dinky - Slowly (Radio Slave Remix Version 2)
Closely following the release of her critically acclaimed album ‘Valor’, trained musician Dinky releases the second single from the album on Crosstown Rebels. The stunning ‘Slowly’ also gets the remix treatment from fellow Panorama Bar favorites and Berliners Matthew Styles and Radio Slave. ‘Slowly’, like most of the tracks on the album is centered around Dinky’s illustrious vocals. Resident Advisor said of the vocals “[I can see that I'm losing you slowly] is as poignant as the song's fragile piano” Matthew Styles is a highly respected DJ and producer who as the first label manager of Crosstown Rebels has since made his way as a producer in his own right releasing on the likes of Ostgut Ton and his own Running Back that he runs with Gerd Janson. His remix takes the song to euphoric heights with it’s infectious bassline and impressive disposition. Dinky reveals that “Matthew knew the song and its meaning so well that he captured its spirit perfectly.” Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave is also back on the label since his highly celebrated remix of Aphrohead last year. Owner of Rekids, Matt recently released ‘Vision’, which celebrated ten years of the label. Here for his first remix he delivers a pulsating beast, intricate in its ethereal chords and vocals. For his second remix he conjures a stripped down, minimalistic version with broken percussion and fervid synths for a beautiful and compelling effect.

Released on Damian Lazarus highly acclaimed Crosstown Rebels imprint ‘Valor’ tells a deeply personal narrative for Chilean born and Berlin based producer / DJ Dinky, her sixth album acts as a pinnacle to her steadfast and illustrious career and brought on a momentous change to her personal journey. Esteemed for her work on labels such as Cocoon, Ostgut Ton ,Traum, Wagon Repair, Horizontal and Visionquest, and DJ residency at Berlin’s infamous Panorama Bar for over a decade, Dinky AKA Alejandra Iglesias is a trained classical guitarist, singer and keyboard player. Her voice is an anchor to ‘Valor’, it’s crisp definition loaded with intensity. Tracks such as the driving single ‘Casa’ called out by US giants NPR for its “gorgeously layered vocals” and the fragile layers of guitar and synths on cuts like ‘Milk’ make bold unions between sublime house and techno electronics and Dinky’s live instrumentation.

Chilean born and Berlin based Dinky has forged a solid and illustrious career over the past decade. ‘Casa’ announces her new album set for release on Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels this Autumn, with remixes from Axel Boman and Satori. A trained classical guitarist, singer and keyboard player that has held a DJ residency at Berlin’s infamous Panorama Bar since 2004, Dinky’s sixth album, also titled ‘Casa’ will be the first since the birth of her two children.’ Dinky’s delicate vocal on ‘Casa’ is both up-tempo and spacious, with infusions of acid, leftfield and electronica in its veins. Axel Boman delivers a stunning, emotive and epic nine and a half minute dub version, overlaid with spoken word samples referring to lost experiences. The Swedish born producer is much-lauded for his releases on DJ Koze’s Pampa, Permanent Vacation and his own imprint, Studio Barnhus, formed with Kornel Kovacs and Petter of Border Community. While the hedonistic take from Satori takes ‘Casa’ up beyond the horizon. A future Crosstown Rebels artist, Satori has released on 8Bit, Under Your Skin and Bla Bla records. Casa’ sees a return to form for Dinky and a welcome return to the Crosstown imprint, after previously releasing a single and a mix album for the pioneering label.

Visionquest's resident electronic songstress Dinky is back on the label with the third single from last year's impeccable 'Dimension D' album. The seductively soporific and texturally nuanced 'Xanex' weaves another enticing tale with Dinky's voice floating atop a soundbed of grinding digital bass and shimmering guitar. Surging new life into the original are a pair of top drawer remixers - Tuff City Kids (aka Gerd Janson and Philip Lauer) take 'Xanex' on an dancefloor acid trip while Roman Flügel channels a more stripped back, spaced out approach. Dinky came to Berlin a decade ago where she quickly became a dominant force in dance music, making her mark through releases on Carpark, Cocoon, Ostgut, and the critically acclaimed ´Anemik´ album in 2009 on Mathew Jonson´s Wagon Repair. Her fifth studio album, 'Dimension D' was released in June 2013 on Visionquest and saw her evolution into singer-songwriter and performer with a new musical direction. Based just outside of Frankfurt Tuff City Kids is the alias for production duo Gerd Janson, boss of Running Back and long time DJ and Arto Mwambe member Philip Lauer. Besides their far-reaching and esteemed solo careers, Tuff City Kids have provided remixes for high-profile artists such as Azari & III, Tensnake and Ali Love and released original EPs on Delsin and Osgut Ton sub-label Unterton. One of the most heavyweight artists in the German electronic music scene, Roman Flügel has been active since the 1990s and a production chameleon with styles ranging from ambient/IDM to house, techno, electro and leftfield. Working solo under various aliases or with long-time partner Jorn Elling Wuttke, they are also co-founders of the Ongaku/Klang/Playhouse labels.

Esteemed and revered Chilean born, Berlin based producer, musician, singer and DJ, Dinky AKA Alejandra Iglesias releases her fifth and most accomplished album to date on Visionquest this June. 'Dimension D' witnesses Dinky producing a exquisite album full of songs and melodies which owe as much to indie band's like Cocteau Twins and Mazzy Star as to her underground electronic techno and house roots. After releasing the highly acclaimed 'Anemik' album on Wagon Repair in 2009, Dinky has spent the past three year honing her song writing skills to produce this truly remarkable and beguiling album. The unique combination of Dinky's production, song writing skills and musicianship combined with her husband Matthew Styles mixing the album has succeeded in producing her strongest album to date

Dinky makes her evolution from inaugural DJ to singer songwriter and front stage performer with new album ‘Dimension D’ out in June on Visionquest. Single ‘Falling Angel’ is first to drop with remixes from two elite producers, Matthew Styles, who coproduced the album, and Pépé Bradock. Both heighten Dinky’s layered ethereal vocals and mesmerising melodies with their own movement and elements of dark and light. Her sister named Alejandra Del Pilar Iglesias Rivera Dinky at birth. Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, as a child she studied Ballet and the Suzuki method of piano before relocating to New York to become a contemporary dancer. Her drive to make music brought her to Berlin a decade ago where she quickly became a dominant force in dance music, making her mark through releases on Carpark, Cocoon, Ostgut, and the critically acclaimed ‘Anemik’ album in 2009 on Mathew Jonson´s Wagon Repair. Her fifth studio album, ‘Dimension D’ sees her evolve into singer-songwriter and performer and take on a new musical direction. Long term friends with the Visionquest collective from their hedonistic days residing in Berlin, Dinky’s fresh approach fits within their ethereal and otherworldly style and follows the Footprintz album earlier this year. Consistently on point DJ and musician Matthew Styles coproduced and mixed ‘Dimension D’ and will perform the album live in a series of dates this summer. French DJ/Producer and prolific remixer Pépé Bradock has been an enigmatic figure on the scene since the early 90s always essential listening for anyone into deep house with a magic off kilter touch.

rosstown Rebels retain their untouchable high standard as they divulge into the blissfully advanced musical world of Dinky. The ‘Sealed EP’ is a two-track treasure through driving deep house and effortlessly smooth techno, embodying that special touch only Dinky can deliver. Title track ‘Sealed’ showcases an intricate weave of percussion and electronic stabs straddled across a rounded warping bass that dominates the depths of this delicious cut of driving tech-house. A Balearic tinged vocal, sung by the stunningly talented producer herself develops and steers the track along a new avenue, while an undulating LFO in sealed below the rhythm engages and disengages by going in and out of time, causing a stir in the rhythmic dynamic and securing this track as one of true class and complexity. B-side ‘Eeled’ steams in with a seriously powerful bass and clap that drives the housier of the two tracks, while pacey and at times erratic electronic keys creep in to provide a prominent element to this dance floor treat. The surging energy and illustrious sound quality riding throughout both tracks showcase Dinky at her absolute best and prove why Crosstown Rebels are proud to have has as part of the family.
Chilean producer and lady of the moment, Alejandra Iglesias aka Dinky has been riding at the forefront of her game for considerable time now and each move she makes seems to elevate her further and further from the pack, with her latest venture on Crosstown Rebels proving to be no exception. Dinky has been maximizing her already sky high status reeling out a string of releases that ooze her musically influenced background and passion for sound. The future in Dinky Land shines only brighter with focus on highly anticipated production project with Matthew Styles. More

Following up on her unanimously acclaimed third album ' May Be Later' (Vakant), Chilean artist and Berlin transplant Alejandra Iglesias conceived 'Anemik' entirely for the Wagon Repair label after being approached by label head Mathew Jonson. A musing on femininity and the fine line between romance and delirium, 'Anemik' transcends borders in its range of influence and reflects consciousness in the fluidity and tangibly live origins of its creation. Recorded using analog equipment and acoustic instruments with a strong emphasis on voice, there is a wisdom and maturity to this work that suggests an artist in the prime of her life. Opener 'Childish' builds from meditative beginnings with looped synth, wandering pads and wildfire percussive cycles that concoct a deep and dreamy landscape. 'Romaniks' creates space between electronic and acoustic spheres with Latin soaked beats encircling a subdued kick. Mantric vocal chants inject a mystical dimension to the affair, its psychedelic overtones continuing into 'Westoid', where Dinky's vocal lament is complimented by the baritone accents of Los Updates enigmatic Jorge Gonzales. 'Gold Fishes' bubbles into being with processed choral scales, while 'Rain Fallic' is a mid tempo trip of lazy legato harmonies and epic Telecaster drones. Title track 'Anemik' is a restless electronic frenzy, with melodic and percussive elements feuding amidst staccato vocals, effervescent machine transmissions and a penetrating central kick. 'Glacial' opens with an aquatic brew of reverberant vocals and deep percussion that swims through murky pads and delayed keys to close. 'Ceramik' weaves a tight beat, with warm Rhodes accompaniment, live percussion and ramped vocal passages concocting a mesmeric floor worker for the early hours. A perfect example of the fluid, jam infused
tone of the album as a whole. Thumbed melodic patterns and sonorous key stabs characterize 'Glassic', while 'Skyped' intertwines grandiose processed chorals, deep metallic percussion and leveling pads in a hypnotic malaise of storm and sweat. The infectious arpeggiated melodies of 'Epilepsia' are invigorated by live Latin percussion and intermittently cooled by warm pad progressions in a contemplative ascent to close. 'Fadik' grips as a wonky love song set to cascading beats, strummed guitar and electronic emissions, while closing track 'Nocturnal' unsettles with moribund ambient shivers to complete the kaleidoscopic range of flavors and emotions offered by this most remarkable of records. At times dreamy, at times nightmarish, at times romantic, at times befuddled, 'Anemik' is always quintessentially Dinky. More

Infotext:
Consistency and a diverse but functional aesthetic have kept Berlin based record label Vakant ahead of most imprints operating in the same space. Having released records since 2004 they have focused on working with only a select number of artists as they believe this is the only way to endure in a scene which is susceptible to trends, with Premiesku being part of the family as well as the likes of DeWalta and Avatism. Having already released a highly successful EP on the label in 2014, and more recently being a part of the labels latest anniversary compilation, 10 Years Vakant, the Romanian trio return with a driving four track EP. This EP features catchy melodies, vivid emotion and driving, floor-focussed percussion, which consists of three original tracks as well as the ever-dependable Varhat stepping up on remix duties. One of Frances most exciting exports, Varhat has already released a string of impressive records on labels such as Mulen and Howl. His interpretation of 'Cu Balans' brings a signature sound which portrays a lighter more bouncy feel to the track.
Premiesku which consists of Livio & Roby and George G are a Romanian joint alias that have been releasing and performing together for over nine years. Their widespread influence on the flourishing underground scene is no secret, their innovative live performances, and constant flow of cutting edge productions remain one of their nation's leading lights in the field.

After a 3 year hiatus from his Avatism moniker, Thomas Feriero, one half of CW/A and owner of Parachute records, returns with an EP for his home label Vakant. A rough yet refined release, unassuming in its effort, Thomas channels both his previous solo work and his CW/A project into a tightly wound package with 4 solid cuts. Various influences converge yet a straight line is etched for all to follow. These are up-front, hard working tracks. Body Music with an undercurrent of breakbeat. Vakant comes back with a very special release from an unknown group of creative entities. Three cuts of tribal space techno weaponry aimed at the dancefloor. We have received a message from entities lost in between the stars in the vacuum of interstellar space. The transmission was encrypted in an ancient code we were able to translated into frequencies understandable to earthlings. A psychic telegram has been sent to us, activating the body and the mind, divided into aggregations of codes that form three tracks of straight in your face, high-octane fueled, acidic tribal techno, riding on solid bass lines, trippy synths, shiny percussions and abstract ambiences.

It's not a simple thing to write about your own tunes. Your concept is innate, the music itself is in your mind and comes out as a natural flow, talking about it is a different thing. This time I wanted to come up with something different for my new EP on Vakant. Something unexpected for the ones who know Cesare vs Disorder's sound. I wanted to make a few tunes that reminded me about those lost feelings of the 90s, when electronic music was made not only for the clubs but also for the soul and the mind, not directly for a purpose but as a natural answer to time and space. After the classic "orientation" battle with head-honcho Alex we finally agreed on these tunes "Vortex" and "Unreason", one I would say more spaced out and heavy orientated, the other almost resembling those Electronica times when I really enjoyed flying with my brain and my emotions.
We finally also agreed to add a couple of remixes of Vortex by Romanian rising star Cristi Cons and Italian talent Fango. They both delivered unique stellar interpretations and I am happy to present the project to the world.

Info:
After first performing together at Sonar Festival with what was essentially a live version of our respective "B.O.A.T.S." and "Adamant" albums, Thomas and I decided to expand on these ideas for something more broad and improvisation-centric. After months in the studio drinking nothing but amaretto and working on new music for this purpose, our new live experiment (now simply called CW/A) was ready. The reception on these shows was so (thankfully) positive that Vakant eventually pressured us into releasing some sections as tracks. "Conducting the Method" is nothing other than a sample of what this new project is about: a collection of three excerpts taken from this year's performances. To round things off, we invited over our friends Dead Heat for a reinterpretation of one of our tracks. We can state with confidence that we are excited these tracks are no longer confined to our club and festival performances and can't wait for everyone to hear them. Hopefully you will enjoy them as much as we enjoy playing them out.

Info
Sitting down and writing about our latest EP was a fun but challenging exercise, we scratched our heads and this may sound bad but we couldn't think of deep, dark interesting stories on how we made these tracks or what they represent. These jams are simply a combination of previous and random happy accidents that have come together and saying anything else would be a lie. This however does not mean that the thinking behind them is completely random, the three cuts that we selected for this EP we feel are a journey of experimentation and a culmination of unexpected sounds and feelings. A word that we found best described the EP was 'Irony'. The most ironic thing we feel is that the main basis of these tracks were born on the stage during our live performances and they have now been reworked and moulded into a record. We however feel that this brings an interesting element to the EP that yes it is recorded and set, but you are not quite sure where the next sound or feeling will come from. A hi hat? A kick? It is pure 'organised randomness'... I suppose we should talk about some of the music and try and explain what we mean! We start with 'Pe dos', which in plain English means inside out and it was a track that we had started back in 2011. We were flicking through our 'curiosity closets' one day and found it, we played around with it and heard a kick drum that was not arranged correctly in the sequence due to a random manipulation of the sequencer. Our first thought was to just change it, but then we decided to wait..... when all the other sounds of the tracks came together we threw the kick back in and BAM, Even the acapella voice of the track was screaming. Therefore it was a simple for us to name this track as we worked on it in a completely back to front and "Inside Out" way! The other two tracks on the EP were born in a similar way, reborn again out of the dark corners of our packed 'curiosity closet'. The track 'Noococ' is perhaps the track with the most irony on the EP. Having been made originally after an amazing gig at Amnesia in Ibiza in 2012, we were in a recording frame of mind which gave the song its basis but we would still play it within our live shows. 'Noococ' has been therefore from recorded track, to live and now back to recorded in a quite weird but groovy journey. The final track, 'Trandafirit' has no such meaning. It is again a raw track stemming our live show some time ago that inspired us to recreate and retouch. Again through experiments and lots of head banging on walls, we recreated and accomplished a track that stayed true to the original writing of it but also embodied change which in a way is symbolic of the development of our project over the years. Now, we did warn you at the beginning of this wordy mess that it has been 'organised randomness' that has brought us to create these tracks and this EP, but one thing we are sure about is that we knew we would love to and be very honoured is to be able to put out this collection of cuts via Vakant. A label that has been close to our hearts and heads for a long time. We hope you enjoy the EP and that the music can help translate some of the shit above.
Much Love!

For the second instalment from Quantum Entanglement we delve into the misty past, a time when moving parts ruled the dance, when the power of the night rested on a needle and a bassline, and before CDJs calculated the bpm for you...you had to touch things, buy things, and the bassline ruled over all. Acid Thunder, a classic by Fast Eddie, was the first dance record i ever bought. It was important. The guy who sold it to me, at the time a spotty school kid in his school uniform, was called John Stapleton, and the shop was Sidetrax in Bristol. Mentrix totally gets the kinda NY sluttiness of the original, and brings it right up to date....less of a cover, more of a homage, the entanglement of then and now. Need You is an entanglement of two very unlikely BFFs... John Lee Hooker and Joey Beltram. This isn't really a cover, it's more like the offspring of many things, times, and moments - it's like the grandchild of John Lee Hooker's track dated the nephew of Joey Beltram's track and lived in Neukölln. Again, Direct - "Techno Gone Mad" on R&S was another of my earliest techno purchases - at the time it was considered "Dutch Hardcore" but now, it's almost cute....

Hey everyone,
It's me again. I'm sipping coffee and staring at this Mac's calendar, suddenly realising it's already been more than 4 months since the release of "Adamant". I think thank-yous are way overdue so I'd like to take this opportunity to acknowledge everyone involved in the project as these have been a really amazing four months. Enough nonsense and let's back to business, or the purpose of this text: I (drumroll) proudly present the final 5 re-interpretations from some talented friends. It's an honour for me to have Francesco's techno, David's modular madness, Jake's synthwork and Martin's melodies all in one package, but being both fan and friend of everyone on board I'd be blatantly biased in describing this record's contents. So, since it's 2014, why don't we switch banalities, skip the "description" and "let the music do the talking" (ugh, did I really just write that?)
Thank you all!
PS. Seriously, does anyone read these anymore?
