The glorious creative love affair between Londoner jozif and LA based Culprit continues unabated, with the artist’s fourth release for the imprint in as many years. Six months after the first ‘W?aikiki’?EP by j?ozif,?C?ulprit releases its followup. The five originals that formed the core of the twopart ‘W?aikiki’?were the fruits of the intensely prolific period of musicmaking by jozif. The past two years without a jozif release have felt like an eternity at Culprit headquarters. Imagine the collective relief and delight, when one of the label's core artists had a veritable musical outpouring, delivering five delicious originals. Too rich with originality and some of jozif's best ideas to be contained within one collection, "Waikiki" will be released in two parts, accompanied by exciting reworks coming from some of the label's favorite artists. Part 1 shows jozif's unwavering dedication to genre-defying, timeless dance music. Analogue disco meets old school r'n'b and funk, framed by a modern deep house feel, all delivered with jozif's typical poise and a sense of musical adventure. Never the one to hem himself by expectation of others, jozif continues unabated on his unique path. "Waikiki" accomplishes real depth with lightness of touch, yet again rewarding Culprit's faith in the artist with some of the best music in the label's cannon. Remixes on "Waikiki" Part 1 arrive courtesy of Matt Tolfrey and No Regular Play. Tolfrey is another Culprit mainstay, with the working relationship spanning almost the entirety of label's existence. His take on "Good Man" is warm yet trippy, its deadly groove led by a terrific bassline. Brooklyn's No Regular Play are long time friends of Culprit, with Greg Paulus (one half of the duo) having featured on a pair of remixes by Thugfucker and Signal Flow recently. This is the Wolf + Lamb family members' first proper work for Culprit and it's assured electronic funk is a very welcome addition to the release.

Amidst an insane touring schedule jozif contributes the next instalment in the Crosstown Rebels unstoppable release schedule with 'The 508'; a killer EP featuring the sublime vocal work of Little Bear and rising star Uffe on remix duties. Unorthodox percussive elements lead the way on the original version of 'The 508', rattling away in an almost marching band fashion until we are swept into the ethereal vocals of Little Bear. Deeply emotive grand piano chords combined with the inclusion of additional hats and shakers pave the way for a kick and a subby baseline to give the track real purpose and drive. An electric piano melody during the breakdown builds tension to a climax, which cascades down upon the return of the vocal. On the remix the Rebels astute A&R team welcome young Dane Uffe to the label after his exceptional recent outing on Pets Recordings. This one starts gritty and raw with tribal percussion setting a loose off kilter groove. The piano chords from the original are retained and are even developed further with a few extra chords added. This time its epic string pads that build the climax and a glockenspiel melody that completes this beautiful journey. Closing the single is the instrumental version of the title track. A great release for jozif to kick off his Crosstown account!

Hiroshi Watanabe, a musician, photographer, and DJ from the Japanese electronic scene, based in Saitama near Tokyo, has been a prolific figure for twenty-five years. He has explored most major genres of electronic music through more than twenty albums. He proudly becomes the very first Japanese artist of InFiné.
After Ryuichi Sakamoto, he is one of the very few Japanese artists who have gained the favor of Western audiences, alongside notable names such as Cornelius, Towa Tei, DJ Krush, Ken Ishii, Susumu Yokota, and more recently Hiroshi Yoshimura. In Europe, he is best known for his project Kaito, which began in 2001 under the prestigious Kompakt label. The name Kaito, in addition to being the name of his son born the same year, carries a double meaning in Japanese, signifying both "universe" and "secret." These references hint at a spirituality visible in his photographic work and contribute to the elements that make Japanese artists masters of the ambient genre.
The collaboration between Kaito and the InFiné label began with his participation in the compilation "Music Activists 2020 (From Home)," which supported artists affected by the Covid crisis, followed by a remix for the single "Motion" by Rone and Vanessa Wagner in 2023. These initial contributions led to a new album featuring nine tracks of ambient music.
Kaito's new album ‘Collection’ comprises nine ambient and melodic tracks composed during the Covid-19 pandemic. These compositions present a majestic minimal and harmonious therapy in response to the world’s adversities, showcasing the producer’s return to the peak of his art. ‘Collection’ was remastered by another genre legend, the German Rashad Becker, and released on vinyl and CD by InFiné in 2024.

The name Kaito, in addition to being the name of his son born the same year, carries a double meaning in Japanese, signifying both "universe" and "secret." These references hint at a spirituality visible in his photographic work and contribute to the elements that make Japanese artists masters of the ambient genre.
The collaboration between Kaito and the InFiné label began with his participation in the compilation "Music Activists 2020 (From Home)," which supported artists affected by the Covid crisis, followed by a remix for the single "Motion" by Rone and Vanessa Wagner in 2023. These initial contributions led to a new album featuring nine tracks of ambient music.
Kaito's new album ‘Collection’ comprises nine ambient and melodic tracks composed during the Covid-19 pandemic. These compositions present a majestic minimal and harmonious therapy in response to the world’s adversities, showcasing the producer’s return to the peak of his art. ‘Collection’ was remastered by another genre legend, the German Rashad Becker, and released on vinyl and CD by InFiné in 2024.

"By mixing classical orchestral textures with modern electronic elements, I wanted to symbolise the heterogeneity of the worlds that intersect in this story".

Sonically, the record is a combination of Bruce's piano playing, and piano sounds made using new electromagnetic "bows" that vibrate strings inside the piano creating drone notes.

'Eno Piano,' is a stunning reinterpretation by American pianist Bruce Brubaker of selected tracks from Brian Eno’s ambient masterpieces, including iconic Music for Airports as well as three original compositions venturing into his collaborations with Harold Budd, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Dieter Moebius or Jon Hopkins.
In his explorations of minimalism, Bruce Brubaker makes connections to music old and new. In his album Codex, there was a dialogue between open-form music by Terry Riley and very early keyboard pieces written down by anonymous scribes in the 15th century, while Brubaker's performances of music by Philip Glass enabled the releases of the critically acclaim Glass Piano and his collaboration on Glassform with Max Cooper.
Brian Eno's music is equally a significant part of the repetition-based musical minimalism in the 20th century. Eno Piano acknowledges a deep artistic bond.
In 'Eno Piano', the piano, one of the first "synthesizers," becomes a new kind of fantastic resonating box — a supernatural synthesizer. The album is a compelling discovery, a rereading, reinterpretation, "re-production" of Brian Eno's music, from the hands of a visionary virtuoso. Sonically, the record is a combination of Bruce's piano playing, and piano sounds made using new electromagnetic "bows" that vibrate strings inside the piano creating drone notes.
The album represents a leap, into a new genre of post-ambient, post-piano piano music. Here, sound technology heightens artistic sensitivity, and the listener's presence in the moment. Deena Abdelwahed's first album is shifting the epicenter of contemporary electronic music south: "Khonnar" will be released on November 16, 2018 by InFiné.
Pronounced "Ronnar" (an essential detail so as to avoid facile misinterpretation by French-speakers) it is a term that makes the most of Tunisia's cultural and linguistic spectrum. It evokes the dark, shameful and disturbing side of things, the one we usually seek to hide, but which Deena instead sticks our noses in with her debut. It is a testament to Deena's coming into her own as a world citizen, and as an artist. A self-construction made of frustrations and constraints, borne of retrograde mindsets, which are not the prerogative of either the East or the West, and which she tirelessly strives to expose and break.
Throughout the 45 minutes of "Khonnar", Deena breaks down the codes of bass, techno and experimental music, and writes the manifesto for a generation that does not seek to please or to conform, taking back control of its identity - with all the attendant losses and chaos. A new creative world order is taking shape, a new tilting point between north and south, the response of a connected and liberated youth who takes the control of the new decolonization.
About Deena Abdelwahed
A Tunisian producer and DJ, Deena Abdelwahed arrived in France at the age of 26 after earning her stripes on the Tunis scene and as part of the Arabstazy collective. Her hybridized DJ sets, on the outer reaches of sub-cultures, and especially the one she performed at Sonar 2017 (one of the edition's Top 10 according to the New York Times), propelled the young artist into the clubbing universe's most demanding spheres (Boiler Room, Concrete, Room for Resistance, Säule/Berghain…). As a producer, she was the creator of an acclaimed performance at the CTM Berlin Festival ("All Hail Mother Internet"). Her first EP "Klabb", released in early 2017 on InFiné, was met with critical acclaim from the blogosphere and electronic media. That same year, she collaborated on the tracks "Plunge" and "An Itch" from Fever Ray's second album.
Mask and photography by London based artist Judas Companion, whose work is about transformation of human identity. She makes masks and masked portraits to create different layers of the human being.
