Paradygm Shift, the first Robert Hood album to be released since 2012. A staggering record of techno dynamite sees the Detroit legend excelling at what he does best. The record serves as a milestone for the Dutch label Dekmantel, celebrating its tenth anniversary, with the label’s 50th release. Paradygm Shift is return to the distinguished style that defined Robert Hood’s music in the early 90s. It is the older, and more mature brother to Hood’s classic Minimal Nation, highlighting his more evolved, technical craftsmanship, It is an album of crisp, smooth and delicately orchestrated techno that is quintessentially minimal in focus, and grandiose in sound, juxtaposed with electronic funk, wrapped up in blisteringly urgent, and honest, pulsating techno. The LP is the culmination of a three EP series released on Dekmantel. “The idea behind it is just a shift in our focus. We can become so complacent; we are so comfortable with our surroundings. I think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset." Robert says about the record’s concept. "I felt it necessary to reiterate Robert Hood as an electronic music artist who is bringing minimalism back in the forefront, and not to get lost in the melody. I want to get back to the simple repetitive programming that I'm known for, and to me it was returning to that, and shifting the listeners' focus.”

Shonky’s debut EP for the label bears a lot of his signature elements, mixed in with a dash of patented Culprit funk. The title-track fits the label’s canon of soulful, warm grooves and provides the inspiration for the rest of the EP. The two companion songs ‘La Bestia’ and ‘Kwality’ took shape as label and artist moulded the release together. In ‘La Bestia’ Shonky serves up his take on the melodic, funky bassline sound which Hot Natured pioneered for the label, with his own more euphoric twist. ‘Kwality’ channels Shonky’s love for classic 90’s US house. It works a dancefloor but reflects LA’s sun-drenched vibe far more than darkened warehouse spaces. The song recently set the roof ablaze at Culprit’s Sonar showcase. An outgrowth of another trans-Atlantic relationship also sees Londoner jozif join Culprit on this release, remixing ‘Oasis’. His remix has been a secret weapon in Droog sets for the last few months, with its dramatic piano flourishes and jozif’s own original guitar elements adding up to a modern take on a truly Balearic style. It’s only fitting that jozif has just become a Space, Ibiza resident. Through a “meeting of the minds” last year in London and playing together in Miami and Sonar, a friendship between the label and jozif has been cemented that, in typical Culprit symmetry, will see him go from remixing to contributing a full release to the label later this year.

Allez! Real Tone is back with another fresh new EP, full of deep flavours from two underground rebels. As always we're focused on the highest quality and the best music, regardless of genre, regardless of style and most definitely not concerned with the latest trends. Our man at the controls for this journey into the depths of electronic music is Alland Byallo, a Los Angeles-born producer who really hit his stride while living in San Franscisco. It was there where he became one of the team behind the west coast city's legendary Kontrol parties, along with Sammy D from Pillow Talk, Greg Bird, Nikola Baytala, and Craig Kuna. The seminal events gained all promoters worldwide notoriety and helped Alland to evolve his style. He's currently residing in Berlin where, of course, he's really found himself musically so consider this new EP a cocktail of West Coast USA meets Berlin. A product of Alland's melting pot upbringing, yet oh-so-cohesive and built for dancefloor workouts, as proven by his outings on labels such as Liebe* Detail, Poker Flat, Dirt Crew and now Real Tone Records. On Got It Wrong, Alland combines punchy beats with an infallible bassline, sturdy and energetic though not too imposing Allowing the other elements of the track to do their work. Subtle synths bashfully creep into the fray, join by jaunty whirrs which appear in the distance and a vocal that slowly but surely evolves, along with the track. Mesmerising twinkles dance around the bassline and the vocals reaching a crescendo, which pulls you into a faultless breakdown keeping you hungry for more before it delivers the ultimate understated drop. The track is over ten minutes, yet it feels like half that time, which is a credit to Alland's superlative production skills. Deep house aficienado Alex Alvarez steps up for a remix and switches it up properly. Whereas Alland's original used its slow yet steady evolution to create an engaging groove, Alvarez injects some verve into the track with irresistable 4x4 beats, a repeated, spliced up vocal and a bassline that will have even the most uptight raver shaking their hips like there's no tomorrow. Says Alex, 'I figured I could add something really nice by chopping up the vocals and other parts and put some of my NY/LA Flavor in there. Wanted it to be a bit ruff and more tracky but still keep the coolness of Alland's original vibe. Just kept it simple and not over do it keeping the groove right in the pocket.' Too true! So there you have it, two different versions of the same sublime, groovy number. Take your pick, but rest assured, you're Selecting quality all the way. Another Real Tone classic in the making!

Two great friends, and exciting young talents, reunite for their second outing on Real Tone. The transatlantic partnership between Leeds-born Burnski and New York's M A N I K has already produced one special creation – dancefloor smash You Know What It's Like. Full of funk and relentless energy, the track was a great fusion of the contemporary styles of two well-respected producers. It also became one of Real Tone's most charted releases in 2012 and held up a prime position in the Beatport Top 10. Now they've teamed up once again to produce the follow-up, Next To Me. Playing out like an action-packed sequel, Next To Me once again oozes funk from every pore, working off a steady bassline, solid 4x4 beats and vibrant synth work. Though the overall feeling is a little more laid back than You Know What It's Like, just like its predecesssor, it features vocals provided by M A N I K himself who often utilises his voice in his music – from simply humming basslines to straight-up singing. Rising French star Manoo (who has releases on Basenotic, Deeply Rooted House and Buzzin’ Fly) steps in on remix duties and flips the track completely on its head. The man whose motto is, ‘Dance or die!’ transforms the funk-infused dancefloor number into an ethereal deep house track, minus the vocal. Smooth chords and a retro organ bassline keep it sultry, with Manoo’s version basically a completely new track - together with the original it makes for an essential addition to any discerning DJ’s collection. It goes without saying that, individually and as a combined team, Burnski and M A N I K are a force to be reckoned with, as they've proven with both infallible Real Tone EPs. No doubt they'll be back at the top of the charts with this hot new number.

Marking their full debut on Real Tone, The Martinez Brothers (Chris and Steve) have concocted a lethal two-track EP full of dancefloor appeal and encompassing both new and old school house music influences. The New York-born twosome have always had a close affinity with the French label, with boss Franck Roger's penchant for NYC sounds forming the foundation of a common bond between the artists. The working relationship had already begun quite some time ago, but it wasn't until September 2011 when the brothers produced an edit of Zakes Bantwini "Wasting My Time" remix by Dan Ghenacia that they started to work with Real Tone. They returned to the label in June 2012 with their second release a rugged remix of Shonky's "Le Velour", and now they're back with their first extended player. Over the past few months, the lead track H 2 Da Izzo has had dancefloors bumping the world over - a captivating blend of the past And present expertly crafted by the Martinez Brothers. Though it was only made recently, H 2 Da Izzo feels like an old-school classic, The groove, the bassline, the hi-hats and snares through to the repeated female vocal and, of course, the hook... paying homage to an all-time classic, TMB use the bleepy hook from Hard Drive's timeless Deep Inside to really inject their track with an all encompassing nineties vibe. Two Much (4 Me) follows in a similar vein, an infectious vocal sample full of soul and the bouncing
bassline work in tandem with the retro percussion to produce another irresistable slice of traditional house music. The Martinez Brothers's new EP marks another step in their ascension up the ranks. The duo have travelled the globe, smashing dancefloors everywhere they go thanks to their fresh blend of good vibes and energetic house sets. Acknowledgement of their rise came recently in the form of a coveted residency at the world-renowned Circo Loco parties at DC10 in Ibiza and an invite from Richie Hawtin to join him at his Enter night at Space on the White Island, proof if ever it were needed that the brothers have really been making their mark. So here it is, H 2 Da Izzo, house music in its purest form and two tracks that are bound to become classics in their own right.

Franck Roger reunites with vocal powerhouse Mandel Turner for one of the year's most infectious tracks, 'Through The Motions'. The product of a melting pot of inspirations, 'Through The Motions' features a hilarious spoken-word sample, Mandel's ultra smooth vocal contribution and louche, hypnotic atmosphere underpinned by a laid back BPM. Franck and Mandel first got together on one of last year's dancefloor smashes, the superlative 'After All'. The twosome found common ground through their love of eighties and nineties New York musical culture. Mandel being one of the fortunate few to have spent time at Larry Levan's Paradise Garage, where the magic really happened week in, week out for over a decade between the mid- seventies and mid-eighties. Franck and Mandel formed a strong friendship and decided to continue their working relationship by reuniting for 'Through The Motions'.
Franck concocted the track's continuous linear beat after finding inspiration in one of his favourite tracks, the cult classic 'Make Me Dance (Hard For The DJ) by Nu Groove legend Basil Hardhaus. Later, during their studio sessions, Franck and Mandel came up with the hook – This time derived from a cult track from the nineties New Jersey scene, 'Goin' Through The Motions' by Keisha Jenkins and produced by New York duo, Blaze. Add to that a side-splitting vocal sample and 'Through The Motions' was born. Just like 'After All', 'Through The Motions' is proof that the partnership between Franck Roger and Mandel Turner is one that can Produce Instant classics. Their joint musical heritage combined with a variety of influences, from both house and many other genres, Giving to high Quality contemporary electronic music.

Franck Roger returns with a sharp three-track release alongside talented countryman Terence:Terry. The pair’s ‘This Is Now EP’ blasts us into 2012, a bold and edgy step-change for Real Tone off the back of vintage, Stateside-vibed ‘After All’ (with Mandel Turner). Gritty opening number Hustling Peoples keeps things on edge; just as they should be. Roger and Terry’s title track accelerates smoothly into funky, retro-tinged house flow, complimented by echoes of female vocal. Final offering Beaucoup La Fête returns to moodier territory; a 4-4 stomp with real chaotic charm and buzzing FX. Together, Roger and Terry have produced something very, very special for Real tone. Their ‘This Is Now Ep’ is a striking record asking the listener, very simply, to dance hard and dance now…

Produced by close friend Black Coffee, the original mix provides a suitably deep and meaningful platform for Bantwini's heartfelt lyrics about phony relationships and, in turn, his soulfully immaculate delivery. Lush afro-edged rhythms lead into smart bursts of trumpet, cool double bass-lines and stirring Rhodes solos - a rich musical weave more than amplifying Bantwini's performance. A wealth of stylish remixes skilfully widens Wasting My Time's dancefloor appeal. Gallic house sophisticate Rocco ups the tempo, cracking whip-smart beats against thumping kick drums and infectious metallic key stabs, as does Paris kingpin Dan Ghenacia, thanks to a fiesty vocal remix and dub fusing Gothic mood and jack-happy sass in fine style. Ghenacia's versions have already, in fact, become a thunderous week-in-week-out staple of his Ibizan Circo Loco residency at DC10 this summer. Elsewhere, Real Tone main man Franck Roger offers a neat, dubby riff on Black Coffee's original production, injecting sweet Balafon melodies and additional percussive pep.

Weighty four-to-the-floor beats, then classic finger clicks, percussive skips and flicks, bad-ass M1 key stabs and a bumpin’ b-line – so begins the tasty, retro-flavoured title track of Franck Roger and Mandel Turner’s scorching After All EP. After All is vintage Stateside-style garage-house, calling to mind the stirring, early-Nineties output of New York a,d Chicago – raw beats, raw b-lines, raw felings… Turner’s (perfectly) seasoned vocals ass spice and emotional depth, riding the funky, jackin’ retro-groove with undeniable élan. Promo copies have been thoroughly hammered this summer by key tastemaking jocks the world over – and feedback for real tone’s unstoppable soul-house beauty remains off the hook! But let’s not forget accompanying cut The Sun Will Shine, a fitting nod to the change of seasons with its deeper metronomic rhythms, slick glacial keys and expansive, reverbed Turner delivery. The Sun Will Shine is hypnotic, atmospheric four-to-the-floor, offering classy flecks of tech abnd dubby Balearica. Real Tone has shifted the goal posts once again, this latest assured release revealing yet another impressive side to its renowned mandate for high quality, uniquely-flavoured deep house music. On Roger and Turner’s after All Ep, swinging old school vibes meet modish tech and dub in a dynamic collision sending all the right kind of shockwaves across the dancefloor. Real Tone starts 2011 with Franck Roger's lastest effort : the highly dancefloor "Let's Go Down". As we say in France, one good news never comes alone: to remix Mr. Roger's latest track we are pleased to invite Sascha Dive for one of his deep and spicy performance. Undoubtedly, the young Frankfurt's prodigy has a finger in every pie, after the amazing "Combination" with Christian Burkhardt on Raum Musik and a release alongside the very gifted Johnny D on Love Letters From Oslo, Dive is now teaming up with the Real Tone crew. Our two lads seem already pretty warmed up just a few days after NYE, at this rate, the year may be full bodied.
