Soul Clap explains…….. "WTF (World Transformation Force) is our reaction to what’s happening to this planet called Earth, and to us, the human beings on it. It’s a call for radical love and radical hope. Our belief that things will get better, even if we are still just beginning to learn how to get there. It’s a wake up call to action, a time for all of us to join together on the path to positive change. Dance music was born as a subversive, underground movement of marginalised people and we believe it’s our duty to follow in their footsteps and use the power of our culture for positive change.”
Soul Clap are astute in looking to the past in order to build the future, a constant ethos driven by their many influences and the respect and genuine acknowledgement to the roots of dance music. They connect with artists from the source and this is further displayed on WTF with collaborators like Nona Hendryx (one third of Labelle and who toured with Talking Heads), who delivers a powerful spoken word on album interlude ‘What If There Was No America?’
The album also features Tra’zae Clinton, who is the grandson of George Clinton; Harry Dennis, Chicago house music producer and lyricist who was part of the original generation of house music in the late 1970s and early 1980s; Rich Medina, a key figure of the East Coast scene, creator of Lil’ Ricky’s Rib Shack and resident for Q-Tip’s ‘Open’ Fridays events; and Sha-Lor vocalist Lori Lava who burst onto NYC Club scene with classic ‘I’m In Love’ produced by Newcleus/Dream 2 Science mastermind Cozmo D in the late 80s. EFUNK: The Album is not just the culmination of two musical lives, it's Soul Clap's statement about the sound of now. After years spent traveling planet earth with only a turntable as transportation and a crate of records as a guide, Soul Clap settled on Earth's tropical Art-Deco paradise of Miami as the perfect spot to build the EFUNK mothership. Limited to 13 songs over 45 minutes to fit on one 12" record and operate the mothership control panel, EFUNK: The Album also tells the story of Soul Clap's journey so far in a concise musical statement that could only be accomplished with the skills of master DJs.
Along their path returning from the outer-reaches to save dance music from the eclipse of darkness, Soul Clap's pop sensibility captured the hearts of many earthlings. A series of game changing edits, originals and remixes, a 2010 summer anthem 'Extravaganza' and edition of the legendary DJ Kicks series saw their reputation reach intergalactic levels. By harnessing the past, they look to the future and their timeless reworks and original formula has led to remixing legends Laid Back, Robert Owens and DJ Harvey as well as modern pop stars like Metronomy and Little Dragon. With summers spent touring the world and winters in Miami training at ping-pong and charting new musical territory, Soul Clap continues their quest to be the hardest working duo in the game.

Eli Goldstein AKA Elyte and Charles Levine AKA Cnyce have locked secrets from the outer realms into its design, only to be deciphered through careful attention to its soul. Help in the transformational process is obliged from their close knit Wolf + Lamb family, who have shared and shaped their journey into the consciousness of the terrestrial. The young Jules Born of Voices Of Black duo injects his raw funk stamp into 'Let's Groove On'. Baby Prince AKA Gadi Mizrahi of Wolf + Lamb features alongside other members of the family on 'The Clapping Song'. "We were just hanging out in Charlie's bed when this one came together. We all just sang our own versions of the lyrics," says Eli who contributes the saxophone to the jam. Charlie also plays Kazoo, guitar and keys. Greg Paulus of No Regular Play beams in his magnificent trumpet on the serene closing broadcast, 'Islands in Space' as Charlie sings in cosmic frequencies and Eli's father Gary Goldstein strums the bass. Charlie's vocals play a big part of the appeal of the Soul Clap sound. Their 'Lonely C' anthem of last year made it onto BBC Radio 1 daytime and 6Music rotation and EFUNK's 'TroubleTroubleTrouble' shares a similar vibe - wholly connected and real.

Franceska unveils her Janet Jackson like powers on 'Take It Slow' and Mel Blatt of All Saints fame wrote and sang the lyrics for 'Ecstasy' - a typical slow jam from Soul Clap, defined as a record that pulls the body low to the floor and slows down the energy vibrations. Hijacked by a UFO to study the effects of the spotlight over a decade, Mel recently returned with divine powers. "We met Mel at DC10 closing," explained Charlie, "Her vibe is incredible and the fact that she's seen it through a pop stars eyes is an added bonus." Her lucid voice returns for 'Need Your Lovin'. Originally an edit Charlie created from an intense love for the original, when they shared it with Mel over stargazing, her mutual feelings led to them recording her vocal and replaying all the parts, becoming a reinvigorated fresh interpretation of the rave classic.
Further into un-charted territory 'The Alezby Inn' a cover of legendary west-coast electro don Egyptian Lover, features the humorous genius Genevan Heathen, who shares a Boston connection and unleashes an EFUNK masterpiece, a mischievious jam that speaks its own truth, "its strange but I like it!" 'Let It Go' was resurrected from an early demo Roldy Cezaire gave to the guys during their legendary midweek parties in Boston. It became a staple in their car cd player, never forgot it due to Roldy's vibe and innocence, and finally resurrected it for the EFUNK voyage. Because we're left speechless: this record is just so "wooow" it hurts to close the gap. It's like it says on the tin of clichés: “THE DEFINITION” is giving you a concise description of where SOUL CLAP, the humorous Boston-based house duo, is heading. Well, not quite: more where they have arrived, actually. They have found their style. Eleven out of ten! This is light years away from the sick “Puppy Crack” anthem that left you with wobbly legs. It came as a great surprise when Nail accepted to press on vinyl the 2011 produced “BPMs Vol.1” he had so far only released through his own website. Nail has been one of our favorite producers for quite some time now and his relentless beats always part of our selections. One half of UK electronic act Bent, Neil “Nail” Tolliday has released a series of solo records between 1994 and 2000 on Classic and DiY, the imprint developed by the Do It Yourself free party collective formed in 1989 in Nottingham. Nowadays, Nail releases new music under various aliases on his own GFI Music website, on which the “BPMs Vol.1” was released in 2011. Two titles out of the six originals were especially extended for the occasion. “Bulldogz” and “Fucked Off” come surrounded by four shorter titles all developing a very special realm…

the last time alejandro mosso released one of his original productions on airdrop, he was still operating under his funzion alias. released in april 2008 and designed with franco cinelli, the singa*pure ep left a distinctive footprint on many wooden and concrete floors. the mendoza-born producer is now back, revealing here one of the highlights of the new live performance he has presented throughout europe and japan over the last year, “nightwalker” - a cutthroat, synth-driven number, which slightly departs from mosso’s usual signature sound. on the flip, who better to spread some funk and soot than legendary frankfurt artist losoul? one cannot possibly forget his 2008 title “west side horn” on playhouse – the one that actually made us think how most appropriate the losoul treatment would be on nightwalker… we were not wrong!

Funkalicious James is one half of disco-house super-duo Childhood '87, along with his old pal Le Loup. Their "Caught Up" edit on Airdrop's Aux-Rec imprint back in January 2010 got some mouths talking and feet sliding. Funkalicious James is now back with his debut solo EP and Airdrop is really glad to bring it to you on vinyl today. The Parisian born producer prepared two explosive cuts for his A-side, starting things mellow with "Call On Groove" and speeding it up a notch on "Broken Hips". On the flip, Douze -- another young Parisian producer who appeared on the last Hold Youth record by Seuil and Le Loup -- brings back a certain touch of french filtering, in the classiest manner. Exactly a year ago we released our first collaboration with John Spring, the Benzo EP which included three phat floorburners, featuring that classic Spring sound. We are really proud to present you with outstanding remixes for each of these.The first person on board was none other than Mr. Mike Huckaby himself. Spring and Huckaby being fellow Native Instruments workers and contributors, the project possessed an instant appeal to the Detroit-based producer. Fresh from a series of outstanding project, including Tresor's 20th Anniversary compilation, the 2nd volume of his Sun Ra Reel To Reel edits and an outstanding 10" on Sushitech, Huckaby's mix is a fresh burst of pure groove. The second ones to be selected for their participation, were Felix Dickinson and Jamie Read from England. Felix Dicksinson is a man of many guises - aka Foolish from duo Foolish & Sly, he has been running the Cynic label since 2004 - Dickinson is also one of the best disco re-editers the old continent has to offer. Long time production partner Jamie Read is well known for his mid '90s productions, many of which got simply stolen by Joe Lewis and released on Target and Relief. Together they call themselves LHAS Inc., the Larry Heard Appreciation Society. The last mix, comes from Airdrop spearhead Franco Cinelli. Upon receiving internal information about the project, Cinelli immediately decided to contribute to the record and dropped a disco house party stormer, making it directly to the A-side.

Over two years ago already, we were announcing Andres Zacco's first EP on Airdrop. The 'Seated Hopping EP' had been sent to us by Andres' best friend, none other than el Señor Franco Cinelli. Needless to say, we fell in love with the subtlety of his music. Fast forward until today and be prepared to be blown away by how much Zacco's musical refinement has developed. Impossible you will say, as you remember last year's 'Something In Your Smile EP' on Airdrop or 'Drawing Clouds' on Zacco's Greener label. Well, give it a listen! Here are three beautiful original tracks, made out of a collection of universal sound, carefully crafted and perfectly mixed in Andres Zacco' Rosario studio. This fully-fledged EP comes to round off a year of successes for Andres Zacco. Having released key 12"s on Dario Zenker's Ilian Tape label (out of which Raresh included 'Icegrass' on his latest Cocoon compilation, or a few weeks ago bursting all techno charts with the original 'Dextre' track on Jonas Kopp's Traut imprint. Swayzak's Brun listened to the first sketches of this EP and immediately decided to give a go to the main track. The result is a conceptual treatment that reflects the advanced maturity of the Swayzak sound, deep inspiration to most, if not all.

Andrés Zacco, the Pergamino-born Argentine producer is not an unknown to the scene. His highly descriptive, funkily elusive, reduced yet very driving house sounds that are finely layered and always utterly tasteful in their composition have surfaced on labels as varied and renowned as Stock5, BPitch, Alphahouse, Esperanza and Traut Muzik. Andrés also releases on his own imprint, Greener, which features works by Lineas de Nazca, Kai-Maan and his dear friend Franco Cinelli to name a few involved.
