a/jus/ted is the musical concept of veteran producer Justin Strauss and analog aficionado Teddy Stuart, better known as Eddie Mars. The pairs inaugural release comes in the form of "A brighter light" featuring the incandescent vocals of Jeremy Glenn for London based Under the shade records. Although a relatively new pairing the due kick off life with a masterful original which moves through its earlier stripped analogue subtleties into an effervescent marauder. The gleaming arp hooks and Glenn's spritely soulful vocal are gradually joined by whacked out acid tinged licks punctuated by a bright billowy bass throughout all the while being lifted from the rousing pads. All in all achieving a track that sounds at once classic, yet unmistakably modern, file under "end of night". A real accomplishment for such a new outfit. Adhering to the current trend for all things Jersey circa 90's is the Lars Vegas (more commonly known as one half of Detroit Swindle) remix. Going straight for the jugular with tight stabs and punchy percussion its manifesto is set out clear to see from the outset. More

London based Welshman Chamboche returns to the label that launched him with the Smoke Screen EP. His unquantifiable sound swerves genre classification, hovering around house but with enough musicality to please the hardened disco head. Swirling pads and a bubbling bass line set down the groove, while keys fall around horns and vocals to make the lead track a refined, uplifting work out. Slowly unfolding, the track is hypnotic and absorbing, showcasing the style of a producer as able to work the mind as the hips. Bicep toughen up the drums and work the arpeggio, stripping down the track and bringing the Chicago influence higher in the mix. While the original subtly unfolds, their remix demands attention from the outset, building to a climax then recoiling for another bite at the cherry. Thinking big, KRL ramps up the intensity with a bright, kinetic reworking. Aimed squarely at the peak time, he harnesses all of Smoke Screen's most propulsive elements to really work the floor. Tucked away on the B side is the expansive Mind Your Mind. Trademark Chamboche percussion is woven around a blissful riff, swelling majestically to round off the EP in slo(w) burning euphoria.

The second Daniele B & Eddie Mars co-production, Mine exhibits the steady progression of the Stallone sludge-funk thump, again fueled by gushing maturity and composure from Washington vocals. Eddie Mars even delivers his own stunningly-authentic production of the Stallone/Washington sound, marking the first official Mars rendition of Pink Stallone since his inception as a producer and member of the live group. With this comes two workouts by master of the deep The Revenge who provides a stripped back timeless dub. One of those tracks that will still sound great in twenty years time. Simple and effective with a hint of grandeur. Finally wrapping things up are S.A.S (Subb-an & Adam Shelton). The Brooklyn-based duo Native Underground is comprised of producer / DJ Son of Sound (Henry Maldonado) and recording artist Javi (Javi Silva). The duo came together in 2009 while Henry was auditioning singers that channeled the likes of Chaz Jankel, Peter Brown, Imagination and other falsetto-friendly male singers that once dominated the airwaves. Their debut EP entitled "Till It Hurts" was released in the fall of 2010 on Roy Dank's Wurst Music Co. Chica Vas is a Brooklyn-based all female drum band. With anywhere from five to twenty-five musicians onstage, Chica Vas can feel like a dance party, a social group, or a tribal initiation, depending on the day; whichever, this is the kind of band that turns the audience into an instant party. Pink Stallone experienced this for himself at the infamous Williamsburg Fashion Weekend, immediately initiating his own live recordings of Chica Vas at Public Assembly. These recording sessions have recently become a recent 7'' on Pink Stallone's Generatto self-release label, and now a special series of remixes from Under The Shade. More
