With the last two releases on BEK Audio involving the champion sounds of Mark Broom, Mr. G, Speedy J and Edit Select, this time full attention is paid to Gary himself. The EP shows three different flavours from a man known for his varying style but consistent quality. 'Feel It' leads with swinging bass, fading percussion and looping vocal in the archetypal Beck manner. The track swells throughout and has been a cornerstone of recent GB DJ sets. 'Paid Out' heads towards a groovier sound, but still retains the tension of 'Feel It'. Perfect for the stand-out and reflective moment in heavier DJ sets. 'Hillview' is a different beast. A dark, deep and hypnotic track smoulders in the whispering vocals and pulsing tones while sub bass and a thudding kick drum maintain the rhythm.

Sales Note
Gary Beck returns to Mutual Rytm as he unveils a selection of impactful cuts across his debut 12'' on the label, 'Upside Criminal'.
Bek Audio boss and Glasgow techno mainstay Gary Beck has long been a key figure in the scene with a unique sound that has shaped a vast discography. One of the genre's best, with appearances across iconic institutions and collaborations with legendary talents, he is a definitive talent. Returning to SHDW's Mutual Rytm imprint, his new EP lands following his recent appearance on the label's 'Federation Of Rytm III' VA, with the tracks on the package proving as go-to favourites for the label boss over recent months.
''Mutual Rytm has been nothing short of inspirational to me over the last years. I've been playing almost
everything from the label, as the tracks really suited what I was selecting in my DJ sets. The high-quality output really got my juices going to create something for the label, and I was delighted when Marco liked what I sent. This EP signals exactly where I am musically. I'm an absolute sucker for tracks with relentless groovy energy and little breaks, so it felt like a perfect fit. Tracks from the EP have been an absolute joy to play in my sets recently,
and I'm so excited to deliver this EP on my current favourite label, Mutual Rytm.'' - Gary Beck.
The powerful 'Upside Criminal' kicks off with hammering drums and pounding hits that create an inescapable wall of sound that will dominate dance floors of any size. There is more loopy energy to 'Sambana' with its ever more jagged synth stabs and fizzing drum textures while 'Pepper Track' is a futuristic techno workout with rattling snares and mutant synth details peeling off the straight-up groove. 'Rejected' is built around trapped vocal fragments that swirl about the mix to a disorientating effect as the high-speed drums and sheet metal synths race onwards, 'while
Ghost' closes out with a subtle sense of uplifting celebration from the synths that rise up through rusty, rickety techno grooves. Digital Bonus 'Variation 6.1' offers another searing and funky techno stomp, once again providing an extra gem for digital purchasers.

Glasgow’s Gary Beck is back on Second State with weighty 4 tracker “Supervan EP”.
Long-standing techno force Gary Beck will return to Berlin’s Second State with a grooving and cerebral 4 track EP. A pillar of Scotland’s techno scene, Gary has appeared regularly at some of the globe’s most respected venues and festivals including Womb Tokyo, fabric, Output NYC and Awakenings, to name a few.
Title track ‘Supervan’ opens with bouncing bass and rattling percussion. A chopped-up vocal is introduced and commands the track forward as it ascends, with the kick battling to harden the track over the grooving melody and anthemic keys. Next up is the spirited cut ‘Psycho Babble’. A resounding sample attempts to cry out over the jacking bass and kick combo, calling out in ecstasy at intervals of the track. A minimal hi-hat jumps throughout but retracts as the track increases tempo and gallops towards the end, where Beck incorporates breakbeat elements for the final leg.
‘Sparks’ follows with rhythmic shakers and hi-hats juxtaposing each other under the monologue of two young punters. The conversation adds a narrative to the track as it intensifies along with a gritty buzzing element. The voices become distorted as the track builds to crescendo, with the sample and music working together in unison to unravel the story of the character’s night. The finale ‘Pink Castles’ is a pacy and hypnotic trip, conjuring up the energy of both a peak-time workout and high-tempo closer. Haunting vocals and icy synths swirl around the driving elements and atmospherics, engulfing the listener into the darkness of this finishing track. More

Gary Beck, Speedy J, - Egoist
After his highly acclaimed remix of Phil Kieran's `Empty Vessels' one of the most prolific and inventive producers in the current electronic music scene returns to Electric Deluxe : Gary Beck with an EP of his own, `Egoist EP'. Created sometime last year during a dark and stormy night in Glasgow, the track with the promising title `Egoist' was at first about to be forgotten. At some point `Egoist' ended up in Speedy J's hands, who immediately decided to play it; `Egoist' proved its name, `ripping apart every dance floor every time it got dropped'. Surprisingly the track had not been released yet. Things led to a collaborative work on remixes and tools in Speedy J's studio and a forgotten track became the strong backbone and theme to a whole EP. The vinyl A Side of course is the infamous `Egoist' starting off with a reduced groove and a compact rolling bass drum, evolving in a echoing snare - hi-hat inferno. But `Egoist' is more than just an efficient dance floor weapon. With the inventively used subtle vocal samples and its sexy groove this track creates a cool which just goes beyond. The B Side "Speedy J's Dub Tool" is the floor interpretation, the heavy Dub Tool brother of `Egoist'. A dark and rock solid bass drum is constantly rolling and pumping, snare rolls pushing in and out topped by white noise create an adrenaline fueled ride you never want to end. The digital release of Egoist EP contains two bonus tracks & tools. One is a joint forces remix created by Speedy J and Gary Beck giving us best of both worlds in an astonishing organic thriving Track reemphasizing the sound modulation aspects without ever losing sight of the dance floor. Number two is a tool created by Speedy J and Gary Beck focussing on the mid range elements claps, rolling snares and echoing ambient sounds and vocals. `Egoist EP' is going to be released in May on Electric Deluxe
