Release Info:
Lerosa’s fourth full-length, Catena, is also his second for Berlin-via-LA label Acid Test. It sees the Dublin-based producer once again draw deeply on his diverse influences – dub, industrial, electro, trance, funk, IDM – and transform them into a sound signature that has always been uniquely his own.
This alchemy is no accident. Rather it is driven by Lerosa’s ongoing pursuit of the fundamental meaning of dance music: to immerse ourselves in sound to the point where our only desire is to move and feel in the moment. Hence how, on Catena, the slow and sensual sway of a cavernous bit of dub can sit side-by-side with hands-up trance-like ecstasy, and all still sound like Lerosa.
This achievement is the result of a dedicated daily studio practice. Each track starts from a dynamic studio jam in which Lerosa plays drum machines and synthesisers live and then overdubs them with further modulated layers. He uses looping techniques to build up the density of certain instruments while mixing the layers on-the-fly, using something as unassuming as an iPad. This imbues each track with a spontaneous shifting quality that defines the entire album.
What comes through is a sound that speaks of Lerosa’s love for the studio, for the tangible substance of an audio frequency – analogue and digital, raw and processed, pure and saturated – and the intangible, indeed bewitching mystery of how these frequencies can transport us to other places.

Album closer ‘Suite De Paris’ places pitch-bent liquid acid over a huge skanking bassline, the perfect material for Dozzy to make hay with his simmering techno take. Meanwhile, album opener ‘Apollo’ churns with industrial fervour, before Jordan GCZ reduces it down to its acid techno essence, leaving little space for us to catch our breath.

" To know Lerosa is to have a huge amount of respect for him. The Dublin-based, Italian producer isn't concerned with the limelight. Rather, his studio philosophy resembles the Japanese concept of "kaizen" a workmanlike, incremental improvement.
Leopoldo Rosa's debut for Acid Test is the producer's first album in eight years, but since then he's put out in the neighborhood of 15 EPs for the likes of Idle Hands, Ferox and Saft, homing in on his own lush sound, which weaves effortlessly between deep house, acid and electro.
He applies all these patient lessons on "Bucket Of Eggs", the ten masterful tracks fit perfectly within the label's concept. Yet Rosa, like the label's stable of 303 auteurs (Tin Man, Recondite, John Frusciante, Pepe Bradock) opens up bold new vistas for the subgenre. On "Conjurors," he spends half the track building up atmosphere so thick and dubby you could cut it with a knife, before introducing an acid line and jack track heralding back to the acid's maddening, revolutionary roots.
About halfway through the set, Lerosa is done setting the stage, and thusluy delivers a string of freakishly good late night tracks. For Lerosa, the hips and the head work in concert-"One Is Too Short"'s no-nonsense rhythm section perfectly balanced by the track's dreamy synth and zero-grav piano breaks. On "Self Inflicted," he joins a rarified class, synthesizing electro funkiness, widescreen ambience and acid counterpoint.
On initial contact, Lerosa's "Bucket Of Eggs" feels astonishing, an expertly-paced, near-perfect LP. But for those who have been following the low-key producer, it feels like a natural culmination. "

lerosa - Theme Of Perception
Lerosa‘s 25th solo EP will be released on German label eudemonia. Known for his deep-house sound, the Dublin based Italian producer showcases a different palette for this release. The four tracks gravitate somewhere between Electro, Italo, Synthwave and imaginary film themes. "Glider", a fast electro track, opens the EP combining acid drops and dystopian sci-fi elements. "The Minister' is much slower and serves as an emotional homage to those gone too soon. "Plateau Rosa" connects Italo and Detroit delivering a rolling bassline and glassy synth clouds for the delight of the afterhour-dancefloor. And if Lerosa had scored the soundtrack of a Michael Mann film in the 80's, "Theme of Perception" would have been right at home, a fitting end for this EP. The cover is a painting by the Irish artist Sibyl Montague. It was originally exhibited in London at an exhibition called „Totem“.

Dublin based musician Lerosa has built an impressive discography throughout the years. With his first efforts dating back to 2005 the producer who has a broad palette of sounds has already been around for over 10 years with releases for a vary of respected labels. For the first release on SAFTX , Lerosa hands out a taster of the labels new series ambitions. Vivrant house music is most definitely the back bone of Playa De La Guancha as a whole. The opening is packed with a strapping rhythm section and a vocal cut that is reminiscent of the Trax Records classic House Nation . Julius Steinhoff (of Smallpeople fame) gives Soul Tracing a modern sounding treatment that completely shifts the feel of the original and turns it into an adventurous piece of contemporary electronics. Lerosa opens up the B side with Bruised which is a work out of alternating basslines and brutal machine claps that give the piece a club oriented feel. Acidic sounds cut through the mix with determination and wobbly synth sounds serve as a pleasant sauce for this intergalactic sounding work. Marauder is a hefty bit at a slower tempo than it s predecessors. A loose rhythm section is causing for the listener the focus on the immense LFO threated sounds that float on to and the low down bassline that supports the overall atmosphere in a grounded manner. Playa De La Guancha will be available through all specialized retailers starting early April.

Idle Hands is proud to present our first 12" of 2017 from Lerosa, a four-tracker beamed across the Irish Sea to Bristol. The 'Subcouture' EP sees the esteemed producer operating at the intersection of dubby electro and deep house, taking in the sub-heavy frequencies Bristol is known for, whilst retaining an agile and sleek simplicity. 'Maryelen' is a tight, yet pastoral electro track where dreamy pads contrast against tough, cutting drum programming. 'Line Bass' is a tumbling and bouncy number, that doffs its cap to reggae disco and features vibrant synths peppering the mix.
'Scruffy' takes on a slower and more playful mood, featuring light licks of acid and off kilter keys. 'Subcouture' is a subtle dubbed out house cut with a hint of shuffle.

For Uzuri 018 we return to one of our ‘home grown’ artists – Jitterbug. Time has flown since his last release for us in 2010, but we have been quite eager to get some new material out from him for a while – and, based on feedback we’ve had, plenty of other people are keen to hear more from him too. Both his Raw Winter and Beaten Trax EPs were pretty popular releases for us and his DJ appearances always create a stir, so we’re pleased to bring you this, the Arcane Theory EP. The track sequencing on this record is pretty aggressive – front-loaded with the confrontational Rise of the Machines; a track that really lives up to its title, sounding like the production line at Cyberdyne Systems… all stomp and evil synths, like a bad mood E-Dancer. Fallout couldn’t be further from that – relaxed and making no attempt at all to get in your face. It’ll win you over, though. Just a nice, deep groove and a lovely, phased beat. Could play it for hours… The whole of the flip is devoted to Nomads, a chiming, acidic wander; nearly eleven minutes in length. The kick’s never at the fore on this one – most of the action occurs at the mid and high frequencies – a resonant 303, lots of hi hats and, later, synths which expand on the Eastern-flavour of the track title.

The Londinium EP is the latest release on Uzuri Recordings and welcomes Chicago Skyway back to the fold. Not that he’s been away too long, having produced a full 12” release and contributed to the ‘From Chicago Turin Amsterdam & Dublin With Love EP’ just last year. We also welcome Hakim Murphy to the label – with his credentials it was only a matter of time before our paths crossed! As the title suggests, this release was inspired, conceptually at least, by our nation’s capital, and it’s apparent that Sean has spent quite enough time here to get the gist of the place, with the B-side tracks entitled Traffic and Noise, respectively. I’m sure he loves it here, really.Musically, he keeps it closer to his Windy City heart – very clearly reflecting his roots, in fact. As a DJ and club promoter in mid 90s Chicago, Sean frequently shared the decks with some of the city’s biggest talents at that time – Cajmere, Gene Farris and Spencer Kinsey (Gemini) among them, and one could say that there’s an audible Relief flavour to A-side, London Streets, with it’s stripped-back, hypnotic stomp. It’s fitting that Hakim Murphy remixes the track, coming from similar roots within Chicago’s scene, and his own reworking retains the drawn-out essence of the original but brings a whole new hips-and-shoulders groove to the track. On the flip, Traffic plays out a very simple analogue groove over a clapping 808 percussive pattern. The sonic equivalent of being stuck in a stationary car with Larry Heard, perhaps? Or maybe just a really sweet track. Noise can be taken more literally, I think. A slow, static-filled monster of a track – not abrasive for the sake of it – instead switching between muffled warmth and the hiss of synths working overtime. Four for the floor

Uzuri is proud to present this first release of 2011 – a sweet four tracker from a crew you may not have encountered before.Pittsburgh Track Authority is a stateside three-piece comprising Preslav Lefterov, Thomas Cox ( Who is responsible for the excellent “Infinitestatemachine” Blog ) and Adam Ratana – three longtime friends and musical compatriots who have, between them, been submerged in music and music production for many years. Collectively, this project is a rather more recent endeavour, though you wouldn’t necessarily guess that from these accomplished and self-assured tracks.First up, Duskshaped (a collaboration with fellow Pittsburgh native, Nice Rec), lays down the smooth, organic feel of the release, with some serious bass and keys pressure.Vertical Impact is a straight-up head-nodder – slow and moody; crackling drum samples and a gradually mounting set of synths that blow the track up to several times its original size. Not feeling any pressure to pick up the pace, Bloodlands pits crisp tones over shuffling drums and a thick-set bottom end, eventually giving way to an insistent, chanted call to the floor.77B concludes things for this release – once again with some incredibly infectious bass and organ work. Some classy strings complete the picture, over a restrained drum machine workout.‘The First Four’, then, but certainly not the last. You heard it here first.

Move D, JuJu, - Your Personal Healer (Hydraulic guitar by JuJu)
Move D's The ‘Hydrophonic EP’ features musical contributions from friends Gal Aner (Juju) and Eric D. Clark, reflecting David’s long-held love of collaboration. The record opens with ‘Your Personal Healer’. Against the backdrop of a disco break, a filtered piano rises and falls mesmerically. Vocal spectres float, as further elements are artfully woven into the mix. Perhaps most notably, some smooth guitar licks are provided by Juju (of Juju & Jordash). There’s a playful feel to ‘Things Will Come... (...for Those Who Wait)’ – a perfectly compact track which is somewhat reminiscent of early Herbert material with it’s flat kick drum and sample-based composition. The reclined groove of ‘Sur un Bateau avec Eric’ occupies the whole of the second side – evoking memories of a Summer now just out of reach. Eric D Clark whispers in French and wind chimes sound delicately, over a square wave bassline that animates the track for the dancefloor. It’s as classy and sophisticated a release as you’d expect from Move D – for the more tasteful DJs!
