Hot on the heels of releases from Tom Shorterz, Bodhi and DJ Haus, Rinse continue to roll them out and present their latest from a label favourite - Rupert Taylor a.k.a xxxy. With a back catalogue that's touched Ten Thousand Yen, Pollen, Well Rounded and Orca, xxxy is an artist who has astutely touched on many bases and evinced a serious knack for turning his hand to the variety of styles that build the broad genre of Bass music. This: his latest 'Regrets' EP stands to illustrate this knack perfectly and is a vibrant blend of analogue drums, swooning synths and thick, warm bass tones. The title track kicks things off with sharp hats galloping atop brooding chord changes before filters open up and build a thick and tense tone. Tense, jarring stabs push progress forwards before 12049 drives a rubbery and reverberated kick under softly warped synth tones and stripped but purposeful percussion. Over Peover then sits a panned synth string circling atop tough, crunching percussion and a propulsive synth riff. A rich, heart-rending bass tone is driven in beneath ahead of a rapturous, elongated breakdown that wraps up another coup for Rinse and a solid addition to the catalogue.

The next release on Rinse is the second in a series of three EPs of gorgeous, punch-drunk house music from label regular Rupert Taylor, aka Xxxy. The follow-up to last year's acclaimed 18 Hours, it's a further spiral inwards for the tripped-out, wistful style he's increasingly come to make distinctly his own, with clouds of arpeggiated synth notes and vapourised voice rolling atop pillow-soft, droning bass. melody and disembodied vocals. Yet listen closer - or at peak time - and it's deceptively tough, building to a mesmerising blur of colour amid body-shuddering kickdrums. In contrast, 'Lately' is one of the brightest and most upfront Xxxy tracks to date, with its major key melody, synthetic chord stabs and spiralling momentum channeling both the spirit of electro pop and the futurist impulses of early Detroit techno - a heady cocktail. EP closer 'Close The Door Behind You' occupies a perfect middle point between the two; an eerie, noise-scratched slow-build leads to a sudden explosion of energy, with a barrage of bass swoops and hi-hats abruptly sweeping the dancefloor upward as it goes.

The next release on Rinse is the 18 Hours EP, the latest missive of stargazing, spaced-out house from label regular Rupert Taylor, aka XXXY. Over the last few years Taylor's music has formed a launch pad for his explorations of the styles that fascinate him, from the heartbeat swing of UK garage to lysergic experimentation and the heady pulse of peak-time house. The 18 Hours EP follows up this year's deliriously catchy Rinse single 'Never Enough' and the arrow-sharp 'Goldfish' on Ten Thousand Yen. Each of its three tracks captures the XXXY sound from a distinctly different angle, but they're united by his music's long-running personality traits: a devilish ear for space and melody, which bubbles through even its starkest moments. '18 Hours' itself is a gorgeous, limpid whirlpool of a club track. Rolling out over nearly six minutes, it emerges from shimmery beginnings into a wave-like rush of drums and synthlines that seethes forward and repeatedly crests in eddies of harmonic activity. The EP's other two tracks are among XXXY's hardest-hitting floor burners to date: 'Tool (Satire Mix)' is a tough, bristling mass of acidic bleeps and steely percussion custom honed for maximum impact in the early hours. 'Clap Pitch' is harder still: perhaps the freakiest XXXY track to date, it razes the dancefloor in salvos of static, distortion and wild electronic shrieks.

London-based producer and Rinse FM associate Rupert Taylor, aka XXXY, has announced his second release for the Rinse label, featuring a pair of characteristically melody soaked, 'floor ready house tracks. It's the follow up to 2013?s incendiary club hit 'Got Me So', and is the latest in a series of releases from Taylor exploring ghostly house and garage for labels including Infrasonics, Ten Thousand Yen and Orca. Once again, what marks out XXXY's style is his deft way with synthesised melody: alongside sampled voices, everything is drenched in shimmering, spiralling lead lines that bubble with energy. 'Never Enough' builds from a minimalist, dubbed-out opening into a streamlined, acid-flecked house rhythm, whose central bass motif springs wildly around the mix like a rubber ball. 'No More' drops listeners and DJs right into the action from the beginning, coasting upward upon a deliriously catchy three-note organ motif that feels like being thrust into the middle of a peak-time club set. It crescendos with a huge, reverberant breakdown, before a shower of melodic fragments rain down like shards of shattered glass, sending the track into joyful overdrive.

The genesis of "Nosthaigia" is as fascinating as the music itself. Onra spent several years living in Thailand, immersing himself in the vibrant culture and scouring local record shops for rare gems. The result is a collection of Thai songs from various genres, all sourced on 7 inches. These short instrumentals serve as time capsules, transporting listeners to a bygone era filled with nostalgia and longing.

Produced entirely on the MPC1000 in 2017 and revisited in 2020, "Nosthaigia" is a testament to the power of serendipity and artistic evolution. What began as a casual exploration of unfamiliar musical territory blossomed into a deeply personal and meaningful project for Onra. Amidst a series of unfortunate life events, he found solace and inspiration in the beats he had crafted years prior.

Each track on "Nosthaigia" is a reflection of his journey, a sonic expression of longing and introspection. Onra describes the process of creating the album as a cathartic release, a way of letting go of old memories and embracing the present.

Despite the somber undertones, there is a quiet beauty to "Nosthaigia" that is impossible to ignore. Onra's vintage production skills breathe life into each track, infusing them with warmth and depth. From the haunting melodies of "Until The End" to the hypnotic rhythms of "Close Your Eyes And Remember" every moment feels poignant.

A sparsely documented yet iconic era for Ted Milton's psycho-funk afro punk fake no-wave pogo jazz group Blurt has been brought to life with an expansive collection of restored versions of live performances. Captured on early camcorders during the frenzy of counter-cultural activity that characterised Europe around the fall of the Iron Curtain, these recordings of Blurt, recently posted by fans on YouTube, are a visceral reminder of a scene whose influence is writ large on today's alternative music culture.

Ted Milton's trio have produced an impressive string of albums, not to mention his numerous solo recordings. Featuring 15 tracks spanning their extensive discography from their 1980 debut single – also the title of this collection – “My Mother Was A Friend Of An Enemy Of The People” to 1999’s “Eat Up Your House”, this live collection of performances have been digitised by whatever means available. The original sound captured by the inbuilt microphones of these camcorders and the videos concerned are in many cases the only documentation of an iconic era whose zeitgeist was so masterfully epitomised for many by Blurt.

Refurbished / restored/ repurposed using new AI tools there is a spectral roughness to them but surfing on these reconstructed waveforms, the inimitable machinations of Blurt ride out once again, emerging from a pixilated oblivion to put into perspective the peculiar absurdity of our human condition.

(2023 Edition) Repressed for 2023, PT 2 of Onra's classic Chinoiseries series, which had him going off digging all over China and Vietnam on a quest for loops..'Same Same but Different', the familiar phrase heard throughout south east Asia, a perfect description to characterize Onra’s latest project, a follow up to his 2007 LP - Chinoiseries. So almost five years later, here we go back on the trail of another Asian beat journey with 32 Hip-Hop instrumentals inspired by Chinese and Vietnamese music. A lot has happened in between: The Big Payback with Byron the Aquarius, a beats LP “1.0.8” plus 2010’s acclaimed boogie tinged hip hop LP “Long Distance” while along the way he’s revisited South East Asia on a few occasions adding to his Asian record stack on each occasion. The exotic, mysterious pop and folk Chinese records of the 60s and 70s with their epic operatic and orchestral feel and sealed from the Western counter culture rumblings of the time, not to mention alive with vintage vinyl hiss and crackle, may not seem the easiest source material to work with but after hermetically sealing himself in his Parisian beat cave Onra has come with a more than worthy return for all the time and money spent in the vinyl basements and backrooms of the Far East. There's ample variation but a coherent whole, from the more electronic feel of "A New Dynasty" and "All Night", to the soundtrack vibe of "Mai's Theme" and "Fight Or Die" and the straight beat sound of "No Matter What" and "Remember The Name" and he's even found some breaks! Inspired by the idea of the LP as a sequence of film scenes this intense burst of beats and distinct vibes form an accomplished rounded full length. More

Imagine if you could put together a dream line-up of MCs and producers from all four corners of the rap world?

That’s what artist and illustrator Gangster Doodles set out to do when he put together a stellar collection of tracks by the rappers and talent that inspire his work for the first Gangster Music comp back in 2018. Working on that he says “was one of the most satisfying & fun projects I've been able to be a part of and the idea of continuing the series was a no-brainer. Thankfully All City was interested in keeping the party going”

If it ain't broke and all that – this second volume follows the first with an all-star line-up which features everyone from hotly-tipped emerging Producers and MCs like Ovrkast, Shungu, Woodie Smalls, Big Baby Scumbag next to underground perennials like Teebs, Ohbliv and Knxwlege all the way up to top flight producer Dam Funk and established vets like M.E.D, Black Milk, Lil B and Open Mike Eagle.

An exhausting compiling process via emails, DMs, texts and a myriad of other electronic form of badgering and prodding, the last few years have been busy for Marlon "Gangster Doodles" Sassy. In addition to this he released his acclaimed Gangster Doodles (The Book) alongside an ever-expanding array of prints, original works, apparel and exhibitions across the globe. Topping that off with animation projects, a graphic novel in the works and now, with this his second curated LP titled " Gang$ter Music Vol 2".

Describing the cover art “Every morning I start my day with a bowl(or 2) of Fruit Loops. Usually on the back of the box they have different activities to do. On one of them was a black and white image of Toucan Sam chilling in a tree. In large colorful font, it said you could cut out the image and color it in to create your own version. That idea really resonated with me. Continuing the cartoon cat theme from Vol.1 I chose Felix the Cat to help encapsulate this idea and then flip it on its head. A black and white album cover that could be left as is or if the mood strikes- go and grab some markers, pens, crayons, paint, ink and create your own unique doodle versions”

Following on from his recent well-received 12 on Cin Cin and previous releases on respected labels such as Hivern and Permanent Vacation.... we are excited to present this three track 12 "Anya's Piano" - the first taste of the forthcoming debut LP from New Jackson - "From Night To Night". The title track is a slow building double bass led boogie house groover with saxophonist Terry Edwards [PJ Harvey/Gallon Drunk] adding more depth to its layered, rich melodic texture. The flipside features two non LP tracks - the ghostly rave sound of In My Room with the New Jackson signature sound of dusty boogie synths and vocoder of Leave Me Making closing out the 12 inch.
