Volta Cab, - Play On
London based label ISM serves up a massive EP with three tracks from Russian disco producer Volta Cab, all of which offer some seriously downtempo grooves. "Play On" and "Magic In Your Eyes" nail the classic sub 110BPM disco sound with its lush live instrumentation. However it's the shining 80s feel of "He's A Bad Mutha" that is the most impressive, melding a sleazy vocal with a heart-rending combination of synths and horns. Label bosses Yam Who? offer two remixes, with their version of "Play On" a cosmic uptempo version of the original, with an ascending synth bass that elevates the original vocal to new heights. Their remix of "He's a Bad Mutha" adds a similar amount of extra dancefloor kick, removing the original's yearning melody for something a little more forceful.

Volta Cab transports us, once again, into his own-defined post-punk universe, bringing nostalgia from 80s synthwave and 90s beats in his own modern context.Throughout his new EP “Alphabet of Humanity”, Volta Cab creates raw emotions from the first track to the last. There is a before and an after when listening to the subtle arrangement and dynamics of each tune, as the atmosphere that embeds his music can only let our imagination flow. The EP also features astonishing artwork by Anthony Burrill.

VR is delighted to welcome the Ukranian disc jockey Volta Cab for its thirteenth release. The Dnipropetrovsk local delivers a three-track EP that kicks off with the dance floor weapon 'I Cannot Sleep'. Classic warehouse beats in combination with twisted vocals. 'Jamelia' builds up on the A-side with some shifting hats that call for the dance floor. In B2, Volta Cab remembers when 'house had artists and personalities ...". For Illusion Recordings 6th edition we travel across Europe to the current deep house mecca of Russia to present Volta Cab for his Illusion debut. This is not your typical house release and thats the way we like it. This eclectic EP crosses many genres from Soul to Hip Hop to Deep House and shows off a dexterity of sound Illusion has been building towards since its first release. Featuring remixes by Trus'me (at his best; reworking a beautiful soul record in to a whole new darker, satisfying house monster) and Creative Swing Alliance (up the tempo, reworking the slow, heavy original in to a dreamy, summer house classic).

To most of you, Orlando B needs no introduction. With a bevy of sublime releases on YORE, Orlando makes the rare visit outside of YORE and we're extremely pleased that he's chosen us to do so. "The Harlem Connection" EP boasts two original joints by the London native that are definitely miles apart from each other in terms of sound. To help us round this EP out in proper fashion, we signed up someone for remix duties that we've had our sights set on for some time now in Kez YM. Kez brings his signature blend of deep beats and big basslines to the fold and rinses "Harlem Connection" as only he can do. The vinyl release will be out in a couple of weeks now so your feedback, as always, is huge! If you like it - let us know & feel free to chart it, podcast it, & play it at your gigs!

Volta is one of the most sought after producers in Russia. One of the newest members to the Balance Music Group’s family and he brings versatility like no other producer out there. His productions go in every direction from cosmic disco to deep techno. He is also known as Isaev and his other alias Common People under the Bal-ance Alliance anchor. This young producer has set the course for the next generation of future producers. Not only is he a producer but his live sets are second to none, and we are glad to have him in the family. The first song is “Empire Times” which is a throwback to the early nineties classic New York signature four on the floor sound with fuel injected synths and a great dance floor peak time get down groove. The second song is “Curious Dreams” this song has so many different elements, it is by far one of my favorites of the ep, it has an 80’s sound that crosses many different genres of music from disco to classic electro with a splash of house. The third song is called “Purple Train” another fantastic take on his production skills with this massive deep techno heater that will get the crowd moving with its deep chords and its lush drum programming makes it dance floor friendly for sure..Then last but not least we have song four called “Ruby Nights” this song brings a minimal broken beat sound that has the elements of house with a twist. We at Fi-nale are happy to have Volta Cab as a member and we want to share his gifts with you. We would like to Thank You for your loving support …..Stay True to the roots …...LOVE YOU

Russia is a cold country, but it seems that Volta Cab has created an underworld in his hometown, where he creates, creates and don't stop creating dance music with a warm, acoustic and timeless point of view.
Konstantyn gives us for this fourth release, three original tunes where acoustic are mixed with synthetics as no one ever had done and gives us details that only come to those music lovers who are never satisfied with a simple rhythm.
This time the Fiakun Boys have two pure elite remixers, such as Daniel Bortz and Ene! which they have remixed "Be Madly In My Love" with their own perspective and initiative.

Fellow Native New Yorker’s Odyssey & John Morales collaborate once more and for Ism Records it’s a dream combination. ‘Weekend’ the Leroy Burgess & James Calloway disco anthem reworked by Odyssey & Yam Who? from the bands brand new forthcoming album. Ultra hot for the summer, all the remixes commissioned here are by some of most established in the industry. John Morales & Sergio Munzibai one of most prolific production teams to come out of New York of all time, and from the late 70’s onwards were constantly in demand on both sides of the atlantic. Back in the limelight since re-releasing the M + M compilations for BBE over the past couple of years, we’ve gone full circle again as M + M remixed many of the biggest Odyssey hits from back in day including Native New Yorker, Use It Up & Wear It Out, Going Back To My Roots & Inside Out. Ism Records hooked up with Morales in 2011 and starting discussing working on production for the band. This version of ‘Weekend’ is balanced in tempo and styles, very close to the Patrick Adams Phreek version whilst also touching on the Arthur Baker’s Class Action remake from 1983. One of the scenes most talented producers and one of Ism’s favourite remixers Ashley Beedle turns up the pressure with his second remix for Odyssey in the form of his ‘Big Apple Uptown Story’ series. Slightly tougher and more electronic than the M + M remixes but instantly a dancefloor smash, this has been getting road tested and tweaked for the best part of 2012 and is quite literally the sound of ‘heavy disco’. A name familiar to all the heads who were at the forefront of the mid 90’s London ‘Nu Disco’ scene is Crispin J Glover. Crispin always hanging out at all the recent the Ism parties asked for the parts for ‘Inside Out’ and of course we had to oblige. The track which has been already remixed by a list of producers from 2011 but little did we know what was to be submitted. This is what you call a ‘labour of love’ and again a lesson in taking your time and working the mix to max! The 3 serious remixes and anthems, all in one package! Enjoy!

ISM Records drop this tasty 12" sampler of what to expect from their forthcoming Midnight Riot compilation that showcases the finest slo mo cuts, boogie joints and late night takes. The four tracks included here represent the DJ friendly contributions with Drop Out Orchestra, Ajello, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra and Mr Chicago present. The latter steps up first with "Bad Dub" which expertly submerges a mid 90s US rock n roll classic in all manner of echo and delay, whilst fellow Scandinavians Drop Out Orchestra provide an equally inventive electro groove rendition of a Sylvester standard with "Get Up". Dinner City Sound contributor The Legendary 1979 Orchestra brings some effervescent disco vibes to the B Side with "The Living" notable for its rough drum programming as much as the slick sample looping. Little needs to be said about Italians Ajello other than they know how to construct a disco groove that combines classic and contemporary touches and "That Groove Again" is a perfect example of this talent.

Another big remix package from ISM, who continue their homage paying endeavours for legendary NYC disco troupe Odyssey. This latest 12” sees remixes from Faze Action, Toby Tobias, Leftside Wobble and Ron Basejam. Opening proceedings on the A-Side you’ll find Faze Action’s thumping proto-house version of “Going Back To My Roots” - this one is made for sweat-drenched Sunday nights at Horse Meat Disco! Mr Tobias goes deep on his version of “O DJ KO”, with the swampy bass, echo laden vocal cuts and bleep-fuelled melody a pleasing contrast to its raucous predecessor. The two remixes on the flip maintain these lofty standards, with Soundcloud don Leftside Wobble turning in a twinkling refix of “Lonely Star”, while Crazy P man Ron Basejam turns “Ain’t No Dubbin’ Us Now” into a beefy, conga-led traipse through shimmering, Balearic soundscapes.

Croatian's finest purveyor of disco and boogie returns with a delish four track EP on Yam Who's ISM imprint. The four tracks have all the delicious trappings of Rudman; dramatic strings, ample helpings of cowbell and vintage synth stabs. The A-Side consists of the sleazy squelch of "Crazy With You" in both original and remixed by Yam Who form, with the latter, more uptempo version just shading it. The flipside consists of the sultry boogie bap of "Let This Dream Be Real", with the original bringing to mind a glacially paced version of Rockers Revenge classic "Walking on Sunshine", while the Disco Dirtbox tweak bumps and grinds in all the right places - totally primed for club play!
