NeListening back, ‘Interlude’ will feel like the perfect opening to ‘Skylax’. A jazzy encore crawls in, morphing into a skippy hip-hop instrumental with Jason’s signature flourishes all over it. Aptly named as it is, this is the breathing space between whatever came before in your day, and the eleven deep house gems that are to follow. Speaking of, ‘The Love’ will have you gripped from the first bar. It glides the listener in, then subtly drops that signature, tightly-tuned bassline of Jason’s and continues onto soulful vocals from there. ‘Old Dayz’ touches on a bit of a nostalgic note. The spoken vox cuts harken back to 90s hip-hop joints, playing over a looped Latin sample-led beat. From there, ‘Rawkicks 2’ shows Jason’s rough and ready sampling style in action. A seemingly simple track, but one which has that special something which guarantees to keep people on the floor moving for its duration. ‘Cut B’ contrasts this nicely, being a much cleaner production with tight drum programming and synth work. That said, it still has the classic JG atmosphere we love. Closing out the first half of the album, ‘Definition’ slows the pace ever so slightly, with its eternal pad structure that builds up the track’s momentum into something very mellow and deep.Bringing in the second half of ‘Skylax’, ‘John Blue’ takes things back a notch further. A deeper tune, yet one that shows off an uncharacteristically punchy bass hit from Jason. ‘Last Night’ is a track more reminiscent of Jason’s first 'Lost Cuts' EP on Wax Classic, sounding as if it had been freshly taken off an old tape with its sample-led beat and background hiss. The last four tracks of the album see a return to the ‘Mastercuts’ and ‘Lovedits’ series which fans will recognize from the ‘Lost Cuts’ records, with ‘Lovedits 7’ and ‘Mastercut 5’ respectively. The former is a laid back female vocal edit with the entire suite of signature JG touches while the latter is a garage house hit more crafted for the club. ‘BB’ brings the album to a close, twisting a disco/funksample over a pallet of drums and effects for the near six-minute duration of the track.All in all, this is the perfect follow up to Jason’s debut album ‘313.4.Ever’, with tracks for both the club and home listening. For this first release, we give you the opportunity to grab 4 fantastic trax done by legendary detroit producer : JASON GROVE. Born in Detroit, he started his career in the late 80’s, dj-ing in underground parties when the techno house movement was just at the beginning. He was invited few times on detroit local stations such as WDRQ & WJLB to play. Some said he was at that time very close to the “Wizard”, helping producing their first tracks with anthony srock as Final Cut. He had many opportunities during the 90’s to release some of his work on various prestigious labels, however, as the guy is really hardcore & straight edge, he prefered to continue producing only with analog gears (don’t ever speak to him about a computer or he’ll get mad !) & record his work on cassette only, selling it to indie stores & giving it to friends for some special events (birthday, graduation ect ... !). We heard this story long times ago & it was only when we were in L.A. last year at pooh-bah record shop that we finally managed to get our hands on one of those tapes (one from june 1991 & the other one done in october 1992) with some of the best & incredible music we’ve heard in years, it sounded like kerri chandler BEFORE kerri chandler did even start to release any tracks ! Those first tapes are finally available after a hiatus of more than 15 years on VYNIL ONLY (!).

The groove boys project are what we can commonly call true soldiers of house music. Since their irruption on the scene in 2015, they have not stopped promoting house, deep house and all its variants (new jersey, dream house, jazzy house ect ...) through their multiple releases and their DJ sets. Their sound is completely analog (one day to see their studio, it's worth it!). This ep was indeed inspired by the Italian scene (which skylax records has always promoted), they are accompanied by Novaj (pioneer in France with his youtube channel dedicated to the most beautiful house songs), producer in his spare time, their association is wreaking havoc. The GBP have already signed several remixes for us (soul of the makossa man) and we are delighted to finally be able to dedicate a release worthy of the name to them. Amore, night in rimini, taste of heaven & mondo paradiso form one and the same room, a house monolith of pure pleasure. Undoubtedly, a future great classic.

Concept e25 is back! Wax Classic 15 sees Concept e25’s third release on the label in the space of just a year! The demand has been overwhelming for more garage house hits with that added subtle, French flourish. We heard those cries, so here we have another slammin’ four track record from the man himself! The opening track of the EP, ‘Sing!’, is destined for greatness this summer on dance floors everywhere. For me, this will be the go-to track of the record for most DJs out there. On this track, Concept e25 combines a pumping Kerri style bassline with beautiful sustained chords, feel good vox cuts and the occasional sax line. Proper hands-in-the-air vibes here! ‘Giving It’ takes the EP into a deeper realm, one that evokes images of late evening summer sunsets. However, the garage swing and signature Concept e25 bass sound is still present. ‘Lies’ leads with moody chords before introducing a vocal that will be stuck in your head for a long time! Again, we have a smooth sax line to accompany the vocal up to the track’s climax. Rounding out this solid release is ‘Feel This Way’. Here, the punchy bass hits are united with an acid line that bubbles underneath, before being unleashed halfway through the track in a warehouse-reminiscent burst of resonance.

Straight from germany, this talented producer delivered some of the best deep house music around. Entitled “The first floor ep”, it starts with “Show me” which is one of those eminently soulful house tracks with a sparse approach to production, all the elements sounding so crisp and distinct in the mix but judged perfectly. whilst "Rooted" is a louche head nodder supreme.On the flip side, with "Got that" he’s creating an all-enveloping atmosphere with its oven-warm pads and rich analogue bass, punctuated with jazzy chords and vocal murmurings. “Defense” showcases he’s excellent knack for crafting Moodymann style textures with the depth to boot, combining a solid rhythmic snap with drawn out vocal landscapes and Detroit-referencing melodies.
And to last, “Trouble” is all brisk, upright percussive layers splayed over swooping disco filtration. Nick’s approaching house from various angles and tempos and naturally there's plenty of deft usage of samples; such an EP just demonstrate how on top of their game SKYLAX / WAX CLASSIC is right now - big tip!

Those notorious victims of session return to what we like to think of as their spiritual home, if not their physical one, with the brilliant Glow In The Dark EP, and if you thought Solomun and his neon nights were the only day-glow players in town it’s time to think again as the SV boys slap on the luminous paint and head straight to the dancefloor. First up we have Yes I Know which carries on where Good Intentions left off with their own inimitable blend of raw house, disco, soul and funk all put in the pot and stewed to perfection. We think this track is the epitome of a Session Victim DJ set with the vibe, energy and flow of a two hour party condensed into a very heady six and a half minutes of fun and frolics. Next up we have Berlin young gun Max Graef in on remix duties, shaking things up in a Box Aus Holz style and fashion. He does a brilliant job retaining the vibe of the original but adds his own unique spin on it with a killer funked up bassline and fat groove for the floor. Finally, we have title track Glow In The Dark, a classic SV-style filtering balearic beauty which unfolds over 7 minutes into a hand-raising, seratonin-boosting masterclass in modern-day lo-slung disco.

From the vaults! 1992 KMS records pressure straight from Detroit, still capable of causing much damage on dance-floors in 2016! This 4 track monster pulls together a pretty heavy cast of Detroit Techno and deep House royalty in the shape of Chez Damier, MK and Derrick May all contributing various mixes and versions across the EP. If deep, driving, soul drenched House is your bag you will be in heaven with "Can you feel it", a truly classic slice of sophisticated dance music indeed. All of the mixes are killers, but it's the "MK Dub" mix, also known as the "New York Dub" that really steals the show, here MK and May combine to craft a classy, slamming, emotive string driven jam that pushes all the right buttons. As usual, essential retrospective action here from one of the most legendary dance labels out of Detroit. All tracks remastered and fully licensed with the sole permission of Mr. Kevin Saunderson. 100% legit and not ready to quit!
