Sales Note
There's no denying Marcel Fengler's profound impact on the ever-changing techno landscape. A pioneer in his own right, Fengler's works have flooded dancefloors and set lists worldwide for decades, and that shows no sign of changing anytime soon. His latest work is an all-encompassing four-track EP titled "Unleashed", including a remix from sought-after Stuttgart duo SHDW & Obscure Shape.
Kicking off with the title track, "Unleashed" introduces the EP with high-octane rhythms, pulsating low frequency sonics and rave like harmonic layers. An unrelenting onslaught of fast paced thumping techno, built around long, sweeping notes, vocal injections and a piston-like bassline, this one was made for the height of the party. "Caution" is next to feature, presenting itself as a robust industrial number with harsh percussive drive and endless layers of cadence throughout the mix. Weighty yet groovy in a unique up-tempo way, its robotic vocal splashes make the perfect accomplice for its potent warehouse vibes.
"Cypher" pulls you into the second half of the EP with rattling rhythms and more gritty sweeping musicality. Exhibiting the depth in his production skills, Fengler loads up the mix with a kaleidoscope of percussive elements alongside thumping kicks, surging synths, and another haunting robotic vox before SHDW & Obscure Shape get their teeth into a signature remix. Taking it deeper and darker, the duo's emphasis on subtle progressions and increasing intensity throughout the mix with offbeat trickery and creative unpredictability make their remix of "Cypher" a certified peak-time bomb.
"It has been quite a journey with this EP, as I've been exceptionally discerning about the sound and the entire production process. My goal was to create a release tailored for the dance floor, with the right amount of energy for peak-time moments, while also ensuring a profound and well-structured sonic experience. After testing potential tracks in my DJ sets, I distilled what I believe captures the essence I want to share with the audience. Furthermore, I'm thrilled to have SHDW & Obscure Shape on board for a formidable remix. Their work carries echoes of the raw and forceful sonic textures from earlier times, which I hold in high regard. I'm genuinely delighted with how everything has come together, and I hope you enjoy it!" - Marcel Fengler

Jimmy Edgar and Travis Stewart (aka Machinedrum) reunite as JETS for a new and limited 12" on Leisure System, featuring vocals from chameleonic soul singer Jamie Lidell. "Midas Touch" debuted as the opening track on Machinedrum's Essential Mix in November 2013, but the track has been popping up at Leisure System gigs in various forms for the past six months. This 12" is only the second release from the JETS project following their self-titled debut on Leisure System, but as solo acts both Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum had breakthrough years in 2013, the former launching his Ultramajic imprint and the latter releasing the Vapor City LP on Ninja Tune. The result of serendipitous recording sessions, "Midas Touch" will sound familiar to many but has been given a unique spin by the restlessly creative duo, buoyed by a powerhouse earworm vocal by Lidell. "Midas Touch" is a vinyl-only release featuring the original JETS version of "Midas Touch" and a shimmering Machinedrum remix that smoothes out the soulful track for the dancefloor. Marcel Fengler can look back upon a very productive year as an artist. There was the "Frantic EP" on Ostgut Ton, followed by DIN (a joint project with Efdemin) whose compositions formed one third of the "MASSE" CD and ballet and then arguably his most creative and intense project to date: the release of his debut solo album "Fokus". For the remix EP accompanying this release Dave Clarke, Aubrey, The Exaltics and The Traveller were invited to place their focus on some chosen tracks. Dave Clarke opens the 12" with his remix of "Sky Pushing", the forceful but tender character of the original track is overturned into deep distortion and systematically lead towards gentle chaos, the steady drive of this rework leaves no room for pause as it propels the energies set free. The break techno of The Exaltics, whipped up with nervous bass and smoky drums, serves as one of the groovier additions to this EP. The massive beats that follow the break lift the track to another level and when the mellow vocals of "Mayria" set in, things fall into place in perfect combination. On the other side Aubrey redefines "Trespass". The absorbing arrangement combines unpredictable use of hi-hats and synths from the original with a dark and classic pumping beat and inspired flanger effects to diffuse the tension and create a balanced mix. The final remix by The Traveller is also the greatest surprise, the track lures you in with a soft intro but soon develops into an old school techno stomper, the heavy kick and percussion is complemented by the reoccurring melody from "Jaz" inviting you to immerse yourself in the sound.

Having already demonstrated his talents at producing bold, gyrating and atmospheric techno through his numerous 12''s on Ostgut Ton, and after offering a window into his DJ mind with the versatile and highly musical 'Berghain 05' Mix CD, Marcel Fengler now approaches the album format, exploring his take on electronic music from yet another angle. Over 11 varied and detailed tracks, his debut album 'Fokus' is the product of an intensive 3 months in his Berlin studio, where Fengler developed a sonic concept for an album which expanded his love for outlandish electronics, abstract melody, abrasive textures and dub-wise bass frequencies, all carefully siphoned into a a very concentrated end result. From the engulfing spaces found in the opening moments of 'Mayria' and the introductory 'Break Through' (one of two tracks exclusive to the CD version), sweeping layers of synthesis, mysterious sung elements and encircling layers of kinetic energy build.

Berghain's Marcel Fengler presents the fifth installment in the club's expanding mix series. A central resident at the club since its early days, Fengler continually and consistently fires up the Berghain floor with his vast and exemplary collection of Techno, House and Electronica. Opening with the eerie echoes of Emika's "Count Backwards" - treated by Marcel Dettmann - we quickly discover the first exclusive gem of the mix as Peter Van Hoesen's incredible "Axis Mundi" sets the tone from here on in: full, lively and not short on drama. Pushing into darker zones, Regis' typically haunting mix of Tommy Four Seven's "G", or Luke Slater's L.B Dub Corp mix of Fengler's own "Thwack" segue with more classic cuts from Secret Cinema's "Timeless Altitude (Minneapolis Mix)" and Ratio?s "Doublefeature". Fengler keeps the surprise element alive while maintaining tension and pressure throughout.

'In From The Night' came out in 1993 as part of the 'Planetary Funk Vol 1 EP' on Peacefrog and has remained an underground favourite since.
Here on his own Mote-Evolver label, Slater revisits the track with a fresh perspective across two edits and an interpretation from Drumcode's Adam Beyer and celebrated Brazilian DJ/producer Webbha. The techno titans team up to deliver a remix with thunderous energy as tense synths patterns loop, evolve, and grow ever more edgy as the track unfolds throughout.
On the flip, the first 'P.A.S. Edit' is a potent touch-up that finds pounding drums overlaid with raw and textural synth patterns alongside occasional crashing claps and a rising sense of dark cosmic energy. The 'P.A.S. Live Edit' unfolds in broken patterns and reverberates with menace as more searing synth lines fire across the dance floor.

The Lady Machine readies her debut 'Magnify EP' for Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver this December.
Pornceptual resident The Lady Machine has recently appeared on her Unterwegs Records label, on compilations via Ben Sims' Symbolism and Token, as well as on incendiary mixes for FJAAK's Spandau20 and Bassiani. Active as a vinyl DJ for over 20 years, the Brazilian-born, Berlin-based DJ/producer prepares her first release for Luke Slater's Mote Evolver with 'Magnify EP' this December.
Leading the release is the titular 'Magnify', combining dense arpeggios with heaving kicks and sizzling percussion, the track looks straight to the dancefloor with a no-nonsense, club-focused arrangement. 'Concentrate' follows suit, with The Lady Machine drawing for crunching drum rhythms as unruly mechanic samples run wild throughout.
On the flip, 'Amplify' brings together hypnotic synths over a rumbling 4/4 for a trippy affair before 'Collide' closes out the release with a heavy and rolling cut destined for dark rooms and late nights. Cementing her status as one of the most exciting acts in techno in recent years, her 'Magnify EP' for Mote-Evolver is a triumphant display of The Lady Machine's production talents.

INFO
This October, LaFontaine and Orbe drop the seventh chapter of Mote-Evolver's 'Parallel Series', curated by label founder Luke Slater.
After the first release by Luke Slater (as L.B.Dub Corp) and ASC in 2011, the 'Parallel Series' has continued to host split releases from the likes of Shifted, Rene Wise, Billy Turner, Bas Mooy, Developer, Truncate, Sev Dah, Jeff Rushin, and more.
The seventh instalment on Mote-Evolver sees 199X Recordings founder LaFontaine debut on the label following releases on Planet X and Negativ Notion. Kicking off the release is '3015', a track that immediately captured the ears of Slater after Ø [Phase] played it during b2b live stream in his studio. The resonating kicks, detuned synths and off-kilter sonics pulsate strikingly throughout before 'Kokkur' keeps the hypnotic energy flowing with aquatic fx, deep space pads and oscillating grooves.
Fernando Sanz and his Orbe Records imprint has been lashing the block-rocking techno of Sanz's comrades Eduardo De La Calle and Steve Stoll, but mainly of Sanz's prolific moniker, Orbe. He provides murky soundscapes, smoky chords and orbiting drums in his '9DVR' cut until 'Trimax' rounds off the release with kinetic synth flutters and glistening bleeps that ebb and flow with the ghostly atmospheres.

Steve Rachmad, aka Sterac returns to Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver imprint this May to release the 'Numbers' EP.
Since his earliest days in the scene, Amsterdam's Steve Rachmad has created a legion of monikers to cover his compositions' variety and broadness. One of them being Sterac which focuses on the deeper and more obscure end of the techno genre. The Sterac discography consists of signature cuts, spread out over genre-defining labels such as M-Plant, Tresor, Klockworks, Afterlife, Mote-Evolver, Indigo Aera, and Delsin.
His 'Numbers' EP sees Steve drop the first release of 2021 under his Sterac alias as he makes a return to Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver label with four tunnelling techno tracks.
Kicking off the release is 'Ghost 37', which employs vacillating grooves, ominous synths and intricate mechanics before 'Lost Track 22' fuses sizzling 303s, dynamic drums and mammoth, alien-sounding modulations.
On the flip, 'Rey Fur 2.1' keeps the energy flowing with a high-impact clapper featuring bustling fx and expansive tones until 'Tr-15' masterfully rounds off the EP with twisting synth flutters, rattling highs and hypnotic bass grooves intricately unfolding underneath.

Fresh off the new album we welcome the arrival of a limited L.B Dub Corp single. Opening proceedings, 'See The Light' unveils a soulful and vocal driven side to the L.B.Dub Corp sound, whilst 'We Are going Home' switches up the aesthetic and movesinto duskier, percussion driven territories. Last up, Slater punctuates the EP with the intricate, snaking sonics of 'Calling The Spirit', harnessing slick, skipping hats and a hypnotic, ever-evolving lead line.

(180 gr vinyl incl. DL card) Following its launch in 2006, Slater's L.B. Dub Corp moniker has been responsible for refreshing house music on labels like Mote-Evolver and Ostgut Ton, with the latter hosting the pseudonym's debut album in 2013. 'Side Effects’ is the project’s first body of work since then. “I wrote the tracks over the last year between being on the road as P.A.S. and playing a few L.B. Dub Corp house sets, which naturally evolved into ‘Side Effects’ almost accidentally” – Luke Slater

His hard-edged beats, insistent tones, and occasional flash of devious humor make Deutschmann a natural addition to the Mote-Evolver roster: his natural versatility and clear-minded futurism result in compelling club tracks and DJ nights, and his Mote Evolver debut EP Lost In A Loop is no exception to this rule. With just a simple schematic to work with, Deutschmann does what the best producers do and enlivens those simple instructions until they give an illusion of greater complexity.
