eventually gives way to a slamming yet ethereal EBM finish. Next up are Munich’s techno overlords the Zenker Brothers. They infuse „Kilter“ with some genuine breakbeat magic and hard-hitting industrial vibes while brilliantly reinventing the original track’s melodic themes. Spot-on. More

"When the sky turns dark, the world sounds a lot different." (De:Bug) Dark Sky represent progression. The London duo have never settled for a specific sound nor dwelled in a single niche too long. What's striking about all their releases is their passionate love for all kinds of electronic music not exclusively dance floor related. This is no different with Othona, the second album from Dark Sky on Monkeytown Records. Across nine tracks Matt Benyayer and Tom Edwards manage to reinvent themselves once more by merging contemporary techno, classic electronica and their roots in British bass music into a touching and thrilling whole. Dark Sky release the “Voyages” remix EP. The record comes as a two headed monster of straight 4 x 4 club music, each side rendering the UK producers´ sounds into something entirely different. Fellow Londoner Francis Inferno Orchestra concentrates on the percussive motif of the original – perversing its rattling structure into a frisky tribal house rhythm. On the flip side Redshape delivers a killer techno reworking. His remix translates “Voyages´ central moody sci-fi theme into a powerful bassline. The move proves perfect – the fizzing bass synths drive the track into prime time material. It´s no wonder the track has already been dropped by some of the big BBC radio jocks. This is one to watch.

Throughout her much-lauded career as a DJ and producer, Ciel has worked hard to build community through events and DJ workshops in her home city of Toronto and on a larger scale with podcasts and projects meant to elevate women artists. The title of her latest EP, “All We Have Is Each Other,” reflects her history of mutual support, and in these times when so many of our connections seem broken by the pandemic, it offers a reminder that music still has the power to unite us.

Ciel has never been an artist who lets genres define or constrain her, so it seems only fitting that this release lands on Mister Saturday Night Records, a New York City label with a similar ethos. It’s in this refusal to restrict her sound to narrow definitions that something magical happens.

This 5-track EP spanning dance floor fillers and home listening pieces builds on a frame of tough footwork-paced kick drums, the skip and swing of 2-step garage, broken house, and slow, meditative beats. Woven throughout are hopeful melodies, dappled with sunlight tones and layered with organic percussion. The connective tissue is a deep feeling of joy and hopefulness in the power of music and collective humanity.

When the world goes up in flames, all we have is each other. Music connects us with like-minded communities that both shelter and empower us. With this emotive collection of diverse songs, Ciel reaches out a hand and invites us to be a part of something beautiful and authentic. More

During the pandemic shut down of 2020 we became absorbed and obsessed by one record in particular. That record, released digitally via Mexico City label N.A.A.F.I., was ‘Get Free’ by TYGAPAW, which features multidisciplinary artist Mandy Harris Williams. A complete body of work intersecting their musical and cultural roots, this is an 11-track collection of hard-hitting, cathartic energy, exploring black joy, the active dismantling of imagined limitations, and the eradication of self doubt using techno landscapes.

Upon learning that there was no plan to release the record on vinyl we started a conversation about making that happen on Mister Saturday Night Records.

Two years later and through numerous pressing delays we are honored to announce the belated release on two slabs of orange vinyl and updated artwork. More

We’re putting out the first Mister Saturday Night Records release in a long while. It’s by Russell E.L. Butler, and it’s called “Blah Blah”. The record comes out on Friday, September 4, and it contains three tracks made in Prague at the Synthesizer Library and one track made in Russell’s pre-New York home in Oakland.

On the EP’s release date Sept 4th, which is Bandcamp Day, all of the Mister Saturday Night Records share of Bandcamp proceeds from the release will go to Princess Janae Place, an organization that provides referrals to housing for chronically homeless LGBTQ adults in the New York Tri-state area, with direct emphasis on Trans/GNC people of color.

The vinyl release, designed by Boot Boyz Biz, includes a poster featuring these words from Russell:

What are my dreams when they are spoken into real space? Are they statements centering my desires? Are they indictments to hold myself accountable to my vision of life?

My consciousness is meandering and at times I celebrate this drone of words. Stripped of meaning, to reveal what’s beneath. Not an answer, but further questions. The purpose of the mantra is to quiet the conscious mind until the spirit takes over.

Place is important. It grounds the abstract in our humanity. These things came from somewhere. Many places. To culminate into one. Connecting them all. And creating something entirely new. Not an answer, but more questions.

He then moved to Detroit to apprentice with Mad Mike Banks, performing as part of Los Hermanos and Galaxy to Galaxy. More than twenty years on, he still lives and breathes music. Shore is a vibraphonist and composer based in Brooklyn. Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter from Mister Saturday Night met him through NYC music institution, Nublu, where he worked with the legendary jazz maestro Butch Morris and Sex Mob and Tom Waits drummer Kenny Wollesen. At the very first Planetarium listening session, where Eamon and Justin blend records into live performances for people sprawled on the floor of a loft for six hours, one of Justin's friends leaned over to him and asked, "What is this record? It's amazing." It wasn't a record. It was Shore, playing A Hundred Times in the corner of the room.

That record – specifically "PTR", which we pitched way down and turned way up – was a regular fixture on our platters, so we were stoked when the man in Knoxville got in touch with these groove-heavy, stripped-back floor fillers that now make up the Anjuna EP. When he returned to Japan, he got to working on the music we now present to you on The Clay EP. This is Jun blending loopy, psychedelic disco stylings with chugging drum work for three party-ready cuts. They've been chopping up our dance floors months; we're excited to hear them do the same to yours. More

Nathan Melja is the same young Frenchman whose debut EP we released under the name Melja late last year. Since then, he moved to New York and worked at Mister HQ for a few months, manned the light booth at the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday parties (DJs make the best light guys), and spent most of his time outside that making music. Leo Draws is the culmination of that music-making, two murky but beautiful tracks centered around vocal samples and one off-kilter number aimed at the dark corners of the dancefloor. More

Atlus is a young man with the world on his shoulders. He holds it from misty Glasgow, where he spends most of his time in the halls of Rubadub. In the three songs on this epic EP, he lifts up party-melting disco house, clanging ambience and bubbling techno – and not for a second does he hint at letting the ball drop.
