Manchester star Oli Furness will soon be leaving his mark on Hot Creations sister label Emerald City with the irresistibly groovy Wanna Lie Down, featuring Chicago’s own Parris Mitchell on the remix. Oli’s output is characterized by dynamic range and rhythmic groove, and Wanna Lie Down is no exception. Raw, chugging beats, distinct vocals and subtle percussions create an undeniable swing that make you move. Oli’s ability to veer between genres with ease and style is reflected in the depth of his releases on labels like Hot Creations, Nervous, Morris Audio, Skylax and his own labels Music Is Love and MIL. Upcoming projects are planned on the infamous Clone records, whilst receiving support from artists such as Ricardo Villalobos and Laurent Garnier through to modern artists like Patrick Topping and DJ Haus. Parris Mitchell helped to define the infamous Dance Mania imprint in Chicago, releasing exclusively on the label from 1994-1997. The thirteenth release maybe unlucky for some, but not here. With label head Oli Furness delivering the Weather Underground EP featuring a shudderingly good Bodyjack remix. Music is Love Records make their own luck as always. Comprising of the standard format from Music is Love with includes 3 tasty originals paired with a killer remix. The crew deliver just that. Crash Gordon opens the vinyl with a BANG. It's off kilter groove is an instant head nodder and super infectious. Oli always pushing the boundaries with his production and with this we get a nice display of his skills, bringing out the tone and life in the sounds. Bodyjack has the task of remixing Crash Gordon and steers the off kilter track into much heavier territory. Something Bodyjack does so well, heavy and rolling whilst keeping you firmly locked in. The B side opens with a big party track entitled Big booty girls, a track ready to make any party lose their Sh*t. Heavy machine drum grooves as are often found on the Music is love boss's tracks and yet again they are central here, a heavily distorted 707 cowbell driving the frenzy is the most notable. Killer stuff. To round up the ep we find the track 64. This is a continuation of the party vibes of the B1 but done in a very different style. Music Is Love is back with its 8th EP, this time coming from label boss Oli Furness with a remix from U Know The Drill. Furness is the Manchester based producer who, in the last couple of years, has established himself as a very real voice in the global house conversation thanks to EPs on labels like the legendary Nervous, Morris Audio and Skylax. Following releases from artist like New Jack City, Liam Geddes and Mikki Funk, this EP offers four more firing house tracks that once again prove this label knows its business. 'Hunger' is a bulky, macho house jam with hardcore kick drums, ravey bassline stabs and crisp hi hats that drive the thing along. It's expertly produced for maximum dancefloor damage before 'Overjack' comes good with a killer bassline and reverse stabs. Baring plenty of classic hallmarks but without ever sounding tired, this raved-up house bomb kicks and squeals, ducks and dives with a great sense of energy that it is impossible to ignore. The same track gets a firing remix from Dutch duo and Slap Funk Records alumni You Know The Drill. This fun loving pair layer in even more ravey stabs, smooth out the groove and have it to bang like a heavyweight boxer for six sweaty minutes. Finally, 'Creepin in the Shadows' again nails a heavy dancefloor groove and is sure to prove an essential weapon for discerning house DJs. Lively, rubbery drums, shuffling hi hats and attitude laced vocals make for a sweaty, bulky workout that the likes of DJ Sneak will surely lap up. The groove boys project are what we can commonly call true soldiers of house music. Since their irruption on the scene in 2015, they have not stopped promoting house, deep house and all its variants (new jersey, dream house, jazzy house ect ...) through their multiple releases and their DJ sets. Their sound is completely analog (one day to see their studio, it's worth it!). This ep was indeed inspired by the Italian scene (which skylax records has always promoted), they are accompanied by Novaj (pioneer in France with his youtube channel dedicated to the most beautiful house songs), producer in his spare time, their association is wreaking havoc. The GBP have already signed several remixes for us (soul of the makossa man) and we are delighted to finally be able to dedicate a release worthy of the name to them. Concept e25 is back! Wax Classic 15 sees Concept e25’s third release on the label in the space of just a year! The demand has been overwhelming for more garage house hits with that added subtle, French flourish. We heard those cries, so here we have another slammin’ four track record from the man himself! The opening track of the EP, ‘Sing!’, is destined for greatness this summer on dance floors everywhere. For me, this will be the go-to track of the record for most DJs out there. On this track, Concept e25 combines a pumping Kerri style bassline with beautiful sustained chords, feel good vox cuts and the occasional sax line. Proper hands-in-the-air vibes here! ‘Giving It’ takes the EP into a deeper realm, one that evokes images of late evening summer sunsets. However, the garage swing and signature Concept e25 bass sound is still present. ‘Lies’ leads with moody chords before introducing a vocal that will be stuck in your head for a long time! Again, we have a smooth sax line to accompany the vocal up to the track’s climax. Rounding out this solid release is ‘Feel This Way’. Here, the punchy bass hits are united with an acid line that bubbles underneath, before being unleashed halfway through the track in a warehouse-reminiscent burst of resonance.

Born in Detroit, he started his career in the late 80’s, dj-ing in underground parties when the techno house movement was just at the beginning. He was invited few times on detroit local stations such as WDRQ & WJLB to play. Some said he was at that time very close to the “Wizard”, helping producing their first tracks with anthony srock as Final Cut. He had many opportunities during the 90’s to release some of his work on various prestigious labels, however, as the guy is really hardcore & straight edge, he prefered to continue producing only with analog gears (don’t ever speak to him about a computer or he’ll get mad !) & record his work on cassette only, selling it to indie stores & giving it to friends for some special events (birthday, graduation ect ... !). After the incredible releases we had on WAX CLASSIC 1 & 3 (for Lost Cuts I & II), you can grab finally the 3rd part of those legendary tapes.

Straight from germany, this talented producer delivered some of the best deep house music around. Entitled “The first floor ep”, it starts with “Show me” which is one of those eminently soulful house tracks with a sparse approach to production, all the elements sounding so crisp and distinct in the mix but judged perfectly. whilst "Rooted" is a louche head nodder supreme.On the flip side, with "Got that" he’s creating an all-enveloping atmosphere with its oven-warm pads and rich analogue bass, punctuated with jazzy chords and vocal murmurings. “Defense” showcases he’s excellent knack for crafting Moodymann style textures with the depth to boot, combining a solid rhythmic snap with drawn out vocal landscapes and Detroit-referencing melodies.
And to last, “Trouble” is all brisk, upright percussive layers splayed over swooping disco filtration. Nick’s approaching house from various angles and tempos and naturally there's plenty of deft usage of samples; such an EP just demonstrate how on top of their game SKYLAX / WAX CLASSIC is right now - big tip!
