It is with undoubted excitement that Stroboscopic Artefacts can present the new release from Irish duo Lakker as SA019. This comes hot on the heels of Lakker's recent work for the label through the dark trappings of Monad XIV.?
'Harbour' could imagine a vessel out to sea, battling a tempest. Heavily distorted rhythms build like the swirl of a storm, a distress signal popping on, radio distortion. As implosion seems near a moment of calm sets in and a less maniacal beat assumes control. But the unpredictable hammers resume once more, thumping above a sheet of glinting and sharp precipitation. The storm eventually ceases, abruptly, and the 'Harbour' is left still.?? 'eeAea' is a different experience. It is based on surer footing, concrete beneath the limbs. A thump, incessant, pounds in the background, giving clarity to a winding sigh and dissonant percussion. Yet there remains melody in the madness, with beautiful hi ends peeking through the atmosphere and a strut which surges towards conclusion. The conclusion ends (unresolved) at 'Valentina Lane'. It is a street of mystery, set upon a gas of syncopated flashes and airy scrapes. An uncomfortable synthesiser hums in the background, darting high and interjecting low. And it meanders thence, pausing for the odd moment of reflection. It is as deliberate as 'Harbour' is chaotic; it is a tight, cogent finale.

Opener 'Mountain Divide' hits the listener with a epic blitzkrieg of bass, juddering noise, and howling, subterranean feedback, cut through with fizzing drums, to tremendous atmospheric effect: "Like screaming into the wind on the top of a mountain" in the words of the boys themselves. 'Mathfall' is a sinuous groover, built around a lolloping bass sequence, grime infused beats, sinister chords and vocal chatter. 'Mon La' rounds out the release in a more introspective mood, heartbreaking pitch bent chords wash together like Boards Of Canada heard through a broken tube-radio. Their intricate, yet muscular soundscapes and skittering percussion have an epic, alien quality that set them head and shoulders above their less ambitious peers. Having a background in punk, metal and broken beat as well as noise and techno helps give Lakker their truly unique and uncompromising sound. The next release on Candela Rising is a 3 track EP from Irish duo Dara Smith & Ian McDonnell, a.k.a Lakker. All topped off with a remix of the title track by US born and Birmingham based DJ Skirt. After a string of extremely successful releases on Blueprint, Killekill and an early 2013 release in the shape of a remix for Stroboscopic Artefacts, Lakker are back and showing more range than ever before. 'Coal Bath' is a real Frankenstein's monster of a track, a Techno/Garage hybrid with haunting vocals hiding through the middle and broken beats that hit hard. Skirt's remix takes 'Coal Bath' and lays down some heavy demented bass, chops up the middle and grooves things up. All of which leaves a remix ready for the bunker or warehouse. On the flip, 'Rsspstp' is a heavy hitter. Distorted bangs set the pace for this one, which evolves into a prime example of the attention to detail Lakker are so famed for. Machine music at its best. Following on from their ‘Arc EP’ released in April, Lakker return to Blueprint with ‘Torann EP’ featuring five new cuts from this Dublin based duo. Dara Smith and Ian McDonnell (aka Eomac) formed Lakker back in 2001, with early tracks appearing on compilations for various labels, alongside a number of EPs, followed by their debut album ‘Ruido’ on Lazybird in 2007, plus more recent excursions on the likes of Killekill and Love Love Records. With influences ranging from breakcore and jungle to techno and electronica, their sound is just as far-reaching with organic sample-based productions and synthetic, processed electronic beats. Lakker’s ‘Torann EP’, their second release for Blueprint, kick-starts with the dappling beats of ‘Summer Rains’, before
moving onto the more experimental ‘Mustard Crying’. ‘Ciar’ takes us back to the dancefloor with ominous undertones, while ‘Static & Amp’
is a simple but effective exercise. Finally the diminutive but meticulous ‘One Note’ caps the EP off in fine Lakker style.

Following on from September's "Sonic Underworld EP" by Shlomi Aber & Kashpitzky, James Ruskin's label delivers another first as Chloe Lula presents her Blueprint Records debut with the "Torpor EP".Her debut on Blueprint, "Torpor" is a reflection of her stylistic evolution, bringing the sounds of ambience and synths into a clean, contemporary techno framework.

Chloe is a resident DJ at Tresor. She's played at Berghain, Boiler Room, Khidi, Movement weekend in Detroit, and countless clubs, festivals and parties across Asia, Europe, and North and South America alongside artists like Kanding Ray, Helena Hauff and Lewis Fautzi, becoming known for atmospheric, acidic sets that dig deep into the niche recesses of techno. In addition to her career as a DJ and producer, Lula is a cellist-her debut instrumental full-length will be out on James Ginzburg's Subtext label in November 2024-and the senior producer of Resident Advisor, where she hosts and curates panels and interviews as a broadcast journalist at festivals like Nuits Sonores, Dekmantel, Unsound, Rewire and more.

Her debut on Blueprint, "Torpor" is a reflection of her stylistic evolution, bringing the sounds of ambience and synths into a clean, contemporary techno framework. A lifelong reader, each track-and the EP's name itself-pays homage to a book or piece of writing that has been influential in her development as a writer and an artist.

Shlomi Aber & Kashpitzky join forces once again to make their Blueprint Records debut with four formidable techno tracks on the "Sonic Underworld EP".

Barcelona-based Shlomi Aber brings over two decades of production and DJing experience to his music, drawing inspiration from Jazz, Funk, Acid and the old-school Detroit Techno scene. With releases on Cocoon, Ovum, R&S, Figure, CLR, Drumcode, BPitch, Renaissance and his own Be as One Imprint, along with his dynamic mixing technique, has gained him global success while headlining clubs, festivals and venues worldwide.

Growing up, Kashpitzky began his musical path playing guitar in a metal-core band, before trading amps for drum machines. After relocating to Berlin, he graduated from the SAE Institute. A DJ who's hard to pigeonhole, he has a track for every occasion. His definition of techno is best exemplified by his energetic, yet deep and groovy productions, often combining broken beats with organic textures via releases on the likes of MindTrip, Monnom Black and of course, Shlomi's Be As One.

After new releases by Alexander Johansson & Mattias Fridell in April and Vinicius Honorio in May, James Ruskin welcomes back Kr!z with his third EP for Blueprint.

Kr!z has been at the forefront of techno for more than a decade. Influenced by the hypnotic and energetic sound helmed by veterans such as Jeff Mills, Steve Rachmad and James Ruskin, he gradually but steadily developed his own identity in the international techno scene. After making a name for himself as a skilled DJ in home country Belgium and the Netherlands, Kr!z launched Token Records in 2007. It has since been a leading outlet for heady, purist sounds. He rapidly established the label as a fixed value with a timeless and powerful sound and took it around the world with label nights on every continent.

After 12 years spent assiduously focused on curating the Token discography, showcasing artists he has nurtured and supported over this time, 2019 saw the release of his long awaited debut EP on Token. "Mantra" received high acclaim by both media and the scene's key DJs. This continued in 2020, when he released the track "Scorpion's Tail" on Voltage Imprint and "Malice" & "Imperative Needs" as part of a split EP with Pfirter on his MindTrip label. 2022 was his most prolific year to date with three full EPs seeing the light of day: "Neutrino EP" on James Ruskin's Blueprint Records, "The Tunnel" on Setaoc Mass' SK_eleven and "Atlantis" on his Token. In 2023 he released a follow up on Blueprint "Revelation", a split EP with Steve Rachmad on Reclaim Your City and "Marbles" on Token.

Now, the Belgian DJ and producer returns to Blueprint with a new 4-tracker this summer, entitled "Horo EP".

Lømsk's Alexander Johansson and Mattias Fridell made their Blueprint Records debut at the start of last year with their "Geometriska Strukturer EP" (BP067). Now they're back with a new four-tracker, "Marvatten EP".

This Swedish duo have built an impressive reputation since their production debut in 2000 and have gone on to release music on labels including Audio Assault, Symbolism, H. Productions, ARMS, XXX Records, and of course James Ruskin's Blueprint, as well as their own Lømsk label, which they launched in 2022.

On "Marvatten EP" they deliver four more solid Techno cuts that are primed for the dance floor, set forrelease 26 April on vinyl and digitally.

Having garnered a rich musical education through working at and holding a DJ residency for one of the UK's most respected record shops Eastern Bloc, Kerrie's in-depth knowledge and unwavering dedication to music shines through her notable back catalogue and bolshy, unforgiving DJ and Live sets. Honing her craft for over a decade, Kerrie has played worldwide in celebrated venues such as Tresor, Berghain, fabric, FOLD, Elsewhere NYC and festivals including Freedom Medellin, Freerotation, Drift and Basilar.

First learning to mix via her brother's turntables in the early 2000s, it wasn't until 2009 that Kerrie invested in her own set-up and built an extensive record collection, covering everything from ambient, electronic, house, EBM, acid, electro, and her go-to genre, techno. Kerrie delivers tough moods from the turntables, as conveyed in her mixes for Reclaim Your City, Bassiani, SLAM and Crack, where she carefully blended high-energy styles of UK, Detroit, and European techno, many of which stem from the 90s and the 00s. It's frequent to hear Kerrie weave broken elements into her mixes too, chopping up the 4/4 groove at just the right moment to keep things propulsive. Kerrie's Live sets are fast becoming renowned for their trippy motifs and high impact on the dancefloor, applauded by Berlin's long-running club Tresor, where she made several appearances with her Elektron machines. Kerrie's Live set at Freerotation in 2019 was one of the festival's most talked-about debuts, and this year, Kerrie will return to and debut at multiple festivals and clubs across Europe and the Americas.

Following well-received releases on labels such as Don't Be Afraid, Cultivated Electronics, I Love Acid and Symbolism, Kerrie launched her imprint Dark Machine Funk [DMF] in 2020. The label homes her distinctly raw aesthetic and honours her love for dark, gritty, metallic and industrial sounds melded with elements of funk, heavily influenced by second-wave Detroit artists, UK techno and music by some of her favourite artists; James Ruskin, Blawan and Surgeon. Kerrie's first release on DMF, 'Inner Space PT1', was praised by Resident Advisor, who credited her ability to make "lean, fierce techno that knows how to groove."

2022 was a watershed year for Kerrie's productions. She debuted on the monumental UK techno label Blueprint with her EP 'Raw Regimen', which landed acclaimed reviews. Truly welcomed to the Blueprint family, Kerrie shares her second EP on the label in May and joins the crew at Blueprint showcases around the globe. This year marks the release of Kerrie's 10th EP on vinyl, and considering her consistent output on DMF, Blueprint and many more labels, the producer shows no sign of slowing down.

Coming to international prominence in more recent years, regardless of her decade-long tenure in Manchester's vibrant scene, Kerrie is deeply invested in the culture of electronic music, starting from her teenage era as a raver in Ireland up to her innovative projects today. In 2017, she founded Eastern Bloc's in-house event space to nurture local talent, which remains at the heart of Manchester's music community. Having ended her 11-year stint at the shop in 2023 to fully commit to the studio and accommodate her increasingly busy tour schedule, Kerrie is forging a long-lasting path fuelled by drive, passion, authenticity and a community-first way of thinking. Makaton, who made his Blueprint debut in 2015 with ‘Nothing Can Be Held In Our Hands For Long’ as well as an appearance on this summer’s Blueprint anniversary compilation with the track ‘Slur’, now returns to the label with a 4-track EP, ‘When The Dead Rise From The Sea’. As expected from the Rodz-Konez label head, Makaton (Steve Bailey) who has also been delivering cutting-edge techno on Token and RSB like the recent ‘Defiler’ surrenders 4 categorical cuts of distortion and destruction. From the experimental introductory ‘Durdle Dor’ (named after the natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset) Makaton sets the scene before launching into the foreboding rise of ‘High Priestess’. Flipping over, ‘Coast To Coast’ drives the EP onwards with deep techno beats before the refractory ‘Through Fire and Water’. ‘When The Dead Rise From The Sea’ is not just an EP to slaughter the dance floor but also a self contained slice of Makaton’s dark artistry which follows its concept throughout.

With over 30 releases on some of electronic music’s most celebrated and innovative labels such as Bpitch, Warp, Ghostly, Shitkatapult and Touchin' Bass as well as his own critically acclaimed Detroit Underground Records and Kerohand (with Kelli Hand), Kero has established a reputation for unrepentantly brash, yet cultivated compositions. Gotshell meanwhile, is a mysterious deep sound producer, formed in the dark and cold nights of Colombia’s Pereira. Delivering simple, straightforward, stripped down, cavernous techno without hype or fanfare, Gotshell has appeared on labels including Planet Rhythm, Nachtstrom Schallplatten and Kero’s Detroit Underground. Combining their talents for Blueprint 20th anniversary year, we’re given four tracks of dark, thoughtful electronics from the sweeping soundscapes and deep beats of ‘Samaria District I’ to the looping sonics of ‘Operation’; and from the hushed experimental tones of ‘Ex Adenoma Pleomorfico’ to the EP’s dense and dubby closer, ‘Perindsor’.
