7he Myriads debut on Theomatic with the stellar 'Betelgeuse EP'. It is a bow to the era of all-round enthusiasm for space exploration and travelling to far off galaxies that swept across Russian (then Soviet) youth in the late 70's-early 80's. Highly influenced by the sound of the likes of Didier Marouani's Space and Soviet space-rock legend Zodiac (which sold 20 million copies of their albums in the USSR and lately found way to Environ's "Unclassics" compilation), all four tracks on the EP are well charged with nostalgic analogue synth lines, powerful guitar riffs and dynamic live drums. If someone told us this was some unreleased stuff produced back in 1980, we would certainly believe...

A1. Hope
B1. Pulse Code
B2. Dreamscape
Shortinfo:
'Pulse Code EP' by Amberflame - Andrei Zakharov's (aka An-2) side project aimed at finding the right balance between organic yet experimental sound - is a selection of top-notch electronica with the flair of old-school disco and everything inbetween. The crafty and meticulous use of a variety of custom analogue hardware give way to keeping an open mind with production and sound design, which varies greatly, but at the same time, shares a coherent quality throughout the EP.
The opening track "Hope" sets the mood with its melancholic airy strings and pulsating arpeggios developing effortlessly until the groovy guitar bass kicks in lighting things up and giving the mix a completely new perspective.
Taking a more experimental edge 'Pulse Code' is a PCM-inspired leftfield electronica piece which goes a new direction with its solid synthwork and fluent drum programming.
The title of the closing cut 'Dreamscape' speaks for itself: it is a meditative electro-focused affair

This is followed by An-2's remix of D-Pulse's first track from their latest full-length album, "Gratitude", which first appeared as a mystery track on An-2's 2018 SoundCloud mix, now seeing the light of the day by popular demand, and is not to be missed. B2. Cold Front
Shortinfo:
An-2 and Samos have turned the clock back to finish off a couple of sessions they'd recorded together years back. Maxim Samos is our keen friend and sophisticated guitar player from Minsk, Belarus that we know for years. His first appearance on Theomatic was back in 2008 with space-rock tune "Alpha Storm", which received lots of positive feedback and found its way to the Prins Thomas - Live At Robert Johnson compilation. As well as guitars, Maxim can play almost any string instrument and, on one of his erstwhile trips to Istanbul, he dropped by a music store, picked up a Saz and immediately set it alight, blowing away the entire staff. After scoring a big discount, he came out, clutching it in his hands. An-2 commented on Samos' playing on the Saz during one of his first visits to Minsk, and immediately suggested cutting a track together - something that took 10 years, but the wait's been worth it. What we've got is surreal halal-acid-folk-disco affair, perfect for whirling dervishes or dancing the dhikr. The story's continued on the B-side, where we're treated to a tale of trips in a GTI, before finishing with a Nordic saga about cold fronts coming at us from behind the Polar Circle.

B2. Dusky Downtown (Amberflame 'Jitter Junk' Mix)
Shortinfo:
Theomatic is back with a surprise 12-inch from the label's mainman An-2. Mint EP is a collection of four space-boogie jams spanning a variety of moods and tempos that have been recorded over the period of last couple of years. The lo-fi beats and pulsating kalimba-esque arpeggios on 'Sigint' create an instant feel of a sci-fi movie soundtrack, while an ultra-deep kick drum and a punchy bass on 'Mint' is a sure way to test your speaker performance. Things get more chilled and pensive on the flipside with 'Dusky Downtown''s brooding synthwork and rolling pads taking you on a stroll along glittering neon-lit city streets. Last, but not least, Amberflame's take on 'Dusky Downtown' is a steaming affair that uses tight compression and lush synths and to create that special euphoric dancefloor moment.

Acos Coolkas, - Lunokhod 2
As hot as ever the new EP from our Siberian disco friends is finally landing into Theomatic's catalogue. The title track "Solar wind" is a Rhodes driven hands-in-the-air early night anthem: simple yet powerful, just the way we like it! The flipside features an offbeat cosmic number "Planetarium" which sounds like a perfect soundtrack for some colourful sci-fi cartoon about the early years of space exploration, with all those rockets, flying saucers, stars and comets with long tails. The bonus track (available as a digital download only) is named after the Soviet Moon exploration robot vehicle Lunokhod 2 ('moon walker' in Russian) which was sent to the Moon in 1973. Being rather minimalistic at the begining it slowly evolves and reaches its apogee closer to the end with calm and beautiful melody which leaves the listener in a peaceful mood.

After two years An-2 is breaking the silence with his new EP demonstrating a fully refreshed sonic palette he's been in the search of. Built over a quirky synth bass line, "Beside me" is filled with all the right melodic elements that walk a thin line between sounding baroque yet minimalistic at the same time. "Chronos", named after the Greek god of time, rolls on like the second hand on a clock face - surely fit for an early night dance floor it will never become an anachronism in your record collection. And finally, "Dare" which combines all the usual suspects: a funky bass guitar, dreamy arpeggios and ethereal pads - is set to please any discerning crowd!

When we heard Pompeya for the first time and were told they were from Moscow, we were like: - What!? Are you kidding? This is probably the first Russian band singing in English with such a classy Brit touch and male vocal being very strong and sophisticated at the same time. They jestingly describe their style as "melodramatic popular song" and "Cheenese" is indeed a very dramatic piece with simple yet powerful composition and lyrics that really make BIG sense. The original is very well supported by a bunch of remixes each of which is unique on its own. An-2 & Samos come with a warm, relaxed and funky instrumental version which is followed by a blockbuster mix from Moscow disquo maestro Leonid Lipelis (an entirely perfect dance version of the original that could ever exist) and finally, for those few sirs and mesdames who are not yet aesthetically satisfied and who still find themselves seated while others jump and shout, here come D-Pulse with their 'Paranoid' mix that gathers the thunderclouds to the full darkness and - at the end - lets the revival sunbeams break through.

Izhevsk - a small city located in the Western Urals area of Russia. It's basically known for its military industry that produces nearly every piece of NATO's nightmare weapons on the planet. It was a closed city during Soviet times and it's still hard to reach as it stands away from the big communication routes and hubs. It's surrounded by small towns producing stuff like long-range ballistic missiles and chemical weapon storages. If there's going to be a nuclear war, no doubts - the first intercontinnental missile will fly to Izhevsk. A very optimistic image, isn't it? Taking into acount all that, it's really hard to understand the fact that Izhevsk is also known as 'the electronic music capital' of Russia. Even before the computer music boom it was known for the strongest alternative music scene in the country. There definitely is some obscure power that feeds the inspiration of people who create while living in such surroundings. This compilation will give you the perfect sence of it.

SHORT INFO:
Canadian deep house don Nick Holder's Fruit Loops EP is next to get the remaster and reissue treatment from Definitive Recordings. This label, now overseen by Get Physical Music, first released the EP back in 1995 when Toronto-based Holder had already become one of house music's most tasteful operators. He went on to release over 125 EPs and singles under countless aliases, in various groups, and on his labels DNH Records and Treehouse Records, as well as !K7 Records and NRK. His style spans house, disco loops and minimal Chicago grooves and is always high on immersive atmosphere. Opener 'Dance Dance Dance' brings together all those aspects of the Holder sound with its funky guitar riffs looping beneath raw drums and disco basslines. Classic Chic samples burst out of the mix to bring an air of celebration and party, and it makes for an irresistibly feel-good sound. 'Keep on Running' is a steamy and sweaty house jam with loopy drums and bass and more smartly chosen samples, this time from Roy Ayers, that bring the funk and never let up. It has long been a go-to anthem for house DJs, and the realness and rawness of the emotions in Holder's work also shine through with the filtered synths and jazzy keys of 'The Message of Love', which is complete with bumpy and irresistible drums. Last of all is the unfettered party spirit and diva vocals of the brilliantly lo-fi funk-house pumper that is 'Clap Ya Hands'. This EP hasn't aged one bit and remains a definitive piece of early Deep House history.

B2 - Eighty Ain't
Release Info:
Quartet Series is back with the Bodybuilder Series after Scott Franka's popped the new offshoot's cherry in the spring. For this sophomore release, Nachtbraker sourced some serious production talent from Eindhoven, The Netherlands. While it's the Portamento Boys' first ever release, they have the chutzpah to go full-frontal Italo and pull it off with great panache with a moody and energetic EP. The record is characterized by catchy melodies, quirky vibes and warm analog grooves. Connoisseurs will instantly recognize the TR-606 and 707, SH-101, Ensoniq Esq1 and a Casio CZ-3000.
The Italo express jets off and takes no prisoners with "Been There Come Back", a banging workout paying homage to the glorious 80's. Shoulder-pad boogie anyone? "Portamento 101" feels like you're playing the 1986 version of Outrun on your Sega. On the flip "Final Dinner" serves up some fine Asian-Italian fusion Cuisine, and finally the P Boys drop "Eighty Ain't", acknowledging that even though the tracks are clearly inspired by the 80s, they didn't just emulate, but innovate instead.
Now let's introduce the Portamento Boys. Some say it al began when the first episode of "Jacques, zo is het wel weer genoeg geweest" was aired on the Dutch box back in the second half of 1988. Others say it was the respect he got for robbing the local Albert Heijn with the famous saying, "Hallo, Jumbo" that made him end up in solitary confinement. His colleagues say he never let go of Piet, his last undercover assignment. But the only one to help him in these times of mental distress, identity crises and general psychosomatic turmoil was Koos. After all these years there is a mantra to find in Piet's life that keeps him going. He managed himself, stayed on his feet and let his life live him instead of the other way around: 'I never chose this life, and neither did Koos'.
To keep personalities as Piet alive, Koos helped him form an undercover band. Problem might be that they have switched names more often than an octave switches in harmony from scale to scale. That's why they return as the Portamento Boys. Always modulating about and in between. Nothing appears as it seems.
Andiamo!

Andiamo!

Dam Swindle - That’s Right
2
Dam Swindle - Minor Fools
3
Dam Swindle - Soul’s Lament
Format : Vinyl 12” (180 gr., Limited Full Cover)
Track list:
A That’s Right
B1 Minor Fools
B2 Soul’s Lament
Release Info:
“Pumping, vibrant, and packed with energy”: Iconic duo Dam Swindle deliver once again with their ‘Minor fools’ EP.
Last year, Dam Swindle celebrated their 10 year anniversary with the ‘Keep on Swindling’ series. The hard-hitters ‘All I want’, ‘Good woman’, and ‘You’ showed various sides of that much loved Swindle sound as well as some steps into a more leftfield electronic area. Now, they’re back on Heist with a 3-track club EP full of that recognizable upbeat energy.
‘That’s Right’ has Dam Swindle in full live mode, not unlike their timeless classic “Call of the Wild feat. Jungle by Night”. Live keys, bass, percussion, and horns (the latter by the Jungle by Night’s trumpet guru Bo Floor) give you the feeling like you’re on stage with a full band, hearing them give their all to record this heartwarming piece of music. Over the course of its 7 minutes, the duo takes you on an electrifying feel-good trip through the Swindle sonic universe.
On The EP title track ‘Minor fools’, Dam Swindle go into classic US house mode. Shuffling hats, a bouncy bass and male vocal chops lay the foundation for some crunchy jazz chords (think Underground Resistance with a Swindle touch). The track builds tension with haunting organs, looped vocals and smart modulation in the keys. Add to that the bouncy synth section at the heart of the track and you’ve got a jam that slaps hard in the best way imaginable.
The EP ends with the dreamy & contemplative ‘Soul’s lament’; A slow burner that builds and builds on a relentless rhythm of bells and skipping hi-hats. Slowly, a massive string section takes control of the track, after which, an acid line takes over that gives the track its driving electronic touch. It’s a welcome deep note to an EP that shows you exactly why Dam Swindle are such well respected and versatile producers.
Grab this record while you can and dance, dance, dance!

amberflame - ultra violet
UPC: 827170552067 Release date: June 16th
Tracklist: A1. Unique B1: Ultra Violet
Short info:
The eighteenth Theomatic installment comes courtesy of Amberflame. The A-side Unique is a lean towards the early-naughties dancefloor-oriented French electronica with a certain amount of delicate synthwork and contemporary crisp blended in. The laidback and melancholic Ultraviolet, on the flipside, would, without any doubt, make a perfect soundtrack to a sunset drive down the coast... with a beautiful lady... in a convertible. More

B2 Demuir – Werq. feel. gruv. vogue.
B3 Adryiano – Me and you and her
Release Info:
Label bosses Dam Swindle dive into the label back catalog and compile 2 special edition releases of classics to celebrate 10 years of
Heist Recordings.
Founded in 2013, Heist Recordings has quickly become a go-to house label, giving rise to a vibrant scene of groove aficionados and all things
deep house. Now in the label’s 10th year, Dam Swindle take a moment to reflect on the great tracks that have come out over the years with 2
limited edition compilations of classics.
On this first compilation, the duo starts with the track that helped the label burst onto the scene: Their instant classic ‘The break up’. With its
vintage vocals, Rhodes chops and instantly recognizable bell loop, it’s easy to understand why so many people are still in love with this track. It’s
only fitting that this anniversary release for Heist goes back to where it all started.
The second track on the compilation is from the legendary Detroit outfit Scan 7: Their 2020 track ‘The Best is yet come’ from Heist’s 50th release.
The appearance of Scan 7 on the label turned quite some heads at the time, but in fact, it made total sense. The mutual love for house, key
grooves and that classic Detroit vibe brought Scan 7 and Dam Swindle together and the result was an amazing release full of Midwest electronic
funk.
On the flip, we’ve got Dutch duo Fouk with their first hit on the label ‘Kill Frenzy’, which kickstarted the rise of their signature sound back in 2014.
The release ends with 2 extremely catchy and strong house releases by Demuir and Adryiano. Demuir’s vocal cut ‘Werq. Feel. Gruv. Vogue’. is
one of the highlights in Demuir’s catalog and a showcase of the producer’s knack for sampling and writing a house groove. Adryiano’s piano
house track ‘Me and you and her’ is a perfect ending to this first compilation, showing us that great house music can be as simple as repeating
something over and over and over, until that groove is all you hear.
The vinyl release of Heist Classics vol. 01 is printed on clear 180 grams heavyweight vinyl and is limited to 1000 records with a special design by
our Art Director Bas Koopmans (Wellness.)
Yours Sincerely,
Maarten & Lars More

OXIA - Domino Original Rework

OXIA - Domino Robag's Lasika Cafa

OXIA - Domino Matador Remix
Oxia's classic 'Domino' gets reworked for it's ten year anniversary - in 2 vinyl parts.
A decade after initially seeing the light, Oxia's now classic 'Domino' get's reworked to celebrate it's anniversary. The new release features a new cut by Oxia himself as well as several remixes by none other than Frankey & Sandrino, Robag Wruhme and Matador. The EP will be released through Agoria's newly found record label Sapiens on February 24th.
Ten years ago the track made waves in the international dance music circuit, striking up chords with techno, trance and house DJs alike to quickly become an all-time classic. Having never expected the track to reach the status that it his, it's a very dear project to Oxia and he needed quite some persuading to give in and let Agoria and his team create something that was worthy of the original. The set of tracks are the first officially commissioned remixes by Oxia ever.
"Finding remixers took some time, the amazing Frankey & Sandrino who's track 'Acamar' is my absolute favourite of 2015, Matador that just launched his Rukus label as well is the multi-talented ex label mate at Kompakt Robag Wruhme. They are all incredibly gifted and fortunately patient enough to wait for this EP" - OXIA

A2 Dam Swindle ft. Jungle by Night - Call of the Wild (Cinthie remix)
A3 Dam Swindle ft. Lorenz Rhode - High Life (Jura Soundsystem remix)
B1 Dam Swindle - Ketama Gold (Matt Karmil remix)
B2 Dam Swindle - Ex Machina (Gari Romalis' Detroit on the move remix)
Release Info:
After presenting Dam Swindle’s sophomore album High Life in 2018, we felt it was the right time to serve you up a tasty selection of remixes from all over the world and all over the sound palette. We’ve got some dub and boogie from Australia and the Netherlands, classic deephouse from Detroit, dark and dreamy deephouse from the UK and some high energy house from Germany. This set of remixes comes from 5 artists we hold in high regard and have made a serious impact on their part of the scene; some recently and some already a long time ago.
We invited Dutch techno -plot twist alert!- legend Steve Rachmad to come up with a re-interpretation of ‘Yes, no, maybe (feat. Tom Misch)’. His Sterac Electronics remix actually has nothing to do with techno but is an uplifting modern boogie version of the already funky original. Glimmering electronics, some added harmonics and a tight 80’s groove is what this version is all about.
The A2 is reserved for Cinthie, who took the high energy afro funk track ‘Call of the wild (feat. Jungle by Night)’ and turned it into a full on house frenzy with solo’s all around and a groove that just keeps on going and going.
The A side is completed with a remix by Jura Soundsystem, who has impressed many of us with his balaeric influenced synth-boogie, and dub on his own label ‘Isle of Jura’. Here, he chose to remix ‘High life (feat. Lorenz Rhode)’ and has done an excellent job in re-imagining the track into a tamed down, dreamy dub.
On the flip, there’s Matt Karmil’s take on one of the album’s beatless tracks ‘Ketama gold’. He goes in deep with some dusty drums and an arrangement that keeps on building and building, keeping the chord sequence from the track’s outro as a main loop and adding subtle FX, toms and acid hits and a final delivery where electronic cowbells up the energy level by a notch or two.
We finish off the compilation with a moody deephouse re-interpretation of ‘Ex machina’ by Detroit legend Gari Romalis. The twisted machine funk of the original is craftfully replaced by a dusty house loop, dreamy pads and smart usage of the original’s drum effects to build momentum.
This remix package brings a lovely new chapter into the story of ‘High Life’ and we hope you’ll enjoy these reworks as much as we do.
Yours Sincerely,
Maarten & Lars.
