Bradberry's second venture with London label Under The Shade packs a real punch, with full, chugging bass lines driving bright melodies and crisp drums. On UTS35 his two originals are given contrasting remixes from a pair of duos on either side of the Atlantic. Dropping a clue in the title, "On The Bounce" locks in rigid drums with crunchy low end. Vocal samples duck and dive with dirty acid flecks to consolidate this lolloping tribal groove, perfect for whipping the floor into shape! Midlands pairing SAS (Below's Subb An and Adam Shelton) roll out a straight up houser and dont mess with the bounce. Tempering the drums slightly and bringing the longing vocals to the fore they drop a forceful bumper. The mischievous bass of "Guess Who" sets a killer groove, with Bradberry allowing subtle congas to roll around freely. Jazzy samples illuminate while vocal samples add depth and texture. New Yorkers No Regular Play strip the sheen away from the low end and add a helping of grit to the original drums of "Guess Who". Working a shimmering synth into vocal snippets they drop an assured remix, perfect for outside spaces and lost summer days.

London based Welshman Chamboche returns to the label that launched him with the Smoke Screen EP. His unquantifiable sound swerves genre classification, hovering around house but with enough musicality to please the hardened disco head. Swirling pads and a bubbling bass line set down the groove, while keys fall around horns and vocals to make the lead track a refined, uplifting work out. Slowly unfolding, the track is hypnotic and absorbing, showcasing the style of a producer as able to work the mind as the hips. Bicep toughen up the drums and work the arpeggio, stripping down the track and bringing the Chicago influence higher in the mix. While the original subtly unfolds, their remix demands attention from the outset, building to a climax then recoiling for another bite at the cherry. Thinking big, KRL ramps up the intensity with a bright, kinetic reworking. Aimed squarely at the peak time, he harnesses all of Smoke Screen's most propulsive elements to really work the floor. Tucked away on the B side is the expansive Mind Your Mind. Trademark Chamboche percussion is woven around a blissful riff, swelling majestically to round off the EP in slo(w) burning euphoria.

The catalog of Pink Stallone & Joey Washington singles continues with the arguable gem of their collaborative sessions, Mine. The second Daniele B & Eddie Mars co-production, Mine exhibits the steady progression of the Stallone sludge-funk thump, again fueled by gushing maturity and composure from Washington vocals. Eddie Mars even delivers his own stunningly-authentic production of the Stallone/Washington sound, marking the first official Mars rendition of Pink Stallone since his inception as a producer and member of the live group. With this comes two workouts by master of the deep The Revenge who provides a stripped back timeless dub. One of those tracks that will still sound great in twenty years time. Simple and effective with a hint of grandeur. Finally wrapping things up are S.A.S (Subb-an & Adam Shelton). Following the bumping Foot & Mouth release earlier this summer we had to ask the boys to give there twist and they sure delivered. For his inaugural outing on under the shade, James Johnston delivers a deep and heavy house workout with three original belters that all seem to evolve and grow from a slow sauntering groovers into mammoth club rumblers. Slow in tempo but huge in delivery all teeter around the lower pace of the house spectrum but as James layers them up all become so crammed with content they bust out at the seems and drive home in splendid fashion. The Brooklyn-based duo Native Underground is comprised of producer / DJ Son of Sound (Henry Maldonado) and recording artist Javi (Javi Silva). The duo came together in 2009 while Henry was auditioning singers that channeled the likes of Chaz Jankel, Peter Brown, Imagination and other falsetto-friendly male singers that once dominated the airwaves. Their debut EP entitled "Till It Hurts" was released in the fall of 2010 on Roy Dank's Wurst Music Co. 'Till It Hurts toes the post-New Wave and proto-freestyle axes, channeling the sweaty dance-floor madness at Jellybean Benitez's seminal Funhouse club, where Henry spent his formative years. Chica Vas is a Brooklyn-based all female drum band. With anywhere from five to twenty-five musicians onstage, Chica Vas can feel like a dance party, a social group, or a tribal initiation, depending on the day; whichever, this is the kind of band that turns the audience into an instant party. Pink Stallone experienced this for himself at the infamous Williamsburg Fashion Weekend, immediately initiating his own live recordings of Chica Vas at Public Assembly. These recording sessions have recently become a recent 7'' on Pink Stallone's Generatto self-release label, and now a special series of remixes from Under The Shade. More
